the Trainer Instructions on Dark Souls Prepare to Die is not correct. It states that (4) will increase souls, however, it's (3). Early I reported an issue with the Trainer, it's with the instructions.

I was confused too when using the latest trainer too. See, all trainer functions are working as they should. The problem was that the HotKeys were missnumbered. Currently the trainer option list has skipped Numpad 3 causing confusion. The order lists Numpad 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, -, +

Options 1 and 2 function fine, but the numbering skips over 3 which makes all other options seem to not function correctly but really, it's just performing whatever option is assigned to the number. Rather than Numpad 4 for souls, it's actually 3 for souls and 4 for humanity and so forth.

Three questions. Thanks to anyone who answers.

I thought I'd go revisit Dark Souls again before playing 3, but there's some parts I'm not looking forward to doing again so:
1)Does this trainer still work?
2)How exactly do I load the trainer and the game so that I don't get banned. Do I always have to stay offline, or only while the trainer is installed. I want to be completely clear on this part. Never used a trainer before and don't want to screw up my account because of it.
3)I'm really not interested in making the game that much easier...mostly I just want to follow through the story without having to waste hours grinding mindlessly for titanite shards or whatever. I couldn't tell if the trainer helped with that or not. I don't want one hit kills, infinite lives, or weapons I'm not supposed to have (although that save feature looks interesting), just a way to generate enough of the items I need without having to spend hours in the Great Swamp killing slugs.

Thanks again to anyone who reads this and responds. I'm more than happy to pay for a product people put effort into, but I wanna know that I'm getting what I want from it.

#1 - Besides the numbering issue posted above the trainer works fine. Tested on Windows 10 Pro x64 v1703 (Creators Edition) with the Dark Souls Prepare to die Edt from Steam and default Defender + SmartScreen + firewall enabled.

#2 - Run the trainer with admin rights first, then load the game, wait until you are in the main menu and press 'F1'. Activate the trainer options in the game. Most of the times the readme txt file provided with our trainers contents these informations. Sometimes it needs reading on the forums.

I you are in doubt about getting banned run the Steam client in offline mode and prevent the game from accessing the internet via a firewall rule. Or play completely offline with a disabled network adapter. But to still authenticate the trainer you will need an offline key which is membership dependent.
