I just lost 2 hours of gameplay, but some people have lost everything.

Currently, if your running the game through steam, auto/quick save is broken, it will not work and all that will happen is you'll lose your save.

According to everything i've read manual save still works, and luckily, you CAN restore what you've done assuming you haven't gone back and done new saves.

Here is the link to the steam forums with some help on this issue:
    forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1522475

But to go over again, Auto/Quick save IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT WORK. Manual save is the only thing that works.

You might want to add a YMMV tag to that info, because I have had no problems what-so-ever with either the auto or quick save... hell, they have helped me out on more than a few occasions, such as getting ambushed by a couple Giant Radscorpions while i was still level 1 or 2

Guess I'm used to manual save slots and always do this so I don't lose too much if the game crashes on me....

    Nice find too.

@7ru7h: You've lucked out then, or if you don't have steam cloud on maybe it never effected you. Though regardless this is happening to a massive amount of people, if you go on gamefaqs, steam, or any fallout forum you'll see lots and lots of complaining about it.

@BigBodZod: I used to be the same way, i used nothing but manuals in oblivion, and same with fallout 3 at the start. Today i was mostly just using quick save since i was using the cheats anyway so i didn't have to worry about dying. But what got me was the game randomly crashing, so because i did that i lost everything i had done.

Now if i saw these posts, i could of gotten it back with the backed up saves, but i started testing it on my own and lost everything.

go to your New Vegas save folder, which is usually in the My Document folder. There you will find a file with a .fos.bak extension. You might have to allow for extension to be shown in your file options. Those .bak files are the autosaves and quiksaves, which do not show up in game. Rename them as something else, and remove the .bak extension so it becomes "name.fos", now the saves will show up. However manual saves are still recommended until they patch this up. Trust me, i found out the hard way.

Not sure what your thread is talking about....quicksave works fine for my copy and I had it before it came out on steam...
