Copyright Information ---Updates--- March 9, 2002: I've just started with this guide and therefore 0.01 today. As always, 0.01 is not a public release and will never be seen by public eyes. March 10, 2002: 0.1 is ready for public release. About half of the bosses are included, the rest to be added in within the week. On a side note, as of today, I'm 15 years of age. March 11, 2002: (0.5) I've added three more bosses, leaving only three more remaining that need to be included. Also, updated the introduction a little, added the system into the heading, and added a website that can host this at the bottom. ---Introduction--- Welcome to my Eve of Extinction Boss Guide. I've decided to write this because at this time, the game is fairly new, and as of yet, there are no FAQs, walkthroughs, or guides on this game... and therefore, a lot of people have had questions regarding how to do this, defeat that, etc. Also, before I go on anymore, I want to get something out of the way. The Eve of Extinction Boss Guide's purpose is to help people having trouble with or just curious about the bosses within the game. This guide isn't made just to tell how to defeat each boss, but to give a small background of each (the database info from the game), and other miscellaneous information. That's all it's meant to due. There is no implied meaning within, so don't even look. ---Areas and Bosses--- Area 1: Office District - Hans Area 2: Chinatown - Raven (Part I) - Viper Area 3: Wisdom Base - Vixen - Zera Area 4: Airship: Gaap - Raven (Part II) Area 5: Guiana Highlands - Z - Magnus - Dr. Wiseman ---Boss Statistics--- Dr. Wiseman Area: Guiana Highlands Legacy Weapon: Boomerang Database Info: Code name: Dr. Wiseman (Real name erased from records) A cunning misanthrope. The brain of our organization. He was formerly a successful biochemist, but he was ostracized for delving too deep into research considered taboo by most other researchers. Agla values his ability, and he agrees to join the Legacy project as long as he could continue his own research. His knowledge on Legacy is second only to Agla's. How to Defeat: Dr Wiseman himself is pretty pathetic, but the room you are in can make the batttle fairly challenging. To start off with, the room is split in half by a laser barrier. On one side is you and on the other, Dr. Wiseman. Also on your side, are three or four enemies, and two roaming machines. Don't worry about killing the enemies, as more will just replace them. Your goal is to take out the two machines and upon doing so the laser barrier is removed. When that's done, just rush in and slaughter poor Dr. Wiseman. Hans Area: Office District Legacy Weapon: Katar Database Info: The only non-executive officer allowed to wield Legacy. He specializes in lightning-fast attacks using a Katar Legacy. Through experimentation with his genetic cells, he has developed the power to merge his form within the dark shadows. How to Defeat: Once you get past the very initial step with Hans, he's a piece of cake. To start off, you'll notice he's merged with in the shadows, and Eliel tells you to destroy his shadow. What you need to do his is use the Rod's Legacy Drive. This will cause the chandelier to fall, and in turn, eliminate his shadow (or, in case you want a harder way, using the pole's high jump, you can actually knock the chandelier yourself, but I recommend the Legacy Drive). Now Hans is in the open, and it's just a one on one battle against him. The only attack you might need to watch out for is one where he torpedoes himself across the roam at you. When he does this, just sidestep him and not only will he fly by harmlessly, but also it'll leave him open for an attack. Magnus Area: Guiana Highlands Legacy Weapon: Broad Sword Database Info: Code name: Magnus (Real name erased from records) A true straight-shooter. A talented soldier with battle skills that match Z's. His hatred for interpersonal politics has earned him many loyal followers within the organization. He only feels alive in the heat of battle, and he only belongs to Widom in order to fight. How to Defeat: Magnus should be fought pretty much the same as you fought Z. Pay extreme caution to his attacks due to their strength and length, and also, his attacks are a bit faster than Z's. The main trouble with this fight is the fact that you may only have a few of your weapons (then again, you could have them all depending on where you go first). If you're having trouble with Magnus, try switching to your weapon that inflicts the most damage (probably the axe). With that, do not worry about rushing him, just pay close attention to his attacks, and whenever he leaves himself open, run up, make your attack, and then get away again because his attack while he stands is a good range also. Raven (Part I) Area: Chinatown Legacy Weapon: Bi Xia (Tonfa) Database Info: Yanjun Zong, code name Raven. One of our high ranking officers at Wisdom Inc. Cool-headed, but deadly. Like Calloway, he carries a Legacy. He earned the name "Raven" for his incredible skills in battle and he occupies a special place in the Wisdom organization. His Legacy, Bi Xia, takes the form of a pair of tonfas. Combined with his battle abilities, the weapon draws out his true combat potential which provides a great service to our company. Having witnessed much carnage, he does not forgive rash acts of violence and therefore has alienated himself somewhat in the company. How to Defeat: All in all, there's no real trick in fighting Raven. If you're having trouble, then don't rush attacking him... wait until he attacks, and then counterattack when he leaves himself open. Also, don't stand too close to him when he's getting up since he does having a rising attack. Raven (Part II) Area: Airship: Gaap Legacy Weapon: Bi Xia (Tonfa) Database Info: * refer to Raven (Part I) * How to Defeat: In truth, there's nothing really new in this battle. Just think of it as a continuation from Chinatown. There's nothing new to really watch out for, so just fight him like you did the first time and you shouldn't have a problem. Viper Area: Chinatown Legacy Weapon: Snake Sword Database Info: Code name: Viper (Real name erased from records) The youngest official of Wisdom Inc., he received training at an early age at the Wisdom Training Camps. Even as a rookie member of Wisdom, he showed enough potential to be appointed to clean out New York Chinatown and conquer the Chinese Mafia. After successfully accomplishing this duty, he was awarded the executive rank of official for his talent and ambition. Narcissistic almost to a point of obsession, he has a high opinion when it comes to the subject of beauty, but his basis of beauty can be incomprehensible. Moreover, trying to understand his motives proves to be extremely difficult. How to Defeat: When fighting Viper there are only two things you really have to keep in mind. First off, he likes to get on top of the six structures of the room. From there, he can hit you, but you can't hit him without a Legacy Drive. The thing to do here, is hit the gong on the structure on which he is standing. This will send him soaring into the floor. The second thing is his range. When you're fighting him on the floor, remember to watch out for the range of his attacks. Although the sword itself may be small, he can let the blades loose so that it reaches much further than it should. Besides this, just fight him like you would anyone with extra caution. Vixen Area: Wisdom Base Legacy Weapon: Crossbow Database Info: Codename: Vixen (Real name erased from records) The only female official of Wisdom Inc. She has an extremely destructive and unpredictable personality. Common sense means nothing to her nihilistic nature. Rumor has it that she only belongs to our organization to satisfy her appetite for destruction, but the truth remains unknown. How to Defeat: Okay, your first fight against a boss with a ranged weapon. I personally didn't have much problem with Vixen until getting toward the end of the battle where I started getting careless. The only thing that makes this battle challenging is the laser grid in the room. The room itself is split into thirds. The two outer ones are safe, and where Vixen will always be unless she's moving. The inner one on the other hand is split again into two squares. Every once in awhile, lasers will pop up around the perimeter of the squares, creating an effective barrier. Whether you're on the same side as Vixen, across the room, or in one of the squares, the rule is simple... don't touch the lasers. If you're not close to her, just dodge her attacks until the barriers go down and charge. Keep in mind that Vixen is extremely weak in close and will run, so don't worry about being too cautious. As long as you dodge the laser grids, then you shouldn't have any trouble at all with this battle. Z Area: Guiana Highlands Legacy Weapon: Giant Axe Database Info: Code name: Z (Real name erased from records) A very stoic and quiet man. Formerly a hitman for Wisdom's rival organization under orders to assassinate Alga. Alga repelled his attack with ease. He attempted suicide thereafter, but Agla praised his ability highly, and he became a Wisdom official. He has been a loyal follower of Agla ever since. How to Defeat: Z not only has strength on his side, but a pretty good reach too... and he can pull off a five hit combo -_-. Luckily for you, he speed is his major downfall. Just watching where he attacks will save you a lot of trouble, though he does have one that can be annoying (besides the combo). This would be his attack where he stomps and causes small boulders to rain down into a small area around him (and they continue to rain down for awhile after he's done). But still, if you watch for the rocks, you shouldn't get hit more than once or twice if any at all. Finally, the best strategy for this battle would have to be again, wait and counterattack. Zera (Part I) Area: Wisdom Base Legacy Weapon: NA Database Info: Secretary of Wisdom CEO, Agla. She "eliminates" all who stand in Agla's way. Her battle skills are reportedly fearsome, though no one who has faced her has lived to tell about it. In reality, she is more of Agla's "right-hand woman" than just a secretary. How to Defeat: This isn't your usual boss fight. She won't fight aggressively for the first portion of the fight. As you attack her, she'll run down to the back of the train piece by piece. Once you finally reach the last section though, she becomes aggressive. As with Raven, there's nothing really tricky about this battle, just watch out for her attacks, counterattack when possible, and just fight her. Once you get her to about half health (give or take), the fight will end. * Note: If you take her down to the health mark before the last section of the train, nothing extra will happen. You won't be able to damage her any further to prevent you from screwing something up, and when you reach the last section of the train, the battle will simply end as usual. * ---Contact Information--- Email: rastilaerth@hotmail.com AIM: Ignus Infernus ICQ: 42477971 Feel free to contact me if you have anything to add to this guide (if a boss is not yet included, do not send info on the boss... more bosses will be added with each update until they're all here), if you have any questions not already addressed within this guide, or for whatever.
