I'm on my 2nd play-through of ME 2 and my wife & I were just wondering if there are similar games to it, or rpg's with romanticism, or storyline as good as ME 2.

we've already played Dragon Age origins, and ME 1. Looking for something similar...

    Thanks for input.

There aren't many RPGs out there with great story lines in them. An older game does, KOTOR, which is one of the best, but no romance to mention. Fallout 3 has a decent story, but no romance. But the game is very suggestive if you have the right perks. The Witcher is another good RPG with a decent story and can be had real cheap.

As far as your ME2 having a good storyline, it does, but it doesn't compare to ME as that was the real story. ME2 basically carries it on somewhat and is more into squad building and being a shooter than real story telling. ME may be the best story in a game I have ever experienced. I am hoping that Mass Effect 3 is awesome with the story.

Yes I enjoyed 1, but the gameplay got tedious for me, the constant landing in planets and doing the same thing over and over. That took away some of the fun for me. As far as the story goes, while it did keep me wanting to play more and more, i found the characters in 2 had more depth. Their stories, their loyalty missions, even the conversations are more um exciting? idk if thats the right word. But in 2 you can actually interact with your crew, and even have a drink with the Dr. The missions are over when you finish them, which i love. The scanner is a lot better way of gathering resources. Spoiler:
The fact that you get to play as Jeff (joker) another thumbs up.
Overall 1 was great, 2 blew our minds. I hear 3 will be even more exciting as it is the finale, and I believe your relationships from 2 carry over (thank god, as i feel that was a major slap in the face from 1 to 2) after all you did sacrifice one of your team to save that special person, and then all you get is a hug and a F*$% off. Anyway I'm ranting.

I have heard of The Witcher, and I think i might check it out. I did try playing KOTOR Last night and the polygonal characters kinda threw me off, so im gonna try 2 see if i have better luck there.

    Anyway thanks for the reply.

You could also try Oblivion, which is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. But your PC needs some power to handle the game's highest settings. Huge gorgeous world in that game. Story is OK, but there are so many places to go and see and so many quests, that you'll be busy for nearly a 100 hours. Character models and looks are average.

Yes ME planet scouring was bad, but not as bad as planet scanning in ME2, which was tedious at best. At least you could land on the planets and do soemthing. But like I said, the characters in two were more about building them and interactions than it was with the story overall. The story in ME was engrossing when you listened to all of the conversation intently. And while I loved how they trimmed the sub-menu down with fewer weapons, ammos and armor in 2, I didn't like how they took away the more customizable aspect of building your characters powers down to fewer categories. They both have their strengths though. I rate them equally

ME was decidedly longer if you wanted the story, otherwise one would miss it just to get through it.

You can try Dragon Age II when it comes out, no doubt it's going to have a amazing storyline and romance options. As stated above, Oblivion is also a fine choice. There are also tons of oblivion mod in regards to additional storyline and tons of new romanceable companions to add to whats already in the game. Which goes nicely with Oblivion's great game-play.

Unfortunetly there are not very many choices in regards to either great storyline/romance games. BioWare pretty much sets the standards with Dragon Age and Mass Effect. My suggestion however if you are interested is maybe looking into modding, you could create a mod project for DAO that adds new companions with full based storyline and additional content, maybe even voiced? Can ask your wife if she'd like to voice some of the female characters. Maybe even get some help from other mod developers as that kinda project is no easy task. Just a suggestion.

I believe there is also simular mods already available at either social.bioware.com/ or www.dragonagenexus.com/ however they are not voiced. So if you can deal with a robot voice or none at all, they are great alternatives to expanding DAO.

+1 If space RPG's are concerned.

If you are looking for great RPG's but are not choosy about the setting then I recommend:-

    1) Fallout 3
    2) Oblivion (If you haven't really played it then you don't know the real essence of RPG games)
    3) Dragon Age: Origins
    4) Risen (Though it is very slow in the start)

There are many RPG's available in the market. Just google.

Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

Risen should be waaaay down on the list... like bottom.
So far I'm afraid I've haven't seen a RPG as worthy as ME.
It's just an excellent game, the story might seem cliché to some, but to me it was a something really worthy of remembering. I mean the number of people that liked the game opposed to those that didn't like it is comparing the sun to the moon.

I remember Alpha Protocol had some romantic elements, it's story wasn't really bad and it was interesting the way you had to carefully choose your words for the right people.

But having a taste of ME is like driving a Porsche Carrera for some time and then trying any other RPG is like returning to some compact car that hardly goes ninety.

    Ayy lmao
