    This topic is duplicate of my post from this www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=109406&titleID=17023 thread.

    The game stores savegames in sqllite 3 format. You can edit it with any sqllite editor (Firefox Addon - SQLLite Maganer for example). The format is pretty simple and for now i was enable to edit money, techs(not fully, need update on this) and so on.

    The game stores saves in
    "system_drive":\"Users|Documents and Settings"\"UserName"\Saved Games\Sword of the Stars II\Saved Games\"profile_name"\

    As always - sorry for bad english.

    Here is some more info for everyone who wants to try this out. I found my save games in Windows 7 at:
    "system_drive":\Users\"UserName"\Saved Games\Sword of the Stars II\Saved Games\"profile_name"\

    go here:
    addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/

    Next type in "SQLite Manager" in the search bar area on the top right of the page. Install it, restart firefox, and then run SQLite Manager from the "Tools" menu by clicking on the SQLite Manager option.

    Before you do anything, make a copy of the savegame that you're trying to edit, in case you screw up or something.

    Now, once it starts up, click on "Database" menu and then "Connect database" option. Now, go to where your saved game is at, the file won't show up though, since it has a different file . ending, so choose the "All files" list option to the right of the "Filename:" field in the window, the file should show up now, select it and click open.

    In the left side window, there is an "Master Table(1)" table and a "Table(83)" table, under the "Table(83)" table list there should be a "players" sub table, click on the triangle to the left of it to expand it. Now, in the "name" field should be the nation name you named yourself with, click on that row, and then arrow key to the right until you select "savings". Now double click it and a window should pop up, scroll down to the "savings" field, which should be "10. saving (NUMERIC)". Next, double click the value in it, and then it should allow you to change the value, try to keep your new savings value under 1 billion, just to play it safe. Press enter, then click OK, A few prompts may/will appear, just say yes/OK. Now all you have to do is click on the "Database" menu and choose "close database" and you are done, load up the saved game in game and you will be filthy rich now.

    Figure I would add on to this. I have found if you do a little detective work you can turn your planets into industrial giants using this. First off, go to the player section mentioned above in sqlite and find your homeworld ID, mine was 2465. Using this you can then go to the planets table listing, input that number in the search field while in the data tab and you will have your homeworld. In this field you can edit your Biosphere, Resources, Size, and most importantly you can see the exact suitability a planet needs to suit your race.

    Using that suitability number in the search field after changing what you want for your homeworld will bring up all your other planets, as well as planets that may belong to another faction thats the same race as you. If you are like me that wont be an issue, however if you do have that problem there is another way.

    Now, if you have more than one faction of the same race, or if you want to search for a planet that is not terraformed to your race's suitability we can do it another way. First look at the name of the star, assume it's name is Bob. Now we open up another table called orbital objects. In this table's data tab simply find the name of your star, Bob, and the planets will be called something like Bob 1, or in the case of a moon Bob 1a. When you have the planet you are looking for copy the id# down, not the parent id mind you, and search for that id # in the planets table. You now have the planet you want to modify.

    Hope this helped out, gonna look into adding whole new planets as well if I can, but that looks like it is pretty damn complicated. If anyone figures that out please let us know here as well

    In the table "players", in your row (unless you want to give the enemy quite the advantage) you edit the column "rate_government_savings" to the desired value.

    As a side note, the other "rate_..."-columns can also be edited for the desired effects (like fast research, colonization etc)

    When I change rate it crashes my game. My income for next turn becomes "-Infinity"

    Not sure why.

    I should probably mention that you shouldn't change it to anything above 10. I set it to 9, turn zero with 1.000.000 savings, to test the impact. Next turn I had almost 12.000.000, so don't overdo it
