the answer is offically in the codex fyi.

pretty much anderson NEEDED to become an admiral again for a story so he stepped down and let mr racist ftard become the councelor and omg he actually did a good job without me wanting to punch him this time.

I punched him in ME3... well, kinda. I did something to him

Just so you guys know, you can ready about the council in the codex, it says that Anderson got fed up with all the stress or something and stepped down and Udina took his place.

I don't think this counts as a spoiler since its in the codex that you get at a certain point in the game, not sure where you get it, i was abit put off by anderson not being the councilor, but the codex explained it.

Well to me it's just that. They conveniently made a codex entry instead of fleshing it out in the game itself. It just feels like some backroom deal to force the decision on you. If they played it out in the game I would've felt more in touch with the decision. Now it's more like 'we need udina as councilor, so even if he's not now he is'

Maybe so. But I could never see Anderson staying in that position he is a fighter through and through. Not a political man.

The decision of who was made councilor isn't a "big" decision like others. I mean, you decided who would become councilor at the end of ME1, and then in the beginning of ME2 you could change your mind. Besides, the role of the councilor made no difference what-so-ever in ME2, except that you'd get a different cutscene.

If the citadel and the council had played a larger roll in ME2 I could see the change being rage-worthy, but in its current incarnation, it's a pointless decision with no effect on the game at all.

Anderson resigning and returning to the Alliance military in the face of a Reaper invasion makes perfect sense.
"Remember the good old days when you could just slap Omni-Gel on everything?" - Shepard, ME2

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2

im going back to my previous comment with this post that yeah its not a big deal and bioware prob realised making it an option wrote them into a corner hence why no matter which path you went udina is concilor and anderson is admiral where he TBH belongs

It says in one of the codex entries that Anderson resigned and Udina took over, I recommend listening/reading that entry for some details, the voice over doesnt say all thats in there I assume because of choices made.
