There is feline dialysis, but I think it is expensive, dunno why since its practically the same equipment that humans have to use, but of course more delicately for cats due to size etc.

IIRC it is called Peritoneal dialysis, it is not painful to the cat and is easy to do.

I am surprised your vet never recommended this. Suggest a different vet.

There is transplants for pets also, perhaps look into that also.

With one kidney and a bit of dialysis he may pull through, but it will have to be done very soon of course, without kidneys there is no urine making process to clean out his system.

Like DABhand suggested go to a different vet. Search for an animal clinic as well. Hopefully he can get through it.
Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

This is why I haven't got myself a pet yet, if something happens I would more than likely not be able to afford the vet bills and would probably resort to lending money from some shady characters.

All the best for your cat though, keep us updated.

I know in the UK some vets allow a payment scheme, so you can pay in monthly installments.

Not sure where the OP is from, but a message to the OP, I know it may sound cruel at first but if transplants are not an option I would suggest putting him to sleep, at least he wont have to go through the pain he may be suffering.
