I'm a long time Final Fantasy fan, kinda wish they made part 7 with Cloud on the PS3 but oh well. I saw it at Wal-Mart today. How is the game?

well the game is not out yet still in closed beta. I am trying to get a beta key at this moment. Just google or search on youtube for gameplay trailers - I think it should be a decent time killer. Also gotta love the "it is ok to cheat on single player but if you cheat on multi-player you are a scum piece of !@#$" attitude / political agenda that everyone seems to have on these boards... Hypocritical in my honest opinion...

The Game is currently getting remade. It's not even the same game as the previously released version. So far I've been in the Closed Beta, but the new version will be released soon. August 27th 2013. So far in Beta the game is Amazing. You can play every class on the same character. You can have guild houses, personal houses. Dungeons and endgame content that changes every time you run it. They are also pulling in some of the bosses and characters from past Final Fantasy games and tying them into this world where they can and only if the story fits.. so it won't be weird. There is also a really good crafting system. The game offers lots of content, I would suggest looking it up on youtube.. the new version is called A Realm Reborn.

Couldn't resist answering this even if it is old lol. well the game release is the end of this month and in these 3 days its on the last Phase of the closed beta and I played it a little when it was 1.0 and been playing a little on alpha and beta. The game is unique in a way and they did lots on the game that you can always find something to do and not lack any fun/entertainment.

I still love the older FFXI ~ before they made it really easy and annoyingly stupid lol but FFXIV ARR is good

Now that the game is out and having played the original release I can firmly say this game is now 100 time better than it was. The game recently come out so it has a few hiccups like the occasional lag spike (server side). The game plays very much like WoW and is beautiful. The gameplay is quite nice since they remade the whole thing essentially. I have one problem but it isn't really a deal breaker, the mapping system they used is just horrid. It takes time to get used to and even though you have trouble using it I still can't get used to it. All in all the reviews of A Realm Reborn are spot on in comparison to the original release.

So after playing the game for a couple months now I have to say, this is the only game that could peel my cousin and I from WoW. The storytelling and amazing visuals in this game continue to stun me even though I have been through every area. Having gotten to max level on one character I am currently working on my second. One of the really cool things that Square Enix did with the game is allow you to make one character if you wanted and level every class/job in the game the max level. So no more having to make more than one character stuff, that is all in the past. It's sort of like Dungeons & Dragons dual-class system but on steroids. Another cool new feature that is coming in the new patch is Free Company (aka guild) housing and eventually player housing. You literally can build a custom made home, furnishings and everything. Square Enix has, in short, made one of the most sincere apologies ever by nearly tossing the entire old game out the window and redoing it. I have heard some naysayers and even had some Blizzard Entertainment employees try to talk me out of playing the game but the old saying "don't knock it until you try it" really does apply to this game. It's real hard to leave WoW behind but this game is superior in so many ways. I conclude that this game is certainly a game changer and will only get better in the days and months to come.

ESO is still in beta. However, since the game is different than Final Fantasy 14, I would say that the project for Skyrim online was pretty good. As for the game Elder Scrolls Online, I would not really recommend playing it unless I could mod the game the way I was actually able to mod the PC version of Skyrim with all the different armor/character meshes and play the game with all the mods that I have installed with all my friends.

But since I'm getting a little off subject, as a veteran MMO player, I would have to say that besides the minor kinks that FFXIV had on the initial release, that the game is better than just "fairly decent". Just imagine the graphics of either Tera Online, or Guild Wars 2, but with a more or less traditional play style of an MMORPG. The thought of having the ability to do every single class on a single character is a solid, yet hard concept to grasp. However, after a few hours of playing either a Disciple of War/Magic, whether taking the roll of the healer, damage dealer, or tank, the game is fairly easy to play (depending on the player's level of patience).
