im actually kinda worried that it will be an unplayable mess riddled with bugs, memory leaks, crash issues, driver incompatibilities and such. Perhaps they should have released an open beta to allow time to fix such issues. Just my thoughts.. Does any worry about this too?

edit: also im confused, which roman era is this? republic? empire? before/after the military reforms? im not too good with roman history, but i pretty sure that during the republic, the units were different. During the empire, and towards the end, they were different too, with massive greek influences into the unit structures and such. I am hoping for legionnaires, tetsudo and those things

You start as a republic before Marius reforms to the army. Its basically how you started the first Rome Total War.

but eventually, in the course of the campaign, the marian reforms will occur? and when does the campaign end? east/west schism? or fall of WRE?

You're just full of questions arn't you ?

In the first game the reforms came about when one of your cities reached a certain size, but since this game has a research tree, Im guessing you have to research it yourself.

As for the end of the campaign you have three ways to victory military, cultural and economic.

You can always choose to continue to play after you've won but probably only to a certain year until the game stops. When that is I don't know.

Edit: On second thought the first game could be played indefinitely, so maybe this can be too.

Does thar mean you have 300 turns to achieve one of the victory conditions or 300 turns until you can't play anymore?

300 turns to win, and also, after 300, there will be no more events
