Unfortunately those lists of released names of romanceable characters in the games does not list what sexes they characters will date. I can guess that the pirate will date both, but can't be sure and I wanted that spelled out for me. Oh well. xD
There's Isabela, that Elven woman you can date..the Dailish one, and the widow human woman you meet in the beginning of the demo, so it's hardly just one woman. There might even be more women when the game releases.

According to DA Wiki, there are only four romance-able characters in DA2, just like there were only 4 in DA:O, they are as listed.
Female characters:
Merrill (Elf)
Isabela (bi-sexual, as expressed in the demo)
Male characters:
Anders
Fenris (Elf)
I am uncertain as to which of the male characters is bi-sexual.

Sorry for the confusion, I knew there were only four people you can romance, I just don't know which sexualities they are. For all I know, they might ALL be bi, but if I had to guess I'd say Merrill and Anders were straight, and Isabela and Fenris are bi. Isn't that something? They'll probably do another bi male elf. xD
My second part of my comment was edited in because someone said there was only one female character in your party, but that's wrong.
To be honest, i'm not sure who i will romance for my Male warrior Hawke, those females can't be the only ones that male hawke has to romance. There has to be other females to romance.

Why?
There were only two in Origins you could romance (if you were straight or gay). And I am not talking about the little side cheathappenss one could have with Gheyna or Isabela as they were not real romance options. Maybe they will add the "cheathappens" value with other characters in DA2, whether you are straight, bi or gay is up to the player's choice..

Technically, you're not entirely correct. I believe if you were human noble origin in the first, you could marry Anora if you put her on the throne, although she'd really have the power I think.
