It would be best to keep them out and disinfect your ears by keeping them as clean as possible. Better to have to get them re-pierced than to have some weird bacteria growing in your ear. If it's not clearing up even after leaving them out, you might have to go to the doctor to get some anti-bodies (I had to once after stepping on a toothpick and having half of it get stuck in said foot. It got all infected to the point where my dad and I had to go take a trip to the ER for anti-bodies).
