Okay, so. I think I can answer your question. I got Far Cry 3 for christmas, and a new graphics card, and found out I didn't have enough energy output to run it on full graphics. You may need another power source OR like me your hard drive is on the fritz and has to be replaced. If it keeps happening, go to your local best buy and consult a geeksquad employee.
I swear to god reddit, I'm getting fed up with your bull****. I spent a lot of time and quality effort on my post and what do I get? Silver? That grey ass desaturated emblem of mediocrity? Oh please! As if I'm not the best thing that's happened to you all day! It's not like it's only like $5 anyway.

i've been facing a similar problem while playing Far Cry 3. my system just power's down and reboots. no error message. nothing. and when re-started that same game running on max resolution and settings run's fine for hours.

so i sent my MoBO, Gfx Card, Power Supply, RAM for a checkup and possible replacement. i was told that both the MoBo and Gfx Card were found to be faulty with the same problem of random shutdowns(How the hell can that happen? That wud be a rarity, right?). and promptly replaced. meanwhile my RAM and PSU checked out fine. so get ur hardware checked out...thoroughly.

my current Intel based system config:

    Intel i7core 980x 3.33Ghz
    Asus Rampage III Extreme
    12 GB Corsair Dominator GT
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 800W
    HDD: 1TB WD VRaptor
    Sound: Creative X-Fi Titanium 7.1
    Gfx Card: Asus ENGTX 580

"F" the Geek Squad, even I know that they are over-charging monkeys. Trust DABhand, he will not let you down. He has helped out a lot of other people in these forums, and charges nothing for it. Let us know your results, because that is the only way other members can benefit. When people fail to share their results the problem just appears unsolved.

That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.
