    Heya CH-dwellers,

I've been seeing a lot of this game lately, especially in trailers and on steam. And I'm considering buying it.

Would anyone mind sharing their experiences, and how it compares to Freelancer/ darkstar One / EVE.

    Thanks !

It's hard to compare this game to ones you are mentioning, Dark Star, Freelancer are action/futuristic simulator/rpg type of game. Eve Online is MMORPG and I cannot compare to that as I've never played it. While Endless Space is turn based strategy game, one of 4X (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) kind.
So far I love what I see and alphas are pretty playable. I do not regret spending 17 pounds for it. Very good game for those who like TBS games, much better in alpha than Sword Of The Stars II retail version, which was a flop to be precise.

    Ok, that clarifies a lot.

I guess I should compare it to Sins of a solar empire then, or homeworld

It's nothing like homeworld, and sort of like Sins of a Solar Empire in that it's a space-empire game... But it's turn-based, not real time...

In this generation it would be closest to Galactic Civilizations 1 and 2, or Sword of the Stars 1 and 2...

The most fair comparison however is to liken it to the earlier greats like Master of Orion 2, which it is very much akin to, albeit with some of the customization options trimmed out (at least currently, don't know what the future holds) such as custom races, individual planet development with dozens of constructs, and so forth...

Endless Space, if done right and supported post-launch with improvements/expansions by the developer, could be a tremendous title for the 4X genre... If the developer releases a Sofware Development Kit (SDK) to allow the public to further expand and modify the game to their liking, it could possibly redefine the standards of a great 4X game... But that's an awfully big if on a game that's still in alpha-testing

Its essentially like Sins but with Cinematic battles and a pretty big learning curve.

All in All Sins i think is better, but Endless doesnt have any of the lag that Sins have when you get further into the game with alot going on.

The Battles are AWESOME Looking, but at this point you cant direct your ships to attack specific enemies, its basically an all out battle kinda thing with Battle "Cards" that give you options of what your ships do while attacking, like a Card that increases your ships defense, different types of attack and so forth.

The thing that took me a little bit to figure out is the Fleet Sizes, at the start a fleet can only have so many ships in them because each ship type takes a certain amount of command points.

For example, a small ship will cost 1 command point, if the max Fleet Number is 6 you can have 6 of those ships in 1 Fleet, pretty much goes like that. bigger ships cost a max of 4 Command Points, ships range bewteen 1 CP to 4. You can raise this cap by certain Research, the max Fleet Cap is 26, at this point anyway, as its an Alpha it may change at some point.

For the price its currently at its worth it, unlike Rebellion.

This game is a newer version master of orion series at a basic level.....not really happy that it has very little diplomacy and more mass up and kill type.....I use to love to colonize most of the map and win through domination.....They say you can do that with this game, frankly I don't see it.....The talk about trade routes, but I don't see that either.....I also am not keen on how small even the largest universe is.....It's an ok game, but I am not as impressed as I thought I would be

Well, you are kind of playing the alpha/early early beta. Keep that in mind.
