Pretty annoyed with how late in the game you get these. It would be fun to play the most difficult setting with these from the start. What would be the easiest way to have these abilities and armor from the get go?

Sorry if this is a noob question, pretty new to these game cheat thing

    Thank you!

Many things are gated behind specific game events but a majority of the armors and weapons can be gotten fairly quickly through research and tons of materials.

If you want overpowered, heavily armored characters from the start, rename your soldiers to Sid Meier, Ken Levine, Joe Kelly and Otto Zander. This will give you 4 hero characters with psychic abilities and best equipment there is, but it will disable your achievements.

I was really disappointed in how weak the psi powers were, to be honest. Mindfray deals, what, 5 damage? And has a 2 turn CD as well. Bleh, by the time you get it, it's useless.

Hopefully in a DLC there will be a far more fleshed out psychic tree. I never much liked panic after the one use I had of it (to test it out; really wasn't impressive when the Muton ran around the corner out of LOS) and frankly it could have been so easy to make mindfray get bonus damage according to how high will was, but divide it by like 5 or something.

Eh, they tried to make it as much like the old game as possible, just like carrier command did (two units with modular weapons). In DLCs or xpacs they hopefully add more classes (combat engineer anyone? Auto turrets? UAVs? Tunneling aliens?) and some more skills and weapons (maybe even vehicles for troops to get into, or new map quests like fifty turn horde defense mode or some such).

They're very simplified, that's true. Ethereals can throw psiballs, and only during the final mission can you do vortex. And since the cutscenes show both the psiball and a kinetic throw it would be nice if we could have those.

I actually recall Mindfray doing reasonable damage once I was running through the battlefield with my psi-enhanced all girl squad. Hate the recharge timer though.

Then again, the game is fairly simple in everything, we can only hope a DLC or expansion comes along to flesh it out a bit.

Mind fray doesn't do much damage, however, it boosts attacks agains that unit by others i believe. Also, the panic works just like the sniper weapon disable shot. The following turn that unit will do nothing. Both pretty good.
