Well pretty much everything is covered...

Only game I can suggest is Total Annihilation

Its a wee bit old (like AOE old) but at the time it came out it was way ahead of anything else I could find.

And I still find things about it which are superior to modern day RTS games.

You can build a really strong base with loads of rocket and plasma and laser towers etc and sit there through wave after wave of enemy assaults (highest kill count I recall was over 10,000 in one skirmish which lasted about 5 hours)

Plus it has the best resource system I've come across, it monitors your output and input resource wise and you only go down in resources if your output gets higher than your input, very handy

Sounds like a game I will have to check out as well.

played starcraft a year or so ago when sc2 was announced tho i dont own it myself didnt like it much due to very outdated graphics altho i liked its story so only did the campaign.
and OMG how could i forget total annihilation that was like my first rts i owned i played that game for sooo long!
i guess because its in a cd case style thing so its in my cd rack
but that was an awsome game wich made me buy supreme commander (1) because that game is based on it and has almost every aspect still in it but then bigger maps and updated look although i dont know if id say for the better... SC2 though crushed everything the SC(and total an) game stood for! for which ill never forgive square-enix!!!

but i guess i own every good rts then...

guess that is something that cant be avoided when you mostly play rts :P (altho i like most games(except zombie ****))

thanks so far tho played CoH and it made my card heat up crazy (110C). still good game tho so when i get my new fan system i hope i can play it more!

finished all their stories and played the skirmishes for so many hours that i want something new
especially because a lot of those games are a bit older (at least the good ones are) and the newer ones all thought they needed to change everything that made rts good (base building) look at dawn of war 2 you have a main base thing where you have to upgrade it 2 times to have access to all units and that's it so no research no building tank yards or barracks or something like that just pure unit production and Supreme commander lets you build a bit more but also changed the series so much that its not so fun anymore.
and that is my problem at the moment

Well, there is an alternative to new games... if you haven't done so already, try some mods

There are loads and loads for Total Annihilation and Battle For Middle Earth I & II and I'm not sure about other games but theres probably one or two more that you can mod as well

This way you can squeeze just a bit more unique gameplay out of the games

Perhaps you should try a other genre?
RPG perhaps if you like tech-tree and evolving things

or a FPS if you want a total different approach
and also . play online , it extents the games lifetime by so much
sure you will get owned at first , but pratice makes perfect

well i play almost all sorts of game but rts is still my favorite since the moment i played total annihilation on my pentium 2.
but i also play fps and rpg even some simulation games and i play a couple of mmo's (few free and sto).
but the game companies only are releasing fps and rpg's (which are also changing with more fps elements often).
so that's why i decided to ask the best gaming community out there because i figured i doubt i know all games out there .
(still waiting for fable 3 on pc! )

but thanks everyone for the input and i hope this thread is useful for more people that love rts games and see a few names here they don't know
