Introduction *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* This was made to help those that need Side Quest help. We tried to add as much as we could think of to help. This is more of a Companion guide to our Walkthrough. We felt our walkthrough was getting a bit long and crowded. This is not a needed thing in the game to beat it. This is only if you want to complete the game 100 percent. We will probably update as needed just like the walkthrough. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* III. Side Quests *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* _________________________ ________________________ ________________________/01. I've been trying to figure out how to go about helping with this. I can't think of any specific way to help with this. I'll do this by listing general tips and also the way I've completed it. If you have a better way of doing it use it this is only an example of how to do it. ############## #General Tips# ############## Patience, Practice and Learning the pattern and layout of the buildings that comes down the corridor is the key to beating this gauntlet. When you start, peek around the corner, if the Medium sized building with the single door is coming wait until it passes you then go out. That building waste quite a bit of time going through it. Always take the right hand side path through buildings if you are able to. If your near Statue number 1 always try to avoid the one building that you have to zigzag through to exit out the other side (the one with a single doorway on the left). Don't jump/double jump from the high statue locations, it will cause you to be dazed on the floor and lose valuable time/movement time to get away from the lava pit. Go for the Second Statue first the one on the upper right of the corridor and wait there for the right building to get to Statue number 1. When inside a building be sure to jump when you are going in the forward motion (opposite way the buildings are going). If you are jumping in that direction you will at least stay in the same general area that you jumped at. If you are just walking you are being moved backwards because the buildings move faster then you are walking/running. ################################ #Walkthrough/Tips on Gauntlet 3# ################################ I will give you directions (There is to many variables to give an accurate walkthrough for this challenge) on how I beat this Gauntlet. Personally. my fastest time through this Gauntlet so far is 220 seconds (that is 80 seconds to spare. I will put this as if you have been doing this gauntlet many times and know the pattern and layout of the buildings very well. I will try to be as specific and detailed as I can be with these directions. These are only rough directions to help you plot the best course through these buildings. I recommend reading all the steps before doing this. If you do not like these directions make your own path to complete it. This is only to help you get the idea on what you have to do to complete it. To us this seems to be the fastest way to complete this Gauntlet. Just be sure you do all the jumps flawlessly and get through the buildings without to much problems and you should do fine on this. When I say Right or left is for when you are facing the Goal doors. The times I put on here are based on the times I had remaining when I was playing this while typing up this description. Times will vary depending on what order the buildings start out with when you start. The times though should help you know if you are ahead of schedule or behind. You need to master your Delayed Double Jump. If you don't know what I mean, it's the Jump you use to get farther into a jump. You do this by jumping forward, waiting (not double jumping right away) until you are going downward in that jump and do your somersault. 1. When you first Start, before going out into the corridor, move the camera to look to Sphinx's right. Start going down the corridor, when you see the building with the very big Doorway in the center of it. You will get the farthest forward starting with that building. Avoid starting out when the building with the single left doorway comes, that is the worse one to start in. You will more then likely end up in the pit if you start in that one. 2. Once you have started with that building with the big doorway, be sure to double jump through that doorway, when you land double jump right away again, so the building isn't carrying/moving you backwards. 3. The next building is one with four doorways, go through the 2 doorways on the right. Go through that right side door of the building coming up. Double jump onto the ramp on your left and go up the ramp some and double jump up to the top of the building before reaching the top of the ramp. Go in the direction you have been going against the buildings on the right side of this building. From here you need to do a double jump to the next building. Double jump right away so you land near the edge of the building your on. Run to the very edge just about falling off it and do a long double jump (meaning push jump and hold the button and somersault (after about two or three seconds) when you start going downward in your jump. You should land on the building with the ramp to your left. You will need this building later remember it. If you happen to miss jumping onto this building, move to your left and land on the stairs and quickly jump up the stairs and over the building. 4. Double jump right away and land on the ground. Next building is a ramp with a window in the upperleft. Go Through that and the next building is the worse building in the gauntlet. Go in the left doorway, turn right, then left, then left, and jump when you have to make a right turn (you should jump right out of it. Next building you need to jump in the left doorway, go up the ramp to the right and jump out the window. You have now gone through one cycle through the various buildings, the next building you should be going through is the one with the big doorway in the center. 5. Keep going through the buildings like I specified in the previous steps. You will see to your right, high up on the wall, a place where the second statue sits. What you need to do is keep going and go about a building length pass that and after you go through that building that has 4 doorways. Go into the right side doorway of the next building, up the ramp quickly jumping to the top and the building should be right next to the second statue. Jump to the statue and smash it. Stand here for a moment and wait for the next building to pass and jump on that building with the higher ramp, the one I told you to remember earlier. Go up the ramp wait until you get near the 1st Statue and smash it. You should have somewhere around 205 seconds remaining at this point. 6. Stand here for a moment, wait for the ramp building to pass. You will see the building with the single door on the left, instead of going through this building when the building gets close enough, double jump onto it's roof and double jump off onto the floor. Now make your way through the buildings like you have been and go as fast as you can, the next statue will be ground level on your left far up the corridor. 7. Once you get that (hopefully before that building with the single doorway on the left side comes by), wait for your next good opening and make your way quickly through the buildings to the final statue on the right, right near the exit of the corridor. Wait for an opening to sneak into the exit corridor just a few feet away and run to the goal and you have now completed Gauntlet 3. I completed this particular play through with 46 seconds remaining on the clock. ____________________________ _________________________ ___________________________/10. Extra/Optional Items\________________________ These Items are a bit useless but if you want them here you go. Beetle Breeding Jar - You find this at the end of that obstacle course/tower thing near Great Wall Entrance III Loyalty Card - Get this by giving the beetle breeder the Beetle breeding Jar. It gives you half off the original price of beetles. Kind of useless item if you ask me since you can get capture beetles fairly easy from breaking jars and statues. IV. Side Quest Frequently Asked Questions ========================================== I'll add this section for those that need help/tips with mini-game/Side quest questions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Q. How do I beat the obstacle course near anubis's Tower and can you speed up the handle? A. Cut corners by jumping off ropes before reaching the top or blindly leaping to the swinging rope near the end as examples and NO you can't speed up the handle. You need to get a time of 78 at least. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Q. How do I beat the time for the hanging pendant Race and where is the pendant? The pendant is located on a cliff near the Swimming Challenge (where you get the Crocodile Scales). You beat it by unlocking the speed pads under the big skulls on the beach with the atun eyes and using those to your advantage to beat his time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Have tips on how to beat the 3rd Gauntlet? A. I would recommend going after the highest statue on either side. I would recommend the right first though and then get the other one on the left (this is only by how I beat it because I waited at this one on the right until the right building came along to get the one on the left side). You should Jump while going through buildings. If you are just running through the buildings you are moving backwards since the building moves faster then you are moving forward. Jumping forward while in a building will cause you to stay at least in the same or close to the same place you first jumped from. Also learn the setup of each building it will make it easier to navigate through them and also which ones you need to use to get the statue you are after. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Q. What do I do with the Three Targets near the obstacle course near Anubis's Tower? A. You need to shoot them quickly to get an Ankh piece. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Q. How do I carry more Scarabs with Sphinx? A. After you Acquire the Fourth Stolen Jewel give it to the Jewel person in the Museum. They will give you the Parasol. Take that parasol to the guy (it's the same one you gave money to in abydos) in the watch tower in Bedouin Outpost to get a Larger Scarab bag. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- We hope this has helped you in locating or completing what you needed to _________________________________________________________________________ Copyright 2004 YuGiOhFm2002 & YuGiOhAngel
