Complain and demand half of my money back / a free item or just accept it?

The story is I like to add all sorts of gadgets and gizmos to my vehicles.

Originally I was quite interested in those Key-less starting systems some of the luxury and new cars have. But the installation was quite complicated and time consuming. So I decided to stick to just a toggle switch and momentary start button. Eventually I found a number of systems which were much easier to install and were not really expensive.

I chose a company which had some positive reviews and no negative ones which I could find.

I ordered the equipment I would need on the 23rd of April total was around $500 USD including $6 USD priority shipping through the USPS. ( I hate using USPS for a bunch of reasons.. But it was the only option). I received conformation of my order shortly after with a note saying shipping process can take 72 hours to start.

8 days go by and I start to worry.. Thinking boy the USPS ****ed up or something. I decided I am going to email them following up about my order and what not.

3 days pass, no email or phone call from the company. I start to get the feeling that I may have been ripped off. Around noon on the 3rd day after my email I receive an email from the USPS on the 11th of May.

The email claims that they have just created the shipping label for my package and are beginning the shipping process.

As a consumer I feel that the company should have emailed me or called mentioning the delay. Hell I could understand if the item was under $50 USD and not getting a hold of me. But it isn't even close to that low of a price.

I kind of want to write a horrible review and send them an email saying I demand one of their mid-range products for free.. $50-$150.

but who are you kidding? ay who are you lying to? you know if they want you
best believe they will find you...

Here is where you had gone wrong like most people.

Shipping Process after 72 hrs does not mean it will be shipped within 72 hours, its another way of saying processing your order within 72 hours.

After that is when they will send out goods, it happens all over the globe.

With car parts and accessories it can take a while before a warehouse gets the goods to be shipped out, so they have to wait first for them to be delivered and then ship out to you, at that point is when your priority shipping comes into effect.

I am all for defending your consumer rights etc, but people do it for nothing, like possibly in this case you are thinking about trying to get extra when it is clear they have done nothing wrong yet.

I'm fine if I do not receive extra, an apology would be nice though. I just find it odd that as soon as I email the company about my product I receive a notice from the USPS.

I understand that a normal company who has thousands of car parts and accessories could take awhile. But this company only deals with a small specific type of accessories.

Though I am in the wrong because I realized they didn't not provide a estimated date of delivery. So I guess I will just keep my mouth shut and use this experience in the future to make better decisions.
