so once again im in the middle of a game 16 hours in and BAM new patch that messes up the trainer once again. I wish steam would hold patch's till they have a bunch of the patches together rather than every few hours we get a new patch. so now on hold till a new patch comes out for the trainer. The sick irony.

Why are you blaming Steam? Bethesda/Obsidian Made the patch! Steam just added it because they were asked to.

Right click the game in the library, when you first download the game.Click on Properties then update tab then under automatic updates, change it to "Do not automatically update this game"

The game will not automatic update anymore.

Wait... you're mad cause they're fixing the stuff that's broken and it makes your trainer stop working? Here's a lil thought... think of those times as the game telling you to TAKE A BREAK... Cal is really really good and really really fast. I don't think I've ever seen it take him more than an hour or 2 tops and usually much much faster...

He's blaming steam because when he plays a game through there he can't choose when to patch, whereas with a non-steam game he would be able to decide when would be best time to patch, and so would be able to wait untill an updated trainer came out that matched the version patch he wanted to run.

It's not the patch that's the problem it's that he's lost control of the overall process.

And yes, I agree, steam sucks, and I won't play a game that I can only access through it.

In fact, I won't play any game which includes any superfluious process which has no direct benefit to me.

I can see both sides, for the most part Steam does what it needs to do just fine, there are times it gets my G.O.A.T. too but I look at the benefits I get from having this service:

    1) It allows me to sync both my machines with the games I've purchased from their store.

    2) Many games also provide the Steam Cloud for synching game saves and such, not as useful for me but it does provide one other benefit, I categorize my games and it saves this information, including the shortcuts I created for non-Steam games.

    3) Getting half price games and specials, back in July or the August they ran a half-price sale on Just Cause 2 and all the DLC content, got everything for less then $30.00

Oh I get both sides as well. Personally I hate steam... especially customer support and their damned canned messages... You guys are right that they've got good things and bad. Given a choice I'd rather *NOT* use Steam... Then again D2D is about 100x worse and I'm not sure they even have customer support anymore. I've got 1 ticket open still from like June when I bought my hubby a game from there...

As for Fallout New Vegas... it didn't matter WHERE they decided to distribute from, it's one of those titles/series that is a MUST OWN. So I really DO get everyone's take on it.

With Steam I would like to now why are you guys are buying your games in there shop instead of buying the retail version in a store or online via amazon etc.?

At least for Germany the games in the steam store cost as much or more then outside in a store or amazon. So when buying the retail version I got a DVD, handbook and not just a stupid digital download which takes time.

Well just a question but perhaps in other countries the digital version is cheaper?
