There is a range of things to do in Shadow Of The Colossus, not just killing
the Colossi. You can also collect the fruits from trees, kill the lizards and
enjoy the true beauty of riding round the vast open world. (All explained in
the extras section)

I would like to think im a pretty good FAQ author as this is my third guide
ive done in one month and i would like to know what you think of this FAQ even
if its just that you like the layout of it will do, as i want to make my FAQ
as readable and orgainised as possible, so my future FAQ's are alot better.

This might be rather hard to begin with but i found if you jump (/\) and hold
grab (R1) then you are more likely to jump and grab onto your horse. I found
this easier to do then standing next to Agro (The horse) and pressing mount
horse. (Takes to long) There are others tips for riding the horse in the Tips
and Hint section.

In the bottom right hand side of the screen is the display panel. The pink
circle with lines around it, is your grip/power/breath meter. When you grab
onto a cliff, tree, building or Coloussi it will begin to decrease and when it
is about to disappear completely you will hear a bleeping sound. As the sound 
gets faster the less grip time you have left.

The square box next to that is your curretly selected weapon. (only the sword,
bow and nothing equip if its your first time playing through the game)

And finally at the bottom of your screen is your health bar, health will
slowly restore itself over time but there are ways of speeding up this
process. The things that will hurt you are falling from big heights and being
hit by a Coloussi.

|__/|__/hen you gain control press X to call Agro, climb onto him with /\ now
ride out of the temple via the steps on the left or right of the alter. When
your out in the daylight hold O to hold your sword up and a blue light will
come of it aim the sword until all the blue lines are very close togehter (If
you get it directly where you need it then the joypad will rumble. Ride to
where you were pointing the sword (when it rumbled) to start climbing the wall
(This is a tutorial climb teaching you things like how to roll and climb)
When your at the top you will see the first Colossi in a mini cutscene.

Either run up to him or shoot him with an arrow to stop him moving. You now
need to grab onto the back of his left leg. When you grab hold there in the
center of his leg its glowing dark blue. Press [] to start charging up your
attack (This dosent have to be full its will only do minimal damage) It will
then fall forward allowing you to climb onto his back, to get onto the
platform go to the sides of it and press /\ to jump up and grab hold of it,
now shimmy until your hanging directly in the center of the platform on his
back and press /\ once more to climb up. Let your grip meter recharge now.

When your ready, start to climb up his back until you get to his head. You
need to hold R1 to hold the fur on his head or you will fall off when he
shakes and you need to do it when to stab him anyway so only let go if you
need to recharge your strength meter. There is now a light blue symbol on his
his head now which you need to stab. Hold [] like before but this time hold it
until the grip meter flashes, this shows its at maxium power. Keep stabing his
head until he dies. You now get attacked by these black line things but you
cant fight them back.

Well done, you have killed your first Colossi. I wish i could say that they
were all this easy but sadly i can't.

If you have completed the game and you have started a new game on hard mode
this is what you must do to kill this Colossi. You will now have to stab a
point on his right arm, to get to it stand on the platfrom on his back and
wait until you have a clear chance to jump and grab hold of his arm before you
climb over and stab it.

/_/his Colossi is slightly harder than the first, it is high above the ground
and there is nowhere you can grab. You need to shoot the soles of its feet so
it will fall over, so either stand in front of it so it goes up on its back
legs (can be dangerous as it raises its legs so it can hurt you when it comes
crashing back down again) or try and shoot the soles of its feet as it walks
round. When you shoot its feet it will fall on its side, now quickly run to
its leg and grab hold of the fur, when you do this the Colossi will stand up.

Climb to the top of its back and you can now run all the way along its back to
its head. When on its head grab hold and attack it. When it has about 1/ 3 of
its health the symbol will disappear and you can no longer hurt it here
anymore and you must find the new vital point that has appeared. Run back down
its back until you get to the tail and here is the new vital point. Two or
three fully charged attacks will kill it.

The new vital point on this Colossi is on the left hand side of its leg, so do
the two vitals from in normal mode now go to its left leg, grab the fur and
climb down until you can stab its leg and kill it.

/_/o get to this Colossi you must swim out into the lake near the big platform
and then run up the big spiral column and then jump onto the big plate and
climb up to face the Colossi.

This Colossi will wake up as you approach it, it has a giant sword and this is
how you are going to climb up but at the moment its armour is in the way
blocking you from getting up.  There is a big white circle near the edge which
the Colossi is near and this is what you need to break his armour. Lure it
away from the plate by running away to the other side and it will follow you,
when it has cached up  run back and stand on the white plate, the Colossi will
then attack you with the sword and if you time it right you can roll out of
the way (R1+/\)and he will hit the plate and break his armour.

You now need to get him to swing his sword at you again but this time be on
ground not on the plate. When it hits the floor he will leave it there and you
can run up his sword and then jump onto the fur on his arm, you now have to
attack its two vital points one of which is its stomach and the other is its
head. I would say go for the head first its easy to get to. The stomach second
as its likely you’ll fall off while trying to climb back up to its head.

Simply climb up to the Colossi’s head and attack it until it symbol disappears
now climb back down and go for the vital on its stomach. To get to the stomach
move to where there is fur between you and the stomach and when there is a
point for you to jump press R1+/\ with the direction you want to jump with the
left analogue. Now climb to the vital and attack it until it disappears
bringing down the Colossi.

There is an extra vital point now on the left arm (not the one with the sword
in) I think the best way to deal with the vitals in hard mode is to go to the
head then this new vital and finally the stomach. To get to this vital climb
to the shoulder and climb down until you can get to the vital.

/_/his can be a very annoying Colossi if it wont do what you want it to do. Go
onto one of the mini hill tops and shoot it with the bow and arrow and wait
until it comes towards you, now jump down the other side of the hill (to where
it cant see you) and run down and through the tunnels, come out on the
opposite side of where you came in so that your behind the Colossi.

Jump out from the tunnel but stay behind the hill just adjust the camera so
you can see what its doing. It will the put its two front legs down one side
of the hill and its back legs will be in the air run up to it and climb up its
tail (hold R1 and press /\ to jump to the next section of its tail) run up its
back and go onto its head and attack it to kill the Colossi down.

Now there are two new vital points you have to deal with. Do the same as you
would in normal mode to get on its back and then the two new vital points are
on its both its front left and right legs.

/_/his Colossi is a flying type, jump through the hole in front of you and you
will fall into water swim forward and you will see three floating section
between two tall towers. Climb into the either the far right one or far left
one (which one you can on alters which way the colossi comes down) use the bow
and arrow to shoot the colossi from here and it will then swoop down toward
you, jump and hold R1 just as its about to reach you and you will grab on.
The Colossi will then start climbing up and you wont be able to move until it
levels off.

The three vital points are on the tips of each wing and on its tail. Go for
the wing your on first then if you can go for the other side and then the
tail. You need to wait for the Colossi to stop flapping so you can run across
its wing and stab it. Wait until its wing straitens up again and run across
and do the same to the other wing. Finally attack the tail by running down its
back grabbing on if you see yourself falling off when you get to its tail stab
it to kill it.

There are no new vital points I think you’ll be glad to hear but that doesn’t
make this Colossi any easier. Do the same as you would in normal mode but
you’ll have to recharge the power bar and chances are you will need to
recharge when the Colossi Is flying side ways so you will fall off. So get
used to climbing on this Colossi.

|   Colossi VI   [WT06]   |

 / /
/_/His is one of the easier Colossi battles you have, start by running away
from the Colossi and climbing all the walls blocking your way. Now run for
the small section in front of you, where there are pillars and now turn to
face the Colossi. When the Colossi has caught up it will bend down to try and
see you, as soon as you see its eyes run and grab hold of its beard. Climb
round onto his head to attack the first vital point. (This can be very
annoying as the Colossi shakes his head a lot ) Once the symbol has gone you
now have to go to its lower back to attack this other vital point. Stab this
area to bring down the Colossi.

There is a new vital point now, you must stab the back of its left hand. Do
the other two vital points first and then either try and jump and grab onto
his hand or just jump off and go back to where you hid before. This time when
he bends over to see where you are run to his left hand and grab on, he shakes
his hand a lot but you should manage to do it with out falling off.

|   Colossi VII   [WT07]   |
\==========================/

 / /
/_/his can be a tricky Colossi you need to jump into the water and swim over
the Colossi until it notices you. (You will know when it notices you as it
will come to the surface) it comes to the surface quickly, avoid the electric
spines on its back as if your near when the discharge you will be hurt. Wait
for the tail to come and go above where it will come out of the water and hold
R1. You will grab hold of its tail now and the Colossi will start skimming the
surface, now you have to run up its back, but you must hold R1 if the part of
the body your on is about to go into the water other wise you will fall off.

When you reach the first symbol hold R1 and stab it with full power. It will
then go deep under the water and you aren’t able to hold on, so you must use
the same technique as before to climb up its body. Once all three of the
electric fins are disabled you must stab its head. Get back onto the Colossi
once more and go to its head and stab until you kill it.

No extra vitals on this Colossi but they do need to be stabbed more as it
takes less damage in hard mode, but other than that no major difference.

|   Colossi VIII   [WT08]   |

 / /
/_/his Colossi can be rather frustrating at times especially if you don’t know
what to do. You in a round tube like arena and the Colossi’s back is
electrified, so how do you kill it? Simple use the bow and arrow to shoot it
and anger it. It will then run up the wall towards you, while its doing this
run round to the next open area, when its climbed up the wall you should see
that its legs are glowing (like the feet of the second Colossi) shoot two of
its legs and it will fall onto its back in the center of the arena.

Jump from the window to its stomach, this will hurt you slightly but it wont
be to drastic. Quickly grab hold and fully charge [] to attack, you should get
two or three attacks on it before it rolls back over. You must now quickly run
back into the wall section you were in before because it will fire a poisons
gas at you that will keep hurting you while your in a certain range of it.
Keep repeating this technique until its dead.

This is painfully difficult fight in hard mode, there are no new vitals but
the amount of time you have to attack it is minimal and you will more than
likely come close to death a few times. Use the same tactics as in normal
mode to defeat it.

|   Colossi IX   [WT09]   |

 / /
/_/his is one of the most difficult you will have faced so far! You will need
Agro for this fight, what you need to do is lure the Colossi over the geysers
to get it to a position where you can climb onto it. Ride away from the
Colossi on agro so that there is a geyser between you and the colossi.

More than likely the Colossi will use its ranged attack where it goes onto its
back legs and it starts charging up a lighting kind of effect it then fires it
at you in three balls. As soon as you see this starting to happens start
galloping away and it should miss you. If not it will take off a large section
of health and knock you off Agro.

When it does go over the geyser though the water will blast it and it will
topple onto its side, this then reveals an area on its legs that you need to
shoot. Once you have shot the legs it will roll onto its side, now you have to
be quick! Run and jump and grab hold of the Colossi’s stomach and climb to the
top and start to climb onto its back but don’t go the whole way or you will
just fall of the other side.

When you are near the top side of its stomach it will start to get back up.
Once its standing you should now be able to climb onto its back safely. Now
your on its back go to its head and grab hold and stab it when its not
shaking try and get full power but if you see it going to shake stab it.

No new vital points just a hell of a lot harder to kill, use the same method
as in normal mode. If you need to recharge you grip meter move to its back
and when your ready do to its head.

|   Colossi X   [WT10]   |

 / /
/_/his colossi can be difficult if you aren’t good at using the horse and
shooting the bow and arrow at the same time. Ride agro into the sandy arena
and you will see the Colossi going through the sand gallop in front of the
Colossi and it will start to follow you now select the bow and arrow and hold
[] to attack, Agro will automatically run while your doing this,  you need to
aim for its eyes. (Holding L1 to lock on is useful here as you will now not
lose sight of the Colossi) When they appear shoot them and move out of its way
it will then crash into a wall and become stuck.

Ride over to it and press /\ to jump off Agro and climb it has two vital
points one on its lower back and one on its upper back. Once you manage to get
rid of one symbol it will escape and start going round again. Press X to call
Agro, now do the same as before to get it to crash but this time stab the
other vital.

The only thing that has changed is the fact that it will escape quicker and so
you will need keep attacking it until it dies.

|   Colossi XI   [WT11]   |

/_/his is a relatively easy fight if done properly. When you start you will be
looking at the colossi and out a big window, on the far right there is a
fallen pillar. Run to the pillar and try to avoid being hit by the Colossi as
it does a lot of damage. When you are behind the pillar climb onto it and run
and jump to where the burning tray is.

Whistle to anger the Colossi and it will ram the platform your on and it will
knock out a piece of flaming wood to fall onto the floor. Jump down and pick
it up with O then approach the Colossi but so its heading backwards out of the
big window which you were looking out of first.

Be quick when doing this as if you waste time the flames will go out and you
must relight the wood. He will fall out of the open section and break his
armour. Walk out the edge of the window and onto the level above it on the
right is a platform you can climb up.

Once there select the bow and arrow and shoot the Colossi, this will wake it
back up and it will round to you. When its close jump on its back and hold R1
and stab it. Keep doing this until its dead. I have managed to kill this
Colossi in 56 seconds (time attack mode) so this proves how quick it can be
killed.

Nothing difficult just as easy as normal mode but might need one or two extra
hits to bring it down.

|   Colossi XII   [WT12]   |
\==========================/

/_/his colossi is relatively easy to beat just make sure you stay out of the
way of its electric blaster thing. You need to swim round to the back of the
Colossi so that you can climb up onto its back. I found that if you hold R1
while trying to get to his back its slightly easier. Another thing that
doesn’t help is the fact that it is always turning to try and face you.

When you finally climb up to its back you must climb up to its head and you
can see three platforms in the water. On its head are what look like teeth
(mangled teeth but teeth none the less) hit them with the sword to make the
Colossi turn in that direction. If you hit the one in front then you will
move forward and stop turning. When you are close to a platform the Colossi
will go to turn so this is your cue to jump onto the roof of the platform.

When you land on the platform take cover behind the small round pillar in the
center, as to avoid the electric blasts it no fires at you. It will then lift
its two front legs onto the platform, run, jump and grab onto its chest. You
will now be able to stab the Colossi’s vital point. You will most likely have
to repeat this technique again to kill it.

No new vital points just a lot harder to kill and the fight will last a hell
of a lot longer than in normal mode. The only tip i can give to speed it up
is only use a fully charged attack when stabbing its vital point.

|   Colossi XIII   [WT13]   |

/_/he most easiest fight you will have had in a long time, have Agro near by
when you start this fight. With the bow and arrow aim for the white glowing
bags that are underneath the Colossi. (You’ll understand when you see it)
You need to hit all three of the bags, they will turn black and shrivel up
when you hit them.

The Colossi will then come down low to the ground and its fins will stick
in the sand. Mount Agro and try to come up along side the Colossi’s fin so
you can jump and grab on. (Might take a few times before you are able to do
it easily) when you start climbing up its fin it will take to the skies
again. You must now stab the vital points, they have a flap on them but it
will be open.

Grab hold and attack it until this vital point disappears then quickly run
DOWN the Colossi to the next vital and if you are quick enough you can get
a quick attack on it before the Colossi dives into the ground. The Colossi
dives directly into the sand and when you hit it you will get hurt but not
by much though. You now have to repeat this on the other two vital points.

No differences just longer to kill it.

/_/his Colossi requires lots of messing around before you can even get to a
point where you can hurt it, so just be patient. This Colossi will try to ram
you and if it actually hits you then you will go flying and lose a lot of
health. Across from where you start is a big pillar, that has been knocked
over, climb on it and then up onto the other platform. Follow these around
until you have to jump into a pillar with ridges in, climb to the top and shoot
the Colossi twice and both times he will charge into the pillar.

The second time it hits the pillar it will fall. Once it has fallen down climb
on top of it and take the new route now available to you by climbing on top.
Follow this new path round and do the same with the next pillar you come to.
Then there are three more pillars that need to be knocked down in this way but
they are all next to each other so it wont be to difficult.

Once it has hit over the third pillar jump up onto the high platform and onto
the next pillar. Now finally move across the new platform and onto the small
temple building and then final pillar. This pillar will crash through a wall,
in this new section there is a wall you can climb, once climbed go up onto the
rather flimsy looking balcony and shoot the Colossi it will then hit a pillar
and the rubble that fall down will break its armour revealing a furry patch
you can grab onto so you can stab its vital point. All you have to do now is
jump on its back and stab it until it dies.

/_/his is a relatively easy fight compared to what it might look like! On both
sides of you are what look like big patio stones. Stand on the one at the far
end and you will notice that you are just out of reach of the ledge its next
to.
Stand on this stone and wait for the Colossi to get to you it will then raise
its leg and as its approaching you jump out of the way, the stone you were on
has now been lifted up. Quickly climb up onto the ledge before the Colossi
moves his leg and makes the stone fall.

Go up the stairs and move away from the pillars and shoot the Colossi with the
bow and arrow. He will stamp his feet on the floor and cause stones from the
roof to fall down, climb up and go up to a bridge. DON’T go onto the bridge as
the Colossi will destroy it with his sword. Either whistle or shoot him to
anger it and get him to move close and when its close enough jump onto it.

Stab the vital point here and then move on. Climb down its left arm and there
is a dark blue vital point stab it and it will cause the Colossi to drop his
sword and reveal the other vital point. Climb as far down the colossi as you
can and then drop the rest of the way. Now run away from the Colossi and he
will raise his hand up and try and hit you with it so move out of the way and
then run to his hand and grab hold of his hand and stab it to kill the
Colossi.

One extra vital point on its chest, can be very annoying to stab as he shakes
loads which is very annoying as you have to keep climbing up the building to
try and attack again.

/____/ Absolutely hate this fight! Its so fu<kin difficult getting to the
Colossi its stupid! This is by far the hardest bosses you will fight in any
game. This Colossi cant move from it position so your safe from being stepped
on but it fires multiple electric blasts things, and if you find your self out
in the open after being hit then you WILL NOT live for much longer as it fires
with lethal accuracy!

Run up the small embankment and take cover behind the fallen down pillar to the
right there is a hole you can drop into to, so roll into it (R1+/\) to avoid
being hit. Follow this tunnel round and climb round the cliff here and enter
the other tunnel and climb up once you reach the end. (This is the hardest part
of the whole fight!) go behind the first wall, now if you just try running then
you will get hit and you will have to climb up and try again.

So move out of the way of the wall so he shoots at you but move back behind the
wall and once the blasts hit the floor start running (and praying) roll when
you are in reach of getting behind cover because it will probably fire at you
again, keep doing this until you get into the other drop down point further on.
Now your in the final tunnel you don’t have to worry about being shoot.

Move to the back and climb up the wall and up to the Colossi’s back, now climb
up and you will see a dark blue glowing area, stab here and the Colossi will
bring its hand around so now press /\ with the direction you want to jump in.
Climb onto his arm and stab the other blue glowing area and he will bring his
other arm over so now jump to this arm. Stab this hand to make the Colossi stop
turning it.

Select the bow and arrow and stand on his hand and shoot the left shoulder to
make the Colossi take you to it. (remember to hold R1 strait after the shoot)
climb onto its head and stab it until this vital disappears and it dies. Now
bask in the glory of knowing you beat the whole game, but a whole new adventure
starts when you start another game from this save file.

No difference just a LOT harder and you will probably need to take lots of
breaks to recharge your grip meter.


On completion of the game the end credits will come and once there finished
you will be propmted to save the game. Once saved you can unlock lots of
extras.

To unlock time attack mode you have to complete the game on any difficulty.
Once the end credits have passed. Choose load game and pick the file you saved
before the end credits, it will now start from the very beggining. To do time
attack mode go up to a statue of the Colossi you want to challenge and press O
to pray, a small screen will come up at the bottom which says Time Limit and
Current record. Challenge the Colossi and do it in the time limit to beat it.
This can also be done in hard mode.

When you kill a White tale lizard, its tale will fall off. Go over to it and
press O, you will then pick it up and your grip/power/breath meter will
increase by a small amount. Find more and you can even get this meter so it
takes up most of the screen. (not recomended as it can be trickey to see
properaly when your fighting a Colossi. These lizards should not be confused
with black tailed lizards, as I dont think that they give any sort of benefit
to you. They are often around the save points all around the game world.

|   Fruit Trees    [XTFT]   |

There are fruit trees in lots of places in the game world, they have a
yellow/grey fruit on. shoot the fruit with the bow to make it fall then press
O to pick it up. This gives you a small health boost and the more fruit you
eat the bigger the bar becomes. Friut trees are normally by a small oasis, so
this should make it easier for you to find them if you dont have the friut
tree map.

- Try to find and collect as many White taled lizards as possible. dont just
  rely on the increase after killing a colossi.

- Try to find as many fruit trees as possible, there fruit will increase your
  health which becomes invaliable in later fights.

- Read how to kill each Colossi before you begin fighting them, as you will
  then know what to do next.

- Agro MUST be used in some fights so dont leave behind as you may well need
  him.

- Time Attack Rewards only work in the main story mode not in Time Attack mode
