These are Howling Stones. At each stone, you may howl a pattern of notes to call up the Wolf Spirit of one of history's greatest warriors. Each time you correctly call the spirit, he will order you to take your sword in hand (transform back into Link) and find him. He will hide in one of 7 places across Hyrule. This location is marked on your map after each time you call him (this way, you know about where to look). The Howling Stones are located at the following places: #1 Forest Temple Entrance No stone, skill is learned automatically upon entering the Temple. #2 Death Mountain When traveling up Death Mountain, you will come across a wide space in the narrow path that has steam jets all over it. The Stone is located here. #3 Upper Zora's River When traveling up to the Zora's Domain from Lake Hylia, you will come across a cabin next to the river, the Stone is located on a small outcropping near here. #4 Lake Hylia This stone can be found near the tall tower that overlooks the larger part of Lake Hylia. The ability to transform from Wolf to Human is nessescary to access this stone. #5 Sacred Grove This stone can be found just outside the entrance to the Sacred Grove, near the entrance to the Forest Temple. #6 Snowpeak Trail As you are climbing up Snowpeak Mountain, you will come across this stone near the entrance to the cave on your way to the top. #7 Hidden Village In the Hidden Village, the Howling Stone can be found in the house on the West side of town. This is the last Howling Stone to be found. Now that you know where the stones are, let's go learn some Hidden Skills. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #1| [HDNSK1]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ Time to learn your first hidden skill: ~|~The Ending Blow~|~ Skill #: 1 Stone: Forest Temple Entrace Song: ~None~ Golden Wolf: Forest Temple Entrance Use: Instantly kill a downed foe Description: This technique is unleashed by knocking an enemy down, approaching him, and pressing "A" when the command appears on the screen. Link will bring his sword down into the enemy's heart, killing it instantly. This technique is very easy to pull off and is extremely useful. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #2| [HDNSK2]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ The next hidden skill is: ~|~The Shield Attack~|~ Skill #: 2 Stone: Death Mountain Song: Song of Healing (The Legend of Zelda: The Majora's Mask) Golden Wolf: Ordon Spring Use: Create an opening for attack Description: The Shield Attack is one of the simpler Hidden Skills to use. Simply shake the Nunchuck and Link will use his shield to create an opening for attack by pushing the foe's defenses aside. While it may not sound useful, it opens the way for another Hidden Skill to be used. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #3| [HDNSK3]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ The third hidden skill is: ~|~The Back Slice~|~ Skill #: 3 Stone: Upper Zora's River Song: Oath to Order (The Legend of Zelda: The Majora's Mask) Golden Wolf: Castle Town - East Entrance Use: Hack off enemy armor and create frontal attack openings Description: This is one of the Hidden Skills you will use the most, just because of it's super effective ability to cut off armor. While it is a bit harder to pull off than some attacks, it is one of the most useful. While Z- Tagerting a foe, jump twice to the side. Link will first jump and roll around to the back of the enemy on the second roll. While in the middle of the roll, shake the Wiimote to slash the back of your enemy. This is one of my personal favorite attacks. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #4| [HDNSK4]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ Your fourth hidden power is: ~|~The Helm Splitter~|~ Skill #: 4 Stone: Lake Hylia Song: Nocturne of Shadow (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) Golden Wolf: Gerudo Desert Use: Destroy the head or head armor of an armored foe Description: Remember the Shield Attack? This is the attack that that prepares you for. Once you've used the Shield Attack to stun the foe, press A to send Link soaring through the air and bring his sword down on their head. This is extremely vital to defeating enemies who have on full armor as it removes the crucal head piece. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #5| [HDNSK5]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ The fifth and most deadly hidden skill is: ~|~The Mortal Draw~|~ Skill #: 5 Stone: Sacred Grove Song: Prelude to Light (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) Golden Wolf: Castle Town - South Entrance Use: Deal instantaneous death to your foe Description: This attack enable you to kill a foe in one hit. While this may sound like the perfect attack, it has it's drawbacks. As a foe is approaching you, sheath your sword. DO NOT Z-TARGET THE FOE! When the foe get close up to you, press A to deal a mortal blow. There are three problems with this. Number one, without Z-Targeting, it is hard to get a good bearing on your opponent. Especially if he's fast. Number two, with your sword sheathed, you really can't defend yourself against other enemies that may approach. Number three, because you stand and wait for your enemy to advance, you leave him wide open to attack you at will. Despite the drawbacks, this is my very favorite Hidden Skill. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #6| [HDNSK6]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ The sixth hidden manuever is: ~|~The Jump Strike~|~ Skill #: 6 Stone: Snowpeak Trail Song: Unknown Golden Wolf: Karikaro Village - Graveyard Use: Knock back multiple enemies when surrounded Description: Charge up a basic Jump Attack (Z + Up (Nunchuck) + A) and hold the buttons down until you hear a small ding. When you hear this, release the buttons and Link will swing his sword several different ways and do a Jump Attack. When he hits the ground, a large shockwave will be emitted from his sword, taking out multiple enemies. This attack is useful but hard to use. While it can do much good, it can also do much harm to you, as, while you are charging up your sword, your enemies are free to attack you at will. +===============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Hidden Skill #7| [HDNSK7]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +===============+ The seventh and final hidden blade power is: ~|~The Great Spin~|~ Skill #: 7 Stone: Hidden Village Song: Unknown Golden Wolf: Hyrule Castle - Entrance Use: Take out and defeat multiple enemies Description: When Link's health is completely full, shake the Nunchuck to unleash the greatest of the Hero's powers. The Great Spin. This is the ultimate attack and takes a hero to perform. This attack will commonly kill enemies in one hit and is extremely useful against bosses. While noone really knows the phsyics of this manuever, it is revered far and wide for it's awesome power. +============+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|Ending Notes| [ENDNTS]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +============+ Thanks for reading my guide on the hidden skills of The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess!
