Hey guys, I need some help with choosing a console to buy.

    Here's my situation:
I live on an island named Koh Tao in Thailand. Things are quite hard to come by here, very hard. I'm going to Bangkok soon for a few days and need help making a decision on which gaming console to buy.
The tv I have isn't great, just has space for audio and video plugs. Another thing is that old games which I really want (snes etc) are quite expensive. I'm wondering what some of you may think about other possible choices. Maybe roms on wiis or such I dunno.
Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.
    I rock.

i would go for the 360. depending on where you buy, the 360 is generally cheaper than the ps3. i don't really think one console is greatly better than the other though, but i do like the 360 controller much more than the ps3 controller, it seems to fit better in my hands.

as for classic games, i just use my pc to play those and its generally free. there are dozens of free emulators out there for download (like snes, n64, sega genesis etc) and there are hundreds of free roms out there for the most popular games. i got a $10 usb adapter for my 360 controller so i can use it with my pc because for most games i like the controller better than keyboard and mouse. i use controller mapping software called xpadder to map specific keys to the buttons on my controller and it works just as good as having the actual classic game systems.

by the way, good to see ya petray, hope this post helped

I would also go for the 360 (not just because I have one).
If you have the ability to use it with Xbox Live, than it has a pretty good selection of games available for purchase on the marketplace.

Not certain about Xbox Live, because I only own a Wii and PS3, but I know that both systems offer older games via there internet service. These are certainly cheaper than the modern games sold for the system. However, if you are looking to pick up a good system that is meant for you older television, I say pick up the PS One or the PS2. They both have an excessive array of games that can still be found. Unlike the Nintendo games they also seem to last longer as well.
That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.
