UPGRADES
Throughout the game, you will acquire upgrades, most
of which you have to pay for (with Hero points), as
well as earn awards for doing various things.
Note! All button combinations are for the
X-Box version of the game.
Combat Upgrades

Combat upgrades are upgrades that give you new abilities
or moves to use while fighting enemies. You can acquire
stuff like a level three punch, powerful moves like
the Earth Breaker Punch, or just very useful moves,
like the ability to sling more than one person in your
web. Combat upgrades available to you are:
Dodge
When you see Spider-Man’s head flash, press B
to dodge the oncoming attack. Available from start of
game.
Counter Flip Kick
After a successful dodge, press X to counter
the attack with a flip kick. Available from start of
game.
Counter Web Slam
After a successful dodge, press Y to counter
the attack by web slamming your opponent. Available
from start of game.
Left Dodge
While dodging, hold left on the left thumbstick
to dodge to the left. Available from start of game.
Counter Elbow
Dodge an attack with the Left Dodge, then press B
to counter with an elbow. Available from start of game.
Counter Web Hammer
Dodge an attack with the Left Dodge, then press Y
to counter with a web hammer. Available from start of
game.
Right Dodge
While dodging, hold right on the left thumbstick
to dodge to the right. Available from start of game.
Counter Uppercut
Dodge an attack with the Right Dodge, then press X
to counter with an uppercut. Available from start of
game.
Counter Impact Web
Dodge an attack with the Right Dodge, then press Y
to counter with an impact web. Available from start
of game.
Web Hanger
Press X, X, Y, A to web enemies and tie them
to light posts or traffic lights. Must be purchased
for 2500 hero points.
Air Jump Off Kick
During an air combo, press A to perform a kick
which launches you higher. Must be purchased for 1000
hero points.
Cannonball Kick
While swinging, press X to do a cannonball, which
will hurt multiple enemies. Must be purchased for 500
hero points.
Rising Knee Kick
Press X, Y, A to send a target into the air with
a knee attack. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Yank Behind
Press X, Y, B to yank your enemy and hit someone
behind you. Must be purchased for 500 hero points.
Earth Breaker Punch
Press Y, X, A to strike the ground “with
great force”, causing damage to nearby enemies.
Must be purchased for 1250 hero points.
Level 3 Air Combo
This upgrade adds a third attack to air combos. Must
be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Launch Kick
After a successful dodge, press X, A to send
the attacker into the air. Must be purchased for 750
hero points.
Dizzy Strike
Press X, X, B to stun your target for several
seconds. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Multi Web Hammer
Press X, X, Y, Y, Y, Y, Y, Y to throw an enemy
into the ground multiple times at the end of a web.
Must be purchased for 1500 hero points.
The Hero Punch
When your jump meter is fully charged, press X
to perform the Hero Punch, which hurts enemies and knocks
them away from you. Must be purchased for 1250 hero
points.
Interceptor Kick
Press Y, X, Y, X to kick your enemies with “great
power”. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Level 4 Air Combo
After purchasing the Level 3 Air Combo (which is required),
press an attack button to send the enemy flying away
from you. Must be purchased for 2000 hero points.
Jaw Launcher
While in Reflex mode, press X, X, A to launch
enemies. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Air Pile Driver
While grappling an enemy in the air (grapple must be
purchased first), press B to perform a pile driver.
Must be purchased for 1250 hero points.
Double Heel Kick
While an enemy is stunned, press X, X, B, X to
perform a double heel kick. Must be purchased for 1000
hero points.
Stair Step Kicks Combo
If you have Jaw Launcher, enter Spider Reflex mode,
and press X, X, A, X to kick your opponent. The
faster you press the last X, the more kicks. Must be
purchased for 1250 hero points.
Super Web
Press Y, X, Y, Y to launch a super web, disabling
the trapped enemy. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Whirlwind Kick
After a successful dodge, press X, X to perform
a whirlwind kick, which causes great damage and knocks
enemies away. Must be purchased for 3000 hero points.
Rising Shoulder Charge
When your jump meter is fully charged, press X
while sprinting to ram your shoulder into an enemy,
launching him upward. Must be purchased for 2500 hero
points.
Air Web Slam
While grappling an enemy in the air (grapple must be
purchased first), press Y to spin the enemy with
your web, causing damage. Must be purchased for 1500
hero points.
Spider Missile
Sprint along a wall, or jump off a wall and press X
to perform an attack that homes in on the nearest enemy.
Must be purchased for 1500 hero points.
Grapple
Press and hold Y and B together to grab
an enemy, enabling you to use additional moves. Must
be purchased for 750 hero points.
Max Trap Webs
This upgrade determines how many enemies you can wrap
in your web at the same time. You begin the game by
being able to web one enemy at a time. You can eventually
web two, three and four enemies for 1500, 2000, and
3000 hero points, respectively.
Full Health
Not a normal upgrade, you can buy this at the store
to refill your health whenever you need it. The more
you’re hurt, the higher the cost.
Locomotion Upgrades

Locomotion upgrades control how fast you can wall climb,
sprint and websling. Some of these are very important,
as they will help make your races, which are timed,
that much easier.
Swing Speed Level
This determines how fast you swing. You begin the game
at level zero, and can buy eight upgrades.

Web Zip
By pulling the right trigger while pulling the
left trigger, you can perform a web zip, which
attaches to the nearby building and pulls you toward
it, fast. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Wallsprint Duration Upgrade

This upgrade allows you to wallsprint for a longer period
of time. Must be purchased for 1000 hero points.
Slingshot Jump
When you’re holding two webs (shoot one web, then
shoot another right away), you can swing back and forth
while charging your jump to get extra distance. This
only works with Normal Swinging turned on (not Easy).
Must be purchased for 600 hero points.
Acrobatic Tricks
You can also buy acrobatic tricks, which really do nothing
other then to show off your moves while jumping.
Air Trick – Inverted
Widow
While double-jumping, press A to perform this
trick. Must be purchased for 250 hero points.
Air Trick – Super Fly
Spider Guy
While in the middle of a falling twirl, press A
to perform this trick. Must be purchased for 250 hero
points.
Air Trick – Daddy Long
Legs
While double-jumping, press A, A to perform this
trick. Requires Inverted Widow. Must be purchased for
250 hero points.
Air Trick – The Web
Freak Tango
While in the middle of a falling twirl, press A,
A to perform this trick. Requires Super Fly Spider
Guy. Must be purchased for 250 hero points.
Air Trick – The Spinnaret
While double-jumping, press A, A, A to perform
this trick. Requires Daddy Long Legs. Must be purchased
for 500 hero points.
Air Trick – Manhattan
Web Roll
While in the middle of a falling twirl, press A,
A, A to perform this trick. Requires The Web Freak
Tango. Must be purchased for 500 hero points.
Air Trick – The Rolling
Reporter
While double-jumping, press A, A, A, A to perform
this trick. Requires The Spinnaret. Must be purchased
for 1000 hero points.
Miscellaneous
The following two items are available after you’ve
beaten Doc Ock for the final time.
Fight Arena
This unlocks the fight arena, which is located at the
warehouse Shocker used. You can find it using your map.
Must be purchased for 5000 hero points.
Movie Theater
This allows you to watch any movie that played during
the game. To use this, you must make your way to the
movie theater, a key location. Must be purchased for
1000 hero points.
