On my side, with the 5445 update (the latest one then) :
when I absolutely follow the "procedure" (to turn off a cheat as soon as not needed anymore), and of course, not forgetting pressing / before then end of turn, it work like a charm.
EXCEPT in manual battles (I didn't try to board my troops into a ship for now).
As soon as the "start battle" is pressed, black screen (not even a CTD).

My version is perfectly legal, purchased as a box, but as usual activated by steam (wish I can jump over that).

    Anything about that "symptom"?
    Cheer guys

EDIT : is there no way to avoid any update by steam when the game is freshly installed? A trick or whatever?

Thanks for this info. The CTDs are especially frustrating for this game because it takes so darn long to load.

Is this thread updated for 5806?

It just seems I cannot start a new campaign with trainer activated.
ie starting trainer, starting game, F1 at main menu, starting new campaign, select clan, CTD when loading campaign.

It's not that important, but would be nice to know if anyone else has this problem.

    Also, very nice post here

    @Bedog:
Thanks pal. I haven't played S2:TW for a while now, but I still check back from time to time.
In regards to the issue you're having, first thing's first.
Can you load up the game, enable the trainer at the main menu and then immediately press the / on the numpad to disable the trainer before starting a new campaign, please?

Reason for this is that decisions and in-campaign pop ups tend to cause a CTD with the trainer in its fully on state.
If this works, and you can start a game without a CTD, wait until all the screens have passed, then begin to use the trainer as outlined in this thread. If it doesn't work, double check the game version and trainer are the same, that the game loads up without the trainer running at all, restarts and all the usual suspects.
    Regards.
