The open beta people were mass invited to was only chapter 1 yes, but there was a closed beta with movies and all chapters available.

I find it funny people are complaining that it was a demo, people upset that they didn't get the full game nearly for free?

D3 is superior to D2, so much more to it, people are just crying like babies cause they didn't get the full thing to play.

I had the closed beta. It actually was only the first half of Act I and no cinematics available.

    Your bitterness, I will dispel

It's WoW with a Diablo feel, a messed up Auction House, more demanding graphics, and you have to pay blizzard extra cash on whatever you sell...and single player, that's just a laugh: A game with a single player mode where you can't store your save files on your own computer? How many people have been waiting for this game for over a decade now, only to see that it's a mockery of what it could have been?

Doesnt sound like the closed beta, there was people who tested the game fully, previous people who have debugged beta's for blizzard in the past as well as experienced people in game development who signed up.

Thats what was talked about in the forums etc a couple of months back.

Just because its online and has an auction house does NOT make it WoW, its not the first time this has happened, Assassin's creed 2, Starcraft 2, the list can go on more... but people don't realise this is a compromise over the warez issues that are going on, if you have some of the game online... it makes it harder for the groups to release the game, it takes them time to develop an emulator that will deal with all the online parts and saving data.

I am a bit fed up hearing this "WoW" excuse now, because it is no where near WoW that the excuse is almost the greatest joke on earth.

Here's an entire playthrough of the closed beta by Day[9] (and Blizzard loves him):

Yeah they do like team Liquid.. I will have to find the forum post again about the discussion a group had on the cinematics and the length of the first chapter... I remember it from a couple of months ago, and it was making everyone cry in the same thread as they were dying to play it and begging for keys and stuff :P

what bugs me, and what people don't realize, is that you purchase the game, but in reality you don't really own it, as many people who purchased world of warcraft realize. i have 3 separate wow accounts. over the last 6 years every one of them has been shut off by an adminstrator. most of the time it was for people trying to log into my account i suppose using bots or something to try and brute log and pass but some of the times it was for against EULA policy this or that which when you contact them, they cannot say exactly what it was or how they flagged you. for instance you buy 2 or 3 things in the auction house using gold you have stockpiled up for the last 4 years when BoE gear becomes available. suddenly you are flagged as a gold farmer or some such thing. you have to call them and then they look at your history and the logs and can see that you were actually legit. but i wonder how many people got banned or whatever for a blizzard reason that was incorrect. in other words, you pay for the game, but your characters and all the effort and time you put into the game is stored on a Blizzard server, and you are at their whims. if the server is down, so are you. if they think you did something illegal or inappropriate, you could be banned and lose your character. it's totally understandable with something as multiplayer as WoW is, to some degree. but a supposed single player game where your character is locked away on a separate server... the game will probably sell like crazy, but some of the nostalgic people who actually played diablo 1 and 2 years ago don't like this, and for good reason.
