X3: Albion Prelude Message Board  

Ok please help me here.

I've played the other X3 games, never actually finished them, mainly because there's no real defined goals.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy flying around the universe like the next person. but for the life of me can no figure out the point??

Can someone (after years of playing X3) explain to me the whole point, storyline and how to get started in this game.

Both X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude have story based starting positions.

For example, starting as a Terran commander in Albion Prelude has you go through a Terran story line.

Follow the link. There you'll find links to each of the games in the X Universe, where you'll find a brief synopsis of the plots.

Oh ok, me being the loner I am, I've always started as a pirate, or anonymous Argon.

So if I start as a Argon Peacekeeper, or Terran Commander I'll get a proper storyline.

The others are for "making a name for yourself" type game play??

only thing i could find is a survival guide for albion

Starting a custom game will throw you out into the universe as a random nobody, where you can do what you like, including starting each of the storylines once you get enough rep with the particular factions.

Starting one of the others will begin the game at the beginning of one of the storylines, such as Terran Defender will start the Terran storyline immediately, etc.

actually, that's incorrect. The main plot (storyline) for each faction is completely disabled in the custom start.

Also if you look at the info it should say if the start has a storyline built into it. Something like

Name
Age
Race
etc

Storyline: Enabled/Disabled

Finsh the other x3 games before doing this unless you want to have no idea what's going on.
