My hands have been steadily developing a painful symptom when playing. So far this has only happened with StarCraft and games similar to it (such as DotA). What happens is that after playing about 3 or 4 games my hands start to feel extremely stiff and painful to move (almost like cemented in the home row position for touch typing). My fingers look and feel bent in a very unnatural position and just refuse to move. There's also a faint pins and needles feeling in them (though not as prominent as say a leg falling asleep). I usually finish the match I'm in and quit after that. It's really bothersome when I want to keep playing but it greatly reduced my ability to play matches.

Really hope it isn't anything too serious.

i really hope this isn't serious. and u shud get it checked out real quick. u'll probably need to do some physio. i get these frequent palm cramps in both of 'em. its as if my palms lock up momentarily. as soon as i take a break and stretch my hand and palms out for a while. it gets better.

Or you can just take a break and come back to gaming later.

It's most probably Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, which I'm starting to get as well. Unfortunately the only thing I can think of to combat it is frequent breaks.

Eh, I'd rather not go all "official internet doctor with no degrees and no training whatsoever consultation points elsewhere," but Carpal Tunnel is one of those weird ones. Symptoms are basically just "pain, numbness, you drop stuff uncontrollably" and causes are "well, has something happened to you or someone you know in some time?"

It's associated with RSIs, though. And treated in a very similar way when the causes are similar.
