HELP ******************************************************************************************** ------------------------------- / 1. Overview + Getting Started/ ------------------------------- This Guide is made for the european (EU) version of phantasy star online Version 1+2, but can also be used for the united states (US) and Japenese (JAP) versions of the game. This guides tells you about the basics of the game and goes into detail about things you may not have known. The Guide is Posted on the website WWW.GAMEFAQS.COM the best site for hints tips reviews and cheats. ( This guide won't go into all the small detail about characters, as that would take ages) GETTING STARTED. Because pausing the game online is an inconvenience to others and if you could people would get a bit pissed off at you for doing it. You can't pause it offline for that matter,(if you need to do something, but want to leave your game on pause, go into a room without monsters and leave it) but, it's not a big problem. Instead, pressing start brings up the main menu where you can control many aspects of the game. When you first start the game a video sequence appears telling you about what happened on Ragol with pioneer 1. ( NOTE. This sequence is Skippable, THANK GOD) Then you are confronted with the character creater menu. NOTE: If you have a character from PSO v1, you can convert it to PSO v2. Beware, once you convert this character, you cannot use it for PSO v1 anymore (although some people say you can in the US version). Also, upon conversion, illegal items (Gamesharked items) will be deleted, and any illegal attributes will be adjusted. The story goes like this: (how it comes up in the manual and in the game) The "Pioneer Project" -- A plan born of desperation, conceived in response to the imminent destruction of their home world. As plans for evacuation began, unmanned probes were sent into deep space to find a habitable location. When a potential site was discovered, the first interstellar transport ship, Pioneer 1, was sent to establish a colony. Pioneer 1 confirmed that the planet Ragol was a suitable location, and the initial colonists started preparing the planet for the main wave of refugees, beginning with the constructin of the Central Dome. 7 years later... Pioneer 2 completed it's long voyage with the main wave of refugees aboard. But as Pioneer 2 entered orbit and opened a communications link with the Central Dome, an enormous explosion shook the planet. All contact with the thousands of men and women of Pioneer 1 was lost... (this hopefully will be updated) ******************************************************************************************** ----------------------------- / 2. Whats new for Version 2?/ ----------------------------- Here is a list of things that have been added for Version 2: Ultimate difficulty. Ultimate difficulty is really just a reworking of the v1 game. The areas have the same maps, but slightly different graphics. There are no completely new monsters, just old monsters with new wireframes and texture maps -- behavior is much the same as before. However, Ultimate difficulty is a big step up from Very Hard. Offline, you can enter Ultimate difficulty after defeating Dark Falz in Very Hard. Online, you must be level 80 or higher to join an Ultimate difficulty game. New Areas: The Spaceship and Temple areas are for rule type Battle Mode ONLY. Shortcut Menu. Holding the R trigger pressing Y now gives a quick selection list, instead of being a second chat button! This doesn't sound like much, but it is enormously useful. Once the selection list is up, pressing the R trigger again switches between three lists. The first two lists are for weapons and items. The third list, for technique users, is a list of all the techniques. For androids playing Ultimate difficulty, the third list is for Traps. Traps. When playing in Ultimate difficulty, androids now can set traps! There are three types: Damage (foie based), Freeze (barta based), and Confusion. Androids up to level 100 will get ten traps of each type. From levels 100 to 149, fifteen traps of each type. From level 150 up, twenty traps of each type. Damage traps are quite powerful, but are also subject to monster technique resistence. Freeze traps can cause damage as well, but their real use is that they are guaranteed to freeze enemies caught in the blast. Confusion traps will cause monsters to attack the nearest target -- this includes players. Monsters caught by a trap's effect will give the trap setter EXP when the monster is killed, even if no damage is done. Traps can be replennished either at the Hospital, or by the Healing Rings found in the areas. Traps do not take up space and can be found at the bottom of your inventory list. You cannot drop them as an item. Levels Go Up To 200. Maximum attribute statistics can also go much higher than v1, and are generally better balanced between character classes. It takes a lot of experience points to go up levels past level 100. (For example, total experience needed to hit level 100 is about 2.2 million. Total experience needed to hit level 200 is about 96 million.) Dressing Room. In Ver.2, if you have 100,000 meseta in the possession of your character (as opposed to stored in the check room), you can enter the Dressing Room when picking your character. The Dressing Room will only allow you to change costume color and hair (or head type for casts). Nothing else can be changed, unless you use a code. Glitches: #1 If you kill power after entering the Dressing Room, it will clear the serial number associated with your character. The next time you play, you will need to enter it. A side effect of this apparently is that people who have your Guild Card will no longer be able to search for you. I have not tried this, so do at your own risk. #2 There is a code for the cheat programs (Game Shark, Game Xploder, Code Breaker) to permit you to change any aspect of your character in the Dressing Room. However, if you change your name using this code, it will NOT change your Section ID. This is something that I have tryed and very useful as can change your name which in turn changes your Section ID so you can find all of the Items in the game. Challenge Mode. This is an online play mode where you play with one to three other people (that is... two to four people total). There are nine challenges total, and they basically emulate starting new level one characters and progressing from the Forest through Dark Falz. There is no Pioneer 2 or shops to purchase items from -- you only get the items you start each challenge with and find on the way. Survival is a matter of acting as a team fighting monsters and sharing items that are found. If any player dies, all the players fail the challenge. Completing challenge mode with a good time will be rewarded with a special weapon or item. There are maps and translated guides to challenge mode available at mamak-int.com, or check one of the guides available at gamefaqs.com or elsewhere. Battle Mode. Battle mode is another online play mode. Battle can be played either on the surface of Ragol, or through special "rules" which are loaded like quests, and which will take players to one of the two new area maps. When on Ragol, players fight monsters as usual, but can hurt each other with physical and magical attacks. Technique Point usage is quite high in battle mode, and technique range is much more limited. Gltch: When playing a battle rule, if you sort your items, your game will lock up! Techniques up to level 30. The main complaint of every FOrce in v1 was that everyone was limited to level 15 techniques, meaning that there was no advantage to being a Force. Now, while HUnters and RAngers are still limited to level 15, FOs can have up to level 30! New Items. There are many Ver.2 only weapons, armor, shields, and MAGs. Most of the Ver.2 weapons have a unique appearance, and unlike in v1, v2 armor and shields have a visual appearance so that you and other players can see what you're wearing. Armor creates an aura effect, shields have a distinct appearance on a character's left arm. More Online Quests. While the US players are still shafted by the inability to get many items from the JP only offline quests, there are a bunch more online quests than there were for v1. Many of these provide decent Ver.2 weapons. There are some weak Anti-Cheating features. For example, illegal items are deleted when converting from v1 to v2. So if you have items with illegal percentages or grind, be aware that the game will kill them. If PSO Ver.2 detects a save file for one of the known cheat programs, you will not be able to find any Special Weapons or items, period. The servers can also ask your Ver.2 client to poll memory areas, and if it sees data that it doesn't like, you may be banned. That being said though, Ver.2 has many of the same exploits that Ver.1 has, including the ability for other users to destroy your character data, or cause your game to freeze up. Common (under 9 star?) Version 1 "special weapons" are identified without needing to be tekked. This means a DB's Saber shows as a DB's Saber, not a "? Special Weapon". Unfortunately this also means you aren't able to get the +10% attribute bonus that you can get from tekking a weapon. Lobby Soccer. "Go Go Ball" can be played by Ver.2 players on any ship in lobby areas 11 to 15. Some people find this to be interesting, but I do not. Extra info displayed in lobbies. Aside from being able to see character name, language setting, and level, you can now also see another player's wins and disconnects from Battle Mode, and their ranking from Challenge Mode. In a Go Go Ball lobby you can also see (and set for yourself) a team color marker at the desk. Player Search. You can search for other players based on specific criteria, such as level, class, age, gender, and the type of game they're looking for. Any successful search allows you to send mail or meet that player. Each player can control whether or not they may be found through this sort of search. Unfortunately, it is (or was) possible to freeze another players game by sending them simple mail, so I do not permit people to search & mail me this way. Being Revived in Ultimate does not replenish HP and TP. A dead character who is revived in Ultimate difficulty will have 1 HP and whatever TP they had before they were knocked out. In addition, casting Reverser on a player will cause that player's HP to drop to one. The exception is in quests. Being revived in a quest will restore HP to 100%. Several glitches were removed. This includes the resta/reverser trick to replenish TP, clipping through locked doors and gates, and dropping an item to escape jar traps in the ruins. ******************************************************************************************** ---------------- / 3. Offline quests/ ------------------- To play a quest, start one up from the Hunters Guild in Pioneer 2 (it's the first room you start out in.) Walk up to the window and hit A. If you're offline, you can select from a list of quests - there are only three to begin with, but you get more after you beat them. There is also a Download Quest option offline, which is where you can play any quests you have downloaded online. To download a quest, go only and choose "Download" at the ship select screen. it will temporarily load into the memory, then you choose a memory card to put it on. There is usually Meseta as a reward upon completion, but sometimes you may get something even better! This is the order the quests appear in and how to do them: MAGNITUDE OF METAL: 1. Use a barrier switch to access the chest here, then use a normal switch to open the door. 2. Kill the monsters here and collect items. Now exit. 3. There are two exits here, one is locked so forget it. Kill all the monsters to open the other exit. 4. You see a barrier and a door. Kill all the monsters to open both. Collect items behind the barrier then pass the door. You find Elenor here. After you talk, and when the choice window appears select the bottom option. She joins you. Use the switch near her to access the room. 5. Here use a barrier switch to collect items and pass the door. 6. Kill all the monsters. Use the barrier switch for items then exit. 7. Use the barrier switch to collect items, kill some monsters then use a switch to open the door. You are back in the room, now go in the first room to find the mag of Elenor and yours. After that return to Pioneer City and talk to Garon at the guild. Now you can receive the reward. CLAIMING A STAKE : You must find a guy in the forest and rescue him if he is alive. Go and find him. But he wants you to find some capsules, three to be exact. Go and collect all three Now return and talk to the guy. A warp opens, use it to return to the guild. Talk to your customer and then to Irene at the guild to obtain the reward. BATTLE TRAINING : Once you have met your customer, search in the guild for Kireek. After you talk he joins you. Return to the customer and talk. Now you can go into forest. You begin randomly in the forest but you must reach the guy you are looking for. Once you find him, search for the disk near him and talk again to the guy. Kireek saves him and leaves you. You have just to use the warp or create one with a telepipe to return to Pioneer City. Talk to the customer and obtain the reward at the guild. JOURNALISTIC PURSUIT : You begin this mission in forest 1, go around the forest untill you find a warp to get to forest 2. 1. You begin here and see 5 exits. One is close. Try the one on the right. 2. Activate two switches here, collect items and kill some monsters. exit. 3. (It's the exit on the left in room 2).Collect items here. exit. 4. (it's the exit straight)collect items here. 5. it's the last exit and the good way. you must build the way to the computer. Exit by the way that goes up. 6. collect items then go down to the exit. 7. activate 2 switches here and pass the door near one of the switch. You are back in room 5, click on the computer here. Then the mission is over. Return to the guild, talk to your customer and receive the reward. NATIVE RESEARCH : You have 20 minutes to collect 5 samples of DNA of native monsters. Info 4 is in the room of forest 1, it's a wolf. Info 2 is the rappy in the room of forest 1, and Info 1 is the Booma in the room of forest 1. Now go to forest 2 and find the two last infos.Info 5 is in the first room, you must kill a hildebear to obtain it. Info 3 is the most difficult to obtain. Go in the room and kill the Monest. FOREST IN SORROW : Alicia comes with you cause one of the data samples seems to be wrong. When you begin you must go in Forest 2 by using the warp. Kill everyone in the room and don't live this room before you meet a baby monsters. Behind a mountain is a small path, use it to meet the monster. He runs cause he is afraid of you. Now reach the computer that opens the bridge to the computer, then go to it after a big fight in a room. Use this weather computer to learn about the animal here. Now go in room 3 for a very difficult fight and search again the baby. This time he can't run. When Alicia talks to you answer anyone of the two options (it doesn't matter), and the mission is over. Go in the guild and collect money. GRAN SQUALL : A boat has crashed here. you must find it. You begin to find Bernie in one of the rooms of forest 1 and answer "yes" when he offers to come with you. You need him to open some doors here and reach Forest 2. In Forest 2, find you way to the third room. After the classic battle, you find a new teleport that wasn't here in previous mission. Use it to access to the room(sometimes, this warp can be in another room) . Once here, kill everyone of course, then use a warp to use a barrier switch and collect items once you come back, and then advance to find the girl Bernie was searching. He left you to save her and you have just to use a telepipe to return to the guild and receive your money. Now the missions are blocked and doesn't offer the new. So go into the forest and complete it, now go to the principal and you can now access the caves and the new set of missions. THE VALUE OF MONEY : After you talk to the customer, go in the weapon shop and talk to the man here. Answer "NO" and then, "YOUR A FOOL". So use the exit of the right. 5 : (right) Here you can buy a cake. There are 2 exits, right and left. The mission is over once you have the cake. The crazy sisters want to prepare some again before they return to Pioneer, if you use a telepipe and bring it to your current customer you can receive the reward. THE LOST BRIDE : Cicil comes with you and she mustn't use a healing item. You must find the waterfall of cave 2. First find your way to cave 2. It's long but easy. CAVE 2: (i just give the good path for now cause later you will have the opportunity to explore it.) 1 : Exit by the right. 2 : Go straight and follow a corridor. 3 : Go straight and follow another corridor. Go left then and you arrive in the waterfall room. Look at the scene and return to the guild by using a telepipe. receive your reward there. SECRET DELIVERY : You have 45 minutes to save Elenor. Go in the cave. 1 : Kill then exit. 2 : It's a corridor , follow it and kill everyone on the way. 3 : Kill then exit straight. 4 : Switch on the light, kill and exit. Now you will find your way to cave 2. Near the end of this floor you meet a hunter, exit to cave 2. In cave 2, the only difference is that you must find a purple switch further in the dungeon. Talk to the robots, answer the second option, and you will have to fight them. Once you find Elenor, return to the hunter's guild and talk to the client, then collect your meseta. THE GRAVE'S BUTLER : Cave 1 is the same as in ADDICTING FOOD. So use it to reach cave 2. Search the waterfall room in cave 2 and read the message there, then use a switch to exit. In cave 2, search the waterfall room and kill a hunter. Now go straight. In the next room go left to use a warp and reach the switch that opens the door right. Exit straight in the next room, then right and you find the warp to cave 3. In Cave 3, go straight, kill and exit north. Follow the way to the room with a barrier switch to see Black paper. Return to the guild to obtain the reward. DOCTOR OSTO'S RESEARCH : Go to the mine after you talk to the customer. You'll begin in Mine 2. MINE 2 : 1 : Kill then you see 2 exits, left and north. UNSEALED DOOR : Doctor Mome has decided to come with you, unfortunately. This guy is stupid and slow. You will find it difficult to drag him than walk in the dungeon...It's the most difficult mission of the game, so again don't e mail me about it, all is here, the rest is up to you and you only. Defeating the Worm boss with this NPC is truly difficult and it requires skill and 10 star atomizers.(you find yourself going backwards through the game) First bring him to the computer, you can use the map of Mine 2, there is no problem. Then exit of the room by going straight, to find three ground switches and an access to mine 1. MINE 1 : 1 : Kill and exit. 2 : Kill, switch on the light and exit. UNDERGROUND CHANNEL : BOSS : DE ROL LE : 1 : As i say above, before you fight him with Mome, you must be sure to have 10 star atomizers. You can find one in mine 2, in Room 5 after you destroy a Dubwitch. Remember to have 10 star atomizers with you! (they can be bought from the shops). 2 : Mome has 5 monomate with him. Be sure that in the dungeon he never uses one. Don't e mail me saying it's impossible, it's possible cause i've done it many times. 3 : During the fight with the boss, choose to shoot with a gun. If the boss focus on Mome, try to receive the tentacle hit instead of letting Mome receive it. Then the monster will focus on you. 4 : The most difficult thing is to protect Mome from the purple fireball, cause it makes combos on him and kill him. Be sure you protect him. 5 : When the light disappeared, don't even try to shoot the head cause of Mome. If you do one shot and run, Mome will be hit cause he runs later after you. 6 : Be sure you have all your time cause this battle is very very very.... very long. I was at level 25 when i succeed. It's possible but you need all your skills. (I suggest leaving this mission untill you are at a high level and can kill De Rol Le by the time it takes him to land on the boat twice!) AFTER the battle, Mome concludes that Beta 772 has infected this monster after Calus releases it in nature. But the cell has disappeared in it and this boss is nothing but a monster. DOCTOR SECRET PLAN : Elenor comes with you to test a new weapon. (Quite a difficult mission as you have to keep Elenor alive!) RUINS 1 : 1 : Use 2 switches to exit. 2 : Test 1. You see 3 exits. Use 3 switches here. 8 : Kill you see 2 exits. Right leads to items. Go left. 9 : Test 2. You see 2 exits. Left are healing rings, so go straight. 10 : Items and an exit. 11 : Test 3, kill then use a telepipe to return to the guild. SEEK MY MASTER : Shino decides to come with you. Go in the ruins. RUINS 1 : 1 : Kill and exit right for items. Then exit left. 2 : Kill and exit. 3 : Exit to use a barrier switch. Come back collect items and use 2 switches to exit by the locked door. You are in test room 3, so use the previous map to reach test room 1. One exit leads to healing ring, one leads to some rooms and items and last one is the good. 4 : Kill then exit. 5 : Straight exit leads to items and then go left. 6 : Here sraight exit leads to a useless warp, so go left and use the warp here to 2 switches. 7 :This room can be reach by the third exit of 6. HE TELLS YOU THE LEGEND OF THE FOUR SWORDS AND SAID THAT ZOKE HAS THREE OF THEM. IF YOU WISH TO FIND AGITO TALK TO HIM. RETURN TO THE DUNGEON. 8 : Kill then you can talk to Zoke and receive the Sange Sword. Collect items and return to the guild now to receive the reward. FROM THE DEPTHS : Meet the customer and go in the ruins. RUINS 2 : 1 : Use 2 ground switches, exit right to use 2 more. Exit left then for items. The exit straight is the good one. 2 : Kill then exit. 3 : You can exit straight to a couple of rooms with items and then come back to exit left. You find two hunters here. 4 : Continue to find two more and kill the monster. 2 exits, one to items and the other is the good way. 5 : Kill then exit. 6 : Kill then exit right to a warp and collect items. Return in room 6 and exit by the left. 7 : You find a women, talk to her until she attacks you with monsters, kill them all. 8 : Kill, exit right to healing ring then exit left. 9 : Earthquake. Right exit is for items, so exit left. 10 : Earthquake then kill. You see 2 exits, right for items then exit left. 11 : Use the bridge. Avoid the box that falls on you and exit. 12 : Kill a centaur and exit. You can now go to ruins 3. RUINS 3 : 1 : Meet ASH and he joins you. Kill and exit. 2 : Kill and exit. 3 : There are 5 exits. "Left exit 1" leads to a barrier switch after some rooms. "Left exit 2" leads to a barrier switch in a dark room. "Exit right 2" leads to the fifth exit and a warp. Use it then fight in a dark room. Switch on the light to see the red switch. Now use the "exit of the right 1" to use a new warp. Use the machine here to collect datas. Exit then Ash leaves you and you can return to the guild by using a telepipe. Now all the missions are cleared. You see them in yellow and can replay them for exp and money. There are two weapons you can get from the offline missions: SOUL EATER: Play through these quests in order once you have completed all the quests: Dr. Osto's research, unsealed door, waterfall tears, Black paper, From the depths. (probably) So, it all sums up to this: Have a good time online! Just don't be annoying. (This Will be Updated) ******************************************************************************************** ---------------- / 10. Battle Mode/ ---------------- this is for (2-4 players) only you will be split into two teams at the start of the battle anyway. If you can't get anyone to battle you then create a battle mode game anyway in a lobby with lots of people hanging out, like, Iapetus Block 1 or 2, and just wait in the game for a while untill other people come in! (don't password it or no-one can get in!) FIGHT! In PSO Ver. 2's Battle Mode, you pit yourself against one to three others, and actually fight. Using the same combat style as you do against normal enemies, you turn against each other instead of relying on team work. When you join a Battle game, all areas are open that you have unlocked for whatever difficulty you've done. You can choose whatever difficulty you want for a battle game, and the items you find throughout the stage depend on what difficulty it is. Normal is generally the best thing to do, because all level characters can use the weapons, and most battle modes have you start at a low level. If you enter one of the areas, be warned: Other players CAN attack you, and if you die, your money and weapon are free to be taken. Don't worry as you WILL get your weapons and meseta back at the end of the battle. The same rules apply to people that want to take people's weapons and meseta, it WILL disappear after the battle mode is finished. To start an actual battle game with rules, everyone in your party must go to the Hunters Guild and the team leader, who created the game, will select which rule to play. (Note: There must be at least two people to start.) When the game first came out, there were 4 modes, now there are 6. New ones may be added in the future. Once the leader selects a rule, the game will be loaded into the Dreamcast's memory and it will start after several seconds. If you have four players, teams will automatically be formed in some rules. Other rules will have it so it's every man for himself. After the time is up, the score will be shown and the leader can select to restart the battle with the same rules, or return to the lobby. Your score will be added to your memory, and is kept track of in the main menu--press start, then the R or L trigger a few times to get to it. Here's the breakdown of all the different rules: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ -- Battle 1 Time: 10 minutes Area: Spaceship Type: Normal Synopsis: It's in the Spaceship area, with no special rules. All items, techniques, and weapons you had before the match started are kept intact, and the amount of HP/TP/Your_level will remain the same. Nothing is different about your character, but you go up five levels each time you die. A Delsaber appears halfway through the battle, and can be deadly if you're not careful... Strategy: Well everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages. The best thing to do is get the most powerful weapon you can so you'll give a lot of damage in a single hit. The reason being is that players can heal themselves. And watch out for Megid, it's nasty. -- Battle 2 Time: 10 minutes Area: Palace Type: Normal Synopsis: All players start at level 1 and have no starting items. The only thing you can use are the things that you find in the area. Level 5 levels after each death. Strategy: Because each player has a limited TP, do not rely heavily on techniques. They are useful for weaker players, though, but weapons are the most important. Try to find recover items as well. Attack players that have already taken damage from another player, because they will be easier to kill. -- Battle 3 Time: 10 minutes Area: Spaceship Type: Warp Battle Synopsis: The entire area is divided into smaller areas by warps. Jump around from room to room while trying to hide from your opponents. Everyone starts at level 1 with no items or mag. Level 5 levels after each death. Strategy: The best thing to do is to not die once you have the lead to avoid losing points. Quickly hop through the maze, but beware of the enemies. About halfway through, enemies will begin to appear and can be quite deadly. A good attack would be to place a trap near an enemy--that way, a player will be stuck and most likely die from the enemy. -- Battle 4 Time: 10 minutes Area: Palace Type: Meseta Battle Synopsis: Everyone starts at level 1 with no items, mags, etc. Level 5 levels after each death. The player who is holding the most meseta in the end will win. Strategy: Money £££ Try to find meseta and a lot of it. Just be careful not to die, becaues you will drop your money and leave it open for another player to collect. -- Battle 5 Time: 10 minutes Area: Spaceship Type: Normal Synopsis: Everyone starts at level 20. You don't start out with any items, though. Once you die you are not revived, and cannot be revived until a teammate brings you back. If you have no teammate, then you lose the match. Strategy: The entire area is filled with barriers and walls. Unlock the door to get to opponents and hide behind them to avoid damage. Zonde goes over walls, so use that to your advantage. -- Battle 6 Time: 10 minutes Area: Palace Type: Meseta Battle Synopsis: Everyone keeps their current level and items. There person to collect the most meseta in the end wins. Strategy: Just like battle #4, the important thing is to not die. Doing so will cause you to drop your money and leave it open for another player to snag. ******************************************************************************************** ------------------- / 11. Challenge Mode/ ------------------- One of the modes new to Ver. 2 is Challenge. To start a challenge game, select Create Team from the lobby and then choose to make it a Challenge game. There are no difficulty choices for this mode. When you enter a Challenge game, Pioneer 2 is in the daylight setting similar to the way it is in Ultimate mode. You cannot access the main transporter to other areas, and the stores are also closed down. The other thing you need to do is to start the challenge from the Hunters Guild. All items you had _before_ the game started will be returned to you after the challenge is over, and you cannot earn any new items likewise. To start the actual challenge, the team's creator must do so from the Hunters Guild. When the person selects what challenge to do, it will be loaded into the memory, just like it does in an online quest. No one else can join once the challenge begins. +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ | What IS Challenge? | | | | In Challenge Mode, you go through a series of | | challenges which generally consist of passing | | through the area alive. You all start out at | | a certain level (level 1 for the first | | challenge, then you eventually move up) and | | all players start with a fixed amount of | | certain items. You'll begin the challenge and | | your team must work together to level up a few | | levels and eventually make it to your | | destination in the target amount of time. If | | one member of your team dies, the challenge is | | failed and you all must try again. | +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ The players will load in, and you must complete the challenge within the given amount of time. It's best to complete it as fast as possible, because you have a better chance of earning an S-rank. Each challenge you complete gives you a new rank. If you complete ALL challenges within 7 hours, you'll earn an S-rank. Upon earning the S- rank, you are awarded with one special weapon which you can name yourself. (see Weapons and Items Section 10.) TIPS FOR CHALLENGE: • This is a team game, so use teamwork. If one person dies, the entire group fails so make it your goal to keep everyone alive. Donate monomates, etc. if necessary. • The more players you have, the better. It's best to wait for 4 players before starting the challenge otherwise your team will have a much harder time. • It's a good idea to have at least one Force and one Hunter, the other two can be any class. Having three people from the same class isn't recommended. • Be courteous and do not disconnect during a Challenge game. It makes it harder for the rest of the team and no one can join after you all have started. • Long-range weapons and spells are safer to use. • Not all enemies need to be killed. Try to pass enemies that are unnecessary to kill, because it will be faster and safer for everyone. Once you complete the challenge, you can return to the lobby. If you fail the challenge, you all will return to Pioneer 2 and the leader will determine if you should retry or go back to the lobby. After all challenges have been completed, your character is done. Only 1 S-rank per character can be awarded. To check your progress, press start and hit R to go through the menus. On the screens Challenge 1/2 and Challenge 2/2 it will show you your title and completed time, respectively. Challenge Walkthroughs: Below is a guide for completing all 9 challenges, accompanied with ASCII maps. The maps may be slightly inaccurate, but hopefully they'll still be helpful. --Challenge 1 Area: Forest Stages: 1-3 Target Time: 40 minutes -------- |FOREST 1| /¯¯¯¯\¯¯¯¯¯¯\ -------- | W3 / A3 \ |____/ \ \ F3 | \ S3 / \ / ¯¯¯\ /¯¯ | | /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ | | / W2B \___/ | | / | /¯¯¯¯¯¯ \ / ¯¯\ ___/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ \ POINTLESS ROOM \______/ \ \ /¯¯¯¯\L1 \ \ /¯¯ \ \ \ \ / /¯¯¯¯ \ \ \ /¯\¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ /¯¯\ \ \ \ / \ \ / \ | \ \ | $ | F5 \ | BA2| \ \ \ \_/ A5 | | | F2 \ \ \ \ | |___/ | | | ¯¯\ / / | \ \ \ / / | | | \ \ | DA3 /¯¯\ | | | \ \ \ / \ S2 / | | \ \/ / \___ __/ | | \ / \ / / / ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ / \ / / /¯¯ ¯¯\ | | _/¯¯¯¯## | | | | ## B2 | | | | W2 ## | / / ¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¯\ / / / \ / / / / \ / / /¯¯ ¯\ | | / ¯¯\ | \ / S1 \ / \_ | |__ | ¯¯\ | G1 ||__| | | \ | / G4 / \ | / _/ \ | / / \__ / _/ ___/ \ | / / | | / / \ | / | \ \ / / \ \/ / \ / \ X / \ / ____| | | H1||F4 / ¯¯¯¯\|______/ /¯¯¯¯\ | W3 | -------- \ | |FOREST 2| \ | -------- / \/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ | || S4 \ \____||F4 \/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ \ \ /\ STUFF /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\_/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ \ / | / | \ \ B3 | | | | | | ###### | | | \ | |A6 | | \/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ | |\ W6B| | W6 | | | | | \________/ \___/ \ _ | S | | ___ \ / | | T | | |W3B| \ / | | U | | | W4| \ | | * | F | | ¯¯¯ / | | * S22 | F | BOSS | /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ | | | | \________/ | W4B \ / / | F22 | | || / |¯¯¯¯¯~¯¯¯¯¯| \ A5 / / | | ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ / \__________/ | / /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\/ / | | | | STUFF \___________/\ / / \ (I didn't draw a map for /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ \ this area because you H2 || ¯\ don't need to come here at | | all and it wastes time.) \_ / / /¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\____/¯¯ /¯¯ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯\ | \ | | || | | || \ $2 /\ / \________/ \___________/ FOREST1 (Area 1) Okay, it will take about 30 seconds of your precious time for everyone to load in. (unless you need them, of course.) X marks the starting point. Go to the first room on your left and fight off all the enemies. There a switch near the door (S1) that can be used to unlock the fence (G1) if you need them. Through the next room you'll notice a large barrier (B2) blocking a path. You can't go through it just yet. Continue to the next room and have someone step on the switch (S2) to open the fence (F2). Inside the fence is a (BA2) switch - someone needs to hit it and now the barrier (B2) will move out of your way. Behind the barrier is a warp (W2). Go through it. You'll end up in a fairly large room (W2A) and there will be many enemies. Have some people fight off the Monest because that createst the biggest threat. Everyone else should work on the surrounding Boomas and Wolves. After everything is dead, go through the path that's now open. Have someone step on the pad (S3) to open the fence (F3) and take the warp. Once they've gone through the warp (W3), hit the switch (A3). Have everyone go back to the big room where you hit the barrier switch earlier. The door (DA3) is now unlocked. If you want, go down the path to the first room and hit the switch (G4) to unlock the fence (F4) and use the healing spot (H1). Go through the door (DA3) and hit the last switch (A5) to open the fence (F5). If you need items, go on to the next room after killing the enemies, otherwise it's a waste of time. Take the pipe to Forest 2 ($). FOREST2 (Area 2) You'll start out on the Forest 2 map where the ($) is. Go down the ledge and open the crates for items, otherwise continue through the door. On the left you'll notice a healing spot (H2) across the bridge. You can get there later, but not now, so continue after killing the bad guys. Go through the first door on the left for items and experience points, but skip it if you can. In the big room, there will be a door on the right near the center of it. Have two people use the switches (S22) to open the fences (F22) if you need items. This room is otherwise pointless. Now if you pass this room, there will be another door on the right. That leads to other doors, which just have more enemies and items. Go there ONLY if you need to. Now, going back to the big room...find the door at the end of it on the far left. After killing everything, have one person step on the pad (S4) and another person go through fence while it's open and take the warp (W3). Once the person goes through the warp, the other three people can stay in the room. The person who goes through the warp will end up in a small room (W3B) with another warp (W4) - take the other warp (W4). Now, you'll be in a small room that was previously locked (W4B). Hit the switch (A5) to unlock the door as well as the barrier (B3). The three can go ahead through the barrier, and the fourth person can catch up. After going through the barrier, hit the switch (A6 - I think it opens the bridge to the healing spot) and take the warp (W6). You'll end up in the room (W6B). Fight off the enemies, then go into the last room, which is the Central Dome room. The boss warp is there...once everyone is ready, go. BOSS (Area 3) You fight the Dragon for the boss. --Tips--: • Some characters do not die in one hit, while others do. If someone has an extra Scape Doll and does NOT die in one hit, they should give it to someone who DOES die in one hit. • Make sure not to let the dragon fall on you. • Forces should use support magic. • Hide behind the Dragon's holes in the ground to avoid being hit when he comes after you underground. If you all beat the Dragon successfully, then congrats - you win! Upon completing Challenge 1 you will earn the rank of: Ra-GOU -----------------CHALLENGE WALKTHROUGHS 1 THROUGH 9 COMING SOON--------- ------- The reason for the lack of any strategy is simply because I haven't beaten all of them yet. Anyway, I promise you that I WILL beat them soon enough and write about them in the near future. ******************************************************************************************** ------------- / 12. It's not without warning, | | however, and their shadows can be seen in time | | to prepare yourself, along with the quiet | | buzzing noises it makes. As soon as the Monest | | lands, start to chop it up. It can't hurt you, | | but the Mothmants it spits out can hurt you, | | so be careful. Kill the bugs as they come out. | | They won't regenerate once you take the plant | | out. | +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ Savage Wolf Normal: 45HP Hard: 377HP Very Hard: 706HP Found: Forest 1+2 Barbarous Wolf Normal: 65HP Hard: 398HP Very Hard: 731HP Found: Forest 1+2 +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ | •STRATEGY• | | Barbarous Wolf, Savage Wolf | | | | Avoiding their attack is a fairly easy task. | | "How so?" you ask? Well, they generally attack | | only from behind, meaning that they will never | | leap onto you if you are facing directly at | | one. But this isn't so easy when five of them | | are surrounding you-working together is their | | thing, just like real wolves. So try to kill | | all of them quickly to avoid being surrounded. | | Once you kill one of them, all the others in | | the pack automatically power-down and cast | | Jellen/Zalure on themselves, making fighting | | somewhat easier for you. | +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ Rag Rappy Normal: 30HP Hard: 362HP Very Hard: 688HP Found: Forest 1+2 Al Rappy +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ | •STRATEGY• | | Rag Rappy, Al Rappy | | | | While they're not the most intimidating | | creatures, Rag Rappies will deliver quite a | | damaging blow to lower level characters. They | | will approach you quickly, and jab at you with | | their beak. Try to knock them out before they | | can do the same to you! Being very timid, the | | rappies will occasionally run away before you | | even attack. Most of the time though, you'll | | have to kill them yourself, until they fall | | down on the ground-once they fall down they're | | officially "dead" and you earn the experience. | | But in actuality, these tricksters like to play| | dead and will run away after a period of time. | | Try to hit one while it's running and it will | | drop an item. | +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ HildeBear Normal: 180HP Hard: 519HP Very Hard: 875HP Found:Forest 2 HildeBlue +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ | •STRATEGY• | | Hildebear, Hildeblue | | | | High levels players need not fear Hildebears, | | or any enemy for that matter. But these guys | | can kill low level players with one blow, so | | approach them very careful. They attack in one | | of two ways: by punching with their large arms | | or spitting Foie (fire) at you. The easiest | | way to attack one without being killed yourself| | is to circle it, and strike from behind. This | | is a slow process, but the safest way to go. | +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ Dragon Normal: Hard: Very Hard: Found: Forest Boss When you enter through the transporter, you're greeted with a cinematic of it flying down from above. Once it crashes down, set out and start attacking it any way you can. After a certain amount of damage (to the legs) it will fall down for about one minute. In this time, try to hit his head because it takes away more damage. Once he gets back up, he'll attempt to take off. Try to attack him more to prevent him from taking flight; otherwise he'll lift off. In the air, he'll do one of two attacks. One of those is to spit fire down onto you from above. This is less common, but easier to avoid. What he usually does, though, is dive down into the ground, then speed across the area underground. Use the radar to avoid being hit, or you might just get killed. *BIG TIP* When the dragon burrows (goes underground) run to the outside of the arena and keep running along the edge of it. Lots of people don't know this, but it will stop you from being hurt! Soon enough he'll land back on the ground, and attempt to fly away yet again. Hit him down, and aim for the head. Repeat until he dies. MAGs / ----------- What is a MAG? It's your robot friend that floats behind you. Your MAG can evolve depending on how you raise it. Select 'MAG' to feed it, change it, see your photon blasts, and drop it (note: you only get one MAG, unless you find another one, so you probably don't want to drop it). It has four stats: DEF, POW, DEX, and MIND; each affect a different stat of the actually player. For example, if your MAG has 100 POW, your character would have 200 ATP (attack power). When you feed it an item, the some stats will raise, others might lower, plus it can affect it's IQ and Synchro! This can be confusing, so watch carefully what items change what stats - try to focus on raising one stat at a time, while keeping it's IQ and Synchro fairly high. NOTE: A MAGs synchro will go down by 5 every time you turn off your Dreamcast you can put your MAG into the deposit box so its synchro won't go down. Some special things your MAG can do if it's IQ/Sync are high enough: - Cast Shifta/Deband when you enter a boss - Cast invincibility on your player - Revive your player when he/she falls (I keep my MAGs IQ at 200 and leave it's synchro at 0, my MAG does'nt cast shifta and Deband but I have Mylla and Youlla as a photon blast. My MAG does cast invincibility a lot and revives me almost every time so it doesn't really matter that much about synchro) You start out with a MAG that is lv (level) 5. It has no photon blasts nor a photon meter. Each time you completely raise a stat, your MAG will go up one level. At level 10 it evolves for the first time gaining a new photon blast as well as the photon meter. The MAG evolves again at lv 35 and 50. Your photon meter is a yellow ring next to your HP and TP bars. When it gets to 100% you can cast a photon blast (PB) by pressing R and on of the corresponding buttons. Sometimes your MAG will also cast invincibility when your PB meter gets full. Your PB goes up everytime an enemy hits you or you hit an enemy. If you want to find a MAG they only appear in the mines, usually in crates or obtained when you kill Val Opt. - Mag - Varuna - Mitra - Surya - Vayu - Varaha - Kama - Ushasu - Apsaras - Kumara - Kaitabha - Tapas - Bhirava - Kalki - Rudra - Marutah - Yaksa - Sita - Garuda - Nandin - Ashvinau - Ribhava - Soma - Ila - Durga - Vritra - Namuci - Sumba - Naga - Pitri - Kabanda - Ravana - Marica - Soniti - Preta - Andhaka - Bana - Naraka - Madhu - Churel - ROBOCHAO - OPA-OPA A mag from the old Sega Megadrive called Super Fantasy Zone (best game ever) Use the heart of OPA-OPA to get this MAG - PIAN - CHAO - CHU CHU Ver.2 A mag in the shape of a chu chu from chu chu rocket - KAPU KAPU Ver.2 - ANGEL'S WING Ver.2 - DEVIL'S WING Ver.2 - ELENOR Ver.2 BANNED - MARK3 Ver.2 - MASTER SYSTEM Ver.2 BANNED - GENESIS Ver.2 BANNED - SEGA SATURN Ver.2 BANNED - DREAMCAST Ver.2 BANNED - HAMBURGER Ver.2 - PANZER'S TAIL Ver.2 BANNED Found: obtainable by collecting 7 Weapons Badge Bone. If it's a new mag, it'll evolve at the following levels, and gain a new photon blast: - Level 10 - Level 35 - Level 50 It will also evolve over level 50 if one attribute rises above another attribute. Online Quests / ----------------------- Although JAP download quests have the best items, EU and JAP characters can get them. Set your Language setting to JAP first then go online and download them. Then go to the guild counter and play it (YOU MUST STILL BE IN JAP LANGUAGE SETTING) now play the quest (Beware it will be in JAP, but there are guides to get the items Available at gamefaqs.com) Here is a list of the online quests you can play, and the items they hold. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Towards the future (VERY HARD MODE) Item Received: Egg Blaster or Neis claw This quest is a simulater that records how well you do To aquire an Srank you must complete the quest in under 20 mins, kill over 190 enemies and don't die There is a slight bug at the end of this quest as once you talk to Irene she will present you with an item catalogue the choices are: EGG BLASTER BLUE RING QUIT theres what they actually mean: EGG BLASTER: this is actually Nei's Claw? a brief description will appear about it then you will be faced with two options in a weird language? the top option means NO and the Bottom option means YES? BLUE RING: this is actually Egg Blaster? a brief description will appear about it then you will be faced with two options: YES and NO QUIT: this will take you out of the catalogue and into the main Ship without getting anything You can go back to her again if you change your mind. To get an SSRank kill all the enemies without dying! (The Items will still be the same) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Towards the future (ULTIMATE MODE) This is exactally the same as the VERY HARD MODE but just harder really. The choices are: Plantain fan (S Rank) Drill launcher (SS Rank) Flight fan (S Rank) Maser Beam (S Rank) Yamigarasu (SS Rank) Plantain huge fan (S Rank) Ano Rifle (S Rank) Blue Ring (SS Rank) Most of these you will be able to get but to obtain all of them you must complete the mission in an SSRank. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Tinkerbell Lost Dog (1 player only) Item Received: Sonic Knuckles --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Today's Rate Item Received: Materials --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Famitsu Cup =Maximum Attack= Item Received: Refer to chart below In Famitsu Cup the quest is to find badges. Collect enough of these badges and you will receive a weapon. There are 9 bronze badges reachable if you have all 4 party members in the team. If you defeat more than 500 enemies in the quest than you are allowed access to a secret room once the quest is over. In this secret room boxes are scattered and there are bronze badges in the center of the room. Here is how many bronze badges you will receive in the secret room according to difficulty. Easy: 0 badges Hard: 3 badges Very Hard: 5 badges What are these bronze badges good for? A person next to the bank takes your badges and gives you better badges in return. If you have enough of those kind of badges you exchange them in for a weapon. Here is how the exchange process works: 3 Bronze Badges -> 1 Silver Badge 3 Silver Badges -> 1 Gold Badge 3 Gold Badges -> Your choice of 3 available weapons The weapons available to you are: Toy hammer, Samba Maracas, and Chameleon Scythe. You can only choose one of them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Sunset by the Secret Base (Japanese Only) (JAP and EU versions can download it, but remember to put your language to JAP) Item Received: Chu Chu MAG or Hamburger MAG or Mark III MAG or angel wing MAG or devil wing or Kapu Kapu MAG or Game Magazine or Chu Chu fever. (this mission is availble to download at BOOYAKA.COM) Talk to the nurse and she gives you the description. Pioneer 2 has banners for the Famitsu Cup on the walls. Go into the transporter to Forest 2. This quest can be done on any difficulty and you'll still get the reward. In the first room behind the crates, walk up the the Rag Rappy and talk to it. Choose the second option, then the first one. It talks to you for a while, and then is done. Continue walking and you'll see several Rappies (in odd places) some of which you can and can't talk to. Soon you'll come into a room with 7 Rag Rappies lined up in squads. They talk to you, then go into the next room. Approach the Rappie trapped behind the gate and he'll talk to you. The door is not unlocked and you can go to the next room. Hit the switch. You'll hear the chime whichs indicates how much time you have. HURRY! There are three paths you can take - take the middle one. Go through the winding path until you reach the warp. Go through it. Now, don't take the warp you see in front of you. Instead, turn around and you'll see another warp. Take it and hurry so that you make it through the gate because the time is almost up. Keep walking until you reach the red switch. Activate it and take the warp. Go back to where you saw the trapped Rappy earlier - he is no longer trapped. Talk to him and he runs out. Now, he uses his elite Rappy powers to move the barriers out of the way to reveal the Forest 2 warps. Woohoo! Now go through it. In the first room, walk down and talk to the Rag Rappy near all the crates. Then hit the switch and go into the next room. You'll see the Rappies playing on the rocket ships and taking a bath in the pond - ignore them. Walk into the really big room and go through the far Southeast door. Continue around into the next room and talk to the Rappy on the dock. He'll give you something. Go to the first room and talk to the Rappy again. In exchange for what you just got, he gives you something else. Now go back to the big room only this time take the SouthWEST door. Procede through the warp and go into the next room. There will be a Rappy in front of a warp, blocking it. Go into the Central Dome room. A Rag Rappy will talk to you. Go past him afterwards and approach the Rappy behind the green fence. He'll talk to you, and soon you'll see a cut scene where Rappies from all of the Forest talking. Suddenly you here a sound effect and a new song begins to play - Dreams Dreams from NiGHTS. Now go back to where the Rappy was blocking the warp - he moved out of the way. Take the warp into the room and turn around to find a blue item. Pick it up. Now go back to the big room and go into a smaller room in the Northeast. Talk to the Rappy behind the crates and choose the first then second answer. Now go to the East room and talk to the Rappy by the pond. For all three questions, pick the first answers, then go back to the last Rappy you talked to. It gets kind of confusing here: I wasn't completely sure what I was going so I just kept walking back and forth from the two Rappies and kept choosing the first choice. Finally I went to the Northeast room and answered in the following order: First, Second, First Once you do that, you're fine. Go back to the pond Rag Rappy and he says some stuff but you don't have to answer. Now, go back to the other Rappy for the final time and he gives you a Hamburger MAG. Yay!!! I don't think it's possible to do anything else on this quest, so just save and quit. You will still keep your new toy. If you want the GAME MAGAZINE- Once back on Pioneer 2, head towards the principles room. Talk to the FOmarl behind the left desk and choose option 2 (it has the word CUP in it). After a small cutscene, talk to the man behind the middle desk (where the principle usually is) and he will give you the Game Magazine. If you want the KAPU KAPU MAG, CHU CHU MAG and CHU CHU FEVER- After exiting the principles room, notice the boy opposite you on the left. Talk to him and he will gladly give you a Chu Chu Mag, Kapu Kapu Mag and a Chu Chu Fever. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest Name: Central Dome Fire (Japanese Only) (JAP and EU versions can download it, but remember to put your language to JAP) Item Received: Sonic knuckles and Mark III MAG (this mission is availble to download at BOOYAKA.COM) (a guide to this mission will soon be available) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest name: A letter from lionel (download) The guild has received a mail from Lionel, an android. First read the quest board. Now go to the forest. Find your way to Forest 2. Go in Room 3 and talk to a hunter. Then you can use a warp to room 8. You can kill the monsters first but it's better to use the other warp. You arrive in a small room with the head of the android. It's alive. Read the quest board to chat with the head of Lionel. You must chat until it gives a clue about the next part of him you must find. You have probably noticed a room locked in forest 2. Once Lionel says : "i must be in a stomach", this room opened. Go in and kill the hildebear. You obtain the arm of Lionel. Talk with the arm by using the quest board and it gives a clue for the legs. Go in Forest 1 and in room 2 you find the left leg in the river. Talk to the leg by using the quest board and you learn that the other leg is in the cave. To go in the cave, return to room 8 of forest 2 and do as if you wish to go to the boss. The difference is that the warp takes you to the cave. The right leg is in cave 2. Cave: 1 : Kill and exit. CORRIDOR 1 : be careful. 2 : Kill, you see 2 exits, north leads to a dark room and then to items. Go left. 3 : Kill and exit. 4 : 3 mines, exit. CORRIDOR 2 : Go right to go in 5, you can also go straight. 5 : Kill and exit, use the warp. Use another warp to open the door, you are back in the corridor, go straight now. 6 : Kill and exit. 7 : Kill, you see 2 exits, One to a healing ring and the other is the good. 8 : After a third corridor, kill, you see 3 exits. Left for an isolated room, the north door is locked, you can go right. 9 : Use 4 ground switches, go in the dark room, switch on the light and kill. Once you return in 9 you see a Pan Arms in Cave 1 (it's impossible normally). Use the second door of 9. 10 : The exit left leads to 8, and the other to cave 2. Once in cave 2, you will visit a maximum of 3 rooms, i can just say that you follow the way to the leg because it's simple. Talk with the leg and now use a telepipe. Near the guild is the hunter you saw in the forest, talk to him until he gives the body. Congratulations, Lionel is complete. Now go in the guild talk to him and receive the reward. You can gain at least 23 000 exp in very hard mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quest name: Soul of a Blacksmith : (download) The customer, Oswald wants four "ingredients" to create a photon weapon. He obtained an access to the secret research about photon weapon and now, he wants to make one. He offers to give it to you in addition of the reward. You have access to two dungeons, forest and cave. Read your quest board to see the list of items you must find. Go in the forest, in room 1 and room 7 you find a "Moon Tyte" (you have 2 now). Go in Forest 2 and fight the dragon. You obtained a "Dragon Scale". It's time to return to Pioneer 2 and to enter the cave. Advance in the dungeon and find a room with 2 exits. One leads to a healing ring and the other to a rock with shining stars on it, this room is splited into two parts and i'm talking of the part with the rock, search the rock to obtain an item. Find your way to cave 2 and search the waterfall room. You see another rock. Search an item in it. Now you can go to cave 3 for exp or simply return to Pioneer 2.Talk to the customer, he offers 3 choices. A Sword, Staff or Gun. Talk to him and choose one of the three until he gives a weapon. Then talk to him and you can receive your reward as in a classic mission. Note : 1)You can obtain a lot of weapons, all are using the photon. I'm sure that rare items aren't in this quest unfortunately. I obtain a poor Frost Sword and a poor Frost Staff because i used the first choice and the second. With the third i obtained a Frost Machine gun. 2)In fact you need only 1 moon tyte, 1 dragon scale and 1 item in the cave to obtain a fire weapon. If you bring a second moon tyte and a second item of the cave, you obtain a frost weapon. 3)you can earn a total of 20 000 exp if you explore cave 1,2,3 but it's long. (this will be updated) ******************************************************************************************** ----------------------- /21. Finding Rare Items/ ----------------------- All Rare weapons found will appear as ?SPECIAL WEAPON when you have one of these, take it to the tekker and he'll tell you what it's proper name is. Version 2 has a slight difference, Any ?SPECIAL WEAPONS tekked or gotten from people online Will appear on the ground as that Weapon e.g. If i found a VARISTA and someone online gave me a DB'S SABER everytime i found those weapons in a level they would have their proper names instead of ?SPECIAL WEAPON. Often people get frustrated trying to find rare items. It may seem as if you will never find a rare item as long as you play the game! That is not true! You will find a rare item! It takes lots of time though. Here are some tips that will guarantee that you will find more rare items. - All Version 2 rare items are found in Ultimate mode! Don't try and go to Very Hard Forest to find Version 2 rare items because you wont! - Harder is not always better. Your more likely to find rare items in Forest & Caves then if you were to go to Mines & Ruins. Why is that? Rare monsters only appear in Forest & Caves. - The more hours you have the more of your chance of finding rare items. Proven fact. - You will find more rare items in online mode then you would in offline mode! This is the exact opposite of version 1! Why? You can earn the items in online mode through online quests. -The more times an area is played the higher the stars on items become. Rare items only appear after 9 stars ******************************************************************************************** ----------------- /22. Section IDs / ----------------- Section IDs are just codenames given to your character that will enable that person to find different Weapons, Armor and Shields. Here is a small guide to the section IDs you want: 1. Choose the Letter, Symbol or number you want and write down the number underneath it. These are levels that can only be accessed by going online and have a BATTLE mode. Q. I have read and People have told me that people on Version 2 can't use cheats but i have been killed online and people can dupe and get items for me? How is this possible? A. SEGA tryed to stop people cheating online but there are about 473 places to use cheats, SEGA got all but one of these places, and this part of the game is called: 40707044 So people with cheats devices or CDs can access this part and change it. Q. How many Pages does PSO version 2 take up altogether? A. 45 altogether, 30Mb for the guild card and 15Mb for the main character data. This does not include space for Downloaded quests. Q. How come I can't do damage to the enemies in Ultimate Mode? A. You are not at a high enough level or the alternative is to get a Version 2 weapon with very high % i.e. 60%. Try getting one online. If you still can't get one use your traps (thats why they give you them in Ultimate Mode). Or If you have Techniques, keep using Zalure to drop the enemies defense and Shifta to Put up your Attack power. Q. I'm an android, and i've heard about traps, how do I use them? A. Use Quick Select (Y+R) and select the traps from there or go to your inventory and use them from there. Q. Where can I re-supply with more traps? A. In the medical center on Pioneer ship or HATRRs (HP and TP revival Rings) Q. How do I change costumes? A. When you load your character, there is an option for "Dressing Room". Choose it and pay the money to change your costume color and head. make sure you are holding 100,000 meseta (not in the bank!) Q. I can't get online. It says my account has been suspended. What's up? A. Well, that means you're a naughty cheater or have taken a cheated item from someone online. To get rid of the ban, delete your cheated item. If you can't get online after a day, then you've been banned permanently. Sorry. Day bans are only untill 8am the next morning. Q. I am having trouble finding SPECIAL WEAPONS still, what can i do? A. Keep playing and racking up your hours playing and if you see me online I'll dupe some things for you! Q. How do i get the MAgs from version 2 like, ANGEL'S WING, DEVIL'S WING, ELENOR, MASTER SYSTEM, GENESIS, SEGA SATURN, DREAMCAST and PANZER'S TAIL? A. The PANZER TAIL Mag is obtainable by collecting 7 Weapons Bone Badges. I'm not sure as where to get the others yet. But i will update you as Items become "UNBANNED" and where to get them. ******************************************************************************************** ------------------------ /26. Chatting Online / ------------------------ Chatting makes the game worth playing as people are interesting, so you might wanna know a few tips. Press Y to bring up the chat window and use the "Software" keyboard to type something. Press X once (with the chat window open) to see the Word Select options. Press X again to see the different symbol chats. But of course, getting a keyboard makes talking MUCH easier and I highly recommend getting one to fully enjoy the game. Whenever you type something it comes up in a bubble above the player's head. Remember that foul words are censored. A "software" keyboard is very slow for typing and people like asking questions and waiting for you to answer back to them. --Shortcuts You can assign words, phrases, or symbol chats to the D-pad buttons as well as the F1-12 keys on your keyboard (About £20) Here's a few helpful phrases that you may want to use: -Follow me -HELP ME -Do you want to trade? -Want to do a quest? -Thank You -No problem -Stay Behind me -Stay infront of me --Symbol Chat In addition to using Word Select, you can also use "Symbol Chat" - this involves making a face to have a certain meaning. You can also choose from a few words to go along with your face. For example, you can have a smiley face with the word 'Hi' next to it, accompanied with a sound effect. You can also choose face parts and match them up to spell out words - that's especially useful when trying to bypass the language censor. I'm not going to encourage using foul language, but it doesn't even let you say 'idiot'!!! That's annoying. A good thing to do is make a face that says "lv up" or something to congratulate people whenever that happens. --Guild Cards Every player has his or her own card, which works a lot like a business card. You can give your card to people you meet online. Cards can be used to find people the next time you play. You can search for a person and mail a person as long as you have their card. With guild cards you can now search people by their sex, class, and age. You can now sort cards on Ver. 2 (another fault in v1). To do this, highlight the card and select 'Sort' the find another card and hit A. The two cards will switch places on your list. You can have up to 15 pages of cards that can each hold 7 names. The guild card file is the one that takes up 45 blocks on your memory card. --Simple Mail It's just like E-mail! As long as you have a person's card, you can mail him or her. It's like a private chat room, but you can't type much at a time. When you press A to someone's message you can either delete it, reply to it, or search for the person who mailed you. Press B to cancel. You can use a person's card to got to the lobby and SHIP that they are in. (you have to be in a lobby to do this) ******************************************************************************************** -------------------------------------- /27. Hackers and any Bad people online/ -------------------------------------- (PK is a term used by people which means: a way to kill you!!) DON'T GO INTO ROOMS that are not passworded that are called things like FREE ITEMS HERE as they they tend to change your character into one of the ones from the game take your items and disconnect you. DON'T TRUST ANYONE WHO: A. is on Version 1 (Most version 1 characters have a PK code so its easy to PK you) B. goes to the forest when other areas are open C. has different coloured writting D. doesn't send you they're card Many people i have met that PK people are: MATRIX GOKU SAIN NOL KIREEK MEGASMART (blank name) anyone with /_\K after their name CHEF KING ARTHUR DARKBISHOP 'SN' +++ Most people with the same name as characters in the game written in capitals i.e. NOL, KIREEK, SHINO AND REMEMBER don't trust anyone online unless you know them!!!!! (try and make friends in the lobbies to have a nice friendly game) To make sure people won't PK you: 1. Ask them! (not a very good of deciding) 2. Make them send you their card, (because people with cheats on can't send their card out) There are different types of bad people out there: THE PK'ER: Uses a spell to kill you, usually grants, resta or megid! Sometimes they have no life but still walk around. Signs: they want you to go to the forest really badly. Wants you to equip your best weapon to see what it looks like. They are usually level 100 or higher. What to do: RUN!!! unequip your weapons and pray. THE DELETER: Drops money in the lobby and uses magic in the lobby or ship! This will make your PSO file corrupt and unable to play. This usually ruins all the other files on your VM. Signs: They drop money in the lobby (Black money) Use magic on the ship and in the lobby. What to do: don't pick the money up and get out of there. THE GATECRASHER: Comes into your "passworded" party without being invited and not knowing anyone there Because they have cheats on to do this, they PK people instantly with no warning. Signs: They come into a passworded game. What to do: Either: Dive into any area i.e. mines or caves or Hide and don't drop a telepipe for them, then give them the wrong area you are in and then run through the portal into the lobby. THE CARD-K'ER: Will keep pestering you and your friends for your cards then they will PK you. Signs: continually ask for you cards What to do: Not a big threat really, so just ignore them or go back to the lobby. THE FREEZER: Will continually go in and out of the lobby into your game in order to crash your Dreamcast. Signs: will keep entering and exiting the game What to do: just leave the game and go into the lobby. THE GHOST: will walk through walls and doors without them opening. signs: They will walk through walls What to do: They are usually pretty nice people so they don't really pose a threat, apart from maybe killing the boss before you get to it and stealing crates. THE TRAPPER: will drop telepipes anywhere and if you go through it you will loose your game and file. (they do not have a name to where they go, and are placed in places where they cannot possibly dropped. Signs: Telepipes are placed anywhere with no name. What to do: just don't go through them and always use your own pipes! THE HUNTER: an Android that will keep dropping traps next to you in order to kill you and steal your weapon: Signs: will drop traps next to you What to do: keep away from them and keep healing. THE BSOD'ER: Will stop your character from moving Signs: your character will stop moving but you can still talk and pick up items other characters will also be moving too. THE DC KILLER: A character will come up to you and demand all your items! then make threats at you to kill off your DC! Suddenly your screen goes black and text appears on the screen, in green monotype: "Hello, Neo. Follow the white rabbit." Your Dreamcast unit then shuts off and and will only allow you to play Barry White CD's backwards. You walk into your kitchen, and your microwave will no longer fully re-heat burritos and explodes, scorching every bag of popcorn you have. Your phone rings and on the line a voice asks "What's your favorite scary video game, Sydney?" You run outside screaming and your dog has been killed in a freak ping-pong ball accident. Signs: will make weird threats to your DC! What to do: give in to them or SCREAM loudly jump up and down on your Dreamcast then take it back and get a new DC and new PSO game. Then cry. ******************************************************************************************** --------------- /28.
