this is my first civiliztion game and i have no idea what world age does? also what is the best resource setting for big gold income?

Found this on the official civ 5 forums
"world age mostly determines mountains and possible continents distances. The younger the world is, the more mountains it has (no erosion) and closer the continents are. Resource plainly means the amount of resources on the map. (Oil, Uranium, Steel, etc.) Temperature: the higher it is, the more jungles and otherwise tropical area. If its low, there will be tundra and the habitable land is near the equator."
