we will update this game on STEAM when and if the actual standard patch to that version occurs. We have idea what OPT IN means or why they would even do that rather than just releasing the patch standard. Also, is there some indication why this game from 2012 (4 years old) is patching yet again?

I'd love to see this one updated too. Caliber, this is what they're saying about the opt-in business.
Since there are many code changes in this build, it will be opt-in only until sometime in January.
To Opt-In:
Select Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion from your Steam library list
Right-click and select Properties
Click the BETAS tab
From the drop-down box, select opt-in and click CHECK CODE (hitting Enter will not work)
Click CLOSE and Steam should pick up the new update and install it automatically.

The change Log is pretty large and can be found here:

exactly. we have been avoiding trainers for BETA releases of patches. it's been our policy for years.
eventually they will figure out the problems with their update from people like you playing the patch and doing all the bug reports and quality control for them, and then they will release a final patch which hopefully wont need three other patches to fix what that patch breaks, which has been the history of this game for 4 years.
there are many code changes.. WHY? the game is 4 years old.

Was reading the patch notes and amongst other stuff.. They were using the Stardock DRM which was recently sold off or dissolved.. so I am just guessing that when they decided to patch to remove Stardock, they decided to go ahead and add and fix other things at the same time, plus there seems to be a big push to sale the Ultimate Edition as well.. but thats just my take on it.
ok so I installed this game fresh, only to find that our current trainer is still current with the game.
the version says v1.82.5006 on lower right, but the trainer works 100% here
Our version is STEAM
