All files and weapons will be added to a numbered slot up under the archive menu. The full file and a description of each weapon may be viewed at any time during gameplay under this menu. ================ Special Finishes ================ A few of the weapons have special finishes that can be initiated depending on where and how you hit the enemy. Special Finishes will begin a cutscene that will instantly defeat an enemy. Some Special Finishes can also be activated while your character stands next to an obstacle and hits a Shibito with a particular weapon. --> Metal Pipe - Special Finish Requirement: Hit a Shibito while it is standing for the final hit with the pipe. Description: Three hits to the head. - Special Finish Requirement: Hit a Shibito while it ducks down while staggering from a hit - this must be the final hit. Description: Stomach Thrust followed by an overhead hit while the Shibito falls to its knees. - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up behind a Shibito then attack it from the back. Description: The character will tap the on the Shibito's shoulder then hit it in the head as it turns. --> .38 Caliber Handgun - Special Finish Requirement: Wait for a Shibito armed with weapon to lean back their weapon and then shoot them or hit them with the gun right before they strike while close to them. Description: The character hits the Shibito over the head with the gun then points the gun straight at the Shibito's face when it rises up and shoots. =============================================================================== Walkthrough [WT00] =============================================================================== - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - August 3rd Mount Gojaku/Hanudo Mine 1:18 AM - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Playable Character(s): Sam Mission Objective: Search for the Others. Goal: Break into the Mining Office. == Road to Tabori == --SAM MONROE'S FACULTY ID (#07)-- will be received at the start of this mission. All files may be examined by pressing the Select button and choosing "ARCHIVE" from the top set of menu tabs - use the L1 and R1 buttons to cycle through the tabs. For this mission, you are in control of Sam Monroe. Use the left analog to move Sam. Go past the toppled mine carts to the left up ahead and walk up the stairs. The path to the right of the stairs will only lead to the edge of a cliff. A cutscene will trigger halfway up the stairs. --> Sub Goal: Sneak by the Shibito without being seen. The tutorial for the alert system will appear on the screen after the cutscene. Whenever an enemy is nearby, a heartbeat sound will occur and (if you have a Dual Shock 3 controller) your controller will vibrate. There is a Shibito with his back turned up ahead. You can press up on the Directional pad to toggle Sam's flashlight on or off, but you don't have to turn it off since the Shibito will not notice it. Tapping to the left will cause Sam to yell, but you certainly don't want to do that right now. The left path that leads to the south is blocked off at the end. Walk toward the set of mine carts up ahead and tap the O button to crouch - the O button switches between a crouching and standing stance. Sam can move while crouching, so move around the right side of the mine carts. The Shibito will turn around and begin to walk the other way as Sam moves to the other side. It will walk toward the side that Sam came from and will crouch with its back turned. Step out from around the side of the set of carts then carefully continue down the path to the north. You can actually sneak behind the mine carts very quickly and move out from behind them instantly since the Shibito will turn right when Sam first steps around the side of them. All is not lost if the Shibito happens to see Sam. If it does then quickly run into the tunnel up ahead and grab the metal pipe then defeat it with the pipe. It will leave behind a --MINING PICK (#23)--. -- CHECKPOINT -- Sub Goal: Sneak by the Shibito without being seen. COMPLETE! --> Sub Goal: Find a weapon. Enter the tunnel further ahead. A --METAL PIPE (#24)-- will be sticking out along the left side of the tunnel. Approach the pipe and watch for the X icon to appear while standing near it then pick up the pipe by pressing the X button. Swing the pipe with the R1 or [] buttons, hold down either of the buttons to perform a strong attack, tap the buttons a few times to perform a combo swing (maximum of three swings), and press forward + attack to perform a lunging attack. Move further down the tunnel up ahead. Sub Goal: Find a weapon. COMPLETE! --> Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito by the Mining Office. --> Sub Goal: Break the lock on the Mining Office door. At the end of the tunnel, you can catch site of a female Shibito with her back turned as she looks through the top portion of the nearby door to the office. Crouch and move toward her then attack her with the metal pipe once you get close and Sam will hit her then knock her halfway through the window. Make sure that you don't knock over the water pail on the right side of the tunnel while moving toward her or she will hear it and turn. She will leave behind a --HAND SICKLE (#15)--. Go ahead and pick it up. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up on the female Shibito that has its back turned while standing by the office window and attack it. Sam must use the metal pipe to attack her or this will not work. Description: Sam smacks the Shibito in the head then as it staggers, he runs up to it and grabs its head then plows it into the bottom portion of the door window. ----- One might think that you could avoid damaging the sliding door window by not performing a stealth knockout on the female Shibito in order to help out in the next chapter but it doesn't matter whether you knock her through the window or not since the window will be broken on the next chapter anyway. Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito by the Mining Office. COMPLETE! The siren control room (small building to the right of the set of carts) up ahead does not contain anything and the path to the side of the building is blocked but there is a ladder on the south side of the siren control room, so walk against it and climb it. Collect the --DIGITAL VIDEO TAPE (#08)-- from off the top of the boxes at the top. Walk over to the office entrance on the left side of the set of carts. Sam can't open the door since it is locked. Stand in front of the door (while the icon appears) then tap the X button a few times in a row to attack and finally break the lock. Sub Goal: Break the lock on the Mining Office door. COMPLETE! Open the door after breaking the lock to trigger a cutscene that will end this chapter. Goal: Break into the Mining Office. COMPLETE! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - August 3rd Mount Gojaku, Hanuda Mine 2:03 AM - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Character(s): Sam Monroe and Melissa Gale Mission Objective: Escape to Hirsakai with Melissa Gale. Goal: Reach the Road to Kirasakai. == Mining Office == A cutscene will play as the chapter opens. --> Sub Goal: Evade the attacking Shibito. A female Shibito will appear outside the office as soon as the cutscene ends. Run toward the entrance door that Sam busted through on the last chapter and hold the /\ button when the button icons appears while standing next to it to brace the door then shake your controller to help Sam keep the door closed. The Shibito will eventually give up then run toward the door on the south side of the office. Run toward this second door. Sam can brace the door just like the other door, but the Shibito will eventually break through anyway. It will run straight toward Melissa and try to attack her. Don't worry too much about hitting it until it runs toward Melissa. Move up behind it while its back is turned then attack it to deliver a devastating blow to it. If Melissa braces the door on the south side of the office then the Shibito will not break through. In this case, you will have to run back to the other door once again and brace it since the Shibito will return to the first door. The Shibito will eventually break through when either Sam or Melissa braces the door. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Brace both doors for as long as possible then sneak up behind the Shibito as it attacks Melissa and attack it. Sam must use the metal pipe to attack the Shibito. Description: Sam taps on the Shibito's back then smacks it in the head as the Shibito turns. ----- If you don't brace the doors in the office for as long as possible then the Shibito will not run toward Melissa and attack - she will run toward Sam and attack! The Shibito will usually run toward Sam if the second door is braced by Melissa. Sub Goal: Evade the attacking Shibito. COMPLETE! Melissa will run toward the back door of the office and open it then ask Sam to follow her. You can take this time to check out the basement below the office, but there is nothing down there. If you take too long while examining other areas of the office then the female Shibito will get back up and attack. Approach the phone in the office and press the X button to interact with it while standing next to it - watch for the "Use Phone" option. There are two numbers that appear on the phone that can be dialed: "364" in the middle of the phone and "508" circled on the bottom right side of the phone. 364 will get you a busy signal since that is the number of this particular phone and 508 will let you hear a Shibito moaning on the other line. Dialing "508" makes the Shibito in the mine up above unlock a door that contains a secret item as he walks to the phone to answer it, so be sure to do this. Once Sam moves toward Melissa, she will lead the way down the path behind the office. Follow her up the stairs then into the tunnel to the right at the end of the path. A small cutscene will trigger inside of the tunnel. == West Shaft Upper Level == --> Sub Goal: Find a gun. Oh no, you sure as hell don't want to continue down that tunnel, my friend. Turn around and Melissa will mention that there are too many of Shibitos and that you will have to find another way around then she will run across the bridge. Follow her. You need to find some sort of gun to defeat the Shibito at the current end. == East Shaft Upper Level == Walk into the tunnel on the other side of the bridge and Melissa will be startled as she sees a Shibito around the corner. Luckily for her and Sam, the Shibito has its back turned and is conveniently facing an open elevator shaft. Crouch down and sneak over behind the unaware Shibito then attack it from behind and knock it toward the elevator shaft to defeat it. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up behind the Shibito that faces the elevator shaft then attack it from behind. Sam must be equipped with the metal pipe for the scene, although you can stagger the Shibito all the way to the edge and knock it off with any other weapon. Description: Sam slams his weapon into the back of the Shibito then casually move forward and pushes it over the edge. ----- If you happen to run to the west end of the tunnel without triggering the cutscene on the east end, then the Shibito with the gun will not have his back turned and he will easily defeat you. Pick up the --.38 CALIBER HANDGUN (#44)-- from where the Shibito stood. It comes with a box of 90 bullets, so you won't be running out anytime soon. Hold the L1 button to aim then tap the R1 or [] button to fire. Reload by holding the L1 button and tapping the /\ button or by flicking the controller up and to the left. You can actually perform a melee attack by simply pressing either attack button while not holding the L1 button. If you dialed "508" on the phone in the office below then enter the pumping station room through the door to your left (it should be wide open) and pick up the ++CAN OPENER++ on the left set of shelves inside. You can also walk over to the phone to the left of the doorway and dial "364" to dial the phone above though this does no good for this episode. Dialing "508" will give you a busy signal since that is the number of this phone. == East Shaft Upper Level == A Shibito will attack as you step back into the tunnel that leads to the bridge. Shoot her as she runs toward Sam. After shooting the first Shibito, two more will hear the gunfire and run toward Sam from the other side of the bridge, so prepare to shoot them as well. Pick up the --MINING PICK (#23)-- from one of the Shibitos to add it to your archive if you didn't pick it up from the very first Shibito in the last chapter. You should also take this time to pull the switch off to the left side of the tunnel. This switch will adjust the tracks so that the tracks from the bridge connect to the ones in front of the locked gate in the back of the tunnel. == Bridge == Run to the other side of the bridge and another Shibito will attack. Shoot him and pick up his --SHOVEL (#25)-- to add it to your archive. Any of the Shibitos on this side can be led to the side of the bridge without railing and knocked off if you want to finish them that way. Two more Shibitos will attack as you enter the tunnel on the other side. One will rush out from a tunnel off to the right. That tunnel is your destination but don't go there just yet. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Wait for a Shibito armed with weapon to lean back their weapon and then shoot them or hit them with the gun right before they strike while close to them. Description: Sam hits the Shibito over the head with the gun then points the gun straight at the Shibito's face when it rises up and shoots. - Special Finish Requirement: Stand next to the railing on either side and hit a Shibito with the gun. Description: On the final blow, Sam will grab the Shibito then shoot it and toss it over the side of the railing. ----- == West Shaft Upper Level == Run toward the back of the current tunnel then get behind the single mine cart at the end. Watch for the "Push Cart" command then hold the /\ button to push the cart. Quickly tap the X button when the "Jump in" command appears to have Sam hop inside. Sam and the mine cart will barrel down the bridge and Sam will jump off just before the mine carts crashes into the locked gate on the other side (if you pressed the switch earlier to adjust the tracks). An X button command will appear for Sam to jump off the cart manually, but you don't need to press it since he will automatically jump off before impact. == East Shaft Upper Level == Enter the newly opened gate then collect the --MINE WORKER'S JOURNAL (#10)-- from the boxes beside the mine cart. Run back down the bridge to the east and enter the tunnel on the right side. Once Sam walks far enough down this tunnel a cutscene will play and the chapter will end as well as the demo. Goal: Reach the Road to Kirasakai. COMPLETE! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. --BELLA MONROE'S DIARY (#11)-- will be added to the archive menu after the demo is completed. In order to view this file and any other file that you have obtained after completing the demo, start a new game like normal. As long as you don't quit the game and go back to the PS3 main menu then the information in the archive will remain available. There is no way to save it. =============================================================================== Special Items [SP00] =============================================================================== 01 -- CAN OPENER Unlocks: Archive item in Episode 7, Chapter 4 Location: East Shaft Upper Level (Pumping Station) In the Miner Office, interact with the phone and dial "508".
