As you can tell from my user name, my name is Gamer364. This guide is designed to help all players playing this game unlock all the achievements in the game. I was looking at this game one time, and I noticed that there was no Achievement guide for this game. This game is a little too easy as the next part will mention, so it's understandable why this is the case (unlike Lost Odyssey where it was a hard game to get 100% on and it had no Achievement guide before I came along and wrote one). However, I decided to write this guide anyway for the sake of GameFAQs having one for this game, and in case future gamers still run into trouble with certain achievements. I know you guys probably don't like long Intros, so I'll get on with the guide already. Note: I am well aware that there are 4 other versions of this game (DS, PS2, Wii and PS3), but as far as I know, there are no Trophies with the PS3 version (unless Sony or the people who made this game makes a patch to make this game include trophies, which I really do not think either company will considering how old this game is), and there is no achievement reward thing going on with the remaining versions, so this will be the only time this will be mentioned in the guide. ****************************************************************************** | Part 3: Achievement Overview | ****************************************************************************** Achievement difficulty (on a scale of 1 through 5, 5 being the hardest): 1 Number of Achievements: 50 Least amount of playthroughs to get all Achievements: 1 Suggested amount of playthroughs: 2 Number of Missable Achievements: 0 (none of them can truly be missed) Details: As mentioned in Part 2, this game's way too easy to beat. The only achievement that can give you a hard time is "Complete the Game". Thankfully, there's a guide you can use for when you go after the collectables, and I found it to be really helpful overall. Here's the link below. gamefaqs.com/xbox360/945950-the-legend-of-spyro-dawn-of-the-dragon/faqs/55404 Note: This guide assumes that you are playing the PS3 version of the game, but it has controls for the Xbox 360 version, so it applies to that version as well. Also, credit for the guide goes to dark52 of GameFAQs. If you perfer visual assistance, here's a Youtube video below that shows you not only how to get all the collectables, but how to beat the game without the use of cheats (if you are not interested in using them) as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIo98CpqwQc Note: 3 things: 1. Credit for this video belongs to ECDT1089 of Youtube 2. This video assumes that you are playing the PS2 version (or PS3, not 100% sure which since the controls between the two is the same) 3. The link I gave you is part 1 of the video walkthrough (which has 34 parts) One thing I should mention is that I based the difficulty on the fact I was using cheats (which makes the game so easy to beat). Cheats do not disable achievements, so don't be afraid to use them. If you did not use the cheats, or if they did disable achievements, I would bump the difficulty up to like a 3, because some achievements are still easy enough to get even without cheats. If you decide use them (and you should, but your choice) here are the cheats below. Infinite Life: Left Bumper + Right, Right, Down, Down, Left Infinite Mana: Right Bumper + Up, Right, Up, Left, Down Max XP: Right Bumper + Up, Left, Left, Down, Up Unlock all Elemental Upgrades: Left Bumper + Left, Up, Down, Up, Right Note: You have to be in the pause menu and you have to use the Control Stick in order for any of the cheats to work. You'll know if you did a cheat right if you hear a quiet buzz. Also, I wouldn't suggest using the Elemental Upgrades cheat, because that will also unlock the armor, making "Armory" slightly harder to get, because you can't keep track of which piece of armor you have. If you are doing "Completed The Game" through Story mode (as if you have a choice due to a glitch, see next paragraph), and used the link I gave you, then I suspose it won't matter one way or another. Still, you shouldn't use that cheat for the sake of "Armory" (save it for Buddy System). Same goes with the Max XP cheat if you are doing "Buddy System" solo (yes, Buddy System in single player is possible, see that achievement for details). Finally, you have to use the Infinite Life and Infinite Mana cheats every time you either start a new level, or if you reload from a save point, because it turns off every time either situation happends. If you didn't use the Max XP cheat when you used the Elemental Upgrades cheat and either situation happends, add cheat number 4 to the mix. One more thing I should mention is that if you happend to miss any of the collectables, and use Chapter Select to get them, it'll say that you have a percentage of, let's say, 99%. If it says something like that, and you have all the levels unlocked, then the only thing to do is to erase you save file, begin the game fresh, and this time collect everything the first time through. Because of this, I guess you and I can consider "Completed The Game" a glitched achievement. "Unlocked Bonus" would also be considered a glitched achievement, since you need to 100/100 in the save file in order to unlock this. You can still use Chapter Select for the other achievements though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Part 4: The Game's Achievements and How to unlock them - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A. Escaped the Catacombs Description: Complete the Catacombs Gamerscore: 20G Guide: Story-related so it can't be missed. You'll unlock this after you beat Chapter 1: The Catacombs. B. Stop the Destroyer Description: Complete the Destroyer Gamerscore: 30G Guide: Story-related so it can't be missed. You'll unlock this after you beat Chapter 8: The Destroyer. I. Reached Malefor's Lair Description: Complete the Floating Islands Gamerscore: 20G Guide: Story-related so it can't be missed. You'll unlock this after you beat Chapter 10: The Floating Islands. K. Destroy Malefor Description: Complete Malefor's Lair Gamerscore: 30G Guide: Story-related so it can't be missed. You'll unlock this after you beat Chapter 11: Malefor's Lair (which is the final chapter). L. Complete the game Description: Complete the game a 100% Gamerscore: 130G Guide: This wants you to achieve 100% in a save file. Here are the requirements for a 100% save file, how to do them and what achievements are tied to them. 1. Complete all 11 chapters. You can't miss this requirement since completing all the chapters is the point of every video game that ever existed. Tied to: The first 11 achievements 2. Complete all the Armor Sets. You need 3 pieces of armor for a full armor set, Spyro and Cynder (Spyro's ally for this game) each has 3 sets of armor (so that's 9 pieces of armor per dragon), so that's 18 pieces of armor you have to collect. Tied to: One Large Step and Armory 3. Find all the Elemental upgrades Elemental upgrades are the green crystals which when a certian number of them are smashed (5 for Spyro, 4 for Cynder) the dragon will get a increase in their mana gauge. There are 20 of them in all. Tied to: Dragon Spirit 4. Find all the Health upgrades Same thing as requirement number 3 but the Health upgrades are red, and Spyro gets a health boost every 4 crystals while Cynder gets it every 5. Like requirement number 3, you need to find 20 of them. Tied to: Dragon Heart 5. Find all the XP crystals Unlike the requrements 3 and 4, all these does is give each dragon XP (or experience points) and that's it. There are 99 XP crystals to find, which is more than the Mana and Health upgrades combined. Tied to: Dragon Mind 6. Defeat all the Elite enemies. Elite enemies are tougher than your average enemy, especially if you don't use cheats. They wear masks of a certain element, and you need to relieve them of their masks. The masks they wear is randomly generated, so I can't tell you which ones have which element. There are 8 of them to be killed, two of them being on Chapter 10. Tied to: Elite Destroyer Once you have meet all the requirements, you'll unlock this. To check your progess for any of these, hit the back button, and keep pressing LB/RB until you reach Game stats. If you want to check on your level stats, do the same thing as you would for Game stats, but for Level stats this time. Glitch warring: If you missed any of the collectables, and try to use Chapter select and get them, it'll never say 100% for 100% on the save file. The only way around this is to start fresh, and not miss anything this time. K. Entrepreneur Description: Upgrade all your elements to Max Level Gamerscore: 50G Guide: This ones really easy if you use the Max XP cheat. You can get this even faster if you use the Elemental Upgrades cheat. Either way, enter the cheat(s) then click on Elementals, then start upgrading each dragon's elements to the Max. Spyro and Cynder must have their elements fully upgraded in order for this to unlock. L. Buddy System Description: Complete the game with at least 90% of the time in 2 Players Mode Gamerscore: 50G Guide: This wants you to beat the game in 2 Players Mode. However, this does not mean you have to beat the entire game with a friend. In fact, you could have played the game in single player the whole time and still get this. The reason I say this is because it's all a matter of time (literally). There are a few way to go about getting this. 1. Actually playing the game in Co-Op 2. Playing the game in Single player as fast as you can (stoping at the save point next to the open door in chapter 10), and grind the time out 3. Co-Hopping Way 1 is self explaiatory. You just need to find a friend who's willing to play with you, and beat the game. I don't recommend this route, because there are some parts that can be hard in Co-Op (especially if you don't use cheats). Way 2 is kind of like a speedrun of the game, except you are trying for this achievement. You are going to need the Infinite Life, Infinite Mana and Unlock all Elemental Upgrades cheats and have Spyro (or Cynder) fully armored to where you get fury breath if you want to go this route as that wearing that armor set will make short work of any and all unavoidable fights. You could throw the Max XP cheat in if you are worried that you'll have a harder time getting this or if you don't want to enter the Elemental cheat every time you start a level. This is the route I took when I got this. To be clear with Way 3, Co-Hopping means that you play as much as you can in Co-Op, but switch on over to Single player for when you come across a hard and/or tricky spot. This still requires you to have a friend somewhat (unless your really good at controlling both dragons on separate controllers) to make this route easier, and chances are, they want to play too, so this is not a route to consider, though this would be my second choice if you are doing this by yourself. No matter what you do, take note that you don't have to go for the collectables (that's what your first (or second if you are going to get this out of the way first) is for) Here's a guide below to better explain how to get this achievement for ways 2 and 3. Credit for this guide goes to Ruq of Xbox360achievements.org. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=288628 Once you beat chapter 11, and you manage to "play 90% of the game in 2 Player mode", it'll unlock. Note: Only Spyro (player 1) will get this achievement. M. One Large Step Description: Complete one Armor Set Gamerscore: 15G Guide: Refer to Armory for details. N. Armory Description: Complete all Armor Sets Gamerscore: 15G Guide: This achievement was explained in "Completed the Game" but I'll go into detail with this anyway. Armor pieces are found in metal chests hidden through out the game. Each chapter generally has 2 pieces of armor except for the following chapters: The Catacombs: Armor Pieces can't be found in this chapter. Valley of Avalar: 4 armor pieces are found in this chapter. Dragon City: 3 armor pieces are found in this chapter. Attack of the Golem: Only 1 piece of armor can be found in this chapter. The final two chapters: Floating Islands has no amor pieces, and Malefor's Lair is just a final boss battle and nothing more. Once you have all of them, it'll unlock. O. Bodyguard Description: Bring the Artilleryman back to his catapult in less than 5 minutes Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This is done in the Dragon City chapter. I really can't see how this can be missed, especially if you use cheats. You just need to make sure you get the Artilleryman back to his catapult in under 5 minutes and that's it. Foes will pop up to cause a painc attack with the Artilleryman, but it shouldn't slow you down too much. P. Grublin Slayer Description: Kill 225 Grublins Gamerscore: 15G Guide: Refer to Grublin Bane for details. Q. Grublin Bane Description: Kill 450 Grublins Gamerscore: 20G Guide: Grublins are small foes that you come across once you gain control of your dragons for the first time. These guys are really easy to beat with or without cheats. You will most likely get this before you beat the game, but if for some reason you don't, replay any chapter that has Grublins in it (like "The Catacombs") and grind the rest out. Make sure that which ever level you play in, you actually finish and save so it'll count towards "Army Slayer". This applies with "Orc Demolisher", "Troll Slayer", "Dark Kinght", and "Wyvern Slayer". R. Orc Slayer Description: Kill 100 Orcs Gamerscore: 15G Guide: Refer to Orc Demolisher for details. S. Orc Demolisher Description: Kill 200 Orcs Gamerscore: 20G Guide: Orcs are larger than Grublins, but smaller than Trolls. If you don't have 200 dead Orcs by the time you beat the game, than replay a chapter and grind the rest off. I suggest the Burning Land chapter for a lot of Orcs like to hang around there. There is an area Infinte amount of Orcs and Trolls at. You'll find it where you would found the last piece of armor in that chapter and the game. What you do is you beat all the foes in that area, fly away, fly back, and repeat until you get the achievement. T. Last Rampart Description: Close Warfang Gate without dying once Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This is done at the end of the Dragon City chapter. You need to make sure you don't die when Warfang Gate fully closes. Using the Infinte Life cheat will make it really hard, if not impossible to die at this part. It's still not bad even if you didn't use the cheat. When you take control again, light one of the tourches then light the other. Kill the enemies that first poped through the door, then go up to the door, and close it. If the door begins to open slightly, close it up again. Keep doing this until the door is fully sealed. U. Troll Slayer Description: Kill 10 Trolls Gamerscore: 10G Guide: Trolls are the largest foes you'll come across in the game. If you don't have 10 dead Trolls by the time you beat the game, replay the Burning Land chapter, and go all the way to the end. When you try to finish the level, the game will make you beat 2 Trolls. If you still don't have this unlock, then go to the Infinte Orc/Troll spot I told you about in Orc Demolisher to finish it off. V. Wyvern Slayer Description: Kill 45 Wyverns Gamerscore: 5G Guide: Wyvern are the game's only real flying foes (as far as I know). If you don't have 45 under your belt by the time you beat the game, the Burning Lands will once again help you. Play through the chapter until you reach the lava river. Then start killing Wyverns, and if you don't have this achievement, fly around for a bit (they pop up as many times as it takes to get the this) and kill them again. Keep at this until it unlocks. W. Dark Knight Description: Kill 70 Shadows Gamerscore: 10G Guide: Shadows sort of look like skeletons, and you first come across the in Chapter 3: Valley of Avalar. If you don't have 70 dead Shadows when the game's said and done, you'll find a lot of Shadows in the Ruins of Warfang Chapter, so replay that chapter. X. Elitist Description: Upgrade one element to Max Level Gamerscore: 15G Guide: Refer to Entrepreneur for details. Y. Dragon Spirit Description: Find all Elemental Upgrades Gamerscore: 25G Guide: This achievement was explained in "Completed the Game" but I'll go into detail with this anyway. Elemental Upgrades are Green Crystals that up Spyro and Cynder's Mana by a small amount. Each chapter has at least one Green crystal to find, except for the final chapter, which is nothing more than a boss battle. Z. Elite Destroyer Description: Kill all Elite Enemies Gamerscore: 15G Guide: This achievement was explained in "Completed the Game" but I'll go into detail with this anyway. Elite Enemies are stonger versions of the your adverage foe. These guys wear elemental masks, so only that element can be used to damage them. However, if you manage to hit them with that element enough times, the mask will fly off, allowing you to hit him with any type of attack. Each chapter either has 1 Elite enemy or none at all, except for the Floating Islands chapter where it has 2 Elite Enemies. AA. Grappler Description: Perform 100 Enemy Grabs Gamerscore: 5G Guide: For this achievement, have either Spyro or Cynder use a grab attack (Press B) and they will grab the enemy. Do this 99 times more, and it'll unlock. Note: I'm not sure if you need to peform an attack while grabing a foe in order for this to unlock. AB. Air Grappler Description: Perform 100 Enemy Air Grabs Gamerscore: 5G Guide: You can unlock this in 1 of 3 ways: 1. Use Cynder's Wind Tornado 2. Use Cynder's Shadow Attack (not Shadow Breath) 3. Use Spyro's Earth Ball Reguardless of which way you use, when a enemy is in the air, jump (press A) and grab the foe. Do this 99 more times and it'll unlock. Note: Like Grappler, I'm not sure if you need to peform an attack while grabing a foe in order for this to unlock. Also, you'll be working towards "Juggler" when you do this. One more thing, all three ways work best if you have Infinite Mana turned on. AC. Juggler Description: Throw 200 Enemies into the Air Gamerscore: 10G Guide: Refer to Air Grappler for ways on how to unlock this. You don't have to grab anyone in the air, throw them into it. AD. Combo Maker Description: Perform a 70 hit Combo string Gamerscore: 5G Guide: Refer to Button Smasher for details. AE. Combo Master Description: Perform a 125 hit Combo string Gamerscore: 5G Guide: Refer to Button Smasher for details. AF. Button Smasher Description: Perform a 300 hit Combo string Gamerscore: 10G Guide: Getting 300 really hard... without cheats. With Cheats, I can't help but wonder if this is some kind of joke. Turn the Infinite Mana Cheat on (if you haven't already), use Cynder's Wind Tornado, and you'll hit 300 in no time. Want to get this even sooner? Use the Elemental Upgrades cheat (or not if you have Cynder's Silver armor already) as well as Infinite Mana cheat, equip all of Cynder's Silver armor (has Poisonous Hit bonus), and use Cynder's Wind Tornado. AG. Unattainable Description: Dodge all Golem attacks in Chamber of Retribution Gamerscore: 10G Guide: This is done in the begining of Chapter 1. This one is impossible to miss if you use the Infinite Life Cheat. If you don't use it, then it can be a bit tricky. Here's a Youtube video showing how to get this without using cheats below. Credit for the video goes to 2809Gamerscore of Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba9VFn2_uE0 AH. Dragon Heart Description: Find all Health Upgrades Gamerscore: 25G Guide: This achievement was explained in "Completed the Game" but I'll go into detail with this anyway. Health Upgrades are Red Crystals that up Spyro and Cynder's Health by a small amount. Each chapter has at least one Red crystal to find, except for the final chapter, which is nothing more than a boss battle. AI. Berserker Description: Launch 20 Fury attacks Gamerscore: 5G Guide: In order to launch a fury attack, you need to do various physical (claw) and elemental attacks until the purple bar is filled up. Once it's filled up, press X and Y at the same time (can be tricky pull off) and Spyro and Cynder will go into fury mode for a short time. Do this 19 more times and it'll unlock. AJ. Savior Description: Protect all the Cheetah's houses in the village Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This is done right away in the Valley of Avalar chapter. I really don't see how this can be missed either. You just need to kill the Grublins that are attacking the houses. After you do that, Wyverns will show up. Do the same thing with these foes and it'll unlock as soon as the last one is gone. AK. Master of Fire Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Fire attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Spyro. Use either his RT attack or his RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. I would use his RT attack for this one. AL. Master of Electricity Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Electric attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Spyro. Use either his RT attack or his RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. I would use his RB attack for this one. AM. Master of Wind Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Wind attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Cynder. Use either her RT attack or her RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. You can use whichever attack you think is fastest for this one. AN. Master of Poison Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Poison attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Cynder. Use either her RT attack or her RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. I would use her RB attack for this one. AO. Master of Ice Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Ice attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Spyro. Use either his RT attack or his RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. I would use his RT attack for this one. AP. Master of Fear Description: Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Fear attack Gamerscore: 5G Guide: This Element belongs to Cynder. Use either her RT attack or her RB and once you get 75 kills, it'll unlock. You can use whichever attack you think is fastest for this one. AQ. Executioner Description: Kill 625 Enemies Gamerscore: 10G Guide: Refer to "Army Slayer" for details. AR. Army Slayer Description: Kill 1000 Enemies Gamerscore: 25G Guide: 1000 sounds like a lot, but if you combine all the foe kill achievements, you'll have 775 kills under your belt already (not including the Elemental achievements) leaving you with 225 left to go. If your final hit consided of strictly physical/claw and/or fury attacks and do include the elemental achievements, you'll have 1225 under your belt, which is more than enough for this achievement. So basicly, if you go for the other achievements, you'll get this. If you don't however, replay the Dragon City chapter until you get to the end of it. Here light the torches if you want, but don't close the door. Enemies will keep coming out of the door, making this a good place to generate kills in general, both grapper, Jugger and elemental achievements. You'll want to use the Infinite Life and Mana cheats to make sure you can keep at this for a long time. Once you have 1000 kills under your belt, it'll unlock. To keep track of how many kills you have made already, press the back button. AS. Dragon Mind Description: Find all XP Crystals Gamerscore: 25G Guide: This achievement was explained in "Completed the Game" but I'll go into detail with this anyway. XP Crystals are Blue Crystals that give you experience points to upgrade your elemental powers. Every level has these crystals to collect except for Attack of the Golem and Malefor's Lair. AT. Unlocked Bonus Description: Unlocked all Bonus galleries Gamerscore: 40G Guide: In order for this to unlock you need to unlock everything in the Bonus gallery. This will unlock in the same time as "Completed the Game" so don't worry about not getting this. Here's everything you need to do for this below: Spyro’s Gallery: Max Out Spyro's Fire element Cynder’s Gallery: Max Out Cynder's Poison element Scenery Gallery: Complete the Burning Lands chapter Enemy Gallery: Beat the game with a 100% save file (the reason why this unlocks in the same time as "Completed the game) Alliance Gallery: Get a 150 hit combo (You'll be going for "Button Masher" anyway, so don't worry about not getting this) AU. Golem Wrecker Description: Kill the Golem without dying once Gamerscore: 30G Guide: This is done in the Attack of the Golem chapter. This ones really easy with the Infinite Life cheat turned on, but if during the button prompts you press the wrong button, or too slow, it can't save you from dying. Here are the buttons to press for when you get to the button prompts: First time: A, X (mash), A, A, X (mash) Second time: A, X (mash), A, A, Y AV. Dragon Assassin Description: Kill Malefor without dying once Gamerscore: 40G Guide: This is done in the final chapter (Malefor's Lair). Do the same thing as you would for the Golem, but the button prompts are different. If you during the button prompts you miss a button, press the wrong button, or too slow, you'll either die or Malefor gets a bit of his health back. Using the Infinite Life and Mana cheat and/or Spyro and Cynder's Armor set that gives you fury breath will make this last boss a joke. Here are the buttons you need to press during each of the button prompts you'll come across during this fight: First time: A, X Second time: A, A, X, Y (mash) Third time: X (mash), X, A (mash), Y ============================================================================== | Part 5: How to Contact me | ============================================================================== You have 2 Main ways of contacting me: 1. Send me a E-mail 2. Send me a message on my Gamertag on X-Box Live My E-mail address sshadowjohn91(at)yahoo(dot)com. My Gamertag is Gamer364. This can be done only through a text message. E-mail or Message me if you: A. See a spelling error: I may have made spelling errors as I was writing this. B. Have a question that needs asking: You may have something that needs clearing up or something to that affect. C. Have a correction to make: I'm not 100% sure on some of the stuff mentioned though out the guide. D. Want to use my guide on your website: I personally have no problem letting you use my guide on your website, as long as you ask me first, and you give me credit for it. E. Think you see someone using my guide without permission: I don't like it when people steal my stuff (at least, not without asking me first). I don't do it to other people (at least without giving other people credit for the idea), so why do it to me anyway? F. Have something to add-on to this or that/there's something I forgot to include: If there something you think I should have included, but I didn't, you are encouraged to send me an Email for this or that. Do note that if you do decide you want to message me, make sure if the topic is about The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (if that's too long, Dawn of the Dragon or Xbox 360's Legend of Spyro will also work). As of right now the only sites that have permission to use my guide: A. GameFAQs (I have an ancount with them, so they don't really need my permission.) B. Neoseeker (The owner got permission in advanced) More to come (maybe). Don't even think about email me if you are going to send me: A. Hate Mail B. Spam C. Name Calling mail D. Barelly readable/Unreadable mail E. Mail with mostly creative words (if you get my drift) Letter A I take offence to, because I don't send hate mail to no one. I have a Spam safeguard with yahoo, and it'll tell me if I have spam or not with Letter B. Also, if I think your trying sending me spam on Xbox Live, don't think I won't wirte a complant about you, and/or tell Microsoft on you. With letter C, I also take offence, because I get name called in school. Letter D, If your sending me an E-mail, have spell check avaiable to you and your not sure of your spelling, then why not use it? Letter E, Unless I messed up that badly, there's really no reason for that anyway. All of these things can and will make me think your a bad person, when in reality your probably not. All in all, just don't do it. Follow these rules, and if you add-on and/or correct something, I'll give you credit for it. Note: Don't get discouraged if I don't answer you right away. Sometimes, I might be on the Computer and sometimes I'll be on Xbox Live. Your best bet is to send both an E-mail and an Xbox Live message.
