Regarding the Cheats, Cheat Codes & Hints.

Does altering the save game prevent Steam achievements? Is the game even that sophisticated in its memory management? Can I just load a previous save where a party member hasn't died to try again, and not worry about having to edit my save to give me an "edge"?

Did you really think I'd wait six months to start playing the game again until someone replied?
