Just to reinforce the "all southerners in the US are yokels/rednecks/hicks/podunks" stereotype, some irony: My mother was literally born about 800 meters from where our suburban house is, and lived in the farmhouse there for about four years before moving. 45 years later, that whole area is just a fenced off field with cows, donkeys, and goats grazing in it.
