Can't play this yet, but I can't wait now that I've seen it. I wasn't going to get it because of all these marketing ploys blizzard is making to try to keep their income stable for the inevitable downfall of WoW... (not to mention ruining Starcraft)But it very much seems like the Diablo I remember. Give credit where credit is due.
Piracy has been around forever. If a large corp. says they didn't know how bad it was, or that they are trying to stop it, THEY ARE LYING, and if I may be so bold, means you shouldn't buy their product. Even if it's the way the world works (all corps, all people lie), why are you taking it without a fight?
All these plays recently have been an effort to gain better control of the market by increasing sales (in some rather horrifying ways) and adding more "security."
Understand, piracy is a great thing for these businesses. They can have press releases, sell their game for it's added 'security', and do not forget most of all IT IS FREE ADVERTISING. Wanna know a company that uses this? Microsoft (for the OS's, mainly).
I'm not slinging conspiracy, it's not a rumor, it's fact. Take real business classes and you'll hear the same thing.
Again, not trying to make some conspiracy, but games are my hobby. If the gamers don't start becoming aware soon, our hobby is going to be ruined!
P.S. Some Ex. of the above 'horrifying ways':
-Mass bans for rather petty offenses that do not affect other people in one way or another so that if that person loves the game, they now have to buy another copy. While never guilty of it, I would love if (having been out forever) I could solo all of FFXI with cheats and such. Honestly, I'd probably never play anything else.
-Ever notice how hard for the average person to find a demo for every game they wanna try? PC has it easy, but not consoles. Almost any demo that is given by the maker is limited in some game-breaking way. Why can't you just be allowed to play the first full 15 minutes of the game? Wouldn't that be more appetizing to your wallet than a half-broken demo that tells you you can't do this and that.
-Cheats are disappearing. Why? Now this one is speculation on my part, but I believe it has to do with all this ridiculous 'artistic integrity' crap. Yes, I believe games are art. But don't fix something that wasn't broken. I want my cheats back. While common sense would say they subtract product longevity, I LOVE doing KOTOR runs about every year with cheats, to refresh on how the story goes (or can go... . And if anything (I call CoD to the stand), should cheats be in all games with single player to 'reduce' the playtime so you go buy the latest one as soon as it comes out?
Yeah, I'm sure this belongs somewhere else... but I had a moment of inspiration (or nerd rage, sue me). So if it has to be moved or w/e, that's cool. Sorry for the tl'dr content, but hopefully somebody somewhere got a lil' something from this. If so... Mission Accomplished.
1. Blizzard needing to keep their income stable implies that they are not in a stable position. Their position is extremely stable for the time being and will most likely continue being stable. People who enjoy the game do not get much attention where as many in the negative reception are extremely obnoxious about it. Here's a large community where the game was received well:

2. Companies lying about stopping piracy is such a bull**** statement. If this were true then DRM would not exist in the slightest and all software would be freeware or open sourced (which is not the case). The software repository would be very close to the GNU Manifesto if this statement was true.
3. Blizzard has Starter Editions which pretty much do the same thing that pirating the game would do in terms of free advertising. You get to sample the game and if you like it you go and buy it and if you don't like it, you uninstall it and never speak of it again.
4. Piracy promoting free advertising works when the work in question is under the radar and has areas where the game is virtually undiscovered. Blizzard's games do not fall under this category. I am aware of Gaiman's experiment where he published one of his books for free to see what would happen and his sales increased. This was because it spread by word of mouth and the resource itself was free. Blizzard offers Starter Editions to their games to anyone having an internet connection which fulfills this point (you sample free stuff and buy more of it if you like it which is what Gaiman essentially did).
5. Furthering point #4, Microsoft does not use this model at all. They do not hand you free Operating Systems. Yes you can use Windows without activating it or installing cracks at the cost of a black wallpaper and losing some eye candy. You can use cracks to get around it, but those are not made nor supported by Microsoft (hence your point dis-proven).
6. I have sat through some business classes and have talked with many that majored in business. Piracy is never discussed except in the senior seminar and is seen as a bad thing when you take into consideration the computer scientist's discipline.
Do not spread your pseudo-logic when it has extremely wide holes and based on assumptions.

It would be an idea not to expose it too much to the wide public. I am pretty sure CH is one of the monitored websites concerning in-game cheats/hacks. So far, the ones here aren't that "menacing". Problem is, trainer writes data to specific locations. I doubt Blizzard doesn't/won't check the affected memory areas. Any way to cover your tracks? Threads?

we don't plan to do ANYTHING in this game in regards to trying to 'hide'. if blizzard disapproves of the trainer then they might ask us to stop it or they might kill it. as always, with blizzard, you never know WHAT they might like or not like. we been active since the 15th with no problems so far. we tried to make our trainer SP PRIVATE only. it deactivates itself if you start or join PUBLIC games. so we aren't trying to RUIN the experience for others.

my 2 cents-
I think he meant he can only use the kill game function in the trainer. I tried using it last night and was unable to get the functions to work besides crash the game option it would just do the emotes without saying activated for the trainer.
Same here and all my heroes have been wiped aswell
