I'm using Windows 8 Preview. As soon as the trainer goes to authenticate, it crashes. Everyone I have tried, crashes.

It appears that something has changed between the Dev Preview and the Consumer Preview. Trainers worked fine in DEV, but crash at authentication on Consumer. We'll look into it when we have a chance. Most likely this is something that will be fixed by MS before the actual product is released. Probably some overzealous new security feature of IE10 not playing nice.
You might try using an offline key, disabling the network/internet connection and running trainer as admin.

I never knew you could use an offline key? That's awesome. Trying it now.

Oh, I found it. Doesn't work though. I'm using WDP 8102, actually checking out the Consumer version now. I got the key, put it in a folder with the trainer, and still crashes when it goes to authenticate. I might be doing something wrong, but I did unplug my inet, as well.

apparently the new consumer version is different than the developer version we tested on a few months ago then (!)
our trainers worked without incident on the developer version in January.
sigh-
i can look at this later.
however, if this is true, then a LOT of our trainers (in fact ALL OF THEM until this point) would have to be recompiled to work. this is literally THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of trainers..
i dont have my windows 8 testing computer at this location, so it might be a couple days before i can report anything
