my OS (vista) got buggerd after a system reset

i dont have, and cant afford a new OS

as ME3 is my newest game (by date) i checked the back
    and see its XP compatible

if i were to downgrade to XP, would i have any issues?

game operation or new game selection wise, in general?
ie; will XP not support games in the near future

ps. i know this isnt the most appropriate place to ask
but its the only place i know of
to get insightful info, as related to gaming

    thanx much

I reallyyyyy want to say, upgrade to Win7... There are ummm ways to get it cheap/free. None that can be discussed here.

At this point Windows XP is dead technology. However, I think you can play it... Yup According to the Req's you can.

    Minimum Spec:

    OS - Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1, Win 7
CPU: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (equivalent AMD CPU)
    RAM: 1GB for XP / 2GB RAM for Vista/Win 7
    Disc Drive: 1x speed
Hard Drive: 2.5 GB of free space
Video: 256 MB* (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support)
*Supported chipsets: NVIDIA 7900 or better; ATI X1800 or better. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 9300, 8500, 8400, and 8300 are below minimum system requirements, as are AMD/ATI Radeon HD3200, HD3300, and HD4350. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c August 2009 (included)

    Recommended Spec:

    OS: Windows XP SP3/Vista SP1, Win 7
CPU: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (equivalent AMD CPU)
    RAM: 2GB for XP / 4GB RAM for Vista/Win 7
    Disc Drive: 1x speed
Hard Drive: 2.5 GB of free space
Video: AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB or greater, NVidia GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB or greater
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible

I think the standard "recommended" OS for games these days is Vista or above, but most things can be run on XP still, unless it relies on something which was only introduced in Vista/7.

You won't be able to run DirectX 10/11 though. Or not last time I checked anyway, which was, admittedly, a while ago.

He can get the Windows 8 beta, the game works on that.

But don't ask about how to get full versions of an OS the naughty way.

I imagine you can do a clean install. But keep in mind that if you go for Windows 8, it's called a Beta for a reason.

Plus there'll come a time after Windows 8 is officially released that Microsoft will lock Beta copies, forcing you to buy anyway.

Shouldn't use a beta as your main OS. Dual boot if u want to try it out. /boh1
