I read somewhere that the Prothean squad mate was going to look a lot like the collectors, so what I wanna know is have BW decided to change the look of the Protheans from the statues we've seen to a similar appearance in their form as Collectors, or is he a Collector turned good? It's probable that not all of the Collectors were on the base when you blew it/killed everything on it, so there may be more somewhere in the galaxy, but what would that mean? That the Reapers control over the Collectors was as flimsy as a signal of some sort installed into the base?
This is what bothers me. He looks very much like a collector from the one poster-shot I saw. But the blurb about him is he's been in stasis for 50,000 years. Those squid bearded statues, as well as flashes from Shepard's visions are what the Protheans looked like 50k years ago (at least by our standards of art and culture we try to represent the human form as realistically as possible in art.) If the Prothean were to awaken from status and look in a mirror, I would think he would wonder where the hell he got this beetle head from. As Mordin said in ME2, it must have taken thousands of years to genetically alter the Proth's into the Collectors. How did our Proth friend de-evolve or genetically change while in a 50k year statis pod?

Or... just throwing this out there for sh**'s and grins. When the Collector General in the Collector base said "releasing control" before we blew the base up... maybe that control was given to someone else... some smart collector sent to infiltrate Shep's crew. But then again, if that were the case it wouldn't be DLC, that would be a main story plot. I just hope the writers shed some light on this radical appearance change. Oh well, if BioWare's DLC team didn't bother to play ME1/ME2 and see what the Proth's looked like 50K years ago, maybe I can just avert my eyes when he's on screen and pretend.

One of the developers said the Prothean statutes and images were meant to be ambiguous as they were not sure what the final Prothean appearance would be. They then used the collectors in ME2 to develop into what the Protheans originally looked like.

EA is the anti-Midas touch company. Everything they touch turns to garbage.

When I hear "Prothean" and think of an ancient race, I for some reason think of a clean-cut sophisticated and not monster like species... Not what they designed it as.

I did get the impression that somehow BioWare were trying to avoid giving image to the whole Prothean appearance.

It will be interesting to see how they design them.

Also I always got the impression that the statues weren't that realistic. I mean they kept reminding me of the Smoker in L4D.
    Ayy lmao

I accidentally saw a pic of him. He does look a lot like the Collectors, but not quite the same as well. Kind of skinnier, the head isn't as big, etc.

I do not want it to be human like. That will just be boring.

Nah, he's definitely not human looking. Humanoid, like the Collectors, but not remotely human-ish in features.
