I N T R O D U C T I O N....................*INTRO _______________________________________________________________________________ Hello, and welcome to a guide for the charming game known as Rhapsody for the Nintendo DS! Some of you may be familiar with the Playstation game with the similiar name, and this game is a lot like that, but it has some changes as well that makes it seem like an entirely new game at times. Therefore, this FAQ may come in handy for you. At least, we hope so. Yes, WE, because this is the first of hopefully several joint projects between the mega awesome threetimes and the mega sexy Psycho Penguin. You may be wondering how we came to decide to write for this game. It's a long story, but basically threetimes begged Psycho Penguin saying "Oh, PP, you are so amazingly awesome and talented and we have to write for a game because GameFAQs needs your superior intellect and amazing skills" and he agreed. This is what happened. True story. I cannot tell a lie. [Yeah, right...] Anyways, this is like our billionth FAQ separately and first one together and we should have more to come if Psycho Penguin can ever stop being so bloody lazy. [RIGHT!] Enjoy! _______________________________________________________________________________ B. U S I N G T H I S G U I D E ...................*USE _______________________________________________________________________________ This guide focuses on three things: o How to find all Puppets and complete their Quests. This is the most important part of the game, and it is not always obvious where to find every puppet and how to trigger their quests, (especially if you don't explore every nook and cranny of the various locations). o Where to go: ...and how to get there. Most of the time this is clear, but sometimes there are particular requirements that must be met to open up the next area, and then of course, there are the dungeons. Despite the addition of the TOP SCREEN MAPS you won't know which path to take especially if you want to find all items and all puppets. o How to trigger the next event. This is also not always apparent, and although you can carry on exploring and fighting, you will not be able to continue with the story unless you find particular people or places. We have added a separate section on all the puppets, so you could just use this as a quick checklist if you don't require a detailed walkthrough. You can view all the maps for the game at GameFAQs.com, and we have given links to these throughout the walkthrough. _______________________________________________________________________________ C. But it just slows everything down and so is not worth bothering with, even if you normally would choose to use it. (I added this since PP refuses to acknowledge the stylus exists even when it's essential.) [What's a stylus? -PP] =============================================================================== 2. M E N U S .......................................................... *MENU =============================================================================== Rhapsody uses a pretty traditional menu system that will help you keep track of everything. ----------------- TITLE SCREEN MENU ----------------- When you first turn the game on, you'll see four options: NEW: Start a new game, obviously. LOAD: Continue from a previously saved file. ENCORE: View musicals you already viewed during your progress in the game. OBSERVATION: Get information on humans, dolls, and enemies. ------------ IN-GAME MENU ------------ Once you are in the game and open the menu, you get these options: ITEM: View and/or use the items you have collected during your journey. MAGIC/SPECIAL: View and/or use the spells and skills you have earned. Note: You can only use magic or skills that CAN be used outside of battle, mainly healing spells and skills. EQUIP: Equip a character with up to three different accessories. STATUS: View a character's HP, SP, Traits, Attack, Defense, Speed, Intelligence, Experience Gained, and Experience needed to get to next level. ORDER: Rearrange the battle order of your party. You can have up to four characters in the battle at a time. TALK: Get clues (from Kururu) on what to do next. SAVE: You can save your game at any time outside of battle or scenes. You can only make three save files TITLE: Return to the title screen without saving. =============================================================================== 3. B A T T L E S Y S T E M ........................................... *BATT =============================================================================== Rhapsody uses the innovative "random battle" system where you walk around in a dungeon and occasionally the screen will swirl around and you'll get into a fight. I think this is the first game to ever use this weird concept. (This is a JOKE!) Also, the battles are turn based, which means the characters will go in order. They are very nice to stand there and let their enemies attack them. You can have four characters in your party at once and face up to four enemies at one time. At the top of the screen, you will see the battle, and at the bottom, you will see menus. On top, you'll see the enemies HP/SP to the left, and on the right, you will find your characters' HP/SP. At the bottom, you will see three options: FIGHT -> Select character actions. ESCAPE -> Run away from the battle like a chicken wuss. AUTO -> Do what I do and let them attack on their own. OR do what I do and select various magic attacks, which will make you do more work, and the game will take you at least twice as long to beat. Twice the fun! If you choose "FIGHT", you'll get three options. ATTACK -> Do a physical attack. MAGIC/SPECIAL -> Use a special attack. ITEM -> Use an item from the item menu. It's all really simple stuff! =============================================================================== 4. C H A R A C T E R S ................................................ *CHAR =============================================================================== There are a lot of characters in this fine game. Here's a list of all the ones the game thinks are important enough to include in the observatory! O L I V I A Another competitor from the contest. But don't worry! She's not Cornet's enemy. H A M M E R Can always be found smoking a cigar. His motto is, "Simplicity is king." M O M M Y His sideburns are really long. Also tells awful jokes. He really should practice. C O R N E T Has the special power to talk to puppets. Hopefully things work out between her and the prince. P R I N C E Cornet just looooves the Prince of Marl Kingdom. They make a cute couple, don't they? E T O I L E The only child of the Rosenqueen family. What a brat! Always trying to steal Cornet's limelight... M A R J O L Y Always off chasing after some young boy. She should dress her age. Grow up, lady! M Y A O A real rascal. But if not for her jumping in front of Cornet, she would have never met the Prince! C R O W D I A Very beautiful, but a little conceited. One time she poked herself in the mouth with a rose. G A O Tries to solve everything with grim toughness, which is impressive. But she looks dumb. C H E R I E Cornet's deceased mother. She's much prettier than Cornet, right? Not that I care... M U S T A K I Loves puppets. Lives buried beneath them, actually. Sounds weird, but he's pretty nice. P O L A N S K Y A great master with a demented mind. He's... unique. Just call him "Polin", okay? G O L O N Z O Minster of Marl Castle who likes to make advances on Cornet. A real perv! Leave us alone! =============================================================================== 5. C O R N E T .........................................................*CORN =============================================================================== ---------------- CORNET'S PUPPETS ---------------- The named characters form the supporting cast or foes of Cornet. However she has up to 16 allies in the form of Dolls or Puppets. You will start the game with one and soon get another and after this it's up to you to find and recruit the rest. Some are obvious, some not, but you will need a few allies to help you fight the monsters that appear in the various dungeons. Each puppet has a dream, and you have the option to help them fulfil that dream. When completed these puppet quests will result in Cornet acquiring new elemental based skills. All the details for recruiting the puppets are given in the main walkthrough and in the Lists section, together with their quests. ------------- CORNET'S HORN ------------- Cornet has special horn skills, which raise the gauge (a line of musical notes) that you see at the top right of the screen. Keep using these skills and this will raise the gauge up to a maximum of five levels. Each level of the gauge allows her to use special attacks which are very powerful and useful for boss battles. You will only have the "Horn" to start with and the other skills are added when Cornet increases levels, but the Gauge skills can all be used from the start if you raise the gauge high enough. The Horn skills that raise the gauge are: HORN - Restores 20 HP to all members LOVE HORN - Powers up units with love MIRACLE HORN - Restores 60 HP for all members HAPPY HORN - Protects against some magic ANGEL'S HORN - Restores 150 HP for all members C O R N E T ------------------+----+-------+----------------------------------------------- SKILL | SP | TYPE | EFFECTS ------------------+----+-------+----------------------------------------------- SUGAR CANDY | 1 | Gauge | Sugar Candy attack (all) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- FLAN | 2 | Gauge | Flan attack (all) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- CAKE | 3 | Gauge | Cake attack (all) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- PANCAKE | 4 | Gauge | Pancake attacks all enemies ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- HEART | 5 | Gauge | Restores HP and SP of entire party ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- HORN | 1 | Horn | Restores 20 HP to all members (Level 1) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- LOVE HORN | 5 | Horn | Powers up units with love (Level 1) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- SWORD OATH | 25 | Doll | Critical damage to an enemy - Mustaki warriors ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- SISTER'S DESIRE | 25 | Doll | Damages all enemies (HOLY) (Terra and Sharte) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- FROG SONG | 25 | Doll | Damages all enemies (WATER) (Caroline and | | | Michael) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- KOROATTACK | 25 | Doll | Critical damage to an enemy (Koro) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- THUNDER PUNCH | 25 | Doll | Spark damage to an enemy (THUNDER) (L-Kun) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- FAMILY BREATH | 25 | Doll | Damages all enemies (WIND) (Flare) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- CHAOS | 25 | Doll | Inflicts damage (DARK) (Ledgem) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- FLAME OF HELL | 25 | Doll | Inflicts damage to all (FIRE) (Knightspawn) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- MIRACLE HORN | 4 | Horn | Restores 60 HP for all members (level 10) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- PRESSURE POINT | 6 | Skill | Heals all status ailments (level 15) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- HAPPY HORN | 7 | Horn | Protects against some magic (level 20) ------------------+----+-------+---------------------------------------------- ANGEL'S HORN | 9 | Horn | Restores 150 HP for all members (level 23) __________________|____|_______|_______________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ D. H I N T S A N D T I P S ...................*TIPS _______________________________________________________________________________ o Use my maps to help you find all chests and fastest routes in the various dungeons. o Search everywhere, not just to find hidden items but also to find some of the funniest lines in the game. o Puppets that are on stand-by will gain experience from battles as well. We can confirm that it's at a rate of 50% of the amount for the active group. o When anyone levels up they get a full heal, and you can also fully heal everyone at the church in Orange Village and at statues in every town, and in the castles. o It may be a good idea just to put almost every battle on auto, unless you want to actually have some enjoyment with the game besides winning every battle really quickly. This game is pretty easy and battles will fly by when you do this. (Don't "Auto" the bosses though!.) o Puppet quests are entirely optional. Hell, you don't even need to get a lot of them. But, they make the game interesting. And fun. And longer. o Attack power (and speed) is pretty crucial in this game, and I think it takes precedence over intelligence and defense. If you can attack the enemies and kill them before they even hit you, you won't need to worry about defense. And I barely lost any characters during battle to begin with. o It's not too hard to level up in this game, so take some time occasionally to walk around and get into those OMG SWIRLY SCREEN WHAT HAPPEN battles to get some experience points, and better skills. o Inotium is not hard to find and by the end of the game I had the maximum amount and nothing to spend them on. o Speaking of which, the game gives you plenty of healing items in chests, and from enemy drops. We didn't even use these ones, so you don't really need to buy any unless you want to. However, the Teleporter items are useful, if you want to avoid having to walk all the way out of long dungeons. o Raise Cornet's Horn Gauge and you can use her powerful Horn attacks from the very beginning of the game. o Don't forget that you can run away from battles, if too many random encounters is getting tedious, although there is no item or skill that reduces the rate of these encounters. _______________________________________________________________________________ . E. F. A. Q. S ................................*FAQS _______________________________________________________________________________ Q. How many puppets are there, and are there any secret ones? A. There are 16 puppets in total and if there are any secret ones we haven't found them yet! (Short answer - no secret puppets.) Q. Is there any way to revive dead puppets? A. Not while in battle, so be careful! However after the battle is over, any dead puppets will be revived with 1 HP. Q. What happens if Cornet dies? A. You can continue to fight even if Cornet is dead and she will be revived after the battle with 1 HP. Q. Is this the same game as the PS1 Rhapsody? A. In essence, yes, but the battle system is completely different and some of the items are different as well. Also, no loading times and a bit of a translation change. Q. Is there a New Game + or any additional content? A. No. What you see is what you get! Q. Isn't this really just a game for girls? A. (I'll let PP answer this one!) You bet your ass it is. Just kidding. I'm the one with all the testosterone and I really enjoyed this game for what it is. It's pretty fun and has a good battle system. And I am sick of guys having to think they are "manly men" by shunning things like this, but that's a whole other rant. -PP Q. This is a terrible port! None of the bonus features are here! A. That's not a question. Q. So, what happened to the bonus features? A. They're not there. Q. *more whining* A. Okay, fine. This game is a good port because the battles are more fun now. The translation is fine and the game's a lot of fun to play. Okay, the BONUS stuff is not there, and the songs are in Japanese. Whatever. Q. What about all these glitches I've heard about? A. Neither of us has had any glitches (apart from one time when the screen went white for me...). However, other players have experienced the game freezing. The best advice we can give is to save often, and since you can save anywhere, then do so, and also make more than one save file. Q. What's the maximum level in this game? A. 99 is the best level you can get to. Q. How come the soundtrack is fairly limited? A. I am going to guess the game was rushed. I don't know if it was like this in the original game or not. Q. What do you like best about the port? A. I haven't played the original, but the new battle system gets a thumbs up from me. Also, the addition of the map on THE TOP SCREEN is legendary. Q. I'm stuck! Where do I go next? A. Yes, unfortunately it is a little bit TOO easy to get lost in this game, because sometimes it does a terrible job of explaining where to go Either talk to everyone and try to get hints from them, or check out this amazing walkthrough we have posted below! Q. I'm still stuck. Help? A. Just look at the top screen. _______________________________________________________________________________ F. She has 100 Inotium, 4 Healing Candies, and 2 Heal Cocoas in her inventory, as well. ----------- WALKTHROUGH ----------- You'll start off in your bedroom and you'll watch a quick scene with your two main characters, so watch it and then you'll see the title screen. Go left out the door and watch another quick scene, this time with your grandfather. You'll get your first puppet, Sharte. She wants you to find her sister, Terra. Go to the menu, then go to "Order" and make sure to include Sharte in there. Her healing powers come in handy. Grandfather asks you to find Red Inotium in the woods, so that's the next objective. Leave the house now, and on the top screen you'll see a map with a bunch of interconnected areas. We're in a square to the northwest corner just south of the top square now. Read the mailbox and get introduced to Polin, who lives in a town called BlueCat. Check the well for some dry humor, then talk to the two kids walking around here. One is looking for a toad and one is looking for a dog. Go down to the next screen, and this is the big ass area with a bunch of smaller areas connected to it. Go into the first house and check a jar for 28 INOTIUM, then leave here and go to the southwest house now. There's nothing here but some old people that want to talk to puppets. Crazy old people. Now, go to the sign in the center that has a musical note on it, and you'll get a mini game to play. |===========| | MINI GAME | ============================================================================== | This mini game is real simple. You blow on the mic and try to keep the bar | | at the far right towards the GOOD meter. The better you do, the more | | Inotium you acquire. However, there's far easier ways to get it that don't | | make you look like a complete douche by blowing in your Nintendo DS. | ============================================================================== Moving along, there's a item shop next to the sign, to the right. Pick up four Cat's Paws as soon as you can, then give one to Cornet and three to Kururu. I know this won't happen for a while, but as soon as you can, do it. You WILL notice an increase of your battle abilities. The barrel next to the southeast house has 60 INOTIUM. Go inside the house and talk to these people. Now, go north to the next screen. Head north to the church and make note of this statue. It heals your HP and SP. There's a graveyard to the right of the church that you'll visit again later. Let's leave this town now and head to the Wonder Woods! (You'll see the helpful bright pink "NEW" lettering on the location.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- W O N D E R W O O D S ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- W O N D E R W O O D S M A P http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946831/54369 You'll watch a quick scene then get into a battle with some toads. This battle is real easy, surprise surprise. Just put it on Auto for a good time. After the simple battle, there's another scene where Cornet and Kururu will eat lunch, might to Kururu's delight. Then there's a musical scene which you can skip, but why bother? That's part of the charm of this game. And WE LOVE THE JAPANESE VOICES!!! Now we get to go left and get into some random battles along the way. The enemies are easy, don't worry. You can auto battle your way through everything here. Keep following the path along, going north and then west, and you'll get what you came for. You'll meet up with the traditional "annoying enemies you'll encounter 100 times throughout the game", who happen to be dumb ass (but cute!) cats this time. Battle! The Three Cats are Nyanko, Nyanchi, and Nyanki. (No element). Afterwards, you'll get a scene involving one of my favorite lines of the game ("If you die here, you'll get a game over, and then you'll have to watch the scene again.") and that will conclude this chapter. Get the Toy Egg from the old woman to the house to the north and west, and you'll get your second toy party member, Kid, after leaving the house. Get the MEDI CANDY from the jars next to the house east of here, then go to the house to the north, just past the bench, and join the Fan Club. This is important for later on in the game. Go to the cafe to the east now and talk to a girl in here. She will tell you fish from the Natalie River is the Prince's favorite food, so it looks like we have a new objective! Leave the cafe and you'll see a scene involving a rival of yours that you'll meet up with many times throughout the game. The Item Shop to the left of this house has a Warrior's Charm (+10 Defense) and Thinking Cap (+5 Intelligence), but I tend not to bother with those because attack power is MUCH more useful in this game. (He's right about that, though defense is helpful especially for the lower level Puppets when they first join.) Now, leave here and go back to Wonder Woods. Requirements: You must have already recruited KID before Tell will appear in the Cave. Then find him and agree to him joining. Earliest : Chapter 1 after the first visit to Mothergreen. Level : Joins at level 1. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enter the Woods and go left two screens, down one, and right one. You will meet the toy bunny here, but he will disappear for now, and you cannot recruit him yet. Then go left two screens to enter a cave. Go down one screen to get 100 INOTIUM from the chest, then go up three and right one for a HEAL COCOA. Go back left one, down one, then go left and down two screens. Head to the left to get another Puppet, this time Tell! Awesome. I use Kid and Tell together now, they are awesome and you won't really need the Sharte's healing much during battle anyways. Get the HEALING CANDY from the chest, then leave here and go back to the Woods. ------------- NATALIE RIVER ------------- Go back to where you got the Red Inotium, but go south instead of west on the last intersection. You'll fight three Bobo fish, and then four cats again, then get the fish you need. B O S S - B O B O (x3), C A T S (x4) They are water element, and although you can't see their HP, it's less than other Bobos you get to fight later in the game. I reckon around 100 HP. They use an all party water attack called Bubble Breath so keep healing everyone. There are four cats this time: two Nyankos, (guess they were cloned in the interim), Nyanchi, and Nyanki, and they are very easy, with around 30 HP a piece. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- U N D E R G R O U N D C A V E ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ITEMS: Heal Cocoa Bring the fish back to Cornet's house (room south of grandpa's area) to cook it. Then both Cornet and Kururu will be in the graveyard to the right of the church, where Kururu reveals the way to get to the Underground Cave. This is a pretty linear path with some more simple battles. Go right at the intersection for a HEAL COCOA, then left two screens and up one. There's another easy battle here, with two Jelly Bombs and one BoneBoy. The slimes can do Explosion, which targets everyone, so take them out first. ----------- MARL CASTLE ----------- Hilarious scenes have approached. Command? Win the easy battle again. End of chapter now. NOTE: If you are so inclined, you can now take the Underground Path from Orange Village direct to the Castle. There is a doorway to the right of the bathroom, which leads to the left hallway on Floor 1 of the Castle. In the next chapter you cannot enter this area of the Castle, since some crazy girls won't let any rival see the Prince. In fact there is only one man to talk to, so it's hardly worth the effort. =============================================================================== 02. C H A P T E R T W O .................................................R02 =============================================================================== "CONTEST RHAPSODY" PUPPETS: L-KUN You start off in your house again, so go downstairs and talk to grandpa. He'll tell you there is a newsletter from the fan club you joined in the mailbox outside, so go outside and check it out. You'll be asked to join a contest in Mothergreen, so that's our next objective, but first, let's check out the Ancient Forest now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A N C I E N T F O R E S T ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A N C I E N T F O R E S T M A P http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946831/54288 ITEMS: Medi Candy, Medi Cocoa, Medi Cocoa, 800 Inotium, Energy Cocoa, Energy Candy PUPPET QUEST Return here later when you have all three EGG brothers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BILLY, KID AND TELL QUEST Location : Ancient Forest, Floor B3 Requirements: Talk to the Dressmaker in Mothergreen, and he will tell you that his assistant has been cursed by eating an Egg. Then go to the Ancient Forest and defeat the Chimera on floor B3. You don't have to have all three Egg guys in the active party to trigger the battle, just talk to the Chimera. Earliest : As soon as you have recruited all three Egg brothers. Skill : Sword Oath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT! For those of you who are trying to record all enemies in your Observation Menu, then this is the only location where you can be sure of finding the Mini Thunder. BUT ONLY BEFORE BURG'S RESTAURANT OPENS. In other words, do as PP suggests, and go here now! He's been found on Floor B3, and all thanks to Alfieri x, who recorded this sighting. This is an optional dungeon to the best of my knowledge, but I am going to include it just for the hell of it. The map on the first floor shows quite a few rooms, and you start off near the bottom. If you go down three screens, it's just a dead end (get used to them in this game), so instead you have three ways go to. Going left and up a few screens takes you to stairs, as does right and up a few screens. Going straight up a few screens gets you a MEDI CANDY. Then go back to where you started and head right and up a few screens (going left leads to the next floor with a bunch of dead ends). You'll be on the next floor with three blocks of rooms. You are on the right side of these three blocks. The middle block is all dead ends so don't worry about those. Instead, go right and up for a MEDI COCOA, then go back to where you started and head down two screens, then down the stairs. Go down a few screens until you are at another four way intersection. Do NOT step on the teleporter. Going left and down two screens takes you to stairs, as does going right and down two screens. Hell, so does straight down! They all lead to stairs! What shall we do? Let's try going straight down a couple of screens and down those stairs. You're in the left block of those three blocks of rooms now. Go down then right at the intersection and down for a MEDI COCOA. That's all there is to do here, so let's head back up and back to that four way intersection on the previous floor. Let's try going left and down two screens to those stairs now. You're in the middle block of those three blocks of rooms now. Going all the way down at the intersection leads to a dead end, going left and up leads to a dead end, and going right and up leads to a.. dead end. Hmph. Well, at least we're getting more Inotium with all these random battles. Okay, let's head BACK to that damned intersection again and go right this time. Go down these stairs you find. You'll be in the right block of the three blocks of rooms now. Go up two screens for another four-way intersection. Joy. These dungeon designs sure are INSPIRED, huh? Right and up leads to an awesome 800 INOTIUM, left and up doesn't lead to anything, and neither does up, so let's head back to the intersection on the previous floor. NOW, we can finally step on that damned teleporter. MOVING ON UP IN THE WORLD!! (Also, Microsoft Word 2004 does not think teleporter is a word.) Now, we are in a big old maze. Going down and following the path does not lead to anything, so that's one path eliminated. (NOTE: this is the route to the Boss for the EGG quest if you return here later.) Instead, go up and follow the path to get an ENERGY COCOA from the chest. Go back to the intersection and go right and follow the path to get to more stairs. In this area, head to the intersection and head left and down for an ENERGY CANDY. That's all there is to do here, so let's leave here now. Head back to Orange Village and heal in the statue at the church, buy as many Cat's Paws as you can and equip everyone with them. That's part of the reason I had you go to Ancient Forest. NOTE: You could leave all this until later on and just make one visit for the items and the Egg Quest. B O S S - C H I M E R A This is a Fire bird and it uses single person attacks of Fire Breeze and Blast. It can also heal itself with Fire Heal. You get 76 Experience and 128 Inotium. A fortune! After the battle the three Egg brothers will say that they want to stay in this underground room for very strange reasons to do with time. Why destroy the Chimera in the first place? I don't know, but anyway after all this trouble you don't even get a new skill for Cornet. If you want to see what they turned into then leave the room and walk back in again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M O T H E R G R E E N ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Mothergreen, go into the house in the northwest corner of the town and say you are a participant in the contest. After the scene, go south into the dress shop and talk to the old man. He'll speak of an old theater in the Wonder Woods that may have a dress, so it's time to go there again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- W O N D E R W O O D S ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PUPPET: L - KUN ITEMS : Medi Cocoa, Antidote Chips, A mouse that won't help you get through the game, Heal Cocoa. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- L - K U N Location : Burg's Restaurant, at the far side of Wonder Woods. Requirements: Go to Mothergreen and enter the the house above the bench. Talk to the two girls at the head of the queue and enter the contest. After a scene then go to the dress shop and talk to the dressmaker who will tell you about a 'theatre' in Wonder Woods. Head for the top left room and Kururu will find the route to the Restaurant. After making your way through the building and defeating the boss there will be an opening to another room where L-Kun awaits. Earliest : Chapter 2 Level : Joins at level 5. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow the path along as usual, and at the last screen, you'll stumble upon the theater the old man was talking about. Choose any door, but in case you wondered about the enemies, the left door has the hardest, and the top one the easiest. In each room, you will have a fight followed by needing to read the sign to get to the next room. Since you have everyone with Cat's Paws now, I assume, putting the battles on Auto is even easier. The enemies are different for each door, but they are all easy enough. At the end, you'll see another quick scene, followed by a battle with a chef and two Nyanko cats. B O S S - B U R G Another easy ass battle, although Burg has a lot more HP than the cats. He can do an attack called Turtle Press which hits everyone for around 20-30 HP damage, and his single person attack, Shish Kebob, will hurt one character for around 40 HP. You get 120 experience and 76 Inotium. After you finish them off, get a MEDI COCOA from the barrels, and ANTIDOTE CHIPS from the jar. Check the barrels to the north of the jar for a line so hilarious threetimes currently has it as her sig. After doing that, go into the room that was exposed and you'll get another puppet, L-Kun, which Cornet chooses to wear to the contest. Go back into the room to get a HEAL COCOA from the rubble, then return to Mothergreen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M O T H E R G R E E N ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go straight north to the castle, then talk to the soldiers and tell them you are a contestant. Go up the stairs, then go right three screens to watch a scene. After the scene, go into the door on the right and you'll see a scene with Etoile and her father. Leave this room, then head to the center room, and the first round of the contest will begin. After the first round is over, Kururu and Cornet will get in a fight and Kururu will fly off. Leave the room and there will be another scene with Etoile and her father. Go up to the waiting room, and the second round of the contest will begin. Watch the scene, including an easy ass battle, then another scene, this time a flashback. Leave the room and go into the room to the right, as always, for another scene with Etoile. Go back to the waiting room for more scenes. You can't win the battle with her, unfortunately, in the next round, but it does not really matter. More scenes will follow as Cornet realizes how much she needs Kururu. I guess it's a valuable life lesson or something. We all need people to depend on and there's no shame in admitting that. The final round will be a singing contest between Etoile and Cornet. Both of them blow the judges away, and of course they both win. That's lame. After another funny scene, that's the end of the chapter! =============================================================================== 03. C H A P T E R T H R E E .............................................R03 =============================================================================== "DESTINATION OF HAPPINESS" ITEMS: Holy Charm QUEST: L-KUN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- L-KUN Location : Marl Castle after the contest. Requirements: Automatic as part of the story Earliest : Chapter 3 Skill : Thunder Punch ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is another pretty short chapter and nothing much happens. You'll start off in your bedroom, as always, so go out of the house and check the mailbox again. Hey wait, where is Kururu? She is in the party but not part of the active battle group, so you better fix that post haste. She is a valuable party member, and while I am sure you can beat the game without her, I wouldn't really try. (Hmm, that's an interesting idea.. trying to beat the game with as few characters as possible. I bet I could do it with two.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M O T H E R G R E E N ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways, go back to Mothergreen Castle now, and go up to watch a scene. When that's over with, go up the stairs into the main room of the castle, and watch another bloody scene. After this, you get L-Kun's quest fulfilled and he leaves you with his puppet and his special skill: Thunder Punch. There is now a battle with that nasty man again (Golonzo) - or at least with his minions, a bear and two pirates. Easy. Prince comes along to sack him (Heehee) There will be some more scenes now, so just sit back and watch them. Things are about to get mighty interesting as you find out how big of a ***** Marjoly really is. [Tsk, tsk. More like, how big of a klutz.] Eventually, you get the HOLY CHARM from the Prince and then there is a battle with some cats. After this head right and up through the main door into the ballroom again. Marjoly has come to pay back the harrassment by the prince (when he rescued Cornet from Myao). Only she falls in lust for the prince as soon as she sees him. She zaps him to keep him quiet for now and he turns to stone by mistake. Now, there is a battle. Just stick it on auto since you can't win. [And even if you COULD win, you can stick it on auto! AUTO EVERYTHING!! MUAHAHA!!] Marjoly and crew leave taking the petrified prince. And that's the end of the chapter. Seriously. Told you it was short. The good news is, the game's about to really pick up speed now. =============================================================================== 04. LOCATIONS: BLUECAT, CAT'S EYE MINE, TOWER OF WISDOM, CAPE HOPE. PUPPETS: KORO, TERRA, LEDGEM, DUKE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E N R O U T E T O B L U E C A T ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This chapter starts back home in Orange Village and Cornet decides to set out to rescue the prince. Grandpa says to go to the Tower of Wisdom in BlueCat, and take a ship from Mothergreen to get there. The person in Orange Village that hides to the left of the entrance will also tell you about this boat. Go to Mothergreen and into the first house at the far right of the town and speak to the large man there. He's the captain but he won't leave cos of his daughter. She won't eat and she likes toad. Agree to help. Leave the captain's house to be met by a man who tells about toads from the Natalie River. (He's the one who is the daughter's boyfriend as you'll find out if you speak to him before entering the house.) Okay back to the woods and the river. The enemies are stronger now, with some greeny ones that might drop a Teleporter and bears. Head to the river and fight a couple of battles until you fight some frogs/toads and get a toad. This will trigger a scene with the cats again who want the toads for a Mr Burg BBQ. Fight three easy cats and return to town and give the toad to the captain. He tells you to cook it. Leave. Then the boyfriend outside the house says she likes the toad dish from the restaurant on the lake. That's the one to the upper right of town. Chat to the customers to find that Burg's chef is now working here and he makes great toad dishes. However, despite the fact he is working there you have got to walk all the way back to Burg's to find him. Enter the main kitchen at the back for a scene and battle (He's planning world domination...like you do if you're a chef.) B O S S - B U R G He's with three cats again. This is easier than last time since you'll be higher levels and with more spells. Take them all out and they all leave, and Cornet gets the meal he was making on the hob. TOAD BBQ. You can't use the teleporter inside here, though you can in Wonder Woods if you want a quick exit to the world map. Return to Mothergreen for a scripted chat with the boyfriend and all is well, they make up and the captain will take you to Blue Cat. Talk to the captain again when you are ready, and you will leave Mothergreen and see BlueCat now on your world map. (There is no actual ship or sea journey involved.) STORY POINT There will be a scene with Marjoly...who can't undo her spell on the prince. (Crowdia finds the solution - a kiss of one who truly loves him, but of course that's not really true of Marjoly - and it must be a maiden.) So she is sent off to find an alternative. PUPPET - KORO KORO IS DEAD! After this I went back to Orange to discover that Koro is dead. Now you can recruit him from his grave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K O R O Location : Orange Village Requirements: Alfred is the boy with a dog, called Koro and you can chat to them both early on. They are found close to Cornet's house and in the house to the left of the shop. After some time when you visit the house you will be told that Koro is dead. When you hear this news go to the church and his grave is just outside the entrance to the graveyard. Investigate this small cross and he will join the party. You'll start off with two directions to go in: right and up. Right leads you to an eventual dead end, so go up, and at the next intersection, head left and down for some stairs. Head straight up for 230 INOTIUM, then go back to the previous floor, then head right and up at the next two intersections. Now, go all the way up, right, and then left at the intersection for an ENERGY CANDY. Go back to the previous split, and head up this time. Go up for a MEDI CANDY, then back down and right this time. Go up, and you will see stairs, which take you to the next area. At the first intersection you see, go down and follow the path to get a HEALING BALL from the chest, then head back to the intersection and go right this time, continuing along the path until you get to the next set of stairs. Follow the path along, and you'll meet up with a boss fight soon enough, if you have Sharte in your active party. Earliest : Once you have found the Toad BBQ in Burg's Restaurant for the captain's daughter (in Mothergreen at the start of chapter 4), the captain will take you to BlueCat. From here you can find the Tower. However you also need the Cat's Eye, found in the Cat's Eye Mine to open the door to the Tower. To initiate these comments, "talk" to the pale large doll in the Sage's room at the top of the Tower of Wisdom, and then find Ledgem in the Wonder Woods and he will join. Earliest : After reaching the top of the Tower of Wisdom in Chapter 4, and before finding any of the Stones. Level : Joins at level 16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After getting the Cat's Eye go back to the Tower of Wisdom, and, well, use it in the convenient hole. This is the first somewhat confusing dungeon of the game. Thankfully, you have me around to guide you through it! It won't be too bad, I promise. ;) ([Or just check out my awesome map!] You start off at a three way intersection. Going up just leads you to a teleporter, which you cannot access at the moment. Going left and right will take you to stairs. Let's take the path to the right, first, and go up the stairs. There's another set of stairs on the next floor, as well. The path on the next floor will eventually lead to a set of stairs. At this intersection, go right and take that path to get to a room with the puppet DUKE in it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO FIND DUKE: STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS! (by popular demand: the foolproof guide) Here are more details for those of you who can't access the map FAQ link, who are directionally challenged, can't follow PP's directions, or forgot to look at the TOP SCREEN! First of all, you must be able to access the Tower of Wisdom. To do this, you must be able to enter BlueCat. Then you have to find the Cat's Eye at the Cat's Eye mine. This item opens the door to the tower. Then, you've got to find your way to Floor 4 where Duke is waiting. And, as always, look at the top screen! Floor 1. Enter the tower and turn right. Go through one room and climb the stairs in the next room. Floor 2. From the room where you arrive, walk down the screen, to the next room and climb the stairs up to the next floor. Floor 3 Follow the path up the screen, through three empty rooms, until you reach the last room where there are stairs leading up. Floor 4. From the stairs, walk right, through one empty room and then go up the stairs in the next room. (If you walk in the other direction, this takes you through more rooms and you won't be able to reach Duke.) Floor 5. Walk down the screen to the adjoining room, and there is a set a stairs leading DOWN. Take these back down to floor 4. Floor 4 (Duke's hideaway section!) Walk left from the room with stairs and you'll find Duke in the next room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B O S S - D U K E Find Duke in a room on Floor 4 and fight him. He can use the skill Excalibur which targets everyone and Leveatein which can inflict well over 200 HP damage to one. Justice does less damage to one though his physical attack is pretty powerful too, so keep healed. Kill him and he will join you. He's a cool fighter. Now, return to the previous floor and head down at the intersection now. On the next floor, head all the way left and all the way up to get a HEALING CANDY from the treasure chest, then return down, and right, then go up at the path this time to get to the next floor. Go straight down to the next floor, then take either path to get to the teleporter. Step onto the right hand circle on the floor to be taken to a Polansky's room. Watch the scene here. You will exit the tower, but go back up using the now active teleporter and speak to the puppet there, just to the right of the door, which will allow you to recruit LEDGEM in the Wonder Woods. (The Netherworld is mentioned too). There is then a scene with Marjoly whose cats have overheard the plan, and then a song. Cornet's task is now set: Find FIVE HEART STONES! You must complete the Fire Stone section to unlock the Suspension Bridge which gives access to the Wind Stone and Thunder Stone locations, and complete the Water Stone section in order to reach the location of the Earth Stone. Other than that you can do them in any order that you like! Recommended Order: Fire Stone, Water Stone, Earth Stone, Thunder Stone, Wind Stone. Walk all the way to the final room on Floor 4 where Cornet will take the Egg. After some events you will be back outside and Flare will join the party if you agree. Earliest : Chapter 5 Level : Joins at level 15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLARE QUEST Location : Salsa Volcano Requirements: Flare must be in the active party when you enter the long room on Floor 4. There are three consecutive battles to win. Some people seem to have trouble with triggering this quest. Don't know why. Earliest : As soon as you recruit Flare you can return to the volcano, but you have to talk to the inhabitants of RedHot AGAIN, first. Skill : Family Breath IMPORTANT!! This quest is NOT level dependent! PP did it with Flare at level 18, and immediately after recruiting him/her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make your way to Floor 4 of the Volcano by taking the left path from the entrance to find the stairs, and then following the only path through the next two floors. When you enter the larger room on Floor 4, there will be a scene and a battle with a flying dragon and three red birds. B O S S - D R A G I B The dragon can use Wind Breath with will damage everyone for around 70 HP. Keep healed and use any attacks. [Or you can put it on auto and get a snack. I recommend potato chips. -PP] Although you can enter the last room and see the Egg, you cannot do anything with it, so leave the Volcano (just use a Teleport for a fast exit) and return to Redhot. Talk to the people wandering around town and you discover they have formed a Dragon killing militia and have headed off to the Volcano. Do the same and you'll find them all in that final room. (On the way to here, raise Cornet's horn gauge and this will make things easier for the next boss battle.) After some chat, one of the villagers will give Cornet the FIRE STONE and leave. Now there is a scene where Cornet will take the Egg. Leave the room as the Volcano begins to erupt, only to meet up with one of Marjoly's henchwomen: Crowdia. B O S S - C R O W D I A This is a harder battle and there are two dragons as well as Crowdia to contend with, however with a decent horn gauge Cake or Pancake attack from Cornet you won't have much trouble. After the battle Crowdia will kindly come to the rescue and deposit you back at the entrance where finally you can recruit Flare. Return to RedHot and enter the first house on the left and you can now get the instructions for opening the Suspension Bridge from the boy. Return to the bridge and the soldier will have moved away from the doorway to the bridge house allowing you access at last!. =============================================================================== B. W A T E R S T O N E .................................................R05B BLUECAT UNDERGROUND and PIRATE SHIP =============================================================================== HOW TO GET THERE You will already have access to BlueCat from the previous chapter and the Underground Path is found behind the boxes, in the top right corner of the empty house next to the shop. Before heading there first visit the bar, inside the house to the far right (up the steps). Once there talk to the regulars if you like for more background on the story of the Pirate Ship, but your target people are the two women sitting at the table to the right of the entrance. Agree to help them, and you will be given a name to tell the guard. Then enter the Underground tunnel, and walk straight up, ignoring the side passages as there is nothing to find. Speak to the guard and you will then be on board the ship. BE WARNED: this is a one-time only visit and after you enter you cannot leave, and once you leave, you cannot return! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B L U E C A T U N D E R G R O U N D A N D P I R A T E S H I P ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B L U E C A T U N D E R G R O U N D A N D P I R A T E S H I P M A P http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946831/54370 PIRATE SHIP ITEMS Floor B1 - Healing Candy - top right room, cupboard. 154 Inotium - 2nd right room, boxes 671 Inotium - 3rd right room, cupboard Medi Cocoa - 2nd left room, cupboard Floor B2 - Medi Cocoa - left room, box, 321 inotium - right room, cupboard Healing Ball - barrels in hallway 278 Inotium - top room, BARREL Elixir Candy - top room, shelf Healing Candy - top room, jar in top left corner GHOST SHIP TREASURE CHESTS Floor B1 - Healing Candy - top right room Para Ball - third right room Fighter's Charm - top left room Antidote Chips - second left room Medi Candy - third left room Floor B2 - Medi Candy - left room Heal Cocoa - top right room ITEMS Floor B1 - Energy Candy - Gao's room (top left) Sanity Gummi (box) - top right room 212 Inotium - (box) third right room Floor B2 - Energy Candy - table, left hand room 96 Inotium - box, top right hand room Elixir Candy - box, right hand room Medi Cocoa - in the shelf top left corner of captain's room. You can only enter this room without triggering a battle IF you don't read the Journal. REPEATED WARNING! This is a one-time-only visit, so make sure to get everything while you're here, since you cannot return, and that includes the rare enemy: Ariel. There is nothing to find on the deck, so climb down the hatch and you will be on Floor B1. There are some items to be found in the various cabins, though none of them are in treasure chests. Your goal is to head for the room to the right of the stairs (facing them), where you will find a desk with a Diary. Read this and then go down the corridor, and descend to the next floor B2. Walk up the corridor, and enter the room at the far end. There will be a scene, and after that, you will be back in the room that had the Diary, only now everything has changed: this is the REAL pirate ship!. If you want to find an extra item in the Captain's Room, and maybe an additional enemy, then visit there BEFORE reading the Journal. Otherwise, start by checking out the desk and read the journal. When you're done with that you will receive the Rare Ring. Now explore everywhere getting the items from the treasure chests and fighting battles as you go. You can heal up at the useful statue next to the Diary room. Note that if you enter the room opposite the Diary Room there will be a scene with Gao. Check out the box in the middle right room on B1F for a great line! When you have collected everything head back downstairs. There are two chests here in the first room to the left and one in the second room to the right. Save your game BEFORE entering the last room. Finally enter the Captain's room again for another scene and a battle with "Painting". B O S S - P A I N T I N G This is tough one because the Painting uses a whole range of nasty attacks including Mega Poison, Mega Charm, and Mega Confuse, as well as Instant Death. The pirates use Liquid Flame which also hits everyone and can inflict around 50-60 HP damage, depending on levels and equipment. Mega Charm is dangerous because your team can start hitting each other. It's important to heal every round and recover from Charm using a Sanity Gummi. And of course, Instant Death is pretty devastating if it works, though fortunately it often won't. Although you can take out the three pirates easily enough with a powerful horn attack and magic from the rest of your team, there is a good chance that someone will be hit with Instant Death from the Painting. The first time I fought this battle it was Cornet who died on the first round, but being stubborn I just carried on and won in the end, though it took a while without her. After defeating him you are back on the "real" ship and the captain will give you the WaterStone. You can search the rooms again if you think you might have missed anything though of course the chests are not there. When you are ready save your game again and then go back up on deck for another boss battle, this time with Gao. B O S S - G A O She can do Flame Kick on one which inflicts over 100 HP damage and Flame GigaKick on everyone for around 70 HP. But other than that she is easy enough to defeat, although she is joined by three Beasts. One or two all person magic attacks will take them all out. You will get 770 Inotium, and 438 experience. =============================================================================== C. Take a detour to recruit the third Mustaki Warrior, Albatross, who is found in the left room on the first floor. As usual, you must defeat him and ask him to join. He will use fire attacks: Demon Fire targets everyone, and Fairy Fire one person. Elven Fire is a powerful fire attack on all. You need to keep healed and ideally have speed increasing accessories so you can heal before he attacks. Poison will work well on him. We've been told (thanks siara!) that if you use three different status effect spells on him in a row, this might cause your game to freeze. It didn't happen in my game, but making a save before this fight, or avoiding lots of status spells, might be wise. You receive 609 experience (varies a bit) and no Inotium, but you do get another puppet! Fight a boss in the last room, and you get the EarthStone. B O S S - C E N T A U R This boss is a strange shaped creature with a horse type body. He is accompanied by two other VenomToads, and beware getting poisoned by their Poison Punch attacks. This is when it's a good idea to have lots of Antidote Balls (to heal everyone) or Sharte on your team. He can use a powerful attack called G.Laser which inflicts damage of around 150 HP to all, and an oddly named Turtle Sting attack which is likely to send everyone to sleep. Use your usual all magic attacks and heal from poison with Cornet's Horn, Sharte's skills or items. All these enemies are water based, if that matters. You will receive 271 Inotium and around 569 (more or less) experience. After defeating the boss return to the Castle, and walk through to the main hall for a scene. Finally you will receive the Earthstone, and then are free to leave. NOTE: Portgama is back at home in Kerokero if you want to speak with him again. The Worm can inflict poison and sleep on everyone, as well as healing itself. I'd go for broke in this battle and use Cornet's best Pancake attack, for which you need the gauge to be at level 4. You can use a sleep attack on the Queen Bees, which helps a lot if you are having any trouble with this battle, and you can continue to attack them while they snooze. Once the Queen Bees are gone it's easy. You get a reward of 630 experience and 390 Inotium. Now return to the train. Walk all the way through to the left and, after a scene, you can leave the train. You emerge at the entrance to the Inotium Mines. NOTE: There is an alternative entrance to the rest of the Oasis Underground at the top right of the train exit room, so you can now go back and pick up the rest of the items. You can also start from the mine entrance in Oasis and this time you can explore without interruptions. You can even head back into the train and Inside the Worm again if you missed anything. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I N O T I U M M I N E ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I N O T I U M M I N E M A P http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946831/54327 ITEMS Floor 1 - Energy Candy Floor 1 - 2300 Inotium Floor 1 - Warrior's Charm Floor B1 - 2300 Inotium Make your way to Floor 2 to find a large room with lots of Inotium. Cornet has the option to take it all or not. If you choose to take it, you must fight three enemies for the Windstone. If you choose to leave it, then you simply get the Windstone and there is no battle. Whichever you decide you don't get any extra Inotium, although you will earn a little if you decide to fight. B O S S - C H I M E R A AND C O C K A T R I C E. (x2) These are just ordinary enemies so nothing special, but their HP and SP is indicated with question marks, so they are counted as boss enemies. Chimera is Fire element and the Cockatrices Earth if that makes any difference to you! Reward: 233 Experience and 300 Inotium. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- T O W E R O F W I S D O M ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After obtaining all the stones return to the top of the Tower of Wisdom to talk to Sage Polansky. This triggers the next chapter. However, before you can enter, there is a battle with Myao and her three cats. You can't damage them at all so just put the battle on auto until they have won. After some events, enter the Tower and take the teleporter up to Polanksy's room. This is the point of no return for some of the puppet recruitment and quests, and you will lose someone from your party. Once you enter Polanskys' room, you are taken directly to chapter six. Q U E S T S NOTE If you haven't yet recruited all the puppets this might be a good time to go after any that are missing since it appears that after the end of the next chapter some of them may no longer be available, and that includes some of the quests. This especially seems to be the case with Koro and Flare, though the ones that are level dependent can probably be left until later. Anyhow here are the remaining ones. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KNIGHTSPAWN Location : Anywhere Requirements: Must be in the active party and at around level 32. This will trigger a battle with him. Defeat him to complete the Quest. However this may not be level related: (CiprianoMcDohl on GameFAQs message boards suggested that it's related to kills, and that you must kill 100 enemies - not yet confirmed.) Earliest : Depends on when you recruited him and how much you use him. Skill : Flames of Hell ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MICHAEL AND CAROLINE Location : Anywhere Requirements: Both of them must be in the active party and both must be at level 30 to trigger the quest. Earliest : As soon as the second one (either of them) reaches level 30 Skill : Frog Song ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TERRA AND SHARTE Location : Anywhere Requirements: Both of them must be in the active party. Not sure about the level but it happened at level 32 in my game. Earliest : As soon as they both obtain all their skills. C H A P T E R S I X .................................................R06 =============================================================================== "MOTHER'S HEART AND WILL" ITEMS: Dark Key Cornet is now in the past and back in Orange Village. The shop is open as usual, but the main aim is to explore and find Cherie inside the church. Then, leave the church to find young Etoile in the graveyard. Return to Cornet's house and speak to Cherie who will run off. Go back to the graveyard (you can heal up in the church if necessary), and follow her down into the Underground Passage. When you walk up a couple of rooms you can see the bridge to the right. Walk across it and you will enter a large room for the final scenes of this chapter. (The doorway to the bathroom in the Castle is not open so don't bother exploring further.) There will be a battle with the Ancient Weapon, and Etoile joins in this battle. This is the red and weaker version, but he still has some powerful attacks. The AW will use a Giga Lightning attack that targets one, or Omega Storm on everyone. He is accompanied by a Sniper and Knight which are both Thunder element. You will get 568 Inotium for winning this battle and around 500 experience points depending on level. After the battle the dream sequence ends. At the end of the events in this chapter you will be back with Sage Polansky and you get the DARK KEY to the Netherworld. Kururu leaves the party at this point and she never returns to the active party. =============================================================================== 07. Requirements: You must have access to the Netherworld. He does not have to be in the active party. Simply get to Floor B11 and walk up to trigger the quest. Earliest : At the start of chapter 7. Skill : Chaos ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALBATROSS, DUKE AND CHIBA - the three Mustaki warriors Location : Netherworld Floor B11, final room. (Mothergreen graveyard, Underground Path) Requirements: All three must be in the active party to trigger the battle with the Ancient Weapon boss. Earliest : Chapter 7 Skill : Sword Oath ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enemies drop good equipment in the Netherworld, including the Warriors' Charm. Return to Orange Village and follow the Underground Path in the graveyard. Turn right again at the bridge, exactly as in the dream, and you will be inside a large dungeon. Make you way down to the bottom floor (11), picking up the items along the way. On Floor B11 you can take the DARKSTONE from the chest in the first left room, and when you walk forwards to the second room in the centre there will be a scene with Ledgem which completes his Quest. (He does not have to be in the active party for this to occur.) There is a teleporter in the right hand room which takes you back to Floor B1, but if you take this and want to return to B11 you will have to walk all the way. Put Albatross, Duke and Chiba in your active party and head into the last room on Floor B11 and you will trigger a battle with the Ancient Weapon. If you don't have all three in the group then nothing will happen! After winning the battle you will have completed the Mustaki Warriors Quest and receive another skill for Cornet. B O S S - A N C I E N T W E A P O N He has three Mustaki Warriors with him. They are all DARK element and you should aim to take out the warriors first using all enemy magic attacks. L-Kun's Magical Wall can work wonders to reduce or even completely negate the AW's powerful magic attacks. Be careful as OmegaStorm from the AW can even take out Cornet if you have not prepared with decent defensive equipment and levels of over 45 for her at least. The warriors need to be at around level 35 for a sure win. Heal every round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C A P E O F H O P E ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you have all the stones head to the Cape of Hope and take each path in turn. Each one will have a coloured stone in the middle of the path. Pick this up and there is a battle with each elemental dragon in turn. (You get 246 Inotium for each one, apart from the WhiteDragon with gives 115) plus some experience.) After the battle walk forwards and you will be prompted to place the stone on the altar. When all five dragons have been defeated and all five stones placed, return to the central platform and walk forwards. This is now a teleporter direct to the gates of Beauty Castle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B E A U T Y C A S T L E ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B E A U T Y C A S T L E M A P http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/946831/54347 ITEMS F2 - Elixir Candy F2 - Elixir Cocoa F3 - Genius Cap F3 - Energy Candy F3 - 5000 Inotium F4 - Dragon's Claw You can use this teleporter to return to the Cape of Hope whenever you want if you need more equipment or wish to complete more Quests. Make your way to Floor 4 and once you enter the last centre room events will proceed, so if you are in any doubt make sure to save your game and that everyone is at full health before entering the final room. First you must fight Marjoly and her cronies, and this is a tough battle to win at low levels. If you want an easy time of it then you need to have Cornet at the minimum between level 45-50, and choose three Puppets with levels of around 30-35. L-Kun is useful for his Miracle Wall defense and his high HP, and Sharte for her healing skills. Make sure that Cornet has her horn gauge at level 4 or 5 and that everyone has the best defensive and attacking accessories. B O S S - M A R J O L Y You are now facing all Marjoly's little band. That's Myao, Gao and Crowdia as well as Marjoly herself. Concentrate on the cronies one at a time, although it won't hurt to use attacks that target everyone. None of them have any elemental weakness or strength so use whatever attacks you like. I started with Love Horn to boost everyone and then used Pancake with Cornet on the second round. HEAL EVERY ROUND. Sonic Punch hurts everyone, Omega Earth (from Marjoly) and Omega Storm does too. Giga Flame and Giga Tornado won't do much damage though they also target everyone. Giga Meteor does more damage though. I took out Gao first and then Myao was next. Finally go for Marjoly, and after using mostly all person attacks she should go down fairly easily. Fortunately none of them are clever enough to think of healing each other. You'll be rewarded with 1548 experience and 2600 Inotium. There is a scene now, and after that you regain control of Cornet, and you must fight the Ancient Weapon. You can heal the party by checking the Petrified Prince before this battle, save your game, change party members, chat to everyone and even leave the area. In fact it's a good idea to go and fight a battle or two to raise Cornet's gauge again before tackling the AW. ***** POINT OF NO RETURN ***** Once you start the battle with the AW this will lead to the final events of the game. To start the battle talk to Golonzo. B O S S - A N C I E N T W E A P O N - ROUND ONE He is accompanied by the three Mustaki clones again: Shogun, General, and S. Shooter, so in effect this is the same battle as the one you have already fought in the Underground area while in the dream of the past. GigaLightning attacks one, from the AW, and he will use GigaStorm which damages everyone. His physical attack will hurt for around 50-100 HP depending on levels and equipment. Do the usual thing of protecting the party or powering up with Love Horn and you can probably kill all the clones in the first round. In fact with levels of 50 for Cornet and 35+ for the team, you will win this battle within two or three rounds. Make sure to replenish SP if you need to, especially for Sharte, and don't worry about using up your Elixir Balls, which will heal everyone's HP to the maximum. Check that everyone is at full health before the end of the battle and don't use up all your SP, because this is the starter battle before the main meal! You get a reward of Experience 603, and Inotium 709, which you won't be able to spend! Now there is a scene, and the AW powers up! Yep, you didn't think you would get off that easily for a final boss! B O S S - T. W E A P O N - ROUND TWO This time Etoile joins in the fight. And the good news is that you will be at full health only if you made sure to heal before the end of the previous fight. The enemies all have a gold star for their element, which is DARK. The three support fighters are D. Knight, Ego and S.Knight. G LASER from the AW will hurt everyone for anything up to around 200 HP. It can use MegaPoison attack, and even it's ordinary physical attack will inflict over 200 HP damage. Giga Lightning is the same as before, an attack against one, and this time the AW can heal as well. I used Miracle Wall again and kept Sharte on healing duty. Etoile will do her "Ho ho ho" fan attack on all for around 20 HP damage to them, which isn't much, but every little helps. Start with all magic attacks to take out the three Mustaki warriors who are better defended this time. Cornet will be able to go first if she is over level 50, but the others may well be slower than the enemies so be careful to heal. When the AW starts to heal itself you know that the battle is nearly over. (By the way Thunder punch from Cornet is very effective on the AW.) Best battle music in the game as well. More experience as a reward this time: 1518 points, and lots of Inotium: 1703. (Cornet was level 54, Albatross 39, L-Kun 39, Sharte 39 for these battles, making them pretty easy, but I did it with Cornet at level 45 in my previous game. Obviously the higher your levels the easier it will be.) After this there is a scene where Golonzo meets his match...Heh heh. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M A R L C A S T L E ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The final scenes of the game take place back in Marl Castle. When you have control of Cornet, chat to everyone in the room if you wish, and then leave at the bottom doorway. (Talk to the guard at the right for a funny line in toilet humour.) Head for the target room to complete the story: this is through the left door at the top of the main stairs, and then, down the corridor and out onto the balcony. Here, Cornet meets with Kururu. After the scene the game ends. Wait through the credits for a final scene. After that press B to make a clear save file. Unfortunately there is not a lot that you can do after this, aside from review all the monsters you've slain and listen to all the songs again. BONUS CONTENT There is none. There was some in the Japanese game but it was not included in this NISA release. The game is complete so that's all, folks! E N E M Y L I S T ...................................................*ENS =============================================================================== Enemies are listed in the Observation Menu in the game, but only after you have fought them, and they appear in groups according to their type. At first we thought that the names were not given when you fight them, so we included details to help you identify them. However, I realised that the names are there after all. Look at the blue line at the bottom of the BOTTOM SCREEN, and the name is written in white at the left corner. It only appears when you are selecting your attacks and disappears during the battle. All that looking at the TOP SCREEN distracted me, and PP was always fighting on auto. Oops! Note that the enemies found in some of the dungeons will change, as you progress through the game. This is particularly true with the Wonder Woods area, and the Ancient Forest. Also the amount of HP and SP can change as well, making the same enemy more powerful, and this seems to occur more often than we once thought. In a different game, with lower levels for example, you could find that some enemies' HP varies from the numbers listed. We've included some of the variations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- O B S E R V A T I O N M E N U L I S T ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the list in the same order as from the Observation menu, and grouped into types of enemies. We've included this so you can quickly find any missing enemies if you are trying to track down them all. However, despite hours of searching and battling, there are a couple that have proved elusive, to such an extent that we are beginning to suspect that they don't exist at all! Update January 21st. The Dark Dragon has been found! We were wrong. He does exist!
