This guide should only be found at GameFAQs.com, IGN.com, RPGamer.com, RPGRadar.com, a2zcheats.com, www.flashstand.com, Gaming-nation.com, and cheathappens.com. This guide does contain spoilers, but I will try to minimize them. Feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions, comments, or questions. However, I've been pretty busy lately, so please check my guide and specificlly the Frequently Asked Questions section, before e-mailing me. I'll try to reply to any e-mail I get, but it may take some time to get to it. I don't know any of the creators, and I'm just a fan who got bored on his paid vacation. I can only answer questions about this game. Well... except floors, I can answer flooring questions too. I'm currently missing several pieces of information. If you have some of the following, I would gladly accept a submission. I'm not really working on this game any more, but I will still keep it updated if I get some new information. I'm particularly wanting (but will still accept other submissions): * Hints and Tips / Boss strategies (good ones and well written) * The titles and skills for Jefferson's Medal Sets * Bathing Scenes * Prize lists for the lottery, both card games, and the horse game. If you submit something, please send all the info. For example, please tell me the name of the Old Book Vol. Z, and the location. ------Section 0: Contents------ Section 0 - Contents Section 1 - New This Update Section 2 - Walkthrough Trinity Site Geddoe Chapter 1 Thomas Chapter 1 Hugo Chapter 1 Chris Chapter 1 Thomas Chapter 2 Geddoe Chapter 2 Hugo Chapter 2 Chris Chapter 2 Geddoe Chapter 3 Hugo Chapter 3 Chris Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Section 3 - Frequently Asked Questions Section 4 - Star Recruitment Section 5 - Hints and Tips Section 6 - Blacksmithing Section 7 - The Library Section 8 - The Theater Section 9 - Cooking Section 10 - Building a Better Bath Section 11 - Jefferson's Medals Section 12 - Kidd Reports Section 13 - Credits ------Section 1: New This Update------ This is a total re-write, and hopefully the last update. Sorted in Alphabetical order. * Removed the Skill Limit section. Someone else is making a guide for that. * Added a Credits section. Everyone else is doing it, so I will too. ------Section 2: Walkthrough------ ----Trinity Site---- Start a new game, and continue through until you reach the Trinity Site. This is a circle with three flames. This is where you select who you wish to play as. You will have to play all three characters, so chose whichever you want. The characters are independant of each other, so any items or money gained in one story will not be carried over to the next. They can affect each other though. You will be given chances to chose your diologe and actions at various points, and they will be reflected in the other stories, but don't worry, they won't be significant. Any corpses that you loot, will not have treasure in other stories. Also, if you recruit a character with one person, you can't use them with the other characters, yet. Select any of the characters, and you will get a little scene about them, then return to the Trinity Site. Select a character a second time, and you will proceed to thier Chapter 1. These can be done in any order, but this will be written in the order I went. ----Geddoe Chapter 1---- Automatic Recruits: Geddoe, Ace, Queen, Joker, Jacques, Aila Recommended Recruits: Mike --Vinay del Xexay-- Items: Herb Seeds, Script # 2, Recipe #12 You will start off here and be introduced to the rest of Geddoe's unit. Ace will tell you about your next assignment. Explore town, and become aquainted with the game a bit. Theres not a lot happening, so when you're done, head out of town. You're next destination is the Great Hollow, so when you reach the world map, chose your only option, the Xexen Forest. --Xexen Forest-- Items: Recipe #2 Wander around, fight some monsters to get used to the combat system, and explore a little. A little ways in, you meet a man named Fred, and his assistant Rico. They leave after a brief conversation. The only thing of any intrest here is a corpse. If you search it, you'll find Recipe #2. When you exit the woods, you'll have two choices. You can head to Brass Castle, or the Yaza Plain. If you stop by Brass Castle, you can check out the shops, and get some skill training. After that, head to the Yaza Plain. --Yaza Plain-- Nothing is going on here, so don't worry about it. Head straight and you will come out on the other side. Next, head for you're destination, the Great Hollow. --Great Hollow-- Items: Old Book Vol. 3, Grape Seeds When you enter, there will be a cut-scene, and eventually, you will be allowed in. Shiba will lead you to see chief Zepon, so follow him. After your meeting with Zepon, you can explore the town. If you find a man who offers you an Iron Hammer, refuse for now. It won't hurt you to get it, but I perfer to get it with a differant character. When you are done exploring, head to the southeast door on the ground floor. You will see a short cut-scene, then follow the lizard men inside. Right away, you will be attacked. This battle will end after two rounds, so don't try too hard. Shiba will break up the fight, and join you for now. Venture further into the cavern. When you reach the end, you will find a group of knights, and some dead lizard men. You will fight the knights, and get completely whipped. Afterwards, the knights will leave, and you'll get news of trouble near Zepon's room. Return to the chief's room and get the bad news. The lizard men will go off to war, and you will decide to see the chief of the Karaya, Lucia. So leave town, and head for Plain Amur. --Plain Amur-- Nothing happening here, save if you want. I'll warn you though, the DarkHares cast lighting magic, so don't underestimate them. Continue on to the Karaya Village. --Karaya Village-- Items: Anitoxin, Medicine D As soon as you enter, you'll get into another fight, this time with Aila and some Karaya. You will probably be whipped, but you don't have to win. Jimba will stop this fight, and invite you in. Explore the town if you want, and head to Lucia's hut when you are ready, it's the rightmost red hut on the minimap. Geddoe will go inside, leaving Ace, Queen, and Joker outside. Ace and Joker will decide to get some food, so try to leave town. At the entrance, you will see Aila arguing with a strange woman. Aila chases after the woman, and you should follow. --Plain Amur-- Aila will run off, so follow her. After several cut-scenes, return to Karaya. --Karaya Village-- You will resume control of Geddoe and Queen, and will be given the choice of fighting Borus, or running. If you fight Borus and lose, you will get a game over, so run. Outside the village, you're party will regroup, and Jacques will return from hunting a rabbit. Aila will join the party, and Queen will recommend visiting Caleria. So, when you return to the world map, head in the opposite direction, and make you're way to the Lake Castle. --Budehuc Castle-- When you enter, the guard will accuse you of being bandits, and eventually the master of the castle will come out to see you. Thomas will apoligize to you, and offer to allow you to open a shop. Since you aren't merchants, you will refuse, but Ace promises to mention the castle to people who might be interested. Two things happen now. You can now recruit people with Geddoe, and Thomas' story become available on the Trinity Site. Explore the castle if you want, give your book to the librarian, and drop any unnessicary items (seeds, recipes, script, antiques) in the warehouse. Leave the castle and head for Mt. Hei-Tou. --Mt. Hei-Tou-- Items: Recipe #14, Recipe#5, Yellow Kennel Mini-boss: BlueMantrix Unique Chest Items: Old Book Vol. 12, Melon Seeds This place is optional, but it's a great place to get treasure. Explore the entire place, and loot all the corpses. If you find a dog, don't speak to it just yet. In one spot, you will see a large, blue, crab monster. If you get near it, a battle will commence. The BlueMantrix is strong, and it will take some time, but it is beatable. When you beat it, you can loot the chest. It contains a lot of cash and items. When you are done, head back to the castle to drop more stuff in the safe. I recommend this, because you will get another chest, soon. Your next destination is the Mountain Path, near Karaya Village. --Mountain Path-- Mini-boss: TwinSnake Not much going on here. Just explore some, and make sure you save at the save point. After the save point, you will encounter another Mini-boss, and this one can't be avoided. It may take a few tries to beat him. I don't really have any advice, except to take out it's left and right heads first. The main body, when alone, can't do much damage. Once you win, continue on straight, and head for Caleria. Bion Maker offered this tip for beating the TwinSnake: "First get to level 31 and sharpen your weapons to level 8." Not much, I know. But it's proof that I will put almost anything in my guide. --Caleria-- Items: Tomato Seeds Explore the town and visit the shops, but don't go to the North side of town yet. You should have a ton of money so buy some equipment and sharpen your weapons. Don't spend all your money yet though, save at least 7000p. Save at the inn, and visit Mike at the Trader. His game can be pretty hard. Read the instructions and play a few hands. If you lose all your money, reset the game. Once you win 20000p, he will join you. After he joins, go to the North part of town. Ace will go to file his reports, so go wait for him at the inn. After a few cut-scenes, the chapter will end. ----Thomas Chapter 1---- Automatic Recruits: Thomas, Cecile, Sebastian, Eike, Martha, Piccolo, Muto, Juan, Shizu Recommended Recruits: Mio, Mel, Kouroku, Peggi, Twaikin, Jeane, Ernie, Arthur, Kathy, Kidd, Belle, Gadget Z, Kenji, Goro, Augustine, Dominic, Nei, Toppo, Shabon, Scott, Gordon --Budehuc Castle-- The chapter will start with an encounter with Cecile, the captain of the guards. She will escort you to the castle, where you will meet Sebastian, the butler. Sebastien will show you to you're new room, where you will take a quick rest. When you get up, Sebastian will ask you to speak with everyone in the castle. There are six people that you have to talk to; Eike, Martha, Piccolo, Cecile, Juan, and Muto. They will fill you in on some of the back story. Once you've finished, return the the entrance hall, and speak with Sebastian. He will inform you that he must deliver a letter to the Xexan knights, and you offer to do it for him. Cecile offers to guard you on the way, and the two of you head out. --Yaza Plain-- You must pass through here to reach Brass Castle. Fortunatly, the enemies aren't as strong as they were in Geddoe's story. Once through th plains, head for Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- The only thing you can do here, right now, is to deliver the letter. Just head toward the center of town, and you will activate a cut-scene with Leo of Xexen Knights. Once inside the castle, head up the stairs (first door on the left), and enter the room on the left. You will have a little scene with Salome, who turns out to be a pretty cool guy. With the letter delivered, return home. --Budehuc Castle-- When you return, you tell Cecile that you are tired, so go to your room and rest. In the morning, you will find Sebastian outside the front door. He informs you that a child, from a neigboring town, is missing. Being the nice guy that you are, you offer to help. First you have to search the castle, making sure that you check the Library, the elevator, and the shipwreck. When none of those pan out, check with Juan. Your next stop is Mt. Hei-Tou, and Juan will join you for this one. --Mt. Hei-Tou-- If you looted the place with Geddoe, then there is nothing left for Thomas. Just keep going straight, and eventually you will find the boy, who is being attacked by a Wild Boar. The boar isn't too tough, so just use what you have. Once you beat it, return to the castle, with the boy. Return home, return the child, and take a nap. --Budehuc Castle-- The next morning, you decide to look for Sebastian. Speak to everyone, then check the entrance hall. Sebastian will inform you of the castle's financial situation, and you will decide to call a meeting. During the meeting, Martha will tell you that the castle is on land shared by Xexen and Grassland, and says that the proof is in your room. Go upstairs and search. When you find the deed, you decide to invite people to your castle, so they can open up shops. So get looking. --Iskay Village-- Items: Pale Gate Rune This should be your first stop. Explore the town, and you should run into several canidates. Watari, the ninja, will join you for 100000p, which you probibly won't have. Gordon, the supply vendor, says that you are a gentleman, but your image is tarnished by the company you keep. Make sure that you take a look at his inventory. He sometimes has a rose brooch in his Rarity list. Buy this if you can, if not, come back later. For some cash, play the lottery. If you buy 10 sequential tickets, you are guarrenteed a 4th place win (3000p). Above the inn, you will meet Tuta and Mio. Tuta wants to join you, but has to heal the sick in other towns first, so he sends his nurse, Mio, to the castle in his place. You should also meet the excentric Mel. She seems like a nice girl, but she's also a little scary. Just speaking to her is enough to get her to join. Return to the castle, and add Mel and Mio to your party. Mel is strong, and Mio automaticlly heals you, a small amount, after every battle. Your next destination should be Mt. Hei-Tou. --Yaza Plain-- He probably won't be here now, but check back periodicly. Eventually, you will find Kenji, the gym teacher. Exercise with him, then ask for water, and he will join. --Mt. Hei-Tou-- Take the first left, then the next left, and you should find a corpse. In the grass to the left of the corpse, you will see a small dog. Speak to it, and choose to adopt it. You now have Koroku, the first dog. Next, head to the Great Hollow. --Great Hollow-- Items: Sunbeam Crystal, Iron Hammer Speak to one of the Lizards gurding the chief's room, to get a Sunbeam Crystal. This is very useful for Thomas. Speak to a man in the trading post to get an Iron Hammer. Take the hammer to Peggi, the blacksmith, to get him to join. Head down to the underground caves, and you will find the Dwarf, Twainkin. He's digging holes. Cover for him, and he will join you. Thanks to Mapanahi@aol.com, for pointing out that I missed him. When you are done, head to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- You will first see Scott, who asks for a Deer Antler, which you can buy at the Vinay del Zexay Trading Post. At the Runemaster's, you will meet Jeane, who joins simply by talking to her. Next door, you will meet Ernie, who quizes you. You have to answer five questions, correctly, in a row, for her to join. There is a time limit on the questions, and if you get one wrong, you can try again right away. In the dining room of the castle, you will see Arthur. He's a reporter, and trying to discover how someone escaped the castle. Offer to help, then check the kitchen, where the culprit disappeared. Search the room, and find the hidden exit. Follow the path to the end, and Arthur will join you. Go back inside and talk to the girl banging on the barrel. She says that Gadget is missing a screw, so offer to find it for her. The screw can be found on the Plain Amur, and since we are heading to Duck Village, it's on the way. --Plain Amur-- You will win a screw here fom battling. I got mine from a PrplCreepr, but you may be able to win it from other monsters too. For now, just go straight through. Just to note, you may want to save here. --Plain of Amur - North-- You will probably be shocked to see horses, but they are supposed to be there. Talk to Kathy, who is trying to count them, and offer to help. Count the horses twice, and if you get a differant answer the second time, count them again. Report the number to Kathy, and if you get it right, she will join. If you get it wrong, she will head off. If you get in wrong, you can try again in about 30 minutes. Or, if you saved back on Plain Amur, just reset. When you are done, go on to Duck Village. --Duck Village-- Items: Old Book Vol. 5, Toy Duckling Head to the back of the inn, and you will find Kidd, investigating a murder. He will enlist your help, and ask you to find clues around the room. There are three clues, including the body. Report them back to Kidd, and he will ask you to speak with the people around town. The people you have to talk to are, Howard the janitor (who is just outside), the duck near the water wheel, and the duck in the Trading Post (not the sales duck). Report back to Kidd, and he will solve the murder. Try telling him that you are the murderer for a laugh, it won't change anything. Once the investigation is done, he will join you. Talk to Hortz VII, behind the inn, and tell him where Budehuc is, and he will go off to find it. Your next stop is Brass Castle. But, if you haven't found a screw yet, hang around the Plain Amur until you do. --Brass Castle-- Give Belle the screw, and her barrel will come to life... kind of. And since she doesn't anywhere to stay, offer the two of them a room at your place... you sly dog. We are next going to Viney del Zexay, which means a stop at the Xexen Forest. --Xexen Forest-- Take the top path, and you will find Goro, who is looking for the best trees with which to make a bath. Help him out, and he will ask if he can build it at Budehuc. Allow him to, then head on. If he won't let you help, then you will need a character with the appraisal skill in your party. --Vinay del Zexay-- Save at the entrance, and if you talk to Nei, avoid the center area, for now. Near the armorer, you will see Augustine. Speak to him, and he will show you his Rose Brooch... well he'll try. If you bought one from Gordon, give it to him, and he will join. Otherwise, come back when you have one. Enter the armorer and talk to Dominic. He will show you his Mole Armor, and offer to sell it to you. 40000p is a little high, but he is a big help. So where are you going to find that kind of scratch? Try the North Cavern. --North Cavern-- Mini-boss: Magician Unique Chest Items: Castle Kennel There isn't anything here except for the mini-boss, who is easy. He just keeps trying to cast magic, so just keep attacking him. The chest contains some cash and good items, so equip Thomas with the best stuff you can, and head back to Vinay del Zexay. --Vinay del Zexay-- Save again. If you don't have 40000p, sell some of your old equipment, then head back to Dominic's. Buy his armor, and he'll join... and you'll be stuck with some weak armor. You can sell it, but I hang onto it in the hope that I'll find a use for it. Sharpen Thomas' weapon, and upgrade any armor that you can. When you are ready, talk to Nei, the elf in aqua clothes, on the same screen as the inn. She will ask you if you've seen a little girl in strange clothes. You'll say no, but infact, you have (she was being chased when you entered the town the first time). Go to the center of town, and you'll find her being chased by a sick old man. You will ask him to stop, and he'll attack you. This fight is a duel, and Guillaume is stronger than you. Fortunatly, he defends and uses a lot of deathblows. If you think he's going to defend, attack. If he says he's going to do a deathblow, defend. If you think it will be a regular attack, defend to minimize damage, or do a deathblow, which should cancel his attack. When you beat him, Nei, Toppo, and Shabon will join you. Before you leave, make sure you buy a Deer Antler at the Trading Post. Once you do, return to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- Scott will offer 2500p for your Deer Antler. Accept and he will join you. --Budehuc Castle-- Go to the inn, and dump all of your people. Add Augustine to your party, and pay Gordon a visit. --Iskay Village-- You will impress Gordon so much, that he will open up shop at Budehuc. That's everyone for now, so head back. --Budehuc-- Head for the castle, and you will have a short talk with Cecile. Go to sleep, and Cecile will bust into your room the next morning. She'll remember that she hasn't seen Eike in weeks, so you'll have to find him. Try to leave town, and a girl will slowly come walking into town. She identifies herself as Shizu, the elevator girl. Show her to the elevator, and she will try to get it working. It will take a night to fix, so go to sleep again. The next morning, she will have it working again, and she will join you, to take care of it. She will take you on the elevator tour of your own castle, and eventually lead you to third basement level. No one has been down here before, and everyone thinks that Eike may be down here. Travel in a little ways, and the path will split. Juan and Piccolo will go one way, while you and Cecile go the other. Your path will branch off to the left at one point, and it's easy to miss, but that is the correct path. Continue to venture yet deeper, and you will run into Juan and Piccolo... literaly. At the end of the tunnel, you will find Eike, and after some diologe, the chapter will end. ----Hugo Chapter 1---- Automatic Recruits: Hugo, Fubar, Sgt. Joe. Recommended Recruits: None --Karaya Village-- After dinner, explore the village. When you finished, go to the house closest to the entrance. You'll have a coversation with Jimba, then Luce and Lucia. Lucia will give you a letter to deliver to the Xexen Council, in the morning. For now, rest up. The next day, head out of town, and have a conversation with Jimba. He will ask you to deliver a Pentacle to the Lightfellow family in Vinay del Zexay. Take it and set out. --Plain Amur-- Just head on through; nothing is going on right now. --Brass Castle-- Still nothing going on, so head through. You'll get a few cut-scenes, but nothing important. Use the Tutor if you want, as Hugo and Sgt. Joe could use some magic training. Next stop, Xexen Forest. --Xexen Forest-- More of that nothing that I've been talking about. A few cut-scenes, but that's all. --Vinay del Zexay-- Finally made it. At least there is stuff to do here. Your first stop should be the Lightfellow residence. Take the left path on the first screen, and there you are. You can take a cash reward if you want, but I give it back for free. Explore the town some, buy some equipment, or sharpen your weapons. When you finish your shopping, head to the center of town, and the Council Hall. It's good that Joe has experiance with diplomats, otherwise you'd never get in. But, when you do get in, you are sent away. Welp, you have to kill a few days until they will see you. You could keep sleeping at the inn, or try searching the town. If you go into the marketplace, near the inn, you will trigger a scene with Melville and Guillaume arguing. Afterwards, head to the runemaster. Outside, you will see a scene with Alanis and Elliot. Remember the password, then follow them. Climb the ladder and knock on the "gate". Say the correct password, and get inside. After some talking, you decide to help them look for Melville's father. Meet the kids near the edge of town, and head for the North Cavern. --North Cavern-- You'll fight some bandits here. They aren't too tough, but keep your health up anyway. Just a little ways in, you will take a break. The next morning, continue on deeper. Eventually, you will see some rhyming bandits, and you will probably be happy to beat the snot out of them. Keep going, and save at the save point, then enter the trapped room. Guillaume will trap the Xexens on one side of the gate, and the Grasslanders on the other. Hugo and the others will have to fight some more bandits, and afterwards Melville will have to duel Guillaume. After a horrific defeat, Alanis and Elliot will raise the gate, and Guillaume will run off. A few scenes later, you will end up outside. Time to head back to Zexay. --Vinay del Zexay-- As soon as you enter, you will say your good-byes. After dropping off the kids at their homes, check the Council Hall again. Still no results, so head to the inn for a rest. Check back again, and you will finally get inside. Arguing with the official won't accomplish anything, so just give him the letter and end the insults. Everyone has had it with rude Xexens, so head to the inn. If you want, buy some equipment first. Back at the inn, you will talk about wanting to get home as soon as possible, but it seems that the knights have a differant plan. Make a break for the entrance, and get in two fights with knights. The knights can dish out some pain, so use Hugo's Sleep Wind, and heal after each fight. At the gate, you will encounter Leo and Percival. They are too strong, so pick the second option to avoid a fight. You need to head back to Karaya Village, which means trips through the Xexen Forest and Brass Castle. --Xexen Forest-- I ran into a PapaHolly here, and it nearly wiped me out. Just a heads up. --Brass Castle-- Everything seems normal, until the road block. Leo and Percival will recognise you while you are waiting in line, and chase you to the kitchen. When they can't find you, they leave, and you fall into a hidden passage. The monsters down here can be tough, so be careful. When you reach the end of the tunnel, things start to look up. --Plain Amur-- On the second screen, you will see some smoke. Smoke usually isn't good, so get home as fast as you can. --Karaya Village-- When you arrive, the knights seem to be burning the place down. Lulu, in a fit of rage, attacks Chris, and is cut down in one strike. Do you stand a chance? You can find out. If you choose to attack her, the battle will end in 3 turns. The knights will leave without causing any more trouble. Bury Lulu, and the chapter ends. ----Chris Chapter 1---- Automatic Recruits: Chris, Louis, Boris, Salome, Roland Reccomended Recruits: None --Vinay del Zexay-- Don't worry about exploring the town yet, first head to the Council Hall. The Council assigns you to attend the peace negotioation with Grass land. You are joined by Louis, Salome, Borus, and Roland, and then head out. Return to town, and sharpen your weapons. There is also a shopping mall in the Council Hall, with better equipment than they have in town. Also, all of the trainers are there. You're swimming in cash, so upgrade everything you can, and train however you want. When you're done, start your journey towards Brass Castle. --Xexen Forest-- The fights are easy, so just head on through. --Brass Castle-- When you enter the castle, you'll have a cut-scene, then decide to relax. You'll have some time now to explore. Head to the right side of town, to trigger an event with Dupa, a Lizard Clan fighter. You may want to save now, but when you are ready, rest in your room. The nest day, you will be at the place where you are to negotiate the peace treaty. Peace this early in the game wouldn't be very fun, so the Lizard Clan will attack, and your first Major Battle will ensue. --Major Battle-- You won't stand much chance against nine enemies. Since you don't have to win, use this chance to become familiar with the system. Keep Chris alive until the escape route become available, then flee. You'll decide to attack Karaya Village, so that' swhere you are headed. --Karaya Village-- Salome has the great idea to burn down the village, and runs off to do so. Enter the village, and Chris will find her father's armor. After a few scenes, you will decide to retreat through the back of the village. You'll have to fight two groups of Karayans before you reach the exit, but once you do, you should make your way back to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- Ah, finally a break for Chris. After resting, go next door and speak with Salome. Apparently, the Council wants you back in Vinay del Zexay. That was a short break. Head to the exit on the Xexen side, and you will run into Leo and Percival. After the converstaion, meet up with Borus. Back to Vinay del Zexay. --Xexen Forest-- The enemies here got stronger. Be careful. Toward the end, you will encounter Fred Maximillian, and his assistant Rico. After the talk, return home. --Vinay del Zexay-- First stop, the Council Hall. Even in Chris' chapter, these guys are jerks. Right away, they assign you a new mission, to attack the Lizard Clan. Maybe this will be your chance for revenge. But now, all you can do is rest. Say goodbye to Borus, then head into your house. After a coversation with the butler, the chapter ends. ----Thomas Chapter 2---- Automatic Recruits: None Reccommended Recruits: None --Budehuc Castle-- When the chapter begins, there is no real goal. Wander around the castle, speaking to all the new people you've recruited. Play some mini-games, listen to the bards, train, sharpen your weapons, you get the idea. But everything seems to be normal. I had Piccolo read my fortune, and he said that "Some event is taking place in Iskay.", so that's where I went. --Iskay Village-- When you enter the town, you will see a Xexen Councillor and some Marshals. The councillor will ask you to take him to Budehuc castle, so take him there. --Budehuc Castle-- When you arrive, Sebastian will tell you that a councillor is on the way... A little late for that. The Councillor will see all of the illegal buisnesses, and demand that they be shut down before he returns. Head upstairs to take a nap, and Muto will be waiting for you. Assure him that everything will be fine, then go to sleep. The next day, head for the gate, and you will find the Councillor has returned, with troops. He has surrounded the castle, and won't let anyone in or out. His reason is that one of your guests is Hugo, who has a warrent for his arrest. He could just arrest Hugo, but for some reason doesn't, and you refuse to turn him over. Head back to the castle courtyard, for a meeting with your staff. Nothing is determined here, so head back toward the inn. Outside the inn, you will see two more visitors, who can't leave. Apple and Caeser offer to help you solve this problem, which meens another courtyard meeting. In this meeting, Caeser submits that if Hugo isn't here, there will be no reason for the Councillor to attack. But, you still have to fight. After the meeting, check the gate for a scene with Cecile, then head to the hall near the infirmiry, for a scene with Muto, Martha, and Piccolo. Your last stop is the library. Eike and Sebastian seem to be planning something, but Sebastian suggests that you get some rest. That sounds like a plan. The next morning, save, then go to the courtyard, and order the attack. --Major Battle-- Spoils: Counter Ring Your guys will probably be weak. It's a good thing the objective is only to survive. After a few rounds, Hugo's and Lilly's units will appear, and can escape. This battle can actually be won without any fights. If you win, you will get a Counter Ring. --Budehuc Castle-- Talk with Cecile by that gate, and you will hope that the fighting is over. However, if you leave town and re-enter, you will meet Leo and Percival in the courtyard. They will tell you that the Councillor is being punished, but also that Thomas is being replaced. Try to sleep, but you will be restless. Check the library and Eike will be researching the comman land dispute. Head downstairs and you will run into Sebastian on the stairs. Next to the infirmiry, Muto will still be working on the wall. Head back to your room, and you will find Cecile, who wanted to talk to you. Thomas will reveal some of his past, then go to bed. The next morning, Leo and Percival will be back to take you to Vinay del Zexay. At first, Cecile won't let them take you, then the others will ask to keep you for a while longer. You will decide to to stay, even though it means fighting. Leo and Percival will leave to get their armies, and you will have a chance to rename the castle, if you want. Hit the sack, and save the next morning. Head to the gate, and another battle will ensue. --Major Battle-- Spoils: Killer Crystal You can't win this one. Leo's and Percival's health will only drop to a point. Just stay alive for a while, and you will retreat. A retreat counts as a win, and you will win a Killer Crystal. --Budehuc Castle-- First, head to the inn to get two more strong characters. Rest if you need to, but you can't save. Head up the steps, and you will fight four knights. This shouldn't be too hard, just keep your health up, and take them down one at a time. Head inside, and you will eventually fight again. You can't win this one. Just defend for several turns, and you will be mysteriously saved. However, you have to fight the next group on your own. You shouldn't be too weak if you just defended, and there are only two knights this time. After the fight, Martha will bust in and break the fight up. She will show the new Councillor that the land was sold to Chief Lucia, the night before. Since he's illegally invading Grassland territory, he is forced to retreat. After several scenes, Thomas is officially the master of Budehuc Castle, which is now a free land. This ends the chapter, and all of Thomas' story. Don't worry though, all that hard work won't be in vain. ----Geddoe Chapter 2---- Automatic Recruits: None Reccomended Recruits: Edge --Caleria-- First, head stop by the tavern, and pick up Ace and Aila. This isn't nessicary, but it makes the next step a little funnier. Head up the stairs, between the Trading post and the Rune Sage, to trigger an event. Afterwards, head back to the inn and meet up with Joker and Queen. After watching the Harmonian Army leave town, yo head back inside to plan your next move. You decide to head to Le Buque, so that's where you should go. When you can control your party again, return to town and make sure you have shapened your weapons, bought armor, and trained you skills, then save, and head out. --Mountain Path-- Items: Recipe # 7 Mini-boss: Rock Golem Unique Chest Items: Beutiful Kennel Head back toward the crossroads, and you will see that the Twin Snake has been replaced with a Rock Golem. You don't have to fight him, but if you beat him, you get that chest behind him. It contains some great stuff, so give it a try. Using Aila's Clay Guardian is a good idea, and make sure she uses her Great Blessing when you need healing. Unleash everything you can on this guy, because you basicly have until your healing magic runs out. After you win, or decide to not fight, take the north path. Make sure you pick up the recipe off the corpse, before you reach the end. --Le Buque-- Itmes: Arabian Kennel, Script # 4, Herb Seeds As soon as you enter, you will be attacked by three guys riding on bugs. For this fight, take out the men first, then the bugs. You don't have to win, because the Masked Bishop will break up the fight. After being let into town, you will see Franz arguing with some other locals. You are now free to explore the town, but you can trigger a scene by walking near the Trading Post. Aila will run off and chase Sarah. Follow her, and you will overhear part of a conversation between Sarah and the Masked Bishop. You may have noticed the man standing near the Rune Sage. Speak to him, and he will offer to duel you. For 1000p, you will have a chance to win his sword. If you lose, just heal and try again. If you win, he will join you, instead of giving you the sword. Head back to the Northern part of town, and you will eavesdrop on Franz and Iku. Follow Iku inside, and listen if you want some of the backstory. Afterwards, Iku will offer to take you to the Alter of the Flame Champion. When you go to leave town, you will see the Mantor trainers heading off to fight. At this point, you can enter the Rune Sage and Tutor hut, if you want. Leave town, and Iku will tell you how to reach the alter, then leave. --Mt. Senai-- Just keep working your way North. This place isn't ver complicated, but the enemies may give you a little trouble. When you reach the second to last chamber, you will encounter Duke and his company. You are given several choices here, which affect what happens. If you choose the first option, you will have to fight Duke, then the Bishop. If you choose the last option, you just talk. Duke isn't very hard. Just take them down one at a time. If you fight the Bishop, you probably won't win, but you don't have to. After everyone else leaves, leave as well, and head back toward Caleria. --Mountain Path-- When you reach the crossroad, Ace will drill Geddoe. Noone is quite sure how everything fits together, but everthing seems to revolve around the Flame Champion. Geddoe will have a flash back, and the chapter will end... Short, wasn't it. ----Hugo Chapter 2---- Automatic Recruits: None Reccomended Recruits: None --World Map-- At the end of the last chapter, Sgt. Joe suggested going to Duck Village, so go there. Thanks to Jerry Kondraciuk for pointing out my mistake. --Duck Village-- When you enter, two ducks will ask you and Sgt. Joe for help. Follow them into town, and you will meet Lilly. She will ask you about the Fire Bringer, then head off to the inn, with her searvants. Follow her, and hear the story of the Flame Champion from Sgt. Joe. Lilly will offer you 4000p to guide her to the Great Hollow. Since you don't have anything better to do, you might as well. She will want to set out immediatly. --Ancient Highway-- Once Lilly opens the door, head inside. This level is pretty straight forward. Just keep going until you reach the ceter. You will see four people trying to open the door to the Cyndar Ruins. Differant choices may lead to a differant situation, but every combination that I tried landed me in a fight with the Man in Black. He will whip you bad, but Sarah will stop him before he kills you. Heal up and continue on until you reach the Great Hollow. EbonJabberwock@aol.com has offered this tip for avoiding this fight. "To avoid the Man in Black make thees choices. 1 "They don't look like allies" 2 "Hmm what's the best way..." 3 "I agree" If you make the rite choices then Lilly will yell charge!!! And run rite past the bad guys leaving them scratching their heads. Its pretty funny. " Ryan Hann offers the following tip for defeating the Man in Black: "I had all 6 characters, Hugo, Lilly, Sgt. Joe, , Samus, and , all at level 34 and they all had level 10 weapons. Both of these tasks are easily accomplished in the Ancient Highway, where you fight . If necessary, you could easily level your characters beyond 34 there, and they drop a lot of money, so you can go and get your weapons upgraded. For the battle against himself, I had Hugo mounted on Fubar and the others placement really doesnt matter that much. I started out with Hugo/Fubar team going and attacking . counterattacked, leaving both in critical. Next round I suggest healing those to with Sgt. Joe's water rune, as they are the most critical people in this fight, with each hit doing 250+ damage twice in a row, first Fubar's flying attack and then Hugo's knife slash. It is a good idea to also start with Lilly's combo with her two guards, as in if Lilly survives, she will be berserked. By the end of the battle, Lilly and her two guards were dead (in a single combo by ). It may take some doing, but with this strategy is easily killed. Now, for the benefits of beating the Man In Black. First off, it doesnt give that much expierence points. Of the three surviving characters, not one of the gained a level. I don't recall if the money recieved was good, I believe it was, but am not sure. You will recieve a Gold Medallion, a crappy accessory that only adds one point to defense and magic defense and only sells for 2000 potch. But, I think the biggest benefit is the cutscene after the battle. Not only do you get to hear call your team maggots as he is crouched in pain, but you also get to learn his name earlier than originally expected. (I believe you learn it in Chris Chap. 3, but here you learn it in Hugo Chap. 2)." --Great Hollow-- You come out just in time to help fight a war between the Lizard Clan and the Xexans. You will have to fight two groups of knights before they retreat. Once the fighting stops, head inside and speak with Luce and Lucia. Deliver the bad news, and spend some time with your mom. Sgt. Joe will recommend that you search for Lilly, so start looking. If you want, head to the inn and talk to Anne. She will change the members in your party for you. Add Fubar, then finish the search for Lilly. Whouldn't you know, she's trying to ask the Lizard Clan chief about the Fire Bringer. Dupa will give you a more detailed story, then Lilly will run off again. Follow her to the lower right corner, and ask for your 2000p. Since she is broke, she is going to hang around you until she finds a Tinto Trader. With three new allies, head out of town. At the edge of town, you will meet Jimba as he returns. Take Jimba to see Lucia, and he will fill you in on some of the situation. He will ask you to check out rumors about Lake Castle (Budehuc). He susspects that Fire Bringer are hiding there, so of course Lilly wants to come too. Leave town, and the chapter will end. ----Chris Chapter 2---- Automatic Recruits: Leo, Percival, Nash Recommended Recruits: Watari, Ayame --Vinay del Xexay-- Visit the Council Hall for shopping/training if you want. Then leave the city, and make your way to the newly available Budehuc Castle. --Budehuc Castle-- The only reason you are here, is so that you can start recruiting people. After all the conversations, head back to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- When you arrive, head straight for Salome's room to left him know you are back. Return to your room, and rest up. That night, Salome and Percival will make dinner, and after dinner, you will give them the new assignment. The next day, make any preperations you want for war, then speak with Salome again, and give the attack order. --Major Battle-- This shouldn't be too hard. Just make sure that Chris stays alive, and that you don't get surrounded. You only have to beat 5 units, so you can be a little picky. --Great Hollow-- After you win, you will be outside the Great Hollow, with men fighting in front of you. Join the fight and beat two Lizard units. After that, you will face Shiba. After he falls, there will be much talking, and you will eventually rerteat, due to the advancing Harmonian Army. You will regroup at Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- Head to the left side of the town, and you will see Salome, who just received a message from the council. He suspects that the council used the attack on the Lizard Clan as bait for a Harmonian attack. Chris decides to confront the council, and sets off for Vinay del Zezay. --Xexen Forest-- When you enter the forest, Chris will start to feel bad, and at nearly the end, Chris will faint. Fortunatly, Louis is super strong, and somehow gets you back to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- When you wake up, and the conversations finish, go to the left side of town, and accept Percival's invitation to the Iskay Festival. --Iskay Village-- As soon as Percival wanders off, you are free to do as you please. First, you should recruit Watari, who is hiding between the first and second building on the right side of town. Speak to him, and pay what he asks. When you are done talking to everyone you want, try to leave town. Chris will remember the hill that Percival told her about, so head there. Go to the right side of the windmill to trigger a scene. A man, Nash, will approch you and start asking questions. Answer however you want, and eventually Grasslanders will attack. Fight off two sets of Grasslanders, then beat Shiba again. After the fight, retreat to the windmill. Jimba will show up, and duel you. He is pretty easy, and I think he lets you win. After the duel, he will tell Chris that the Fire Champion knows something about her father. The Grasslanders will leave just as the knights arrive. Nash disappears, but the rest of the knights join you. Leave town and head for Budehuc. --Budehuc Castle-- First, speak to Watari on the bottem level of the castle. Then, return to the inn and add Watari to your party. Next dump anything yo can in the warehouse. Then head for Mt. Hei-Tou. --Mt. Hei-Tou-- Mini-boss: BlueMantrix Unique Chest Items: Medal Set #3 The only reason you are here, is to fight the BlueMantrix. You know where it is, and it hasn't gotten any stronger. Pulverize it, and get the loot. Your next stop is the North Cavern, near Vinay del Zexay. --North Cavern-- Mini-boss: Chimera Unique Chest Items: Herb Seeds, Medal Set #5, Script #3 Head to the back of the cave, and you will encounter Ayame. She wil challenge Watari, and they will duel. Beat her, and she will join you. Return to the save point, save, then back to back of the cave. This time, you will see a mini- boss. The Chimera isn't too hard. Just use Percival's water rune when you need healing, and attack with your strongest moves otherwise. When you win you will find some great treasure, including the ones listed above, and a Mother Earth Crystal. Then return to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- When you arrive, Louis will get your room ready. Go to your room, and rest up. Talk to Salome in the middle of the night, and will will support Chris' desire to search for her father. Return to your room, and you will hear a knocking. Search the bookshelf, and you will find Nash, who offers to guide you into Grassland. Change into less conspicuous clothes, then head down the path that Nash came in with. You've been down here before, so just run straight up, like before. When you reach the end, there will be a scene as your knights watch you leave, and the chapter will end. ----Geddoe Chapter 3---- Automatic Recruits: None Recommended Recruits: Billy, Melville, Elliot, Mamie At this point, you should start to decide who your favorite character is. If it is Geddoe, like me, then you should start to build up your Fire skill, now. If not, then you don't need to worry about Geddoe. --Brass Castle-- The Chapter will open with you walking through Brass Castle. Geddoe will decide that he wants to see a friend in Vinay del Zexay. Continue through Brass Castle until you see Percival. A scene will be triggered, but eventually Aila will stand down. Save at the end of Brass Castle, then head to the Xexan Forest. --Xexen Forest-- You will face some tough enemies here. You should be fine though. If you come arcross any Mantrixra, fight them. If they drop a Crab Rice Bowl, hang onto it. If not, don't worry. --Vinay del Zexay-- First stop is the inn. When you chose to spend the night, it will trigger several cut-scenes. First will be an insignificant conversation between Ace, Joker, and Jacques. In the second scene, Geddoe's contact will direct him to a cave in the North. In the last scene, the gilrs will be out for a stroll, until they run into Borus. Aila will attack him, and he will apoligize for burning down her village, in his own way. The next morning, you are free to leave. However, if you have been following my guide, you have a ? Statue, that you won from the Rock Golem back in Chapter 2. Go have it appraised now, and you should get an S Statue (mine was a Hex Doll S, but I have had a Goddess Statue S before). This will be important later. But for now, head to the North Cavern. --North Cavern-- I don't know about you, but I'm getting sick of this place. Head straight in, until you reach the bottom of the second circle room. When you try to head on, you will be stopped by Duke. Since you ignored the order to return (Ace threw it out without showing Geddoe), Duke has been sent to bring you back. Geddoe and Duke will duel, and after you win, Duke will leave. When you reach the end of the cave, you will be greeted by Salome. Salome will help clarify the current situation. He will ask you to help the rebellion at Budehuc Castle. After he leaves, it's off to Budehuc Castle. --Xexan Forest-- Another chance to get a Crab Rice Bowl. But there will be more, so don't stress. --Budehuc Castle-- When you enter the castle, you will see the scene where Thomas decides to stay as Castle Master. The knights will leave, and you are free to explore the castle. Visit the library, and you will learn some of Geddoe's history. Head back down the stairs, and you will decide to hide until the fighting starts. Thank night, Joker will ask Geddoe about his past, and he will unvail his True Lightning Rune. The next morning, the fighting will start. After the first group of soldiers charge the castle, you will cut off the next group. These guys are cake, so trash them, then head into the castle. Beat the troops that Thomas can't, and your mission will pretty much be over. Watch all the scenes, and the castle will end up as Thomas' officially. With that job done, Geddoe will reveal that he knows the Flame Champion, and decide it's time to visit him. I, however, disagree, there are a few things to do before you see him. First, if have an S statue, take it to the statuary (second floor, left of the stairs). Place the statue on the center stand, then save. Return to the room, and you will find Billy, who offers you a gamble. Play him in cards, and win, to get him to join you. The game isn't hard if you understand it. Read the instructions, then play the game. You get more points for higher cards, so drop low level cards on low level cards, and higher ones on the ones you want. I usually gamble the same card on cards 7 and higher, and the lowest card I have, on 6 and below. If you lose, reset. If you win, he will mention his son in Vinay del Zexay. That sounds like a good place to go next. --Xexan Forest-- Another chance to get a Crab Rice Bowl, if you haven't yet. Seriously though, don't waste any time just on it. If you happen to get one, great, if not, you are still fine. --Vinay del Zexay-- You know who Melville is, but he isn't in the center of town, like normal. Look for him in his alley. Tell Melville that his father is at Budehuc, and he will decide to join him. Elliot will want to go too, but has to ask his mom first. Both Elliot and Melville will now join you. Nothing much left too do, so head to Kaput Forest, with a stop at Duck Village. --Xexan Forest-- Last chance. If you don't get a Crab Rice Bowl, don't worry, you will get one automaticlly later. --Duck Village-- Rest up, make any final preporations, and get supplies. If Geddoe is your favorite character, this is your last chance, this chapter, to level up your Fire skill. If you did manage to get a Crab Rice Bowl, give it to Mamie, in the appraiser's, above the item shop. Next stop, Kaput Forest. --Kaput Forest-- Items: Herb Seeds The first left is a dead end, the second, is an infinite loop, the third is a corpse with some Herb Seeds. The rest is straight forward. The only chioce when you exit is the Flame Champ Hideaway. --Flame Champ Hideaway-- Items: Old Book Vol. 9, Old Book Vol. 1 Mini-boss: Azzodess Unique Chest Items: Grape Seeds Explore the cave before you go to meet the Flame Champion. The exit is the room with the dot, on the mini-map. There are two corpses, both with books. I guess the designers wanted to tell us that bookworms die a lot, or something like that. There is also a tough mini-boss, right after the save point. Make sure you save before figthing her. Thunder magic doesn't work, but others do. She has an attack that can silence. I happened to have a Yellow Scarf, so I gave it to Aila. She was my only healer, so without her, I couldn't win. Keep your health up, and keep the pressure on her. You get a ton of great stuff if you win, including Grape Seeds. When you are done, go to the dot chamber. Geddoe will step onto the circle, and disappear. After a short scene, the chapter will end. ----Hugo Chapter 3---- Automatic Recruits: Hallec, Mua Recommended Recruits: Guillaume, Sanae Y, Landis, Emily, Wan Fu If you have decided that Hugo is your favorite character, then you should start to level up his Fire skill. If Geddoe is you favorite, level up Hugo's Lightning skill. If Chris is your favorite, work on Hugo's Water skill. --Great Hollow-- Leave and head to Lake Castle. --Budehuc Castle-- Head up the steps to the castle, and you will see the scene with the Xexen Councillor demanding that Thomas shut down. Head to the town gate, and talk with Cecile. She will run off to get Thomas, so follow her. Head up to the courtyard, and you will speak with Thomas. He will invite you inside, and he will tell you about the castle, and deny the Fire Bringer rumors. Thomas will offer to let you stay the night for free, before you leave. When you get to the inn, go ahead and pay for the room. It's only 300p. The next day, try to leave, and you will find that the Xexen Councillor has the town surrounded. He wants to arrest Hugo, but Thomas won't let him. Go to the courtyard to find Thomas speaking to the others. After the conversation, head to the gate and try to surrender yourself. The Councillor won't belive that it's you, and won't let you out. Report back to Thomas, and Caeser will appear to tell you that the Councillor is just using Hugo as a reason to attack. Caeser has a plan to get Hugo out of town. After the conversation, speak to Caeser again, and Hugo will ask why Thomas is helping him, but Caeser won't know. You can try to track Thomas down, but he is too busy to talk. Rest at the inn, and Hugo will talk to Thomas that night. You will learn a little of Thomas' past, then go back to bed. The next morning, talk to Caeser in front of the Lottery, to leave. After you watch Thomas' war, you get your chance to escape. You will automaticlly go to the Yaza Plain. --Yaza Plain-- You need to get back to the Great Hollow, so you know where to go. You will have to fight three groups of Xexen Soldiers before you reach the end. When you do, Caeser and Apple will leave for Duck Village. --Great Hollow-- When you arrive, Samus and Reed will convince Lilly that they need to find a Tinto Trader. They will head to Brass Castle, and ask you to wait for them. After one week, you will get bored of waiting, and decide to go after her. Head to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- Head inside and you will see two strange people. Speak to them, and Leo and Roland will come out of the castle. You can fight them, or run, either is fine. Hallec and Mua will join you, regardless of your choice. Hallec has a great unite attack with Fubar. Since you don't have any other leads, head back to the Great Hollow. --Great Hollow-- If you check near the waterfall, you will see Apple speaking with some Lizard Men. Chisha village is in trouble, and you decide to help. Tell Luce where you are headed, before you go. Use the Ancient Highway route to get there. --Ancient Highway-- Half way in, you will see a familar face. It's Pedophile Joe (Guillaume). Approch him, and he will attack. Beat him in a duel, and he will open an Appraiser's in Budehuc. Continue on, and stop in Duck Village, for a rest. --Duck Village-- Rest up, and buy supplies. Check the back of the inn, to see Sanae Y talking to a duck. Help settle the arguement, and she will join you. If you didn't find a Crab Rice Bowl with Geddoe, then speak to Mamie now. She will take Hallec's, and join you. When you are done, head to the Kaput Forest. Also note, that if Hugo or Geddoe is your favorite, then this is your last chance, for now, to raise Hugo's Fire or Lightning skills. --Kaput Forest-- You should only have 5 people in your party right now; Hugo, Fubar, Sgt. Joe, Hallec, and Mua. When you fight here, you have a chance of Landis joining your empty spot. I've never had any trouble getting Landis to join, but I've read about people having trouble. If you don't get him this time, don't worry, there will be another chance. Continue on to Chisha. --Chisha Village-- Items: Medal Set #2 When you enter, the town will be under attack. You will have to fight two groups of Harmonian Soldiers and one group of Mantors, before you reach the center of town. After the third fight, Hallec will roar, and scare the enemy off. Proceed to the center of town, and you will find Chris. Attack, or talk, it's up to you. After she leaves, you can explore town. Talk to Hortez VII and give him directions to Budehuc... again. Below the Supply/Armor Shop, you will find Wan Fu, who can't seem to move. Offer to pay his tab, and he will join you. In the bar, you will see Emily. Arm-wrestle her and win, and she will join you. If you loose, then you need to level up some, but you should be plenty strong. When you are done, talk to Sana, outside the inn. Try to leave town, and you will Find Albert and Yuber. Fight Yuber, and lose horribly. When you wake up the next morning, the Harmonians will return. Caeser will tell you that you need to stall for time until the Grassland army arrives. To do this, you will pretend to be the Flame Champion. The Bishop of the Harmonians will want proof that you are the Flame Champion, and you offer to beat any of his men. He accepts the challange, himself. This duel isn't hard. When Sasari is almost dead, the army will arrive, and they will retreat. Speak to Sana again, and she will tell you the location of the Flame Champion. Leave town, and head for the Flame Champ Hideaway. --Flame Champ Hideaway-- If you looted the place with Geddoe, the only thing to do is to head straight for the teleporter. At the end of the hall, a short scene will occur, and the chapter will end. ----Chris Chapter 3---- Automatic Recruits: Fred, Rico, Yun Recommended Recruits: Estella, Rody If Chris is your favorite character, you should start to get her some Fire magic training. --Duck Village-- The chapter will open here, and as soon as you enter the village, you will encounter Fred Maximillian and his assistant, Rico. The two will join you, but you will still need a guide. Enter the town and speak with the two ducks near the left water wheel. Rhett and Wilder will guide you, but only if you can get the chief's permission. The chief should be easy to spot, he's the one with the magnificent tail feathers... okay, he's the one near the Trading Post. With his permission, the two ducks will join you, and the road to Chisha will open. --Kaput-- Nothing here, just head on through. --Chisha Village-- When you reach the grape fields, you will meet Yun and Yumi. There will be a short scene, and Yun will tell you a bit about the future. Speak to Sana, and the village will be attacked by Franz and the Mantors. Yumi will join you for this fight. She has an earth rune, that can end this fast. Unless you use Yumi's Earthquake, take out Franz first, then the other trainer. Once you win, the enemy will flee. Afterwards, try to leave the village, and you will have a talk with Nash. Head back into the village, and speak to Yun and Yumi. Yun will say that you need more help, and can get it in Duck Village. Can you guess where we are going next? --Duck Village-- Check near the inn, and you will run into Apple and Caeser. Caeser will come with you, while Apple goes to get help. Bring Caeser back to Chisha, and get ready for war. --Chisha Village-- When you enter, Caeser will start to prepare for the fight. You can rearrange the units if you want, but when you are ready, tell Caeser, and the fight will start. --Major Battle-- Spoils: Earth Chain Mail All you have to do is survive. The enemy is pretty strong, and you don't have full units. Hold them back as much as you can, and slowly retreat to the back. Just don't let them get the glowing point. Some Mantors will appear in the back, but Caeser will take care of them. After a few turns, Hugo will show up, and the enemy will run. --Chisha Village-- After the fight, you will be confronted by Hugo. Whichever option you chose in his chapter, will be reflected here. Yun will ask you to come to her village, so try to leave the town. Before you leave, Sgt, Joe will speak with you, then you can leave. --Kaput Forest-- Take the second left, and Yun will tell you about the barrier protecting her village. Continue along this newly opened trail, and you will eventually run into Yuiri. After a conversation, Yuber will appear. I don't think you have to win this fight, but you can. Just keep your health up, and use Yumi's and Yuiri's strongest magic. Using Fred's and Rico's combo is a good idea too, along with Chris' Phoenix rune. Yuber dodges a lot, but they are all sure to hit. After the fight, Yuber will leave, and you can continue to the village. --Alma Kinan-- Items: Orange Kennel, Recipe #10, Melon Seeds Explore the town, get some items, and get some training. When you are done, head to the Great-Autie's house. Inside, you will learn some about the True Runes, and the destructive forces trying to destroy them. Chris will want to be alone, so head to the shrine in the back of the village. Nash will show up, and reveal a little of his background. Then Yun will show up, and tell Chris about her father. Head back to Autie's, and you will rest for the night. You will be awoken in the middle of the night, and be witness to a ritual. Yun will take you to the shrine, and tell you the reason for the ritual. Yuber, Sarah, and the Masked Bishop will appear, and try to stop the ritual. You will have to fight them, but you only have to hold them off. Whether you win, lose, or drag it out long enough, Yun will complete the ritual. The trio will retreat, and you will return to bed. Yun is now dead, but she will be counted as a Star of Destiny, and you will still be able to get the 108 Stars bonus. The next morning, Rico will join you first. Head to the shrine in the back, and Nash will rejoin you. Go to leave town, and the villagers will be there to see you off. Yuiri will give you the directions to the Flame Champion, so your next stop will be... right back here. When you re-enter, you will see a new person in front of the inn. Speak to Rody, and he will tell you about his master, who is at the inn. Check inside the inn, and try to recruit Estella. She will join you, if you can find the village of men. Speak to the girl at the shrine, and she will tell you that ahe has never heard of it. Return to the inn, and report to Estella, who will now join you, along with Rody. Now, if Chris is your favorite, make sure you youe this last chance to raise you Fire skill. If she isn't your favorite, you could power up her Water skill, but it's not critical, yet. Now, head to the Flame Champ Hideaway. --Flame Champ Hideaway-- Just head straight for the teleporter. You will probably only have four party members, and not want to spend more time here than you have to. When you reach the end of the hall, after you teleport, you will be greeted by Sana, and the chapter will end. Svetoslav Matejic offered this tip for those of you who like to play as Chris: "For Chris in Chapter 3 at the end when you are supposed to go to the flame champion you suggested that you go straight to the teleport point since you only have 4 people in your party. Well, what I did was go to chisha village and talked to sana and added watari and ayame in my party so I had 6. I then fought a few battles and went over to the north cavern to fight the mini-boss there, it wasn't easy but I managed to kill him with this group and pick up some better armor (not the best stuff since I've polished him off with geddoe earlier) and experiance. I then went back to the flamechamphideout and was able to kill off the mini-boss there before going on to the teleport. From this sequence I got 4-5 more levels than I otherwise would have had and I'm guessing the next few battles would have been much harder if my chris wasn't so pumped up (she's my flamechamp). That's all from me." ----Chapter 4---- Automatic Recruits: Caeser, Apple, Lilly, Reed, Samus Recommended Recruits: Jefferson, Barts, Viki, Viki, Futch, Sharon, Bright, Nadir, Rhett, Wilder, Hortez VII, Tuta, Koichi, Alanis, Connie, Kosanji, Kogoro This section was written with Geddoe as the Flame Champion. It's mostly the same as when I chose Hugo, but Chris is a little differant. --Flame Champ Hideaway-- The chapter opens with Geddoe, Hugo, and Chris, in the home of the Flame Champion. Sana will tell you the story of the Flame Champion, and what happened to him. She will offer to release the seal on the True Fire Rune, but you will have to select the successor. You will be able to select one of the three main character to inherit he True Fire Rune. This is why I've been telling you to work on the Fire skill of your favorite character. Pick your favorite character, and they will have a scene telling why they want to inherit the rune. Afterwards, Sana will tell them that they have to pass a test, to get the rune. Enter the next room, and all three characters will fight (together) a red dragon, the FireRIncar. The boss isn't that hard, but you will probaly rely on Geddoe's True Lighting Rune. There will be another fight after this one, so don't use your strongest magic. After the fight, the person you picked will get the True Fire Rune. If you picked Geddoe, then the True Lighting Rune will decide to leave, and go to Hugo. After gaining the rune, the Masked Bishop, and his entourage, will bust in and demand the rune. Of course, you aren't going to give it up without a fight. Just a word about this fight... The Masked Bishop wiped me out in one round, with some kind of crazy powerful spell. It kind of looked like, maybe, the True Wind Rune (wink wink). After the fight, the spirit of the past Flame Champion will stop the Bishop, and your friends will appear, to back you up. The Bishop will retreat for now, and the new Flame Champion will pass out. --Chisha Village-- You will wake up in Chisha village. One of your teammates will fill you in. Head to the town gate, and you will find all the clan leaders fighting. Everyone will go off to fight the Harmonians, so speak to your team, near the inn, and join them. --Major Battle-- All I can say here, is that you will probably get creamed. But, that's okay. After the battle, you will retreat to Duck Village. --Duck Village-- When you enter, you will see everyone trying to recover from the defeat. Head to the inn, and you will find the Clan leaders fighting again. Next, go back to the entrance, and Salome will get news that another company is heading for Duck Village. The soldiers will rush off to fight, and Caeser and Apple will show up. Apple will tell you that half of the troops are probably phantoms, created by Sarah. Caeser will ask you to distract Sarah, so the phantoms will disappear. Accept, and the battle will begin. --Major Battle-- While it may be temping to go after Sarah, she will just retreat and hide behind Yuber. To win this battle, just hold off the enemy for a few rounds. Let them come to you, and try to surround them, while avoiding being surrounded. If you get in trouble, retreat. Since one can't move and attack in the same round, moving slowly back into a corner will slow the enemy. After a few turns, Chris will show up, and cover the retreat. After the battle, your party will attack Sarah. According to Ken Brenner , if you are playing as Chris, you will continue this battle, instead of fighting Sarah. --Some Field-- You will have to over power 2 groups of Harmonian Soldiers to reach Sarah. One Explosion, from your True Fire Rune, will take out the enemy. When you reach Sarah, you will have to fight the same soldiers, plus her. She likes to heal, but if you take out her guards, it will break her concentration. After the fight, Yuber will rescue her, and withdraw. Afterward, you will return to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- Bring Caeser to Salome's room, and a discussion will take place. Caeser will appoint you to lead the new army. After the discussion, Lucia will point out that the troop moral is very low. Head over to the west side of town, and have talk with your party. After the talk, head back to east side. You will give a speech that rallies the troops together. When given a choice, if you choice the first option, your character will take the Flame Champion's name. The second option will allow you to keep the current name. Then the enemy attacks, again. If you chose to, you can rearrange units with Caeser now. When you are ready, give the command to mobilize. --Major Battle-- All you have to do, is buy some time. Keep your lead character alive, and hold the enemy back until reinforcements arrive. After a few rounds, Mau, Hallec, and Lilly will show up, and the enemy will retreat. Thus, ending the battle. --Brass Castle-- Return to see the troops celebrating. For now, return to Salome's room. Inside, all the Clans and the knights will pleadge allegance as the Fire Bringer. The only problem left is to find a base. After much consideration, everyone will agree on Budehuc. Sounds good, so head to your new base. --Tablet of Stars-- This tablet shows the people who you have recruited. Just wanted to point it out. --Budehuc Castle-- Arrive at the castle, and everyone will put in their opinions. After a meeting, you will be given a chance to rename the castle, if you didn't do it in Thomas' chapter. Thomas will then show you to your new room, and you will finally be able to explore the castle. Assuming you recruited Koroku, speak to him now, to unlock Koroku's flame on the Trinity point. All you can do is walk around and talk to people, but it's a few laughs. Try to leave the town, and Jefferson will show up. He will start assigning people titles, and join you. If he does not show up, then you need to recruit more. Now is a good time to revisit all of the towns. Make sure that you check the inventory of shops. Some have new merchandise, and looking will add their stock to your shops. First stop is Iskay. --Iskay-- Items: Recipe #9, Recipe # 11 You can now recruit Barts. He is near the windmill, and mourning the loss of his crops. If you bring him some Grapes, he will join you. The grapes you need are Grapes C, and can be bought at the Caleria or Chisha trading posts. Also, keep checking the Supply Shop, on a regular basis. You may find a Golden Hammer in the rarity list. Next, work your way to the Mountain Path, near Caleria. --Mountain Path-- When you enter, a woman will fall from the sky. This is Viki, and she will join you if you offer her a place to stay. Teleport back to your castle with her. --Budehuc-- Put Viki in your party. You need a party consisting of three men, two women, and one child/teenager. Your support character does not count. Once you have your party, teleport back to the Mountain Path. --Mountain Path-- When you enter, Viki will sneeze, and a younger Viki will appear. After a confusing conversation, young Viki will join you also. When she joins, she will give you the Blinking Mirror, which will allow you to return to the castle, when on the world map. Continue down the path, towards Caleria, and you will see a formidable looking man. Speak to Futch, and he will ask you to take him to the nearest town. Agree, and you will fly to Caleria on his dragon, Bright. --Caleria-- Items: Recipe #15, Copper Hammer Futch will ask you to help him find Sharon, a young Dragon Knight. Head into town, and follow the strange looking girl. Eventually, you will chase her back to Futch. Futch, Sharon, and Bright will all now join you. Head back inside, to the inn. Upstairs, you will see Nadir. If you have the right party (three men, two women, and one child), he will join you. If he doesn't join, then your party isn't right. Afterwards, head to the mercenary camp, and speak to Hortez VII. Try to give him directions, and he will run off again. From here on, I was teleporting, so these are in no particular order. --Le Buque-- Items: Recipe #13 --Duck Village-- Items: Thunder Crystal, Silver Hammer Bring Sgt. Joe here, and speak to Rhett and Wilder. The two will join you for good now. Head to the back of the inn to find Hortez VII, again. Give him the wrong directions this time, and he will join you. --Chisha-- Put Mio in your support, and check the second room of the inn. Mio will get Tuta to join you now. --North Cavern-- On the second screen, you should see a little dog, hiding behind a barrel. Speak to him and choose to adopt him, and Koichi will join you. --Great Hollow-- Items: Recipe #19 When you enter, you will see Jimba run off toward the Ancient Highway. Don't follow him just yet. Go inside, and check near the waterfall. If Melville and Elliot are in your party, Alanis will join you. If you are playing as Hugo, you will see an extra scene; the reunion of the Saint Loa Knights. Head to the caves underneath the Great Hollow, and take the first path, when it splits. Inside, you will see a white dog resting. Speak to her and choose to adopt her, and Connie will join. --Mt. Senai-- Head over to where the Masked Bishop and Sarah landed, in Geddoe's Chapter 2. On the South-most part of the landing, you should see a brown dog, in a bit of trouble. Choose to adopt him, and Kosanji will pull himself up, and join you. --Budehuc Castle-- When you enter, Cecile will tell you that your received a message, and everyone is waiting in the Hall. Head over to see Kidd, and see if you missed anyone. There should be one character left, who can't be reached yet. Head to the Hall, and you will be notified that Jimba has reported from the Great Hollow. It seems that the seal on the True Water Rune is weakening, and everyone expects that the Masked Bishop will be going after it. So, you should assemble your strongest party, and head over there. --Ancient Highway-- Head over to the door to the Cyndar Ruins, and watch a scene with the Masked Bishop opening the door. Follow him inside. --Cyndar Ruins-- Items: Script #5, Old Book Vol. 4 This place is big. Make sure you explore it all before you finish. If you reach the second save point, turn around. If you take the first left, then the next, you should see a little tail sticking out from behind a pillar. Speak to it, and you will meet the very strange, Kogoro. Choose to adopt him and he will stop dancing, and head to Budehuc. After you finish exploring, save at the second save point, and continue on. Just past the save point, you will fight Sarah, along with some of her monsters. All you have to do here is to beat Sarah. Focus all your attacks on her, and you should win. After the fight, the the place will be covered with ice, and Sarah will run off. Turn around and save again, trust me. Push deeper inside, and you will be challanged by one of the hardest bosses of the game. The Water Dragon is accompanied by six Ice Pillars, meaning seven attacks in one turn. You only have to beat the Dragon, and the Dragon can recreate any Ice Pillars that you crush. But, he can't attack you if he is reviving a Pillar, and the Pillar can't attack on the turn it's brought back. So, take out as many Pillars as you can, and fast. They each have around 2400 Hit Points, so the easiest way to take them out is with a level one Pale Gate Rune spell. Once you take them out, focus on the Dragon. Hit it with your strongest attacks, and keep your health up. After a while, and possibly a few tries, the Dragon will go down, and you will win a Flowing Crystal. Peter Masci Submitted this tip for beating the Water Dragon, while playing as Hugo: "Make sure that your characters are above level 50 and bring Hugo on Fubar, a fighter of their choice, little Vikki with a pale gate rune, and water rune for healing, and Futch on Bright. The two mounted pairs take away so much damage on the dragon and Vikki is the healer/pale gate rune caster. The first time I casted the lvl 1 pale gate rune all the pillars were destroyed and they were never summoned again. after that I used my best spells and then I just hammered away at the dragon with Hugo/Fubar, Hallec, and Futch/Bright. Everyones weapons were upgraded to lvl 15 so they were taking away about a 1000 hit points a turn each. Then I just healed when needed with Vikki and no one in my party died, and this was on my first try. Just use this strategy and the battle should be easy." If you are playing as Chris, Calvin Lok has this tip for you: "This is my way of beating the water dragon at Cyndar ruins. My party consists of Chris paired with Edge. Landis paired with Ayame, Nash paired with Estella. Here's what happened when I was fighting Water Dragon. Landis who have had his Blood Armor which took 15hp per turn. Ayame and Landis have a combination attack called Condemnation or something, which in one turn hits the water dragon for 2000 damage. Then Landis will fall asleep. However, the next turn, he'll wake up because of the damage he took from the Blood Armor. For the pillars, in the first turn they killed Edge. I still have Chris casting her True Fire rune. The amazing thing that, with Chris having the Armor Protect skill, the pillars will only hit Chris for 1-4 Damage every turn giving me all the time to inflict massive damage to the dragon using Landis and Ayame. I think after 4-5 hits of Condemnation, the water dragon will die." After the fight, your reinforcements will arrive. You will then see a scene with Yuber, Sarah, Luc, and Jimba. After the scene, you can continue on. When you reach the last room, you will find a strange floating orb, and Jimba, laying on the ground. Jimba will ask Chris to unseal the True Water Rune, and she will comply. Jimba will then reveal his identity, and then die. He is supposed to die, and you will still be able to get the bonus at the end, if you collect the rest of the 108 stars. After Jimba's death, the True Water Rune will select a new master. If Chris is your Flame Champion, The Water Rune will go to Hugo, otherwise, it will go to Chris. Now all of the main characters will have a True Rune, and the chapter will end. ----Chapter 5----- Automatic Recruits: Duke, Nicolas, Gau, Elaine, Franz, Iku, Ruby, Yumi, Yuiri, Sasari, Dios, Albert, Yuber, Sarah, Luc Recommended Recruits: None --Budehuc Castle-- The chapter will open with you returning to Budehuc. Before you rest, make sure that you have recruited everyone. Check Kidd's list, if you are unsure of who you may have missed. Check the Tablet of Stars, and you should have 93/108. When you are ready, rest and trigger a scene with Nash and Sasari. The next morning, head to the town gate to find Franz, who wants the help of the Flame Champion. Bring him inside, and wait for him, in the Hall, to recover. When he wakes up, he will tell you that Le Buque is in trouble, and ask for help. You can't mobilize the entire army, but Geddoe offers to take his unit. Before you set out, add Tuta or Goro to your support slot. After you make all your preperations, head to Le Buque. --Mountain Path-- You will have to fight the Twin Snake again, but it should be easy at this point. --Le Buque-- When you enter the town, no one will be around. Check outside Iku's to trigger a scene, then head into her house for another. An mantor trainer will land outside, and tell you that all the villagers are being held at the Alter of the Insect Trainers, on Mt. Senai. Rest and save at the inn, if you want, then head out. --Mt. Senai-- Head to the last chamber, and you will find the villagers. Luc and Sarah will come out from hiding, and attack you. Luc killed me in one shot from his True Wind Rune, but the outcome is the same either way. Luc will take your rune, and leave you a present. It would be a good idea to heal, before you go see what the present is. You will have to fight a lot now. After three battles, you will have the option to fight on, head back, or leave the villagers. If you head back, you can heal and resume fighting, but if you choose to leave the villagers, I think you will miss out on seven stars. After a total of five fights, you will be saved by Duke's crew. All four of them will join you, and you will go back to free the villagers. --Le Buque-- Back at the village, the villagers will show just how shallow they are, and Franz, Iku, and Ruby will join you. Afterwards, you will return to the Trinity Point, and switch to Chris (automatically). --Budehuc Castle-- Chris will have to return to Brass Castle for a while, and she will take Salome, Borus, Roland, and Louis with her. Add two more characters before you head out, then go to Brass Castle. --Brass Castle-- When you arrive, there will be some commotion on the right side of the town. Go over there, and you will find Yumi, who is looking for you. Yumi will tell you that there is trouble over at Alma Kinan and, of course, you will help. --Kaput Forest-- When you reach the edge of the barrier, Yumi will reveal that she is really Sarah. Sarah is not the real Yumi, there is still a real one. Sarah will ask for your True Rune, and challenge you. If Chris has the True Water Rune, this fight can be really easy. Just use Silent Lake, to prevent Sarah from casting anything. Wail on her with physical attacks, and victory will be yours. Whether you win or lose, she will take your True Rune. Afterwards, you will switch to Hugo, automatically. --Budehuc-- Make your rounds, and talk to Cecile. You will mention checking other towns, so head to the nearest one, Iskay. --Iskay-- Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. --Budehuc-- When you return, you will find a messanger from Brass Castle. Brass Castle is being attacked. Notify Caeser, and you will offer to head out before the army. --Brass Castle-- Run to the East Bridge to join the fight. You will have to fight three, easy, groups of Harmonian Soldiers. After the third fight, you will be approched by Luc. Without a fight, you will lose your rune. After Luc leaves, your reinforcements arrive. Caeser will suggest going on the offensive, so get your army ready for war. --Major Battle-- Spoils: Flowing Crystal This battle really shouldn't be hard. The odds are stacked in your favor. Most of the enemy units have the leader out front, so you can finish them off fairly quickly. You will get 4 units of reinforcements, so you should have more than enough man power. However, Yuber cannot be defeated until Sasari appears. He won't lose more than half of his life before then. After you win, you will head back to Budehuc. --Budehuc Castle-- Meet with Sasari in the Hall, and get the rest of the story. Nash will notify you of Luc's location, and Caeser will ask you to give the attack order. Give the order when ready, and visit the troops in the Forcourt. A scene will occur, and the final showdown will begin. --Major Battle-- This battle is a lot like the last, except that Sarah is fighting too. Take her out, to prevent and destroy any summoned units. There's not really any strategy here, just beat the enemy. Afterwards, you will enter the Ceramonial Site. --Ceramonial Site-- You will need to grab all four runes, and thus will split into four groups. Each character will go after their rune. First up, is the Lightning Rune. Follow the trail to the end, and you will face Yuber. This battle can be tough. I'd recommend bring magic users, with at least one healer. People with combo attacks, or attack runes work well too. Yuber is strong, has a lot of health, and dodges a lot. But, keep at it, and you should beat him. When you do, you will regain the True Lighting Rune. Next up is the Water Rune. At the end of this path, you will find Sarah. At first, I though that casting Silent Lake would be a good idea, like last time, but her friends are stong, and it will hurt not being able to heal. I'd dare say that Sarah is harder than Yuber, but if you can survive her Pale Gate Rune, you should be able to bring her down. Strong attackers are a plus here. For the record, I used Chris, Viki, Duke, Elaine, Gau, and Nicolas. After you win, you will regain the True Water Rune. Afterward, you will see a scene with Sasari. The last rune is the Fire Rune. Make your party, and head down the path. At the end, you will find the True Fire Rune, boss free. You will however, meet Albert, and learn a little of his motives. After you get the rune, a door will open, and the rest of your group will join you. Make a party strong enough to beat the last boss, and take a short walk. At the end of the dungeon, you will find Luc. After some talking, you will find yourself in a very grey place. The Flame Champion will be alone here. While exploring, you will be attacked by two groups of Guardians. They are weak, and give good experiance. When you return to the normal world, Luc will create the last boss. The WindRIncar is accompanied by four rune crystals. The best way to win, is to take out the crystals first. If you can take out two or three (preferable the lightning, water, and fire in that order), then you should be home free. It's important to keep your health up for this battle, and offensive magic will be turned back around at you, so use some powerhouse attackers. After a while, victory will be yours. Sit back and watch the ending. If you had 104 stars before tfinal Major Battle, then the last flame will open at the Trinity Point, and you will be able to play the bonus scenerio after the normal ending. It's easy, so I won't give you any directions. But, that pretty much ends the game. Congratulations. ------Section 3: Frequently Asked Questions------ Not that I mind getting e-mail, but it would probably be more helpful if I answered some of the more commonly asked questions here. Q - Where do I find / How do I recruit ? A - I added a special section, just to answer this question. Scroll down to the Star Recruitment section. Q - Why won't my Suikoden 2 data load? A - You have to save AFTER the last boss. Q - What do you get for loading your Suikoden 2 data? A - As far as I can tell, you only get 2 extra scripts for Nadir, and the levels of some returning characters are boosted. Q - Where can I find a Pale Gate Rune? A - The easiest place to get one is from the girl in the Iskay item shop. Q - Can I get later? A - Yes. I can't think of any characters that can be permanantly missed. Q - Do I have to do Thomas' chapters? A - Yes... Well, techniclly no. But did you buy this game only to skip 10% of it? Q - I only have -- stars. Who am I missing? A - Check with Kidd. If he doesn't know of any other recruits, then the rest will join automaticlly. Q - I got all 108 stars, but no secret ending. What gives? A - Two possibilities. One of your characters may have died during a major battle, or you recruited someone too late (after the final major battle). Q - Is there going to be an official guide? A - The official guide was cancelled. However, there may be an unoffical guide, one day. Q - How do I teleport around? A - When you recruit Elder Viki, she will offer to teleport you places. You have to speak to her in the hall of Budehuc Castle. There are times when she won't teleport you. Also, when you recruit Young Viki, she will give you the Blinking Mirror, which returns you to the castle. If you don't see it, check your special items. Q - What are the small spots on the Trinity Point for? A - The short answer is that they are 3 optional points of veiw. One will open when you first visit Budehuc castle, one will open when you speak to a certain character in chapter 4 or 5, and the last opens if you get all 108 stars. If you are having trouble figuring out which character opens the second spot, it's Koroku. And yes, there is no point to his perspective, but it is fun for a while. Q - Where do I put ornaments? A - The are used to decorate Budehuc Castle. Vases go on the stands in the Hall. Paintings replace the delapidated ones in the Hall. Statues go in the Statuary (second floor), and kennels can be used to replace Koroku's doghouse (just outside the bar). ------Section 4: Star Recruitment------ If you are unsure of how to recruit a character, just check here. You must have recruited Koroku, Koichi, and Connie first. --Landis-- Where: Kaput Forest, anywhere How: Landis will join you, before a fight, if you have a spot in your party open. Many people have been having trouble finding him. I hear that the best spot is on the second screen, from the Duck Village entrance. There is only about a 10% chance, per battle, of him joining, so just keep with it. --Mamie-- Where: Duck Village, Appraiser How: Bring her a Crab Rice Bowl. They can be won from Mantrixs in the Xexan Woods, and Kaput Forest. Or, Hallec joins with one, you can just steal his. --Mel-- Where: Iskay Village, North of the Item Shop How: Just talk to her. --Melville-- Where: Vinay del Zexay, alleyway How: Speak to him after recruiting Billy. --Mike-- Where: Caleria, Trader's How: Win 20,000p from him in one game. --Mio-- Where: Iskay Village, above the Inn How: Just watch the scene with her and Tuta. --Nadir-- Where: Caleria, above the Inn How: Bring him 3 men, 2 women, and one child. I haven't confirmed all of these, but I won't post it if it sounds unreasonable. --Submitted by plush@mpinet.net-- -The only battles that aren't winnable are the Melville/Guillaume duel, Hugo/Yuber duel, and the first strategy battle with the Harmonian army. All the others can be won. The one I see most people mention is the first Geddoe figh with Chris and the Zexen knights. You can win it although the best prize I ever got were some damaged helms and new chainmail. -If you want to see your decisions reflected from one scenario to the next, the best order I've found is: 1.Geddoe 1.Thomas 1.Hugo (gives you the option to duel Chris or not at the end, will give Chris cinema showing her receipt of Jimba's gift) 1.Chris 2.Geddoe (recruit Billy, get Melville) 2.Chris (see scene w/ Saint Loa Knights, gives option to duel Lucia) 2.Hugo 3.Hugo (gives you dialogue options for Chris encounter in Chisay and Thomas ecounter at Lake Castle) 3.Geddoe 2.Thomas 3.Chris -Jefferson's medal sets actually serve a purpose in boosting character skills. Talk to him and you can elect to appoint titles that give bonuses to attributes such as heavy damage, attack, and appraisal. -About recruiting, it's a bad idea to use Geddoe to recruit any battlefield character simply bc he can't change the roster until Chapter 4. I just use him to recruit Arthur then recruit Goro so I can use him in support (Goro not only heals HP but removes poison status-saves a lot on antitoxin). -A lot of people I've talked to mention that Geddoe's scenarios are just too tough. Most of them don't know that Ace & Joker have a combo attack that can take out groups of enemies. I used a formation with Geddoe & Queen, Jacques & Aila, and Ace & Joker. Build up Geddoe's parry and Jacques & Aila's swing (to give them 2 shots) and this party is actually quite powerful. -For Thomas, after you get Kathy, you can race the course for some very good prizes, the best of which is Pale Moon Leather, mini-cactuses (on the 2 harder courses, get a score under 51 secs), and deer antlers (easy course, time over 51 secs on harder courses). The mini-cactuses sell for 5,500 potch each. -I've never won the grand prize in the lottery, but have won the first prize (500,000 potch) starting in Chapter 4 at Lake Castle. -Geddoe & Chris have storehouses that can hold up to 24 items. Geddoe's guy is in Caleria on the screen w/ the bujutsu trainer, Chris' guy is in Brass Castle in the room w/ the bujutsu trainer (far right of screen). These are real helpful until Chapter 4 when the storehouse at Lake Castle gets much bigger. --Submitted by Svetoslav Matejic -- -I went to celeria before fighting the golem in N. Cavern, to pick up the soaring bolt item from the item shop rarities. I got 2 and that made the boss much easier. Also while there my party of chris, nash, fred, rico, watari and ayame was enough to recruit Nadir to my party. I also saw hortez VIII, or VII, whatever there and I passed him again in duck village and was able to recruit him as well in chapter 3. I don't know if it makes a differance, but I liked having a support character for chris at the end of the chapter. -Also I was able to beat the bishop et al in the beginning of chapter 4, i cast level 3 fire with chris and level 3 lightening with geddoe and it wiped out the bishop, then I took care of sarah with the level 4 lightening and finished off yuber. Hugo died on the second round, but everyone else had at least %50 of their hitpoints. But I didn't really get anything good from the battle. --Submitted by Brittani Salomon -- -Just wanted to give you some fun info about the plays in Suikoden 3. In the William Tell play, cast Nash as the son. If you do that, he'll get hit by the arrow! Also, he mentions "Somehow I've done this before a long time ago." Could he be Joey from Suikoden 3? Posibility? --Submitted by -- These are some tips for playing as Geddoe. -I think it would be wise to level up Geddoe lightning skill to B/B+ in the beginning of Chapter I. I prefer leveling up in Yaza Plain, coz there are lots of boars and you might bump into white boar (boss in that area ). There are 4 reasons for the level up : 1. It will be easier when your party reached the mountain path road. 2. Only need to level up for the first 15 minutes or so, in chapter 1. 3. By the end of chapter 2, Most of your characters level is in 37-39. 4. I dont like losing and I hate running away ^_^; -Things that you should do: 1. My characters level : 20-22 when I reached the Great Hollow. It is imperative that Geddoe lightining skill is B+ or higher 2. Remember always to DO BUSINESS. You will need all the money to buy Rarily equipments. -In Great Hollow, when you fights the lizards, have Queen/Jacques stand in front of Geddoe while he performs his lighting attack ( the one that cost 900 dmg ). Meanwhile, have Joker and Ace perform a combo attack. You should be able to win in only one round. almost all of my characters gains 2 levels when you win this fight. -After the fight, head back to the inn and sleep, so that Geddoe can perform hislighting magic again. When fighting against Chris and knights, I use the same tactics as above. Geddoe lightning attack + Joker/Ace combo will put ALL of the knights (xcept Chris) in a critical condition. Kill the rest of the knights and unleashed 5 person combo on Chris. When you win the fight, Chris complemented you and asked for Geddoe name. How COOL is THAT ?! you also gained lots of experiences. -Remember to sleep, then buy RARITY armor and head gear for Queen. You will need these when fighting with Borus. After that I did some level up in Plain Amur, since the monster is easy to whacked and they have lots of experiences. I recommend killing the boss area (blue salamender or whatever its name is). Try look for it near the save area or near the exit zone. I only spend like 10-12 random battles in this area. -When fighting against Aila in Karaya, I use the same tactic above, you should be able to annihilate Aila party in 1-2 turns. It is important to finished them quickly before Jimba stops the fight, otherwise you wont get any experiences. My characters gained 1 level, pending on how far you level up in Plain Amur. After the fight, I suggest heading back to Brass Castle to sleep. Then, upgrade your skills (remember to add a swing skill for Ace, since he can perform multiple strike when his swing skill is B/B+). Also remember to upgrade Queen's Repel skill. -When fighting against Borus, have Queen take the hit and Geddoe unleashed his magic. Geddoe lighting will instantly kill his 2 knights leaving only Borus himself. It is very simple from here on, either attack or heal. after you win the fight, you will see Borus in pain and Geddoe turn his back and walk away. -Side track to Mt. Hei Tou, kill the blue crap or whatever its name is. It won't pose any problem with your current level. head back to Great Hollow and sell those junk armors and buy Rarity equipment for your characters. -By the time you reached the boss (twinsnake) in Mountain Path, your character level should be around 30-34. Before the battle, Equip mega medicine B/A to your character PER TEAM (if you dont have enough mega medicine for each characters). Have Aila used the Clay Guardian so that your characters will take less damage against Twinsnake magic attack. I prefer taking out the right head snake first. then, the left one and finally the damn turtle itself. Head back to Caleria and do the usual (sleep, sell, buy and upgrade). Remember to buy RARILY Armor in CALERIA, they sell pretty good rarity armor. -It depends on luck when fighting agains this big-arm golem. When the battle start, sometime, it will summon his meteor magic (or whatever it is called ) right away and deals with 200-magic. Even protected by Aila Clay Guardian magic, your character still sustain heavy damage. So, to fight the golem and to have EVERYONE survive is a little bit tough. When battle start, have Geddoe use all of his lighting magic attack. Dont bother to use combo attack, it will only deals around 100 dmg or so. Have all your character attack the golemn. I hope you invest some skill points in Jacques Damage, sharp Shooting and swing, coz he can deal with double damage and sometimes can forced the golemn to stop chanting its magic. After you won, head back to town and do the usual thing. -When you fight against the Franz and Le Buque guys, make sure you finished them quickly before the battle stop. These guys are easy ! I defeated them in 2-3 turns. Just use the usual stuff (ace/joker + geddoe lighting attack). you will gain alot of experiences when you win. -Duel Against Edge [Note: I only duel him once and win. therefore, I do not know the words he used is random or not. He is easy to read anyways, But I'll just put his words here: Go easy on me, I suppose I could go easy on you : ATTACK Why dont you show me what you've got : DEFEND Dont Get cocky : ATTACK -Mt.SENAI With your current level, fighting against Duke is a CAKE ! my character level is around 35-36 something. it is important that they did not inflict heavy damaged on your characters coz there is another battle coming. After you won, the sequence wont stop, therefore you can't heal your characters. The only CHANCE to heal your character is during the fight with DUKE. so check your characters' health and heal if necessary BEFORE YOU END THE BATTLE ! note: when you take duke out first, the rest of his party will go berserk. When fighting against the bishop, remember to estimate how much damage you inflicted on him. He has 1200 hp. just roughly estimate how much damaged you did on him, it will help you alot in decision making (heal or attack) during the battle. First round, sarah will heal her party. bishop begin chanting his offensive magic, so have all your character to focus on Bishop. With luck, you might stop his chanting. Aila should use Clay Guardian right away. Sometimes Sarah will protect the Bishop when you attacked him. with your current level and protected by clay guardian, your character wont die after being hit by Bishop magic, that is if you failed in stopping his chanting. Sarah has low HP and DEF, so after she shielded bishop once or twice, she is in critical condition. Dont bother attack her in second round, as she will die protecting the bishop when you focus your attack on Bishop. after Sarah is out, then decide on healing or attacking or combo on bishop. When you win the battle, your character gained 3 levels or more. you will see a cut scene and the Bishop attack you all with his TRUE WIND RUNE. [ note : i only fight them once, i accidentally overwrite my save, so i couldnt re-evaluate my strategy, but i won the fight in my first try with all my characters alive. so, I believe the battle is win-able. ] -There you have it, My characters level are 38-39. I think this is significant, since i can only reach these levels in the middle or the end of chapter 3 using Hugo or Chris. ------------ i thought i just put Duke duel here as well. ------------ Duel Against Duke Lets see what you've got : Def Hardly Felt a thing : def Not bad, I'll go full speed as well : Atk Maybe I underestimate you, I better be careful : Def this guy is so easy to read, he didn't even sratch me <- thats what he said after I beat him ^_^; -------------- Just Curious : 1. Does anyone ever win the fight against those 4 bad-assess (bishop, sarah...uhm..whats the other two names ) in Flame Champion Hideout in the beginning of chapter 4 ? 2. Has anyone managed to win the battle in Chisa village [beginning of chapter 4] ? I only managed to take out 2 of their armies. --Submitted by Nick -- -i've played the horse races and i got the mini-cactus like you said, but then i kept going and i beat my previous time. now my current record is 50.7 seconds and the prize i recieved was Painting: Lady which can be sold for 40,000 potch. -i'm at thomas' chapter 2, the begining. and i was racing the horses again and one prize i got during the medium difficulty race was hex doll 5. so i placed it in the statue room and billy came up. so i played him and beat him. this is before geddoe's chapter 2 so, i still have to try and go to vinay del zexay to recruite the kids. --Submitted by Michael -- -If you were in any dungeon, there will be a mini boss if you revisit that place. Although there isn’t to many reasons to visit the Mountain Road or go into the Syndar ruins there is two benefits. In the Syndar Ruins you can find the Champions rune, while it may be at the end in Chapter 5 if you’re doing some last recruiting for the 108 stars this rune is highly recommended because it will make it so that weaker enemies never see you in a random battle. I know there isn’t a very high encounter rate to begin with but if you’re recruiting last minute characters and you’re annoyed with all the stupid encounters it’s an easy thing to do, and if you’re in Kaput forest and you want to get into encounters all you do is remove it. Also I found that if you make Hugo the Flame Champion and you’re on Mountain Road during Chapter 5 you can get 102 defense plus 1 continuous atk and heals 10 hp per turn, also I found him a good helm that has 36 defense 15 pwr fire resist and plus 1 accuracy. Oh and if you play as Chris you could pick up a free 111 defense piece of armor which is almost 200,000 potch at the vendor inside the council hall in Vinay Del Zexay. As for Geddoe well I believe he can wear the Dragon Scale which is what Hugo uses. And for Chris in the Syndar Ruins there is a 44 defense helm and I’m pretty sure she can use the other helm you get on Mountain Road which is 44 defense, damage skill plus 1. Although I know these aren’t to big of things I found that having them has helped me through some tough situations, killing the mini-bosses and looting all the best defensive loot has gotten me easily through tough bosses. I only remember dying in the beginning when I was unfortunate to have not been accustomed to the game I think its in many ways different from the first two games, but I wonder why if I loaded my save data from Suikoden 2 I don’t get any interesting bonuses, kind of like in part 2 when loading Suikoden data at the end you could play as the first hero :D Oh and one last piece of info that I found helpful, being level 56 or higher with the warrior rune attached most likely will land you in zero encounters, almost anyway. To bad it is all the way in chapter 5 when the game is almost over. ------Section 6: Blacksmithing------ Each character has one weapon, which they use for the entire game. To power up your weapons, you have to have them sharpened. Weapons can be sharpened up to level 16. The way to get really sharp weapons, is to find better hammers for Budehuc's blacksmith, Peggi. There are four hammers, and are as follows. Iron Hammer - Max Level: 9 - Found at: A man in the Great Hollow Trading Post. Copper Hammer - Max Level: 12 - Found at: A merchant next to the Armorer, in Caleria. Silver Hammer - Max Level: 15 - Found at: An Alma Kinan girl, in the Tutor's at Duck Village. Golden Hammer - Max Level: 16 - Found at: A rarity at the Iskay Supply Shop. It cost Potch to upgrade weapons, and each level costs more than the previous. Here is a list of the upgrade prices. Thanks to THCsquad@aol.com for making it. Upgrade to level 2 - 100 Potch Upgrade to level 3 - 300 Potch Upgrade to level 4 - 600 Potch Upgrade to level 5 - 1500 Potch Upgrade to level 6 - 2700 Potch Upgrade to level 7 - 3500 Potch Upgrade to level 8 - 4500 Potch Upgrade to level 9 - 7000 Potch Upgrade to level 10 - 11000 Potch Upgrade to level 11 - 18000 Potch Upgrade to level 12 - 27000 Potch Upgrade to level 13 - 35000 Potch Upgrade to level 14 - 43000 Potch Upgrade to level 15 - 52000 Potch Upgrade to level 16 - 60000 Potch ------Section 7: The Library------ Ocassionally, you will find Old Books. Not only are they fun to watch, but if you choose a good cast, they can earn some money. To make money, you have to let the play run for a while. Nadir needs scripts, unless you want to watch The Match Girl, over and over. The scripts are as follows. Script #1 - The Match Girl - Nadir starts with it. Script #2 - He Cried Wolf - A kid in the Vinay del Zexay Inn. Script #3 - Romeo and Juliet - Mini-boss in North Cavern. Script #4 - William Tell - A lady in the Le Buque Inn. Recipe #20 - Chinese Banquet - Mini-boss on the Mountain Path. ------Section 10: Building a Better Bath------ I get a lot of e-mails about this, so I figured I make a new section. After recruiting Goro, he will build a bath in your castle. There are two things that you can do in the bath. The first is to use a bathing item. And the second is to see conversations between differant characters. Bathing items can be dropped by regular enemies, or sometimes won from mini-bosses. These items must be equiped before entering the bath, and just change the looks a little. Most people probably have the Toy Duck, which adds a toy duck to the bath. Most of these will be wone during the normal play of the game. Search them out, and experiment with them. The second use is more interesting. Sometimes, when you bring certain people to the bath together, they will have a conversation. There is just diologue, and no images. I'll let you see what happens, but some combinations to try are: * Reed, Samus, and Lilly * Ace, Joker, and Jacques * Mel and Belle * Chris and Estella That's all that I have now. If you have one that isn't listed, please e-mail me. I ask that you add a brief summary of the converation, just for verification. ------Section 11: Jefferson's Medals------ After Jefferson joins you, he will be able to assign titles to people. He needs medals to assign differant titles. If you speak to him, you can see what is available. Some titles will boost a character's skills, while others are just for fun. The Medal Set locations are as follows. Medal Set #0 - Jefferson starts with it. Medal Set #1 - From a soldier in the Vinay del Zexay Armorer. Thanks to Ernest Wiggins for finding this. Medal Set #2 - From a man in Chisha Village Medal Set #3 - Mini-boss on Mt. Hei-Tou Medal Set #4 - Rarity in Chisha Village Thanks to Joe for finding this. Medal Set #5 - Mini-boss in North Cavern ------Section 12: Kidd Reports------ Other than scouting out potential recruits, Kidd can investigate the ones you curently have. Sometimes he will find useful information (like who might have a combo attack), or sometimes he won't find anything at all. Ususally, he finds a little bit of useless iformation, that's kind of cool to read. Listed below is some of the things he'll find. A huge thanks goes out to plush@mpinet.net, who pretty much wrote this section for me. He is pretty modest, and for some reason prefered to have his info in my guide instead of making his own.
