Shogun 2: Total War Message Board  

Yesterday my computer downloaded updates for Windows 7 OS(64 bit). I am presently unable to get access to my game and I have reinstalled it twice. If I do get access, it freezes when I use the Control + L combination, forcing a restart of the computer and game. Any ideas or resources you could point me to. Currently when I attempt to launch the game, it says it is unavailable. Thank you. 🤔

Also restarting steam seems to help out.

I think I found this under properties of the game in the steam window. I just got it verified and will be testing it out shortly. Hope it works. Thanks for the suggestion.

I only have the game partially working now. When I start in Shogun 2 Campaign mode, the game shuts down automatically when I hit the end turn button. This is really frustrating and disappointing. I had expected better. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and recached. This is totally hosed. If someone knows anything more please contact me. 🤔

Have you started a new game to see if it is a saved game problem? Sometimes if you crash and it's in the same season as your recent save game it will corrupt your last save. Don't reinstall it again, just verify the game cache and that should fix any files that might have been corrupted upon the last reinstall. Also try starting at a different save, a way previous one, I tend to save after every 2 years for 2 reasons.
1) Try out different strats.
2) For the very same reason you posted this.
Never, ever, save a game if the trainer is running and always turn off trainer before ending turn. I know we all forget sometimes, that's why I save often.

This new trainer must be programmed differently. I found that most of the time it works if i push the "/" on the number pad, deactivating the entire trainer. Before I had experienced like 4 different clans all forcing exit from the game when the end turn button is pressed. I still have sporadic difficulty with going from saving a game and either starting a new one or exiting to windows. It is also very difficult to use the Control + S or Control + L features. Sometimes they work and sometimes they cause freeze up of the game on my computer. For the most part the game is working for me. I hope this glitch will get addressed and fixed. Thanks for the input. I will post more as I see what happens. Again for the most part it is working, but not like before. Maybe I just don't know all the subtle nuances.
