I'm going to start a new playthrough of Mass effect 1 soon and I was wondering if it was even worthwhile to do all the collection quests in Mass Effect one. I know there is a pay off in doing the asari writing quest along with the Elkoss Combine License and the Gavin Hossle quest but what about the other collection quests?

You will get some additional dialogue and maybe one or two minor quests in ME2 (and probably carrying on to ME3) for completing most of them. I don't think it's worth it simply because the combat in ME1 is very unbearable for me, at least after experiencing 2 and 3.
