i gave up on the trainer and am just using the cheats made for the game, but the game still crashes on me far more often than I'd like.

The game still crashes when i don't use the trainer, but when i use the cheat codes. Very frustrating. I wonder if this crashing is only used with the Steam Engine?

I've been having crashes on the DLC more often than the actual base game, like PWizard stated make sure it's the the DLC that you are playing. It seems like certain script elements cause the game to crash in the DLC. I'd suggest to not use the trainer if you have problems OR save often and if it keeps crashing at a certain point, try and play without the trainer for a couple of minutes AFTER the crash normally happens.
