    Hi guys,

Im looking at upgrading from my Nvidea gtx 295 card, it has 2gb of video memory. I'm not really up to date on much of the new stuff. Any suggestions on a graphics card with dx11 support that would give me max on all games etc?

    in advance

I have an AMD XFX HD 7970. It is a pretty nice graphics card.

I 100% agree, it is also the cheaper option.

Nvidia want insane money for their cards and sometimes for a little fps... The 7970 3Gb or 6GB are sweet cards, I suggest it dude.

Nvidia cards are the same price as their AMD counterpart.

A 7990 is about £800-900 depending on the brand etc.

A 690 is about £750-850 depending on the brand etc.

So in a sense Nvidia is cheaper.

    Another Example

A 680 is around the £360-480 mark depending on brand, GDDR size etc.

A 7980 doesn't exist. So we have to look at the next AMD card, and thats a 7970 and that too is around £350-400, which doesn't match the capabilities of the 680.

But a 670 is around £290-360 again cheaper than its AMD counterpart.

So not sure what planet you are from to say Nvidia is insane prices :P

@OP - Try either the Geforce 660 or 670, either one of the 6 series cards can get you a free Assassin's Creed 3 also (if it is older stock for a lesser price you can still get Borderlands 2).

    @DABhand

Thanks guys, so a 660/670 i can get them for a reasonably nice price $298 down the road from me. Is there any games at the moment which would warrant a new motherboard for some ddr3 ram?

is that $298 for a 660? And if your doing a new graphics card I'd suggest going the full mile and upgrade all the major components, as a new gpu just doesn't look as good with old equipment surrounding it, and DDR3 RAM is quite cheap these days.

    Hey Semperskulls,

I'd need a new motherboard aswell, but you reckon I may aswell upgrade the lot?

As long as you have a CPU with 2.7ghz per core (quad core is better), 4GB DDR2/3, and a Decent GPU. You are fine.

No need to go splashing out on a new motherboard, CPU, DDR if not needed.
