Game is great, and I could not wait to play it. But when it was installed I had nothing but problems with it. From day one. Even after the patch came out. I wrote an email to the technical support departement for Civ 5. They said that the respond time was 72 hours. Now it's been a week since I wrote the email. But still no respond. So yesterday I wrote another email to the tech depp. The question is easy. Why do my game freez up? While playing it?

    What are your computer specs?
EA is the anti-Midas touch company. Everything they touch turns to garbage.

Numerous patches, and this game still freezes/crashes on me. It is not the trainer, it's the game. Setting some units to automate crashes the game. Issuing units long travel orders crashes the game. Looking at the screen funny might even crash this game. I have tried numerous fixes (ie windowed mode; trying DX9 v. DX10/11; minimizing graphics settings; enabling AA in DX10/11; eliminating the intro movie). Being unable to find a fix for this is totally making me lose my mind.

    Kevinpiatt,

How do you turn off the intro movie. I try the escape key & does nothing. Thanks for any help.

In order to disable the intro movie, you must edit the "UserSettings.ini" file in "C:\Users\%User Name%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5"

First: back-up your ini file. I always create my back-ups by creating a copy and changing one of the copy's file type to ".old".

Second: open the ini file with a text editor such as Notepad. Within the file you will find the line: SkipIntroVideo = 0. Change the "0" to a "1" and save the file.

The game will now start without any part of the introduction. That said, the game does still need the load time, so be prepared to look at a black screen for a short while... my goes black for about fifteen seconds or so before the games initial menu is available. Hope that helps.
