restarting did always help, I finished this twice already.

PC version here and I didn't run into a single bug - played the entire game through the day of release. The issue the original post mentions didn't occur for me. Tapping the button three or four times was all it took.
I did use a DualShock 3 though, setup with MotionInJoy to emulate an Xbox 360 controller. Performance wise though, the game was buttery smooth with all settings maxed and FSAA at full. Game never crashed or hitched.

Totally have the same issue, trainer on or off I eventually get nabbed by the plant. The drop shop right before it always land me a level or 2 above the plant level like I have ended up in no-clip mode, first bugs I've had on the game. Retail version btw.
All of you not having bugs, great but that isn't the norm.
