Introduction _______/ ) \ =[INTRO]= \_____________________/ =[INTRO]= / \___________________________________________________________________/ =================================================================== In 1996, the Nintendo 64 was released, along with a classic game, known as Super Mario 64. This game, the first 3D Mario game, and quite possibly, the first worthwhile 3D platforming game period, was an instant winner with the fans, boasting a huge amount of stars - 120. However, one thing that always seemed to bug the fans. Luigi was no where to be found! Well, my friends, the year is 2004, and with the release of the Nintendo DS, that, and many more problems have been answered. With the addition of new courses, three more characters, mini-games and many other features - Most noticably the touch-screen capabilities - a game like this was almost guaranteed to please the fans. And although I can only speak for myself, that definitely holds true for me. However, now boasting no less then 150 stars, this game needs a walkthrough. That is where this guide comes in! _____________________ ________________________/ \________________________ ( \_______ 03. You can touch them, to [X] Change View change the camera quickly. You can also move [Y] Run characters by touching parts without an arrow. [L] Center Camera By doing so, a target type circle will appear, [R] Crouch made of blue, yellow, and red circles. The [D-Pad] Move stylus/thumbstrap starts on the red. Push it [START] Pause Menu to blue to make run, move it to yellow to walk [SELECT] Control Style Menu or move just a bit, to tiptoe. Description: Generally, you will keep one hand on the D-Pad, and one on the buttons, in this mode. It is for people who don't feel comfortable with the touch screen. However, using the thumbstrap on your left hand, and moving it across the touch screen works well for some people. The stylus works as well, but for an even smaller group of people, it seems. This mode focuses on oldschool playing. Advanced Controls: Backflip: While standing still, hold [R] and press [B]. Long Jump: While running, hold [R] and press [B]. Sweepkick: Hold [R] and press [A]. Crawl: Hold [R] and move around. Triple Jump:While running, perform three consecutive jumps. Sideflip: Run in one direction, then immediately begin running in the opposite direction as you press [B]. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Touch Mode [TMODE] |___________________) O=====================================O [A] Attack Touch Screen: In this mode, the touch screen [B] Jump has one boxed double ended arrow. Pressing it [X] Rotate Camera Right toggles look-around view on and off. Moving [Y] Rotate Camera Left the stylus/thumbstrap over the screen while in [L] Center Camera first person mode, makes the character look [R] Crouch around. When you press it while you are not in [D-Pad] --- the look around view, a target will appear, [START] Pause Menu made of blue yellow and red circles. Move the [SELECT] Control Style Menu stylus/thumbstrap to blue to run, move it to yellow to walk, and move it just abit to tiptoe. Description: This mode is based on heavy use of the touch screen; Particularly using the thumbstrap. It seems that the most efficient way to use this mode, is by putting the thumbstrap on your left thumb, and slide it along the screen, instead of putting it on the D-Pad. It feels strange at first, but this bears closest resemblence to using an analog stick. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Dual Mode [DMODE] |___________________) O=====================================O [A] Attack Touch Screen: In this mode, the touch screen [B] Crouch has both horizontal and verticle arrows. The [X] Jump horizontal arrows rotate the camera left and [Y] Center Camera right, while the verticle ones toggle the [L] --- look-around mode on and off. Pressing the [R] --- touch screen in any other spot brings up the [D-Pad] --- red/blue/yellow circles which allow you to Down Crouch move, jsut like in the other two modes. Right Attack Up Jump Left Center Camera [START] Pause Menu [SELECT] Control Style Menu Description: This mode is also based heavily on the use of the touch screen. However, unlike the touch mode, this one is user-friendly for both left-handed and right handed people. The D-Pad and the buttons both work for the actions, so it's easy to use the thumbstrap with either your right or left hand, and operate the buttons with your other hand. Advanced Controls: Backflip: While standing still, hold [Down] and press [X]. Long Jump: While running, hold [Down] and press [X]. Sweepkick: Hold [Down] and press [A]. Crawl: Hold [Down] and move around. Triple Jump:While running, perform three consecutive jumps. Sideflip: Run in one direction, then immediately begin running in the opposite direction as you press [Up]. _____________________ ________________________/ \________________________ ( \_______ 04. In this game, he awakes near the castle, and finds Mario, Luigi, and Wario gone. He has good speed and jump, but lacks any sort of power - That is, when he doesn't have an egg. Power: Speed: <><> Jump: <><><> Power Flower: Yoshi's Power Flower ability allows him to breathe fire for a limited amount of time. This fire can scorch enemies, and melt blocks of ice. Abilities: Egg: Yoshi can swallow enemies with his tongue attack. They will turn into an egg that he can throw at other enemies! To swallow the enemy, attack to take them in with his tongue, and then crouch to digest them. Attack again to shoot. Fire Breath: By licking fire with the attack button, Yoshi will fill his mouth with flames. Attack again to spit them out. Flutter: Simply hold the jump button a bit longer after jumping. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Mario [MARIO] |___________________) O=====================================O Description: Mario has been the star of many, many games over the years. In this one, he was invited over by Peach for cake. When he gets there however, there is a problem, just like every time Peach meets him. Mario is a balanced character in terms of stats. Power: <><> Speed: <><> Jump: <><> Power Flower: Mario's Power Flower ability allows him to inflate himself like a balloon. You can tap the B button to float higher in this state, for a limited amount of time. It allows you to reach new areas of the stage. Abilities: Wall Jump: Jump against a wall, and immediately after touching it, press the jump button again, while moving in the opposite direction. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Luigi [LUIGI] |___________________) O=====================================O Description: Luigi, Mario's brother, has been left out of many of his bro's adventures. Not this time though, Luigi took it upon himself to crash the party! Luigi is extremely atheletic - Especially when it comes to his insane backflips. Why Mario leaves this guy out of his adventures is a mystery. Power: <> Speed: <><> Jump: <><><> Power Flower: Luigi's Power Flower ability is to turn invisible for a short period of time. While invisible, Luigi can run through certain obstacles, to reach new areas. Abilities: Run on Water: This is extremely simple. Just run towards the water. Spin Backflip:Do a backflip, but instead of letting go of the jump button, hold it for a bit longer, and Luigi will begin to spin in the air, lowering the speed he falls at greatly. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Wario [WARIO] |___________________) O=====================================O Description: Wario is Mario's fat, evil, greedy, selfish counterpart. He also has a big pink nose. For whatever reason, he has also decided to crash Peach's party. He has some great power, but is very slow, and can not jump high. Power: <><><> Speed: <> Jump: <> Power Flower: Wario's Power Flower ability is to turn into a metal version of himself. In this form, he is invulnerable to fire and lava, and can walk along the bottom of water areas. He can also resist being pushed by wind or strong water currents. Abilities: Strength: This is not really a move, but it is an ability. Wario is the only character capable of smashing steel blocks and other heavy, durable objects. Heavy: Wario can smash a wooden peg into the ground with one pound, when it takes the other characters three pounds. _____________________ ________________________/ \________________________ ( \_______ 05. Walkthrough _______/ ) \ =[WALKT]= \_____________________/ =[WALKT]= / \___________________________________________________________________/ =================================================================== ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Outside of the Castle [OUT01] |___________________) O=====================================O At the start of the game, a letter by Princess Peach will be read, telling Mario that she has a cake for him. Shortly after, Mario, Luigi and Wario arrive via warppipes, and head into the castle. The game then switches to Yoshi, just waking up from his nap; You will be playing as him. Cross the lawn and the drawbridge and try to open the door. It will be locked, so head back. Just as you approach the bridgee again, Lakitu, the cameraman will come down and say that he saw a rabbit with a key run by, and that it is labeled on the touch screen. So, look at the touchscreen for the picture of a blinking key. Using the touch screen map, follow the simple dirt path, to a small collection of hedges. Walk around them, and you should see a small rabbit that will begin running as soon as you approach. He isn't very fast though, so give chase, and grab him with Yoshi's tongue. In return for his freedom, he will give you the key to the castle that he took. Go back to the door to the castle, and unlock it, then head on inside. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Castle [CAS01] |___________________) O=====================================O As soon a you enter the castle, you'll get an upleasent message from Bowser. When it's done, head to your left, and climb the stairs - If you want, you can also grab some coins from the sides of the main staircase. You'll find a door with a star on it. This star has no numbers, so you can go through it without any stars. And since you don't have any yet, this is the only level you have access to. Open the door, and enter the room. Inside, there is a picture of a Bob-omb on the wall. Run, and jump into it, to get started on the first level of the game. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Bob-Omb Battlefield [LVL01] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, head left, and walk up the stairs. There's a door with a star on it, with no numbers. Walk through it and jump into the picture. /\ Star #1: Big Bob-Omb on the Summit < > Requirements: Star 1 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi At the start of the level, run forward along the dirt path, until you reach two Goombas. Swallow one of them, to make an egg, and throw it at the second one. Then, proceed across the brige, and jump on the third Goomba. *S1 Take a left, and continue walking along the dirt path. Soon, you will find yourself near a large chained chomp. Stick close to the fence on your left, however, and you will make it past safely. Just after that, is a wooden plank, that will tilt when you step on it. Run across it quickly, and jump to the other side. Walk up the stone stairs, and head forward, across the grass - Try not to stop around here, as water bombs will be falling from the sky. Head forward until you reach a second white rocky hill. Just behind this hill, is a patch of flowers, that you would have been brought, if you took the shortucut described in the note below. *S1 Just after crossing the first bridge, there's a fence, behind the third Goomba. If you jump over the fence, and stand in the middle of the flower patch, you will be warped ahead, to the next flower patch. Take a right, following the arrow of the nearby sign, and pass through the opening in the barred fence. *S2 Then, walk to the right, and drop into the gap, with two black balls rolling by. Carefully run past them, and jump up to the path on the other side of the gap. Head up the path, watching out for the frequent balls that will be rolling down from the path ahead; Particularly the one at the corner, that will drop directly off a cliff from above. Continue along the path, until you reach a spot, where you can either follow the path more, or take a hill down to the right. *S2 You can walk up this hill instead of taking the path to begin with, but you have to hold the button; If you let go, you will slide down to the bottom again. Continue up the path a bit more, jumping, and sticking close to the wall, to avoid the black balls. Soon, you will find an alcove in the wall, where all the balls are coming out of. *S3 Continue around the corner, and jump over the gap in the path. A little after that is another gap. Either long jump over it, or walk across the plank to get across. By this time, more black balls will be rolling down the path. It's more-or-less the same after that though, save for one heart to the right side of the road, allowing you to restore your life. Soon, you'll reach th top of the mountain, just after you pass another alcove that balls are coming out of. *S3 If you jump into the first alcove, and wait in the center of it for a few seconds, you will be warped to the second alcove. At the top of the mountain, there is a giant Bob-Omb with a crown on its head. Talk to him, and a fight will begin. During the fight, what will happen, is that he will walk towards you slowly, and throw bob-ombs that are about to explode at you. If you can, get them right away with Yoshi's tongue, and toss them back at the king for some damage - three hits and he is gone. If you can't get them right away though, don't risk them blowing up inside Yoshi's mouth, just run until they explode. Also, be careful not to get too close to the king, as he will attempt to toss you out of the arena. When he's gone, the star will appear. Grab it, and the stage is finished. /\ Star #2: Footrace with Koopa the Quick < > Requirements: Star 2 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi When you enter the stage with the second star selected as your goal, you will see a giant Koopa standing at the start of the stage. You can talk to him, but unless you are playing as Mario - Which you can not at this point of the game, he will not race you. What you can do, however, is trick him. Look at the touch screen, and you will see a cap marked. So, head out to find it. To get it, cross the first bridge ahead, and jump over the fence. There will be a goomba just to the left of the stone pyramid there. Take the hat right off his head, with Yoshi's tongue, then head back to challenge Koopa - Don't get into any conflicts along the way though, if an enemy hits you, you'll drop the hat, and transform back into Yoshi. After talking to Koopa, a clock will start ticking in the corner of the screen - Though it really doesn't matter, as you are racing Koopa, not the clock. You will be racing to the top of the mountain, to the place where you fought the King Bob-Omb, and you can view Koopa's progress on the touch screen. He is marked as a star. Don't be fooled into following him though, his path won't work for you. You don't want to try and get away with using warps or cannons either, neither of those methods will earn you a star. Instead, take the long way: Head across the brdige ahead, and run left, against the fence, past the giant Chain Chomp. Run across the teetering board after that, and then run to the barred fence, in front of the mountain. Jump into the gap and past the two rolling black balls, and then proceed to run the laps up the mountain. When you reach the top, touch the flag to stop the clock. If you lose, you'll have to exit the stage via the pause menu. If you beat Koopa, however, wait for him to arrive, and he'll award you with a star. /\ Star #3: 5 Silver Stars! < > Requirements: Star 3 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi This is a rather new goal to those who've played the original Nintendo 64 version of the game. What's going to happen, is you'll see a crystal sphere in the air at the start of the level. On the touch screen, you will see some silver star markers. When you collect five silver stars, a real star will appear in that sphere! To get the first star, head forward, to the bridge, and climb the first tree in front of it; Just above the star marker on the touch screen. There is a silver star sitting on top of the tree. After picking it up, go and talk to the Pink Bob-omb at the beginning - the one on the stone pedestal. He will open up the cannon for you. Get in the cannon, and blast yourself to the west, over the fence, to the platform above. If you get shot too far past it, just do a bit of backtracking. When you are above where the star marker is on the map, Start jumping on Goomas. Another star will come out of this! After that, head forward, to wear the second warp-flower garden was. There should be another silver star, in plain sight, in the middle of a circle of coins. From there, pass through the gate, to reach the base of the mountain. Take the hill on the left to the top, and run forward until you reach a tree with two Goombas sitting around it. Make an egg out of one, and toss it at the other, and you will get another star. Head straight forward from where the were, and jump over the fence after that. You will be on the ground, to the area to the right of the chain chomp; But this time, he is jumping around, loose! Swallow a Goomba immediately, and hit him with it, to stop him for a minute. Then, grab the star off of his tail, before he notices it. After that, simply run back to the start of the level, at your own leisure, and pick up the star from the crystal sphere - It will be marked as a golden star on your touch screen map. Silver Star List: 1 - At the top of the tree in front of the first bridge. 2 - Inside a Goombas, on the raised ground, to the left of start. Take the cannon, or the long way, around Chain Chomp's cage. 3 - In the center of a ring of coins near the second warp-flower garden. 4 - Inside one of the goombas, near a tree on the side of the mountain, just past the hill with a red coin on it. 5 - On Chain Chomp's tail, as he is running around near the first warp star garden, and the stone pyramid with a cannon on top of it. /\ Star #4: Big Bob-Omb's Revenge < > Requirements: Star 4 Selected, Mario Cap \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi The first thing you should know about this star, is that once again you need to make it to the top of the mountain - as you can clearly see on the touch screen map. The easiest way is to jump into the cannon at the start, and launch yourself over the bridge ahead, near the stone pyramid. Then, run to the top of it, to find another cannon! Shoot yourself from it, over the floating island in the sky - Where you will be in another star - onto the mountain. Look at the map again while here. Depending on where you landed a Mario hat will be either to your left or right on the map. Head in the apporpriate direction, and lick it off of the Goomba's head it is on. Then, just run to the top of the mountain, as you've done twice already. On the top of the mountain, you will meet the king again, and he's ready for a second round! This time, he will be constantly moving around, trying to pick you up and throw you; But he will not have bob-ombs. Just take your time, and run close circles around him, so that you are just out of his reach, until his back is exposed. Then, grab him, and toss him! Three of those, and he will drop his star. Just make sure not to toss him out of the arena, as he will jsut jump back up, and the hit won't count. /\ Star #5: Mario Wings to the Sky < > Requirements: Mario, Wing Cap \/ Reccomended Character: Mario _ /\ |\ | |¯¯| ¯|¯ |_ \/ | \| |__| | |_ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't even try going for this star until you unlock Mario. That requires eight stars. You also need the wing cap, which will have required 10 stars. Both of those which require entering another level. If you need more stars, try entering Whomp's Fortress, which contains eight stars that any character can get. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Mario, either use the cannon at the start, or run across the bridge, the old fashioned way, and hop the fence, to reach the base of the stone pyramid. Once there, run up its side, and hop into the cannon. Use this cannon, and aim to the floating island in the sky: For best results, aim for the tree, so that when you hit it, you will grab onto it, and automatically stop. Once on the tree, slide down to the ground, and get a wing cap from the red box. With the wings, jump into the cannon, and aim yourself at the ring of coins in the air. Shoot yourself, and when you hit the center coin, a red one will appear. While flying, go through the next two, to get a red two and three to appear. After going through the first three, pull down, and then push up to get Mario higher into the air, so that he passes through the final two rings, resulting in a red four and a red five to appear. If you miss at all during this sequence, turn around while flyingf, and head back to the floating island. The cap will be back again, and the cannon isn't going anywhere. So take your time, to avoid falling down to the ground. Once you get all five numberals to appear, a sequence of a star appearing will be shown, and the star will be marked on your map. It's more or less below where you are flying, so descend to the ground gradually to avoid taking damage - or just groundpound, if you got the life to spare - and go pick up the star. /\ Star #6: Find the 8 Red Coins < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario First run toward the bridge, and then go left, onto the dirt near it. Go forward to the wall here, where there are platforms moving around on a motor belt. Wait until one of the platforms is near the ground, and jump onto it. Ride it until it reaches the top, where there is a red coin in the air. Jump up and grab the coin, and then jump off onto the ground. Head forward onto the grass from here, and go to the right of where the Chain Chomp's cage is. On top of a white rock, is the second red coin. Simply walk up to it, and take it. After you have a second coin under your belt, head toward the Chain Chomp. Get close enough to him, so that he lunges at you, but back off quickly, so that you don't get hit. When he's extended on his chain, jump onto the peg he is attatched to, and gnab his red coin. Then, quickly run back to the safety of the fence. Run across the wooden tilting platform, and take a left, onto the grass, instead of running up the stone stairs. In plain sight, among the wooden pegs in the ground, are two more red coins. Next, head towards the barred fence. Rather then walk through it, however, jump off to the left of it, and fall to the ground. Then, head under the bridge that is there. Pick up and throw the Bob-Omb there before it can cause any trouble, and then grab the red coin. You might as well step on the switch that is there, as well. It will open up the gate there, opening a little shortcut back to the beginning of the level. When that's done, walk back around and go through the opening in the barred fence. Walk up the hill on the left, getting the red coin about halfway up. After that, just walk forward a little, and jump into the cannon. Fire yourself to the island in the sky, if you can. If not, you can always fire from another cannon - Heck, if you want to, you can even get this as you pass by a cannon, on your way to the other coins. Anyway, pick up the last red coin from the tree on the island, and the star will appear. As usuall, it will be marked on the touch screen map. Use the cannon on the floating island, and blast through the circle of coins - That will land you more or less near where the star appeared. Just pick it up! Red Coin List: 1 - At the top of the motor belt, left of the 1st bridge. 2 - On a white rock, to the right of the Chain Chomp cage. 3 - On the top of the wooden peg the Chain Chomp is attatched to. 4 - Between the wooden pegs, left of the tilting board. 5 - Between the wooden pegs, left of the tilting board. 6 - Under the stone bridgeway. 7 - Halfway up the hill, just past the barred cage, to the left of the two rolling black balls. 8 - On the top of the tree, on the floating island. /\ Star #7: Behind Chain Chomp's Gate < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi Now, there is a very good reason that you absolutely should use Yoshi for this goal, and you will see why shortly. Run forward, and swallow one of the Goomba's on the bridge, to get an egg. Then, continue along the path, until you are at Chain Chomp's cage. Here is when that Yoshi-style comes into play: Toss the egg at Chain Chomp to stun him. Before he gets back to being himself, jump onto the wooden peg he is chained to, and nail three hip drops. He will be set free, and in excitement, he will knock down the metal bars he was guarding, revealing a star! Just walk over and grab it. /\ Star #8: 100 Coins < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario This star is not shown on the star select screen, and getting it will not cause you to exit the level, but it is there. There's one in every single stage, that has the original seven stars available. Shown here, is pretty much a complete listing of all the coins in the level. Choose from which ever ones you like, as you only need 100 for the star. Note: This list applies only when you choose the seventh star from the star select screen. (0-3) Walk forward, and punch the block on the right. Get the 3 coins that come out of it. (3-5) Punch the two Goombas in front of the bridge, for a coin each. (5-10) Walk forward, and go under the bridge to find a row of coins. (10-13) Punch the Goomba, and throw the Bob-Ombs to the left of the bridge for a coin each. (13-16) Left of there, near the hill, are two more Bob-ombs and a Goomba. Get a coin from each of them as well. (16-18) Backtrack a bit, to the moving platforms, and ride them to get the red coin at the top. (18-19) Head to the right, and punch the Goomba near the top of the bridge. (19-24) Jump over the fence, into the grass. Find th Koopa near there, and jump on him, to make him drop his shell. Jump on it, and run him over with it for a blue coin - You can drop the shell after that. (24-32) Take out all the Goombas and Bob-ombs in the grass around here, and ge a coin from each of them. (32-34) Get a red coin from the white rock to the right of the cage. (34-36) Grab the red coin from on top of Chain Chomp's wooden peg. (36-40) Cross the tilting platform, and get the two red coins in the grass from between the wooden pegs. (40-60) Hip drop the four wooden pegs, and get five coins from each. (60-62) Punch out the two Goombas near you. (62-65) Jump up to the next "layer" of ground, and punch the orange block on the right (The one on the left contains a Mushroom.) (65-66) To the right of the orange box, is a Bob-Omb. Blow him up, and take his coin. (66-74) Run forward, to the second warp-flower garden, and get the 8 coins surrounding it. (This will also cause a 1-Up to appear.) (74-75) Head down below the stone arc, that leads to the barred gate, and throw the Bob-Omb that's there. (75-77) Pick up the red coin that's there as well. (77-80) Walk around, back to the grass, and throw the Bob-Ombs near where the barred gate is. (80-82) Run past the barred gate, and take the red coin from the hill, on the left side of the mountain base. (82-83) Run forward and punch the Goomba that's near the tree. (83-88) Continue up the path, until you find an inaccessable cannon. Grab the five coins next to it. (88-93) Cross the plank, and continue until you find a real cannon. Get the five coins near that too. (93-95) Hop into the cannon, and launch yourself to the floating island. Grab the red coin in the tree. (95-145) There are five circles of coins in the air. Each has 8 coins, and one coin in the center. You can get them with the cannon and the wing cap. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| The Princess's Secret Slide [CSS01] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, walk up the main staircase, and take a right at the top. Go through the door with a star with a 1 on it, and jump into the picture of Peach on the right. /\ Star #1: Princess's Secret Slide < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi This level is nothing but a slide. Before you slide down, however, you can hit the blue coin switch behind you on the right. This will cause a bunch of blue coins to appear at the beginning of the track. After that, slide down the course, and there will be a star waiting for you at the bottom. /\ Star #2: Under 21 Seconds < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario This is the same thing as the first star, but this time, you have to get to the goal in under 21 seconds. Due to the fact that Mario goes much faster you will probably want to unlock him before you go for it. Using Mario, jump and dive onto the course, so that he is sliding on his stomache, and then hold the D-Pad forward for more speed, as you make tight turns, carefully making sure you don't hit the wall. You can also jump off of the course at the third turn to save a few more seconds, if you land on the path below. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Whomp's Fortress [LVL02] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, head right, and enter the door next to the wooden door. It has a star with a 1 on it. Jump into the painting on the wall. /\ Star #1: Chip off Whomp's Block < > Requirements: Star 1 Selected, Mario Hat \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi Just after entering the level for the first time, the "Lakitu Brothers" - In other words, those guys on the clouds holding the camera - will tell you how to walk slowly. Very useful, if you didn't read the manual, or the controls section of this guide. Well, anyway, in this star, once again, you'll be making it to the top of the area. This level is nothing like Bob-Omb battlefield however. To start the level off, jump to the ledge in front of you. *S1 Then, begin running up the hill in front of you, collecting the coins along the way. When you reach the part of the hill, with yellow arrows painted on the wall, you should notice three parts of the wall are moving in and out. They aren't dangerous per say, but they can push you off the platform, causing you to have to go back around. Either jump/climb over them, or wait until thjey are in the wall, and run past them. Remember, there's a safe spot between each of them, where you can wait without worrying about being pushed off. After that, there are parts of the floor moving in and out of the wall. If you fall here, you will die. Rather than waiting, just jump, and flutter if you have to to get across the solid portions of the ground; Don't worry about the moving parts at all. Once safely on the other side, center the camera so that you are looking at the ledges that form a stairway. There will be two giant Thwomps that you will see. One is pounding the ground in front of the stairway, and the other on the stairway itself. *S2 Wait until the first is in the air, then run by him, and jump onto the stairs. Jump a couple of stairs, and you will reach the second one. Once again, wait until he is in the air, and jump past him. From there, run to the top of the staircase. *S1 You can backflip while on the first ledge, at the very beginning of the level, to reach a ramp, directly next to where you would be if you took the long, dangerous way. If you run up it, no only will you reach the same spot faster, and more safely, you'll pick up some coins. Unfortunately, you will miss the second shortcut - The choice of which one you want is yours though. At the top of the stair case, look to your right. You will see a snoozing Piranha Plant, guarding a red coin. Since Yoshi has no attack without an egg, and you have none - unless you went off track to get one - this seems like a great time to test out that slow walk. Use the stylux on the touch screen, to tiptoe against the wall, past the Piranha Plant, nabbing the red coin safely. From there, center the camrea ahead, to see a grey bridge. Run over it, but don't stop moving - the bridge will collapse behind you! When you are safely across, pick up the Mario hat. You will need it to defeat the boss that you will soon be facing. As Mario, run across the wooden plank, so that you are next to another Piranha Plant. Just let it sleep. Soon, the bridge ahead will rotate to face you. When it does, run to the circular center of it, before you get knocked off as it passes the wall, rotating. When it faces the opposite direction, after turning, run off to the next platform. and take a right around the corner. Notcie the fence on the left, with a flag behind it. *S2 Instead of proceeding up the ramp, past the Thwomp, you can stand in the corner of the platform, behind the orange boxes and against the fence, to be warped to the flagpost ahead. A little ahead, is a Whomp. You can either run around it, or take it out. To do the latter, you have to stand in front of it, so that it sees you, and wait for it to do a body slam. Get out of his way quickly, so that he falls on the ground. While he is down, you can jump on his back, and do a hip drop, to shatter him - And pick up five coins. Past him, further along on the path, is another Whomp. Once again, you can either take him out, or run past him. After that, jmup on one of the moving platforms against the wall, to be brought to the top of the castle, where a big Whomp is awaiting you. Talk to him, to start the battle. The battle is really quite simple. He works just liked a normal Whomp, but he is more pumped up. - But slower, as a result. Just stand in front of him, and wait for him to body slam you. Get out of his way as quickly as possible. When he's down, jump onto his back and run to the "X" made up of tape. Once there, ground pound him! He will then get up, so get off of him. Repeat that two more times, and he will explode, giving up his star. Just go and grab it. /\ Star #2: To the top of the Fortress < > Requirements: Star 1 not selected \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi Once again, you have to make it to the top of the fortress. Do so by whichever means you like. Take the warp, take the backflip to the hill at the beginning, or even take the long way. Nothing in the level has changed, except the top of the fortress, where you faught Whomp, so you should be able to navigate around with little hassle. Once you get to the top, however, you will find a tall tower. By the way, considering there will be a lot of jumps there, it's best if you do not pick up the Mario hat this time. Once you arrive at the top of the fortress, begin running around the tower, to the left, until you find a platform sticking out of its side, that is low enough to the ground for you to jump up to - Make sure to avoid the Bullet Bills that will be firing from a box in the corner of the roof, though. From there, begin jumpinging from ledge to ledge - Be careful though, they alternate between stationary, and sliding in-and-out of the walls. When you reach the final platform, it will slide up like an elevator. Wait for it to stop, and jmup onto the roof of the tower, where the star awaits. /\ Star #3: Shoot into the Wild Blue < > Requirements: Star 3 or higher selected. \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi _ /\ |\ | |¯¯| ¯|¯ |_ \/ | \| |__| | |_ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starting in this star, and throughout the rest of the stars, you will have access to the Owl. Jump to the tree at the start of the stage, and the Owl will fly out. You can grab onto him, and control his general direction by ujsing the touch screen or D-Pad depending on your control type. He can be used as a shortcut to reach just about any location in the stage, from above. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jump onto the ledge at the start of the level, and backflip up onto the stone ledge above that. From there, jump into the shallow water on your left, and run forward until you reach more solid ground, with some coins and a pink Bob-Omb. Talk to the pink Bob-Omb, and the cannon cover on the ground below you will open up, allowing you to access the cannon. Jump into the cannon, and aim to the left. You are aiming for the middle "layer" of the floors surrounding the flag pole. It can be tricky to land there from the cannon being so far away, but if you take your time aiming, you can do it. Allign the arrow of the crosshair on the left, with the orange box on the top "layer". Allign the bottom arrow of the crosshair with the left-hand pillar of the middle layer. If you do this, you will hit the pillar, and land on the middle layer safely. Jump onto the pole, and slide down to the bottom layer, and you will be right next to the star. /\ Star #4: Red Coins on the Floating Isle < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Start by jumping onto the ledge at the start, and running up the hill ahead of you, until you reach the parts of the wall that keep coming out. run past the first one when it goes in, but then jmup on the second one to reach a red coin above it. After that, continue forward normally, until you reach the stairway with the Thwomps on it. Proceed up the stairs, and wait at the top until the second Thwomp hits the stairs. When he does, jump on top of him, and wait for him to rise into the air, where there's another red coin. After grabbing the second coin, jump down back to the top of the stairs, and take a right. Tip-toe past the Pranha Plant there, and pick up the red coin behind it. You can also punch it out, if you like. The fourth coin is just after that. Stay agaisnt the wall, and cross the narrow ledge at the corner. From there, punch out a second Piranha Plant, and wait for the rotating bridge to face you. Run to its center, and wait for it to turn again. Then, wait for it to begin turning again. As it turns, wait in the middle of the rectangular part of the bridge, so that you pick up some coins, including one red coin. You can then cross to the other side. Continue around the corner, past the two Whomps, and ride the moving platforms to the top of the fortress. Directly to your right, at the top, is a tall board. Jumpkick it, and it will fall over, forming a bridge to a floating platform, with some coins on it. Run to it, and jump to another platformn from there, where there is a red coin. The next three floating platforms rotate, so jump across them carefully. On the last one, there's another red coin. From here, you can either take a leap of faith to the ground, or take the long treck back down the fortress safely. Either way, you want to end up in the grass, on the bottom of the fortress, to the right of the arrow- shaped platform on the map; Near the yellow circles that represent the flower patches, on the map. In the patch to the right, there is a red coin, but it is guarded by two sleeping Piranha Plants. Just run by and grab it quickly, before they get you. This will cause the star to appear. Begin circling the island to the left, past the wooden pegs. Near the start of the level, you will find the red-coin star. Red Coin List: 1 - Above the second moving sector of the wall, at the ramp near the start. 2 - Above the second Thwomp. 3 - Behind a sleeping Piranha, near the top of the stairs the Whomp's are guarding. 4 - On a thin ledge after the Piranha Plant guarding the third coin. 5 - On the moving bridge. 6 - On the second floating island. 7 - On the last floating island. 8 - In a flower patch at the bottom of the fortress. /\ Star #5: Fall onto the Caged Island < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi This star can be incredibly tricky, if you don't know what to do. If you do, however, it's relatively simple. Just graqb the tree at the start, so that the Owl comes out and speaks with you. Grab onto him, and wait for him to reach a high point in his flight. When he does, use either the touch screen or the D-Pad to turn him to the right, towards the island in the sky with a cage on it. When you are above it, let go of him. You will fall to the island - And possibly take a bit of damage. That's ok though, because the star is waiting right there for you. Walk into the cage from the opening, and grab the star. /\ Star #6: Blast Away the Wall < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario This is another short-and-simple star. Jump to the first ledge at the start of the level, and perform a backflip, to reach the shallow water above. From there, run forward to the cannon, and hop inside. From inside the cannon, look to the right. You will see two walls; They are the walls with the moving bridge between them, to be more specific. Aim just above the top-right hand corner of the wall on the right, and you will hit the corner, and smash the top of the wall off, revealing a star! Make your way back to the cannon, and perform the same shot again, to grab the star. /\ Star #7: Switch Star of the Fortress < > Requirements: Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Head to the right, at the start, and run forward between the two wooden pegs, taking out the Goombas if you like. Keep going until you reach the wooden fence, and when you do, jump over it. Punch out the Goomba on the ground that you land on, and then look behind the brown pillar on your left. There's an orange box sitting there. Punch it open to reveal a switch, and then step on it, to activate it. A star will be shown appearing in a crystal sphere. Immediately, come out from behind the pillar, and jump across the gap on your right. Run forward to wehre there's a Piranha Plant, but don't waste your time dealing with it, just run past it around the corner. Jump over another gap that's there, and jump past the Bullet Bill launcher as well. After that, there is only two flower patches to worry about. Run past them, staying against the wall to avoid the Prianha Plants, and jump over one last gap. Pick up the star from inside the crystal sphere to exit the stage. /\ Star #8: 100 Coins < > Requirements: Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Once again, here is a list of what I believe to be all the coins in the level. You must be playing on one of the stars from 2 to 7, however. The first one, doesn't allow you to reach all of the coins. (0-1) Climb the tree next to you at the start, and get the coin at the top. (2-6) Punch out the Piranha Plant behind you at the start of the stage. (6-8) Run forward, to the right of the ramps, and take out the two Goombas for a coin each. (8-18) Ground pound the two wooden pegs near the Goombas for 5 coins each. (18-26) Continue after that, and pick up 8 coins from the flowers. (26-27) Jump over the fence after the flowers, and jump on the Goomba. (27-32) Jump over the gap ahead, and continue until you reach a Piranha Plant. Punch it out for a blue coin. (32-41) Turn the corner, and jump over the next gap. There, you'll find three orange boxes. Punch all three for three coins each. (41-56) On the next ledge, their are three wooden pegs. Pound all three into the ground for five coins each. (56-71) After the pegs, are two flower patches, with three Piranha Plants. Get one blue coin from each. (71-73) Pick up the red coin from the middle of the second flower patch. (73-75) Jump over the next few gaps, and the fence. Take out the two Goombas over there. (75-95) Butt Stomp the blue coin box there, and get the 4 blue coins that appear to the left of it. (95-96) Head up the ramp on the right, and take out another Goomba. (96-101) Grab the five coins near the cannon. (101-109)Head to the right, through the shallow water, and grab the circle of eight coins. (109-114)Head up the ramp on the right, and grab five more coins. (114-119)Go back down the ramp, and drop to the one below. Pick up the 5 coins there as well. (119-121)Move forward, and get the red coin from above the second moving wall. (121-124)Keep moving until you reach the first Thwomp. Smash one of the orange boxes behind him for three coins. (124-126)Climb up the stairs, and get the red coin from above the Thwomp. (126-131)At the top of the stairs, take out the Piranha Plant on the right. (131-133)Grab the red coin from behind the Piranha Plant. (133-135)Grab the red coin on the thin ledge after that. (135-140)Cross the ledge, and punch another Piranha Plant for a blue coin. (140-146)Pick up all the coins on the moving bridge's path. (146-151)Run around the next corner, and wait for a Whomp to body slam you. Jump on him, for one coin. Do this four more times. (151-156)Butt stomp the Whomp the next time it falls over for 5 more coins. (156-166)Perform the same treatment on the Whomp around the corner. (166-167)Head back to where the first Whomp was, and jump the fence. Jump on the Goomba that's there. (167-170)Punch the orange box there as well, for three more coins. (170-190)These coins come from the coins on the floating islands in the sky. (190-198)These coins come from the middle layer of the platforms surrounding the flagpole. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Goomboss Battle [BOSS1] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: Head up the main stairs of the lobby, and move to the right, going through the door with a 1 on it. Walk forward through the door in the middle of the character doors, to reach the Rec Room. Go through the 8-star door here, and jump into the picture of Mario. /\ FREE MARIO! < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi This level is pretty complex, despite its relatively small size. Thankfully, you can skip most of it, for now. The rest comes in play when you go for the red coins. The floor is covered with poison gas, so you'll have to stay on the platforms if you don't want to take any damage. At the start, you'll be on a wooden ledge in front of a slide. Slide down to the first platform, and swallow the Goomba on your left. Then, head left, and jump on the grey platform, throwing the egg at the Goomba on the next platform. Then jump to it. Just after that, there are three wooden tree stumps sinking in and out of the gas. Jump across them, but becareful to time your jumps so that you aren't standing on one, as it goes under the gas. When you reach the platform on the other side, jump on the Goomba standing there. Then, move forward to the edge of the platform where there's a Piranha Plant sleeping. Let your egg loose on him, and then jump up onto the ledge he was blocking. Around this area, though, a Lakitu will begin flying around. And unlike the friendly cameraman, this one will be throwing spinies at you. When you are on the platform, climb the vine. Climb a high as you can, for a 1-up, and then jump off at the top. Head up the bridge, from there, taking out two Goombas on the way; Try to make an egg out of one of them, as there's a Piranha Plant at the edge of the bridge that you should hit with an egg. Just after the Piranha Plant, is a hole in the ground, and a heart. Restore all of your life with the heart, and then jump in the hole, to be brought to a boss battle! This boss battle, is simple, but fun. Basically, the arena is a platform shaped like a ring. You, and a King Goomba are on the platform. When he walks, he will move in one direction, with his Goomba troops following him. Wait to see what direction he's going to move in, and run in the same direction. You are faster than him, so you'll be able to sneak up behind him. When you do, make an egg out of one of his Goombas, and launch it! It will shoot through the other Goombas and hit him. When this happens, run away, so that you and him are on opposite sides of the platform. Repeat this twice more to take him down. Note: When you use other characters, later on, you can confront him directly, face-t-face, and punch one of his smaller Goombas, so they fly into him, causing damage. /\ Star #1: 8 Red Coins < > Requirements: Wario, Mario , Luigi \/ Reccomended Character: Wario Start by continuing the level as usuall, until you reach the first set of logs that rise and fall in the gas. When you reach them, however, do not jump on them. Instead, jump on the platform to the right of them, with a Piranha Plant on it. Punch out the plant, and jump on the fence above you. Begin climbing across the ceiling, and pick up the red coin. Jump down on the other side. From here, get on a moving platform on the left, and ride it to a log off the main platform, with a steel box. Using Wario's strength, smash it for a red coin. After that, ride the platform back. From there, head straight forward, until you reach more rising/falling logs. Jump across themp, and on the final log, you will find a Piranha Plant and a red coin. Punch out the plant, and grab the coin. After that, backtrack a bit, and jump onto the ledge with a vine on it. Climb it, and get the coin on the platform above, and then climb down again. From there, jump down to the path on your right, Follow it until you reach an orange box, and go left, onto another rising log, from there. When the log rises, do a backflip to gnab a red coin. That concludes the red coins on that side of the level. To get the next, head back to the fence you were hanging from and climbing along earlier. Run along the moving platforms near there, and then head left, onto another log, with a wooden peg on it. Head to the right from there. There will be a Goomba here, with a Mario hat on. Steal it from him, and then head back to the left side of the log with a wooden peg. Jump on the grey platform in the middle of that area for a red coin, then jump along the grey platforms near there. At the end of them, is a red box. Get the balloon from it, and float to the top of the nearby tall stump, and you'll find another red coin. To get the final red coin, head back to where you got the Mario cap, and this time, get the Luigi cap. Then, go back to where you got the red box, and hit it again. Do a backflip, and spin back over to where you got the cap, as fast as you can after that, and then do a backflip, through the fence in the tree, before you return to being visible. The last coin is in there. After that, the star will be shown. Go and pick it up from the beginning of the moving logs, leading to the third coin. Red Coin List: 1 - Below the fence after a Piranha Plant 2 - In a metal box, on a stump off of the main land. 3 - On a moving log, on the opposite side of the level as coin 2. 4 - On the platform above the vine. 5 - Above a rising/falling log, in the air. 6 - On the grey platform, near the largest tree. 7 - Above the log that you need to use Mario's balloon ability to access. 8 - Behind a red grating in the tree's log. /\ Star #2: Switch Star < > Requirements: Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Mario After entering the level, and sliding down the ramp, move forward, until you reach the first set of rising/falling logs, and when you do, head to the right. There, you will find a thin ramp. Walk up it, and punch out the Piranha Plant at the top, and then jump across the grey platforms behind it, to another solid platform. Head to the left from there, and hit the switch that's on the ground. After hitting it, the star will appear at the top of a red cage ahead. To get it, simply wallkick from side to side inside the cage, until you reach the top. It's easier said than done, however. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Star Courtyard [CSS02] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, walk through either of the wooden doors next to the main staircase. You will be in a room with red rugs. Run down the hallway, and go through the door to enter the courtyward. _ /\ |\ | |¯¯| ¯|¯ |_ \/ | \| |__| | |_ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This star was previously throught to have a major glitch tied in with it. See, if you don't get this star soon after unlocking Mario, you risk the ability of losing it. Once you gain access to Boo's Mansion, the red coins dissappear. It was recently discovered, that if you fall victim to this glitch, you can later make up the star by talking to the Toad next to the Tick Tock Clock stage twice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- /\ Star #1: 8 Red Coins in the Courtyard < > Requirements: Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Mario It is near impossible to describe where the red coins are, since the Boos that fill the courtyard hold them; Thus, the coins move around. It's a rather simple task to collect them though. Just defeat a Boo, and it will drop its coin! An easy way to defeat a Boo, is to turn your back to it, wait for it to get close, then backflip. When you are in the air above it, do a ground pound to take it out. When you've collected eight coins, the star will appear. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Jolly Rodger Bay [LVL03] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: Once you have three stars, head to the lobby and head to the right. You will then see a 3 star door at the top of a small staircase. Use the 3+ stars you have to open the door, and jump in the bubble painting on the northern wall to enter this level. /\ Star #1: Plunder In The Sunken Ship < > Requirements: Star 1 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Any Fortunatly for you, JRB is a pretty small level, and not that complex. In all, there are three areas: Above the surface, underwater, and the cave. Although this level should be easy to beat for a beginner, it can take some work. In terms on how the map is layed out, the above surface area is a small area of land in the southern area of the level (Where you start at). While there are very few stars here, there is a few things: A cannon, block switch, coin switch, and so on. Underwater makes up the second and biggest part of the level, covering a good 1/2 of it and the location of a good majority of the stars. The final part, the cave, is about as big as the land area, and goes in a straight line. In terms of the objective for this level, you must retrieve a star from a sunken ship that is in the northern part of the level, in the underwater section. Once you are in the level, swim (but not dive), to the northern part. The area the ship is at is near the round, black circle to the north. Once you are ready, dive and swim to the left. Once you do get to the ship, you will see a Eel creature inside it. To make it come out, get close to it, but don't touch it, and it will swim off. Once it is out, go inside the window it was in to enter a new area. At the bottom, you should see a treasure chest. Touch it to let all the water out of the ship (thus, making it rise). Once the ship is drained, go to the northern part of the ship (While still in the area with the treasure chest), and hop up the platforms until you get to a yellow block. Hit the block to reveal the star. /\ Star #2: Can The Eel Come Out To Play? < > Requirements: Star 2 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Any besides Wario Another easy star. Remember the Eel from the previous JRB chapter? Well, this time, it has a star attached to it's tail. Once you begin the level, swim from the southern part of the level to the northern part and dive in the area like the first star. However, unlike the last time, the Eel is now inside a cave. Get close to it and wait until it comes out, exposing the star. During this time, it will swim in a circle (with the star attached to it's tail), and go back into the cave. Touch the star to get it. So, you may be asking why Wario is a bad choice? In actuality, he is extremely slow when it comes to swimming, so it will give anyone using him a bad time. /\ Star #3: Treasure In The Ocean Cave < > Requirements: Star 3 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Any Another simple level, this time taking place in the cave area. From the beginning, swim to the northern section and dive down. To reach the underground cave, head to the north most part of the circle area and dive down. Near the bottom should be a hole to the cave. Once inside, ignore everything else and head straight for the treasure chest area in the northern section. To get the star, open the chest in the following order: Top, Left, Right, and the bottom one. Once that is done, the star will pop out of the bottom chest. /\ Star #4: Blast to The Stone Pillar < > Requirements: Star 4 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Poor star 4, once a pain in the ass mission, now a extremely easy star with the aid of the DS's map and Mario's float ability. Anyways, there are two ways to tackle this one: The cannon for everyone else, or using Mario and his float ability. To use the cannon, talk to the pink Bomb-omb on the right part of the surface area to open the cannon door. Head back to the beginning section and swim toward the stone slab near the beginning area (it's in the middle of the water, in the near middle). Now, here's the tricky part: aiming the cannon. Since there is no clear view of the star, you will have to estimate (and use the map on the bottom), to aim the cannon. Now, here is the easier method. Choose mario, and turn to the right when you first start. If you activated the switch in the switchblock palace (If not, exit and head back to the main lobby of the castle. As mario, stare at the sun on the celing to head to a hidden level), you should see a Red switchblock. Hit it, and it will release a flower that will make you float. While the effect still lasts, hover over to the ledge and get the star. /\ Star #7: Through The Jet Stream < > Requirements: Star 7 selected \/ Reccomended Character: Wario One of the few levels where Wario is needed. If you didn't unlock him, there should be a yellow wario cap in the cave area. Anyways, as Wario, swim to the northern section of the level and dive to the cave. Once inside, hit the red switchblock to release a flower that will turn you into medal. Within the time limit, head back to the circle area and walk to the middle, where the jet stream is. Since you are made of medal, you will be weighed down and won't be swept away by the current. Walk to the middle to get the star. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| The Secret Aquarium [CSS03] |___________________) O=====================================O /\ Star #1: 8 Red Coins < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Start, by swimming to the ground, and getting the first red coin from the corner, ahead to your left. Then, swim around the room, grabbing a red coin from each corner, until you pick up the fourth one. After the fourth one, swim upward, and get another coin from the middle of a circle of normal coins. Then, swim around the room heading clockwise, picking up a red coin from a circle on each side of the room. The star will then appear on the bottom of the room, in the center of the ground. Swim down and grab it. Red Coin List: 1 - On the floor in one corner. 2 - On the floor in another corner. 3 - On the floor in the third corner. 4 - On the floor in the last corner. 5 - In a circle of normal coins on the side of the room. 6 - In a circle of normal coins on another side of the room. 7 - In a circle of normal coins on the third side of the room. 8 - In a circle of normal coins on the last side of the room. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Cool, Cool Mountain [LVL04] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, walk left of the main stairs, past the wooden door. Enter the store with a star on it, with a 3. Jump into the picture. /\ Star #1: Slip Slidin' Away < > Requirements: Star 1 Selected \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi At the start of the level, jump on to the top of the cottage on your right, and then upto the Chimney on top of it. Jump into it, following the column of coins. You will then find yourself inside the cottage, in front of a slope that you can slide down. As you can guess, that's exactly what you will be doing. Slide along the path, *S1 picking up the coins if you can, until you pass a trail of coins leading into the wall. *S2 Pass them, and keep going until you reach a trail of ice. Cross it, to finish the course. Just go through the door on your left, and the star will be right in front of you. *S1 At several locations, it is possible to jump or fall off the track, and land further along. It is safest to just stay on the track, though. *S2 If you follow the trail of coins into the wall, you will pass through the wall, into a hidden tunnel with some extra lives. It will drop you off at a wooden ledge. Jump off the side of the ledge, and you'll fall down to the end of the race track, past the finish line. /\ Star #2: Li'l Penguin Lost < > Requirements: Character other than Yoshi \/ Reccomended Character: Mario At the start of the level, jump up onto the cottage chimney, and then backflip onto the ledge above that, where there's a little penguin walking around. Grab him to pick him up, then jump back down to the ground next to the cottage. Run to the left, around it, and jump onto the slope. Slide along the path, picking up as many coins as possible, until you reach the bottom, where there is a red coin and a pink Bob-omb. For a shortcut, you can fall off the path and land on the ground below, but that can be risky. While still holding the penguin, walk to the right, past the snowman head, and begin to cross the rope bridge on your left. There are two jumping snowmen on it, so watch out. Wait for them to jump, and then run under them - This will be much easier if you wait for them to turn around and face you. When you reach the other side of the bridge, walk down the wooden ramp, onto another cottage. A snowman will jump out of the snow halfway down, and there's a flower enemy as well, but avoid both, and you can make it to the bottom easily. You could also just jump, because you won't take any damage due to the snow. At the bottom, bring the little penguin to the big penguin standing on the ice puddle, for a star. /\ Star #3: Big Penguin Race < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario This star is just another raceway through the slope inside the cabin. Jump into the chimney of the cottage again, to get inside, where a big penguin will be waiting for you. Talk to her, and she'll challenge you to a race. To win her star, you have to beat her in a race without using the hidden tunnel, or jumping of the edge of the platform to land on a later section of the course. Make sure to hold the D-Pad forward for speed, ride down on your stomache, and make tight turns, and you'll beat the penguin, picking up the star she has. /\ Star #4: Frosty Slide For 8 Red Coins < > Requirements: Yoshi \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi At the start of the level, jump up the the ledge above the cottage where the baby penguin is. Then, head to the left a bit, to find a camp fire. Stick Yoshi's tongue into it, and he will pick up a shot of heat breath. Use it to melt the ice block to the right of where the penguin is, to reveal the first coin. Then, drop back down to the ground, and go to the right, where there is a broken rope bridge. Stand at the edge of it, and you will activate a warp to the bottom of the mountain - Right next to another red coin. Grab it, and walk off of the rope bridge that you appeared on. When you are in open area again, head east around some Goomas, and walk around the corner of the mountain. Walk slowly to get the red coin near the edge, without slipping off the edge. Then, turn around and run in the opposite direction, towards the penguin mother, and the cabin. There are two trees near there. Climb the second one to reach a red coin at the top; This will also unleash another owl, which you can grab to fly around. After you have four coins in your poclet, take the ski-lift on your left, to reach a new platform, and a fifth red coin. From where you get off the ski-lift, head past the snowman head, and the orange boxes, towards the slope leading to the top of the mountain. Near the wall on the right, will be a pink Bob-omb with a red coin. Pick up the coin, then turn around and head back to the ski-lift. However, instead of getting on it, jump into the cannon in the nearby area. Take aim to the ledge above and to the right of the orange boxes. It's likely you will hit the wall when you are aiming - Jump and do a groun pound on the ledge to avoid sliding off. On this ledge, there's another iceblock and another fire. Grab the fire and spit it at the ice block to melt it, and reveal another red coin. Drop back to the ground on the left, after picking up the coin, and then head towards the rope bridge on your right, with the bouncing snowmen. Cross the bridge by ducking under the snowmen when they jump into the air. On the other side, there's another broken bridge; This one has a red coin on it. Go and pick up the coin, totalling eight, and the star will appear on the other side of the broken bridge. Get some speed and do a long jump across, to reach the star. Red Coin List: 1 - In the ice block above the first cabin. 2 - On the bridge, near the warp. 3 - Around the corner, on the right, from the bottom warp bridge of the level. 4 - On top of the tree with the Owl in it, near the second cabin and the ski-lift. 5 - On the top of the ski-lift. 6 - Near the pink bob-omb, near the snowman head. 7 - On the ledge near the snowman head, in a block of ice. 8 - On a broken bridge, after the bridge with the two jumping snowmen on it. /\ Star #5: Snowman's Lost His Head < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Mario Jump up onto the roof of the cabin, to begin with, and then up to the ledge that the small penguin is on. Head left to where there's a camp fire, and then jup off of there, to the left, to land on a wooden platform, with a snowball on a pedestal. Talk to it, and you will learn that it is a snowman body, without a head attatched. It will say that it will follow you, but that's only if you are in front of it. So, what you have to do, is quickly begin sliding down the slope ahead of you. Press forward, so that you go faster and stay ahead of it. As soon as you reach the bottom, jump up and begin running forward. Run past where the pink bob-omb and the red coin are, and you'll find yourself next to the snowman head on the pedstal that you've seen in previous goals. Stand in front of it, and if you beat the snowball down the slide, and actually stayed on the slope, soon, the snowball will begin rolling towards you. Wait until it gets close, and then jump out of the way, and the snowman will give you a star as thanks for getting the head and body together. /\ Star #6: Mario's Super Wall Kick < > Requirements: Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Mario This star is relatively well hidden, and can be tricky to find, if you don't know where to look. Head down the slope to the left of the cabin, and slide down until you reach the bottom. Then, run forward, to where the snowman is, and drop to the ledge on the right, where there's a flower enemy floating around. Now, here's the tricky part: Jump onto the flower's head, and Mario will begin spinning in the air. While spinning, steer Mario to the left, towards where the star is on the touch screen map, even after passing below the ground level, in the air. Soon, you will approach a solid area. Steer Mario to it, and drop to it when you are there. Follow along this ground, until you reach a wall, and do a wall jump, onto the platform above. Run to the next wall from there, and do another wall jump. From the top, you will see the star in sight, just across an ice path. Walk slowly and carefully across the ice, and grab the star. /\ Star #7: Switch Star of Cool, Cool Mountain < > Requirements: Wario \/ Reccomended Character: Wario At the start of the level, head to the right, and take the bridge warp to the bottom of the mountain. Then, head to the left, to where the ski-lift is. Board the lift, and ride it up half way, so that you pass a floating piece of land with a pink Bob-omb and a switch. When you reach it, jump of onto it, and hit the switch. After hitting the switch, pull of a long jump back to the bottom of the lift. Run over to the frozen pond, and do a ground pound to smash it open, revealing the star. If you get there before the switch goes off, the star is yours. /\ Star #8: 100 Coins < > Requirements: Yoshi \/ Reccomended Character: Yoshi Here is yet another list of coins for you to collect. This list assumes that you are playing on star seven, and have selected Yoshi; Remember, two of the red coins are frozen, and require Yoshi to be accessed. (0-5) Climb onto the cabin, and get the five coins above the chimney. (5-7) Move to the left and get some fire, and then melt the ice block containing the red coin. Grab the coin. (7-10) Move back to the left where the wooden platform is, and jump on the flower enemy for three coins. (10-25) Drop to the slope below, and slide down, collecting 15 coins. (25-35) When you reach a hill, next to some ground without snow, jump to the ground before you continue sliding. Hit the blue coin switch and collect the two blue coins that appear. (35-40) Jump back on the slope, and slide down, getting 5 more coins. (40-42) Get the red coin near the wall, at the bottom. (42-45) Head forward, and to the right of the snowman, and jump on the flower enemy. Getthe three coins from him. (45-47) Go and get the red coin from the top of the ski-lift. (47-49) Take the cannon to get to the ledge near the orange boxes. Melt the ice up there for a red coin. (49-51) Drop off the right side of the ledge and pick up the red coin. (51-57) Head down the ramp on the right, towards the second cottage. When you reach a snowman and a flower enemy, make an egg out of the flower enemy, and toss it at the snowman. Six coins there. (57-59) Drop to the cottage below, and get the red coin from the tree on the left. (59-62) Head to the right and take out the three Goombas for a coin each. Make sure to pick up the Mario hat. (62-64) Get the red coin from around the corner on the right. (64-66) Get another coin from the bridge near you. (66-143) Take the warp back to the top, and enter the cabin. There are 77 coins along the slide that you can get. (143-149)Take the cannon near the ski-lift and aim at the tree across the huge chasm. Turn the corner on the platform you land on, and take out the two flower enemies for six coins each. (149-157)Turn the corner, and pick up the eight coins that form the arrow. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Toad One [TOAD1] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, head through one of the wooden doors next to the main stairway. Then, head down a flight of stair in the room with the red carpet. Go through the locked door - the key to it is in the Bowser in the Sky stage. Then, walk down another short stairway, and enter the basement via the door on your right. Head to the right in there, and go through the door with a star on it. /\ Star #1: Toad < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Any In this game, there are three Toads that will give you a star, for simply just hearing them out. The first of these Toads, is in the same room as the entrance to the Hazy Maze Cave stage. Head down the stairs to the floor, and talk to Toad who is standing near one of the walls in the corner to get a star. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Hazy Maze Cave [LVL06] |___________________) O=====================================O Location: From the lobby of the castle, head through one of the wooden doors next to the main stairway. Then, walk down another short stairway, and enter the basement via the door on your right. Head to the right in there, and go through the door with a star on it. In the room you enter, jump into the puddle in the middle of the room. /\ Star #1: Swimming Beast in the Cavern < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Luigi Head left at the beginning of the level, and head forward until you reach a large chasm in the floor. Do a long jump to get to the other side of it, then go the door that's there. You will enter a large room, standing on a fence-like ground. Head to the right and jmup on the spider enemy, and you will find another door. Don't go through it though. Keep following the path you are on, until you reach a platform covered in grass. Here, move to the left, against the wall; Huge boulders are going to be falling from ahead, and rolling down the hill you are on. There are some coins and a heart in an alcove on the left wall, halfway up, in case you make a mistake, but you should be fine. When you reach the top of the hill, head to the right, and go through another door. You will be in a room divided by a fence. There's a star on the other side, but don't worry about that now. Instead, hit the yellow block for a one-up, then stand on the elevator platform in the middle of the room, to go to another area below. When you land, there will be a hill in front of you. Head down it, punching or jumping on the three Goombas, to reach the water. By this time, you should notice a Wario cap moving around on the touch screen map. From the water, you can see a large monster swimming around, wearing the cap! Don't worry though, the monster is harmless. Swim over to it, and jump on it's back, and do a ground pound. This will cause him to lower his head, allowing you to take the hat, and become Wario! While Wario, swim to the platform in the middle of the water, and punch the boulder. It will shatter, revealing a star. /\ Star #2: Elevate for 8 Red Coins < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Luigi At the start of the level, head to the right past the spider enemy; Jump on him if you want a few coins. A little bit ahead, you will reach a hole in the ground. When you get close to it, a spider will jump up in front of you. If you jump on it, another one will just jump out to replace it, so just keep going. After that, there are two Goombas - One with a Wario hat. You don't need the hat now, so just keep going. Walk around the next hole on the right, and you'll find yourself standing in front of another chasm in the ground - This one with fire spurting out of it every few seconds. Wait for the fire to go down, then do a long jump across and go through the door. In the next room, you'll enter onto a platform in the air with a pole next to it. *S1 Grab onto the pole, and slide down, so that you fall to the ground. As soon as you land, head to the right, up the ston stairs. When you reach the top step, do a backflip to the ledge above. Then, move to the right onto the elevator platform. While on this platform, you can step on any of the four buttons on it to change direction. There's one arrow for each direction. *S1 You can also reach the elevator by jumping off the top of the pole you see when you enter the room. This only works with Luigi though, and is relatively hard to do. There are three orange boxes floating in the air, around the room. Two of them contain red coins, and the other just three normal coins. Navigate the elevator platform to the boxes, and punch them, then navigate it to the corner on the left side of the room, where the third red coin resides. After grabbing the third coin, either steer the platform back to where you got onto it, or jump to the floor and go back there yourself. Reguardless of which method you use, when you get there, jump to the next platform, and climb the pole to a platform above. Up there, is another moving platform, but this one is on a set path; That is, you have no control over it. When you reach an orange box, punch it for the fourth coin. The fifth one is in the middle of the path in the open. If you stand in the center of the platform, you will get it, as simple as that. The next coin, is above a hurdle on the platform. As you reach it, jump to get the coin, then land back on the platform. After that, you will approach a larger platform with two coins on it. Jump to it, and grab both coins, to make eight in total. The star will then appear on the ground. Jump down to get it. Red Coin List: 1 - In an orange box on the "first level" elevator area. 2 - In an orange box on the "first level" elevator area. 3 - On the ledge, in the corner of the room. 4 - In an orange box on the "second level" elevator path. 5 - In the middle of the "second level" elevator path. 6 - Above a hurdle on the "second level" elevator path. 7 - On the platform near the end of the "second level" elevator path. 8 - On the same platform as the seventh coin. _ /\ |\ | |¯¯| ¯|¯ |_ \/ | \| |__| | |_ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From this point on, many of the stars in this level require that you have Wario. Although it is possible to proceed by using the Wario hats that are around the level, it is much more efficient to wait until you unlock Wario before you go for these stars. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- /\ Star #3: Metal-Head Wario Can Move < > Requirements: Wario \/ Reccomended Character: Wario Head to the left at the beginning of the level, and do a long jump over the hole in the ground. Then, go through the door. You will again find yourself in the room with a fence-floor. Head around it, jumping on the spider, so that you are on the side with the rolling boulders. Stick to the left wall, so that you aren't hit when the boulders roll by. At the top, head to the right and go through the door. Then, in the next room, ride the elevator to the floor below. When you arrive on the new floor, step off of the elevator platform. Then, hit the red block in the air, and pick up the power flower, to become Metal Wario! Before the effect wears off, run down the path in front of you, either doing dives to take out the Goombas, or ignoring them completely. When you reach the water, continue following the path, along the water floor. You will reach a switch at the base of some land, just before your metal effect runs out. Hit the switch, and the fence on the platform above, will slide open, giving you access to a door. Go through it, and you'll see a star, past two holes in the ground. Approach the first chasm, and a spider will jump out. Jump on it, then do a long jump to the next platform. Immediately after landing on it, do another long jump to reach the platform with a star on it. /\ Star #4: Navigating the Toxic Maze < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Wario or Luigi Start by heading to the right at the start of the level. Make your way to the door that's on the side of the room, past the hole in the ground, with fire coming out of it. Go through it, and slide down the pole that's there, to reach the ground. Then, head forward, and go left, down the hallway just past the first sign you see, and go through the wooden door. In the next room, head to the left, and jump into the hole in the floor. Make sure you have some health first (collect the coins near the hole) or else when you land, the gas will kill you. After landing, head forward, and hit the red block. Pick up the power flower to become immune to the gas (This only works for Wario and Luigi.) Head forward, to the platform with the blue coin box, and heart from there. Heal yourself with the heart, then head left, and hit another red box to replenish your invisibility, or "metality". Head past the bats, and keep going, until you see some green moss-like stuff hanging from the wall on your right. When you reach this part, backflip up onto it, and go through the door. In the next room, walk through the hallway, picking up coins, and board an elevator platform. Ride it to the floot above, where you will be behind a fence with a star. This is the star you saw when you went for the "Swimming Beast in the Cavern" star. /\ Star #5: A-Maze-Ing Emergency Exit < > Requirements: None \/ Reccomended Character: Luigi Once again, make your way back to the toxic maze. And once in the toxic maze, hit the red block again, so that you can breathe. And again, make your way back to the blue coin block. This time, however, hit the coin block. Turn around directly after hitting it, and you will see a path of blue coins. Follow them, and they will leady you to a wall. Backflip at this wall, and you will find a ledge. Walk through the door on the ledge, and you will be brought to a tunnel room. Walk through the tunnel, and you'll find another elevator platform. Ride it to a ledge above, then get off and walk through the door. You will then find yourself in that room with the fenced ground, only this time you will be on a ledge far above! Walk to the edge, and jump up, and grab the ceiling. Then, climb along it, hanging, and follow the path of coins to the right. When you are above a floating platform, drop down and grab the star. /\ Star #6: Watch for Falling Rocks < > Requirements: Wario \/ Reccomended Character: Wario Head to the left at the start of the level, and do a long jump over the chasm in the ground. Once past it, go through the door in the wall, to reach the room with the boulders in it. Run around the rooom, to reach the hill that the boulders are on, but don't go up it. Instead, keep going to the left, until you find a steel block. Punch it, and a Mushroom will come out. Touch it, to transform into a huge size. While big, head back to the hill with the boulders, and simply run into the giant rocks as they fall down. After you smash a couple rocks, a star will appear directly in front of you. Walk forward and take it. /\ Star #7: Underound Switch Star < > Requirements: Wario , Luigi/Mario \/ Reccomended Character: Wario Head to the right, and navigate past all the Spiders, Goombas, and holes in the ground. When you reach the door, go through it, and slide down to the ground via the pole on the other side. Now, head to the top-right corner of the room. There, you'll find a steel box, and two Goombas; One with a Mario hat, and one with a Luigi hat. Smash the steel box to reveal a switch, but then switch to Luigi or Mario before pressing it. The star is too far away to get with Wario in time. As Luigi or Mario, hit the switch, then run to the opposite side of the room, to the stairs leading to the elevator with the arrows on it. Climb up the stairs, and jump onto the platform, then do a long jump from the elevator, to the platform next to it, where the star is in a crystal ball. Smash the crystal ball before time runs out, and the star is yours. /\ Star #8: 100 Coins < > Requirements: Wario* (See Below) \/ Reccomended Character: Wario* (See Below) Now, this level has a few coins near the end that are extremely annoying to get. For example the Spider in the last room of "Metal-Head Wario Can Move" is evil. It is 100-percent possible to get well over 100 coins with a character like Luigi. In fact, it's much easier. However, to get all the coins, you need to play as Wario. Also note, when you run into an enemy like a Goombas, as Metal Wario, you get two coins. Those are not accounted for in this list, so it's possible to get more coins than what is actually listed here. This list uses star 7. (0-3) Jump on the Spider near the start for three coins. (3-6) Smash the crate near the map on the wall for three more coins. (6-9) Head to the right, and jump on the spider that jumps from the hole in the ground, for three more coins. (9-11) Jump on both Goombas past the first hole. (11-16) Pick up all the coins on the ledge to the right of the next hole. (16-19) In the next room, slide down the pole, and go straight. Take out the first Spider you see. (19-21) Head to the right, and take out both Goombas for a coin each. (21-37) Use both elevators to get the red coins. (37-40) Get the three coins from the orange box on the first elevator too. (40-45) Also on the first elevator, stop on the platform with the eyeball, and run around him until he drops a blue coin. (45-48) Take out another spider on the ground. (48-53) Proceed to the toixc maze, and get the five coins near the entrance. (53-55) Once inside, jump on the Shy Guy for 2 coins. (Hard to do.) (55-90) Go and hit the blue coin box, then grab all the coins in the path of blue coins that appears. 7 coins worth 5 each makes 35 coins. (90-92) Kill the Shy Guy near the end of the coin path. (Extremely Hard.) (92-96) Kill the four bats to the right of there. This is easiest to do by running into them as Metal Wario. (96-98) And kill another Shy Guy to the right of there. (98-100) One more Shy Guy is near the orange box in the maze. (100-105)Take the path you took in "Navigating the Toxic Maze" and pick up the five coins in the tunnell. (100-107)Take out the two bats in the tunnell as well. (107-112)Head back to the maze and take the "Emergecy Exit" exit. Go through the tunnel, then ride the elevator. At the top, go through the door, then grab onto the ceiling, and pick up the five coins there. (112-115)Now, jump to the ground below (Prepare for some damage.) And take out the Spider that's there for three coins. (115-120)Go and pick up the coins on the hill with the boulders on it. (120-128)Head through the door at the top of the hill, and pick up all 8 coins on the ground, forming a circle. (128-131)Run down the hill, taking out the three Goombas. (131-139)Swim to the center platform in the water, and grab 8 coins off of it. (139-142)Go back up the ramp, and become Metal Wario. Then, run back down and hit the switch underwater, to open the fenced off door. Go through it, and punch out the Spider for three coins. _____________________ ________________________/ \________________________ ( \_______ 06. As you search, the clock ticks down, and if it reaches zero, you lose. However, when you touch the correct face, you get five seconds added. Be careful though, a wrong face will take ten seconds off! The first three levels are simple grids, but after that, things will get tricky. The faces wil overlap, they will move, be partially covered/off the screen, et cetera. Your best bet, is to memorize what the face looks like, and specifically focus on colors, if you are looking for Mario or Wario. Unfortunately, things get tricky when you get Luigi/Yoshi in a difficult crowd, as they are the same color. ================================YOSHI GAME 2================================== Name: Loves me...? Unlock: --- Rules: Play this mini-game for advice on your love life! Pluck the petals to find out how your crush feels about you. Description: This isn't actually a game, but... Oh well. You can pluck a petal off the flower by touching it on the touchscreen - For some fun, you can drag it aroudn a bit, before letting go of it, so it falls. Witch each pluck the words "Loves Me" and "Loves Me Not" will switch. Getting "Loves Me" at the end is the "good" ending, but you have no control in it whatsover. ================================YOSHI GAME 3================================== Name: Hide and Boo Seek Unlock: Rabbit in front of the bridge to the castle. Rules: Rub the Touch Screen where the Boos are hiding! For the first 15 levels, you get 3 seconds to find them. After that, you only get 2 seconds. Description: Best played with the pen that came with the DS. Anyways, the main objective of Hide and Boo Seek is more or less a memory game. After a few seconds on screen, the lights will go out, forcing you to find them before the timer runs out. However, what makes this hard is the fact that they keep moving around in the dark and increase in numbers each round (and get faster over time). Best thing to do is to rub the section of the screen they were on as soon as the lights go out. ================================YOSHI GAME 4================================== Name: Puzzle Panel Unlock: Rabbit in front of the bridge to the castle. Rules: Match the Touch Screen picture to the top screen. Touch a panel to turn over the surrounding panels. Harder levels will take more turns to solve. Description: Remember those scattered puzzle games you played as a kid? No? Well, anyways, the main goal of this mini-game is to match up the bottom screen with the top screen within the allowed turns. You have 3 lives, and can only choose based on the number of turns you have (for example, if the screen says you have one turn, you can only choose once that life). The puzzle itself is divided into a 4x4 square. To score a point, you much touch one of the 20 squares to match it up with the top (For example, if the top screen shows two blocks on each side, and the touch screen has most of the blocks in the center, press the block on the 3 block of the third row, and so on). ================================YOSHI GAME 5================================== Name: Boom Box Unlock: Rabbit in front of the bridge to the castle. Rules: Each time you open a treasure chest, you hear a sound. Open 2 chest with the same sound. Win by matching all the pairs! Description: Yeah, it's basically the Luigi matching mini-game, but with different sounds! Same rules apply, 3 lives, match up the 3 pairs of sounds before you run out of lives, and so on. Best you have your sound up so you can hear them, obviously. ================================YOSHI GAME 6================================== Name: Tox Box Shuffle Unlock: In the drained moat, near the door to the basement. Rules: Oh no! Yoshi's trapped in a Tox Box! Find which one he's in to save him! Description: Remember those cup shuffling games when you were a kid? Same thing applies. You have 3 lives, and 3 boxes to choose from. Like the cup games, the boxes will trade places with other boxes at different speeds, so it's best you keep track. Later on, the boxes will become faster, and will add other color Yoshi's (when that happends, you have to keep track of both, because the computer will randomly ask for a random color). ================================YOSHI GAME 7================================== Name: Which Wiggler? Unlock: In the hedges near where the game started. Rules: Touch the Wiggler on the Touch Screen that matches the one on top screen. Choose carefully, though: he has a terrible temper. Description: Matching game...but with Wigglers! You start off with 20 seconds and 3 wigglers on the bottom screen and the one you have to match on the top screen. Touch the one that matches the top one, and you will get a time bonus. Touch the wrong one, and you will get a major time deduction. At first it's pretty simple, but you will get more variety of wiggers on the bottom screen each round, and they eventually move around, which not only makes it harder, but waste time. The game is over once the clock reaches 0. ============================================================================== ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Mario Games [MGAME] |___________________) O=====================================O Name: Mario's Slides Unlock: --- Rules: Guide Mario down the slides to the star. Draw lines on the touch screen to create new routes for him. Collect 5 stars to move up a stage. Description: This is a fun one. At the start, a Mario head will be on the top screen, sliding down lines that you can't interact with. Whenever he passes a line, he will follow it - You can draw these lines on the bottom screen. At the bottom, are some pipes, some with Piranhas and some with Stars. The amount of each, depend on your current level. The idea is to use the lines to lure Mario to the star. After doing so, he will start back up at the top. Do this give times, to move up a level - Be careful though, the lines you make don't change until you get all five, so you'll need to think ahead! In upper levels, there will be more lines, some lines already on the bottom screen, more mario heads, et cetera. It can get tricky, but remember, you can put more than one Mario head on the same star. Name: Bounce and Pounce Unlock: --- Rules: Mario's in a freefall, but he can bounce back if you touch him. Stomp the Fly Guys, but make sure he doesn't fall off the touch screen. Description: In this game, there will be Fly Guys hovering on the bottom screen and three Marios on the top screen. You wait for the Mario's to fall down, and if they are about to land on a Fly Guy, let them, because you will move on to the next level. If not, however, poke them with a stylus, before they fall off. If one of the Marios falls off, they will come back, but you will get an X. Three Xes and you are out! As the levles proceed, the Fly Guys take different formations, and will move. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Luigi Games [LGAME] |___________________) O=====================================O Name: Memory Match Unlock: --- Rules: Pick two matching cards to make them dissapear. Clear all cards to win. Description: This is an old-fashioned game of memory, but with a casino twist to it. The cards are layed out, and you place 3 coins up, out of your total. You then flip two cards in a row. If they match, they are removed, but if not, they are flipped back over, and you lose one of your coins. If you lose all thre coins, you put up three more, with a new set of cards put down. If you clear them all, you win some coins. You try to stay in the game as long as possible. There isn't much skill involved though, it's jsut a mix between luck (drawing the right cards to begin with) and memory, (remembering where those cards are later.) Name: Pair-a-Gone Unlock: --- Rules: Touch 2 identicle cards that are connected vertically, horizontally or diagonally to make them dissapear. Clear them all to win! Description: This game can be very tricky. What will happen, is that twenty cards will be layed out, in a 4-by-5 grid. Then, a deck of 16 cards will be placed to the side. You can connect any two cards on the grid, that are touching each other and match, to remove them. All the cards will shift a bit to fill in their slot, and if there is still a deck, cards will be drawn from their to fill in the empty space in the grid. When the deck runs out, you have to try and finish the grid, removing a many cards as possible. If you remove them all, five coins are added to your total. If not, one coin is removed for every card left. The goal is to stay in the game as long as possible. ___________________O=====================================O___________________ (___________________| Wario Games [WGAME] |___________________) O=====================================O Name: Bob-Omb Squad Unlock: --- Rules: The parachuting Bob-Ombs are destroying your flowers! Use the slingshot to knock them out of the air. Hit Lakitu to blow them all up. Description: First of all, you have four flowers, and a slingshot on the touch screen. On the top screen, Bob-Ombs will be coming down in parachutes, and the occasional Lakitu will come down. If they touch a flower, it will die, and when you are out of flowers you lose. To fend them off, you can touch the touch screen - The stylus works best - to drag back the cannonball in the slingshot, and launch it. You can bring it in any angle, and the amount of pressure you put on it, determines how far the cannon goes. If you fire lightly, the ball will even fall back down in an arc, taking ou more Bob-ombs! For each Bob-Omb you get, you will get 100 points. If you hit more than one with the same ball, however, it goes up to 200, then to 400, then to 800, et cetera. Hitting a Lakitu blows everything up for only 100 points each, but he can really save you when the Bob-Ombs start coming down rapidly; AS they come down faster and in more numbers, the higher your score is. AS one final tip, if there are Bob-Ombs near your flowers, you can actually drag the cannonball behind them, and launch it, to take them out instantly. Name: Snowball Slalom Unlock: --- Rules: Rub the touch screen to roll the snowman's head to the goal before time runs out! Rocks will slow you down, as will touching his head! Description: The idea of this one, is to rub the screen, in front of where you want the snowball to go, but avoid touching it. The length of the course compared to your position, is represented by a bar with your snowball on it, to the right of the touch screen. You are supposed to try to make it to the end of the course. _____________________ ________________________/ \________________________ ( \_______ 07.
