If he can bring Star Wars back in the same fashion that he brought Star Trek back, I'm okay with this.

He didn't bring Star Trek back. He made an action movie using the same names and similar props.

    Trekkies don't consider it cannon.

Like us old school Star Wars guys don't consider that godawful EU-destroying cartoon to be cannon.

In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

It is the last nail in the coffin of Star Wars.

i think that's a wee bit harsh and i completely understand ur loyalty to the original franchise because i am too but i guess i'm a wee bit willing to give new content a chance so i'm kinda looking forward to it

As a Trekker who's watched every episode and every movie of every series time and time again, I'm perfectly fine with the new movie, and I consider it canon. But to each their own I suppose.

Offtopic: Technically the new star trek wasn't cannon. It was set in a offshoot timeline therefor not cannon in comparison to the originals.

Ontopic: Seems like a wait a see if the screw fits or breaks the socket.

While the new Star Trek film may not have been considered "cannon", it was still enjoyable to watch in my opinion. While these new Star Wars films might be the same case, and may not be considered "cannon", if they are still enjoyable to watch, than I will still like the films, but just not as much as if they actually continued the saga correctly.

Admittedly, I have some reservations about the new upcoming trilogy. Like the new Star Trek films, it simply may be difficult to adapt to the new faces. However, I must say that I did really enjoy the last installment, and the extended preview for the next film makes me eager to see that one as well. Of course it is not going to be the same. Nothing ever is. I am simply choosing to view this as an evolution of the franchise, and hope that it ends up being as exciting for me as the first three films. In that regard, I believe that J.J. Abrams will be as good as any director could be for the titles.
That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.

Not gonna be too many new faces, apparently.

Except they're gonna kill Han. It was Harrison Ford's condition.

Which they can't do, since he's still alive deep into the EU.

In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'
