There is actually LESS content on the mainpage than previously as we eliminated several sections (like featured members content, etc). Page is actually about the same length as before, depending on how large the actual UPDATE was. This way the mainpage will ALWAYS be the same length regardless of the update size.
On the color scheme, if you look closely, you will see that it is actually very uniform. Site is broken down into 3 distinct sections, alternating between forefront (darker) and background (lighter).
LOL, looks I got under the illusion of a longer page. Was just about to edit that but you replied already.
And about the color scheme, I do agree with you somewhat. But it does feel a little odd on suddenly arriving upon a white patch after having toured through that dark gray patch of trainer/review/etc updates.

I somewhat agree. I just think that the dark color for the updates is just a little to dark. Maybe lighten it a little bit.
A lighter color loses the pop and doesn't stand out enough against the dark background that it's against. Trust me that we tried several different color combinations before deciding on this one.
Sorry to stretch the same issue a little more, but putting a light shade of gray over the white patch would make the site attractive. This is totally my personal opinion.
