You take on the role of a man named Tommy, a young Cherokee who is eager to cut his roots and set out into the world. Unfortunately, during one seemingly normal night at the Roundhouse bar, Earth is attacked by aliens who want to annihilate every living thing on the planet. Sure, Prey doesn't have the most original storyline, but it executes the scenario very well. Prey's storyline is arguably one of the best seen in any FPS to date. This guide was written based on my experiences with the Xbox 360 version of Prey. It can still, however, be used in conjunction with the PC version of the game, just ignore all of the mention of achievements and any reference to the buttons on the Xbox 360 controller. As far as I know, the presence of achievements in the Xbox 360 version and the control schemes of the two diffe- rent versions of the game are the only real differences, so using this guide with the PC version should be fine. I suggest that you do not read too far ahead, as this guide does CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS! I have implemented a search system that I highly suggest you utilize. It is very simple to use and it will make your time navigating this guide a whole lot easier. To use it, simply press [Ctrl]+[F] to bring up the Find menu. Use the table of contents and type in the corresponding code for the section that you want to jump to. Each quest sub-section has its own table of contents that contains a list of all of the quests in that section as well. I hope you can find the answers you are looking for... now on to the FAQ! ------\======================================================================= [*02] \ - The Basics - --------\===================================================================== -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ - Controls [b01] -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ O================O===========================================================O | - Button - | - Function - | O================O===========================================================O | R Trigger | Use weapon's primary function. | |----------------+-----------------------------------------------------------| | L Trigger | Use weapon's secondary function. | |----------------+-----------------------------------------------------------| | R Bumper | Switch to weapon in next inventory slot. | |----------------+-----------------------------------------------------------| | L Bumper | Switch to weapon in previous inventory slot. | |----------------+-----------------------------------------------------------| | L Thumbstick | Move character. Not much to say about this one really. This weapon is found during the first level of the game "Last Call," it is found on the bar counter. The Wrench has two different types of attacks: The standard attack(pulling the right trigger) allows you to quickly swing the wrench if you continuously tap the right trigger. The second attack(press and hold down on the left trigger) allows you to bring down a powerful swing to bludgeon the enemy. In single player, you should only consider using the wrench at times when you find yourself completely out of ammo in all of your guns, or if you're trying to conserve ammo for an upcoming boss fight. The wrench works well against Fodder and normal Hunters, but against anything else you'll have a tough time. In multiplayer, you will always have a wrench in your inventory. The wrench can be useful in some situations, but you have to act fast with it if your opponent is using a gun. If you can get someone stuck in a corner and confuse them, you can probably take them out with the wrench. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - HUNTER RIFLE - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| The Hunter Rifle is the first gun that you find during the single player game, and you always start off with it when you spawn during a multiplayer match. The hunter rifle isn't the most powerful weapon when using its stand- and fire, but the hunter rifle really shines when you use it as a sniper rifle. Press the left trigger to look through the rifle's scope. While looking through the scope, use the left and right bumpers to zoom in and out respectively. While you are using the hunter rifle as a sniper rifle, it will require more ammunition unfortunately. In single player, this weapon will be very useful to you throughout the levels. You will probably find, as you progress further, that you are only using the hunter rifle for its sniper function. The hunter rifle is the only weapon in Prey that has a scope, so you have to use this weapon if you want to stand a chance against enemy snipers. In multiplayer, the hunter rifle is a little harder to use as a sniper rifle due to all of the lag that you are sure to experience. You can usually catch people off guard, if they're running towards you while you have the rifle out, quickly enter sniper mode and shoot them. One hit is usually enough to kill or bring them down to an inch of health. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - CRAWLERS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Crawlers are the grenades in Prey. You can usually find crawlers during the single player mode on the ground throughout the levels. Crawler grenades have two different modes: Standard grenade mode(press the right trigger or the 'X' button while you have another weapon out) and proximity mode(press the left trigger, then throw the crawler.) While in proximity mode, a thrown crawler will stick to whatever it is thrown at, even people. When you throw them normally, they will bounce around until the explode, making it relatively hard to get a kill this way unless the enemy is in an enclosed area. Crawlers work well during boss battles, as you can throw them while they are set to proximity and they will stick to them, causing a fair amount of damage. In multiplayer, crawlers can be quite effective when used correctly. While in proximity mode, as mentioned before, you can throw the crawlers at someone and they will stick to that person. You can throw them in front of you when you're running from an opponent, you may be able to catch them off guard as they chase after you. If you place them in strategic locations, you may be able to catch someone off guard as well. Crawlers thrown using the right trigger or the 'X' button in enclosed spaces can also be effective if you're lucky. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - SPIRIT BOW - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| The Spirit Bow is the weapon that you use while Spirit Walking. In single player, you first get the spirit bow in the "Rites of Passage" level. While in spirit form, you can use the bow to damage some enemies. It isn't partic- ularily powerful, but you can possibly pick off a few hunters before they realize that you're in the area. You can only use the spirit bow as long as your spirit health is full. Each time you shoot an arrow, the spirit meter will fall. Once your spirit meter has been completely depleted, you will not be able to use the bow anymore, but you can still spirit walk. Getting hit by enemies will also lower your spirit gauge. Spirit walking of course, will help solve puzzles, walk right through forcefields, over spirit bridges and much more. Just make sure that you spirit walk in a safe place away from enemies, you're body will be vulnerable and as soon as you are hit you will return to it. In multiplayer you can also spirit walk. This isn't quite as useful as it is in single player, but you can still use it when in the right situation. For example, if you are alone in a room(such as the bathroom in Roundhouse), you can spirit walk through the door to scout ahead, possibly killing an approac- hing opponent. In multiplayer however, you can only stay in spirit form for a limited amount of time, as the spirit meter continuously drops while you are spirit walking. When the spirit meter is completely depleted, you will be unable to spirit walk. You can recharge your spirit meter by picking up the energy of fallen enemies or by picking up spirit bags in multiplayer. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - LEECH GUN - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| The Leech Gun is a relatively powerful weapon. You first find one near the end of the "Second Chances" level during the single player game. The leech gun is slightly different then the other weapons in the game, different as in the way that you recharge it. You will not find ammo pickups for the leech gun anywhere, instead there are special leech gun stations mounted on the walls or ceilings throughout the levels. This is where the leech gun's left trigger function is used. When you encounter one of these leech gun stations, take out the leech gun if it isn't out already and aim towards the station. Hold down the left trigger to suck in all of the energy from the station. Continue holding down on the left trigger until the weapon is compl- etely recharged. There are four different types of leech gun stations that you can find in the game. The most common one is the plasma leech gun station. You're leech gun is initially charged with plasma energy when you first pick it up. It's the leech gun station with the red energy emitting from it. Another type is the electricity leech gun station, the electricity energy that can be taken from these stations is very powerful. It is however slightly difficult to hit something with this kind of fire and it depletes very quickly. Aim well or stand close to your target if you want your shot to connect. The frost leech gun stations are arguably the least useful, as you have to get relatively close to your enemy for it to be effective. The final type of leech gun station that you will encounter in Prey is the sun beam station. This is the strongest type of leech gun ammo you can get. When used, a large beam will shoot out of the cannon, damaging anything in its path. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - AUTOCANNON - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| The AutoCannon is a powerful weapon. The AutoCannon is first found during your first boss battle with the Centurion during the "Sacrifices" level. This weapon's right trigger attack is a standard machine gun fire and the left trigger attack is a grenade launcher. The AutoCannon is effective against most enemies and the grenades can be useful against some of the bosses. Basically, when you're facing off against a big enemy, hold down the right trigger and tap the left trigger. This will take almost anything down with relative ease. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - ACID SPRAYER - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| The Acid Sprayer is a powerful weapon, depending on how close you are to your target when you shoot them. The acid sprayer, as the name implies, spits out acid towards whatever it is aimed towards. Akin to the blast sent out by a shotgun, the acid will cover a large area. The acid sprayer is effective against most enemies in the single player mode, it is especially effective against the lesser hunters if you are standing close to them and the acid hits them straight on. The acid sprayer's left trigger attack launches an exploding ball of acid, it does take awhile to reload the weapon after using this attack however. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - CRAWLER LAUNCHER - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| This is Prey's rocket launcher. You can find this weapon during the "Follow- ing Her" level of the single player mode. The crawler launcher has two functions, one being the standard crawler launcher(press the right trigger) and the other function(using the left trigger) creates a cloud in front of you that acts as a shield against enemy fire and explosive. Anything that is shot into the shield will be absorbed, be careful because this applies to you as well. The shield doesn't stay up for long, but this function will be invaluable when you are up against explosive using opponents. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ - Enemies [b03] -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - HUNTERS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Hunters are the standard FPS enemies in Prey. They are the bipedal, rifle wielding enemies that you will encounter during most of the levels. Luckily, these guys aren't very powerful and can be taken out with almost any weapon. These enemies can get a little crafty, however. Sometimes they will throw crawlers towards you or throw flying projectiles that home in on you. They also make use of the hunter rifle's sniper function, using it to knock off large portions of your health and possibly killing you from a distance. When facing off against these hunter snipers, you'll just have to find some cover and use your own hunter rifle to pick them off before they can kill you. Their are two types of hunters: The lesser hunters that you see during the first have of the game and the greater hunters that you sometimes encounter during the second half. The Elite Hunters are a little hardier, but they act in the same manner as the lesser hunters for the most part. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - FODDER - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Just as this enemy's name implies, these guys are ridiculously weak and serve as nothing more than a minor distraction from the bigger, tougher enemies. Fodder are the first enemies that you encounter in the single player game, and for good reason too since they are so ridiculously weak. Any weapon can be used to take these enemies out quickly, an left trigger swing and one quick right trigger swing with the wrench will kill them. Fodder are melee enemies, so they might catch you off guard sometimes, but the damage they deal is so miniscule it doesn't really make a difference. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - HOUNDS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Hounds are essentially bigger, stronger, faster versions of the fodder. They run at you and attack with their claws, which can deal a relatively large amount of damage. The strategy to use against these guys is the same as the strategies that you would use against any melee enemy, back up while they are running towards you and fire away. You will usually encounter hounds in areas with hunters, serving as a much bigger distraction than the fodder. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - MUTILATED HUMANS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Mutilated Humans are only a threat to you if you directly disturb them while they are working on whatever monotonous task they have been assigned to. If you shoot them or touch them they will turn on you. If you are in area and there are a bunch of them, unless they are standing in front of a touch screen monitor that you need to use, there is no reason to kill them. If you do disturb them, you will find that there attacks are very weak. They will only use melee attack, so just back up away from the and blast at them until they go down. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - GASPLANTS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| You will only encounter these flying enemies a couple of times during the single player mode. They are giant flying balls of gas basically. When killed, acid will rain down from them. Because of this, make sure that you are not standing under this enemy when you kill them. Any weapon should be able to take these guys out fairly easily. The only attack that they have is hovering over you, grabbing you and rendering you incapacitated, hoisting you up into the air and then finally dropping and slashing you. This deals a relatively large amount of damage, so try your best to stay away from them. You will encounter these enemies while you are flying in the shuttle, be careful when you shoot them, make sure you are a good distance away from them to avoid damage to the shuttle. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - DRONES - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Drones are, in my opinion, one of the most annoying enemies in Prey. They are the obligatory flying enemy which always seem to be extra annoying in first person shooters. When you have to fight these guys outside of a shuttle things can get rather hectic. They fire plasma energy from their cannons which deals a fair amount of damage. When there are two or more drones in the same area, it makes things a whole lot worse. The acid sprayer is a good weapon to use against these guys, if you can manage to get close enough to them to get a good shot in. Explosives area also an option, but things are much easier if you battle these flying enemies in a shuttle, which you will most often have to. While in the shuttle, use the left trigger to attach the drone to the tractor beam. Now, with the drone directly in your sight, fire the cannons and destroy the thing. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - HARVESTERS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Harvesters are the enemies that you will have to face most often during the second half of the game. There are two types of harvesters: The crawling variation and the flying variation. The flying, in my opinion, is the most annoying out of these two. The harvesters use crawler launchers, so as you can imagine this can make things rather tough. For the flying harvesters, you can use explosive weapons such as the crawler launcher to take them out easily. If you destroy the harvester's lower body, it will fall to the ground, watch out because the flying ones explode. The crawling harvesters are rather annoying as well, since they will usually use their crawler launcher to bring up a cloud when you throw explosives their way. A good weapon to use against any of these harvesters is the crawler launcher simply for the cloud shield that you can create with the left trigger. It will protect you against their attacks, preventing you from taking massive damage or getting killed by them. |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - MUTATES - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Mutates are giant, mutated humans. They've been fused with some sort of monster, which explains their grisly appearance. Mutates are melee enemies, but unlike the fodder and hounds, you can't really out run them by backing up. They are very fast, they will charge at you and swing their scythe-like appendages at you. You will only face these guys once or twice during the single player game, fortunately. The best thing to do is dodge to the side when they charge towards you. If you're lucky, the monster's scythe will get stuck in the ground, allowing you to get a ton of free shots in. Of course, with one or more mutates in the area, things aren't this easy... |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| |+|-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-| - CENTURIONS - |-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-|+| |+|~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~o-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=o~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~|+| Centurions are massive, hulking enemies that you will encounter more than once in Prey. The first time you encounter a Centurion is during the first boss battle in the game. The next few times you encounter Centurions, they won't be quite as tough as the boss battle version. These guys have two Auto- Cannons as hands, which of course makes them formidable opponents. Try to find some cover or some higher ground when facing centurions, because their AutoCannon fire is rapid and it will quickly drain your health if you're out in the open. Crawlers as well as anything explosive is good to use against the centurions. ------\======================================================================= [*03] \ - Walkthrough - --------\===================================================================== O============================================================================O |...Last Call.........................................................[m01]..| O============================================================================O Prey starts of with the hero, Tommy, belittling himself in front of a mirror in the restroom of a bar. Little does he realize, whatever his problems are now, things are about to get much, much worse. Once you gain control of the main character, there really isn't anything you can do in the back area of the reservation. Leave the restroom and attempt to enter the main area of the bar. Tommy's Grandfather, Enisi, will stop to have a short talk with you, when he is finished speaking you are free to exit into the main area of the bar. As you are probably aware, there are three secret achievements in Prey. All of these achievements can be unlocked by playing and winning/scoring a certain amount of money/points on the game machines in the bar. You can find these machines to the left of the main bar area. There is a Black Jack, Poker, slot, and Runeman machine. You can't get an achievement for playing the slot machine, so don't even bother. To unlock the Black Jack achievement, you must win over $250 dollars using the Black Jack machine. To unlock the Retro Gamer achievement, you need to score over 15,000 points on the Runeman arcade machine. Essentially a Pac-Man clone. Poker Face, the other secret achieve- ment, can be unlocked much more easily at another point in the game, so don't bother with that one now. If you are out to unlock achievements, you'll want to take the time to play these games and earn the amount of points needed to unlock these secret achievements. A tip for Black Jack: If you are having trouble winning over 250 dollars using the machine legitly, wait until you have a decent amount of credits(50 or more) and then save your game. Bet as many credits as you have, if you lose simply load your last save game. If you win, save your game once more. Repeat this process until the achievement is unlocked. Sure, the loading times make this a very tedious process, but if you aren't very good at Black Jack, this is definitely an option you should consider. [Black Jack, achieved!] [Retro Gamer, achieved!] When you are ready to continue, shuffle over to the counter and speak to Jen. You've got a weapon now, a wrench. Not a particularly powerful weapon, but it will have to do for now. After Jen is done speaking, approach Enisi who is seated by the counter. Once you have spoken to Jen again, the men at the bar will start to give her trouble. This is where Tommy, eager to impress his love interest, steps in. Here's your first taste of combat, you've got a wrench and they've got their fists. They will go down easily, you can press and hold down the Left Trigger to release a powerful smash with the wrench that you are using. After the short skirmish, the invasion begins. There is nothing you can do but watch as the aliens destroy the bar and capture everyone inside. [1: Last Call, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Escape Velocity...................................................[m02]..| O============================================================================O There's nothing you can do at this point but hang there helplessly as the machines haul you around the alien station. Eventually, a strange person will meddle with the machine, imminently breaking you free and throwing you to the ground below. Once you are free, proceed straight ahead. Crouch down and pass into the next area. The small creatures here that will attack you are called fodder. They are very easily dealt with while using any weapon, even your wrench. One LT swing and a quick regular RT swing of your wrench will take these guys right out. You will come to a closed door, to the left of this door is a touch screen, move the crosshair over it and press RT to open the door. Nothing but a couple of fodder in this area, locate the small entrance to the next area, crouch and walk through it. Crouch and move through the small door in the middle of the room, then turn around and move through it again to enter a whole new area. Pretty cool, eh? You'll see lot's of things like this in Prey. Move down these hallways until you come to another one of those door ways. Move behind it, crouch down and enter the new area. The door right in front of you will open when you approach it and a few fodder will come through. It is dark in this area, so as the game suggests, press down on the Right Thumbstick to turn on the lighter. You will see Jen again in one of the next areas, continue moving through these rooms until you see Enisi and you can't proceed. At this point, you will witness the grisly death of Enisi. The bars that were previously blocking your path will retract and a blue-illuminated portal will open. Step through this portal to move onto the next level. [2: Escape Velocity, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Downward Spiral...................................................[m03]..| O============================================================================O Look to your left in this area and you should be able to see another touch screen monitor. Approach the device, focus the crosshair on the screen and press the Right Trigger. Climb up the ramp in this area and turn to your left. Get your wrench ready, because you will encounter your first hunter in this area. This one is quite weak, just knock him a few times with the wrench and he'll go down. Grab his weapon when he is dead, now you finally have a gun to use. This is the rifle, not a very powerful weapon but it serves its purpose in the time that it is required. This weapon can also act as a sniper rifle, press and hold down on the Left Trigger to use the scope, the Left and Right Bumpers are used to zoom in and out respectively. It's a very effective weapon as a sniper rifle, but each shot consumes more ammo. Step through the strange opening into the next area where you will encounter another hunter, giving you a chance to try out your new rifle. Don't bother stepping through the portal that he stepped through, instead turn right. Focus the crosshair on the touch screen monitor and press RT to disable the energy shield. Step through, the door on the catwalk ahead cannot be opened, so turn to your right and jump down to the area below. This area contains a small blocked pit and an explosive, round object. Push against the round object and move it over the blocked pit. While it is on top of the pit, step back and shoot it until it explodes. When it explodes, the material blocking the pit will evaporate, allowing you to proceed. As you move through the next area, another portal will open up and a hunter will jump out. Kill the hunter, then look to your left. There is another hunter on the platform opposite, go into sniper mode with your rifle and take him out with a quick headshot. Go through the door at the end of the catwalk, you can open the small ammo container mounted on the wall to your left to take some additional ammunition for your rifle. Exit back to the previous area and locate the small space in the railing. Jump down to the area below, you will find a couple of Crawlers here, walk over them to pick them up. These are basically Prey's version of the grenade. While they aren't terribly useful in Prey's single player, you can still use them against some enemies to get an easy kill. You can press the 'X' button to throw them while you have another weapon out. While you have the crawlers out, you can press the Left Trigger to set them to proximity mode, but this function is quite useless in single player. Approach the blue illuminated walkway here, you will encounter these walkways frequently in Prey, so get used to it. While stepping on these walkways, you are attached to them. This meaning, you can follow them to whichever location they lead to, even if the path that they take is on the ceiling of the room you are currently in. While using one of these walkways, if you are hanging upside down don't jump, you will become detached from the walkway and fall down to whatever waits below. Anyway, follow the walkway up to the higher level, you can pick up some additional crawlers and some rifle ammo in the corner to your left here. There is a fodder in this area, and as you proceed a portal will open and a couple of hunters will step through. You can probably manage to take them both out with a couple of quick headshots as soon as you see them. Step onto the blue illuminated walkway, this time this one will lead you up onto the ceiling. Just remember, don't jump while you are hanging upside down! A couple of hunters will appear as you follow the walkway, so remain cautious. At one point, you should be able to spot a couple of fodder feeding on a corpse to your right, you can take them out while hanging upside down to avoid any resistance from them. There is a ammo container mounted on the wall as well as a health panel on the floor that you can use in this room. Move to the end of this area, a box will fall down and a fodder will jump out into the area. Once it is dead, crouch down and go through the box into the next area. Notice the small planet in the glass case to your right as you enter the room and go through the container straight ahead. Just continue heading forward until you drop down a hole and into the next area. This catwalk leads to another portal, step through and try your best to avoid the spitting things on the wall and the floor. On the next catwalk, you will encounter a mutilated human, these enemies usually won't attack you unless the monotonous task that they are performing is interrupted. Moving forward, you'll witness a survivor being attacked by a hunter. Step through the two doors, be cautious as in this are you will encounter a few enemies. One hunter and a couple of hounds. Hounds are, essentially, greater versions of the fodder. They deal more damage and can take a greater amount of damage, just continuously back up while they are approaching you and continue shooting. There is another ammo container mounted on the wall in this next area. Go through the door here and you will find yourself in a relatively large area. Locate the touch screen monitor here and press it. Once it is activated, turn to your right and step onto the blue illuminated walkway. Ignore the hunters that spawn on the floor below and continue following the walkway until you reach the end of the line. In this next room you will find several mutilated humans, you don't need to kill them as they aren't likely to attack you. Find one of the explosive, round objects in this room and push it towards the door in this room that is covered with a strange material. Destroy the explosive object once it is near the door and the material will be disappear. Step into the next area and take out the hunter that appears. In the next area, you will see a unsteady looking suspended bridge, run across it and grab the rifle ammo on the platform opposite and then jump back onto the bridge. Some enemies will appear and begin shooting at the bridge. It soon fall down, taking you with it. [3: Downward Spiral, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Rites of Passage..................................................[m04]..| O============================================================================O You will appear in a strange land, proceed forward and step through the brick wall once it removes itself. When you reach the fire, you will encounter Enisi, who explains that you are in the land of the ancients. After the old man is finished speaking, follow Talon over to the doorway in the distance. Step through it and follow the path until you reach a brick wall. You will hear Enisi's voice, he tells you that a test awaits you behind this door. Behind this door you will find some flames, which you can't get past in your regular form. After Enisi is done explaining, press the 'Y' button to enter Spirit Form. While in spirit form, you can freely move past the flames. When you are on the other side, focus the crosshair on the totem and press the Right Trigger to activate it. After this is done, press the 'Y' button again to return to your body. After Enisi is done speaking, step through the next door once it removes itself. In this area you will see a bow surrounded by flames, enter spirit form and step through the flames. Touch the bow to take it and then return to your body. The bow is the weapon that Tommy can use to damage enemies while in spirit form. You will need to use the spirit walk in many different situations. It is also helpful to use if you want to scout ahead and take out a couple of enemies. Now at this point in the game, things become really easy combat wise. From now on, if you ever die, you will be transported back to the land of the ancients where you will have to complete a short bow and arrow "mini-game." Each red spirit you hit will replenish Tommy's health and each blue spirit you hit will replenish his spirit. This essentially makes it so that you never get a game over. This aspects makes the game WAY too easy, which is slightly upsetting for those of us looking for a challenge... [4: Rites of Passage, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Second Chances....................................................[m05]..| O============================================================================O The mysterious voice will enter Tommy's head speak to you again. After it is done speaking, push the round, explosive object in this room over the hole that is covered by the strange material. Back away and shoot the explosive object a few times. When it explodes, you are free to step forward and fall down the hole. You will encounter another energy shield as you move forward, the switch to deactivate it is on the opposite side this time. It is in situations like this that spirit walking becomes essential. Go into spirit form and walk through the energy shield, press the touch screen monitor to deactivate the energy shield, then return to your body. There are a few fodder in the distance, you should be able take them out from where you are without taking any damage. From now on Talon, your spirit guide, will follow you through the levels. Talon will land on points of interest such as touch screen monitors. Talon will also allow you to decipher the strange alien text that you see on the monitors in the station while he is perched on a monitor containing this text. Head straight, turn left and go through the door here. You'll come to another energy shield here, enter your spirit form and use the touch screen monitor denoted to the forcefield to deactivate it. Why not take out the hunter with your bow here as well. If the blue illuminated walkway in this room is disabled, use the touch screen monitor to the left of it to turn it on. As you move forward, some portals will appear and hunters will jump out, so remain vigilant. When you get to the end of the walkway, do not jump off! Stay right where you are, hanging over the small platform below. While hanging upside down at the end of the walkway over the platform, go into spirit form. Follow the catwalk, walk through the forcefield and activate the touch screen monitor. When you have used the touch screen monitor, return to your body. The switch that you pressed while in spirit form will move the piece of walkway that you are standing on across the pit. When it has attached itself to the other walkway, follow this walkway back to the ground. Go up the stairs and through the door to the left. In this room, you will find the Leech Gun. This is a relatively powerful weapon, even more so depending on what you leech into it. If you notice any leech gun stations mounted on the wall, take out your leech gun, aim towards the stations and hold down the left trigger to suck in the energy to use it as ammunition. There are different flavors of stations that you can use to recharge your leech gun. Right now it is on the standard plasma ammunition. Several hunters will spawn in your current area, allowing you to test out the weapon that you have just acquired. Go through the door that opened once the room is clear, you will see one of the aforeme- ntioned leech stations on the wall here. You can use your rifle to destroy the harmful tentacles on the ground here. At the end of this path, you will witness a rather disturbing scene involving the two children in the blocked area here. After the incident, move into the room. Exit this room through the passage here. If you want, you can use the leech station in this area to take in the frost ammo, but I suggest staying with plasma as you need to get relatively close for the frost to be effective. Go down the stairs past the leech gun station and run to your right. You will see two boxes, go through the one to your right, the one that you do not see a mirror image of Tommy in. You find yourself in a gravity changing room. To switch the gravity in this room, use your rifle to shoot one of the small glowing green panels on the walls. Your goal is to get onto the small platform that is behind you, it should be right behind you if you haven't turned since you entered this area. Shoot the glowing green panel above this platform, the room will shift and a small orange illuminated portal will open up. Following the catwalk in this next area, you will meet plenty of resistance. You need to be careful here, as there are hunters who will use the sniper function on their rifles, as well as some hunters who will throw some crawler grenades towards you. You can tell that a sniper has his eye on you when you see the red laser darting around the room. Take cover behind some boxes and use your own sniper rifle to take out the sniping hunters on the platform at the opposite end of this area. At the end of this catwalk, fall down the hole onto the platform below. Here, look up to the ceiling above you, shoot the glowing green gravity panel to switch the gravity. Move to the end of this area, stand so you are right hugging up against the strange slimy object. Shoot the gravity panel on the wall to your left here to switch the gravity. Move to the end of this area, be certain that you are standing on small blood covered iron panels. Shoot the gravity panel in the area above. If you were standing in the right area, you should be able to move along the small platforms and hop over to the hallway. You'll find, strangely, what is left of the bar. There are some hunters down below that you will have to fight, take a couple of them out from where you are. When you are ready to go down, look to the counter on the right side of the bar, aim and shoot the green glowing gravity panel to switch the gravity. Jump down to the bar area below, you will have to fight all of the hunters that will spawn in here before you can leave. There are some leech stations mounted on the walls around here, as well as some health panels behind the counter. Some of the hunters will spawn on a higher level in the bar and act as snipers, so keep an eye on the wooden platform on the left side of this room so you can take them out as soon as they appear. When they stop spawning a portal will open and it will stay open, allowing you to walk through it and proceed. Don't shoot! That's you... A blue portal will open up right in front of you, step through it to end the level. [5: Second Chances, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...All Fall Down.....................................................[m06]..| O============================================================================O In the proceeding area you will meet up with Jen, there is nothing you can do here so proceed through the circular door. Locate the wallwalk activation touch screen monitor and use it to activate the wallwalk if it is disabled. Talon should lead you to it, it is a monitor mounted on the wall. Take out the hunter that spawns below as soon as possible, as he will quickly move towards the wallwalk activation touch screen in an attempt to deactivate it. Follow the wallwalk all the way into the next area. You will encounter several fodder in this area. There is another door being blocked by that strange material, as well as the explosive round object that you can use to remove the material so you can proceed. Push the object towards the door, back up and shoot at it a few times to remove the material. Go into spirit form and step through the forcefield, locate the mounted touch screen monitor and switch it off. Return to your body and proceed forward. You will meet a hunter in this area, so be cautious. Turn right from the door that you used to enter this room, follow the path here and turn left as soon as you can. A few more hunters in this area, nothing you aren't used to already. Enter the small doorway at the end of the walkway. Quickly turn to your right and take out the hound that is at the end there. Head straight, maneuver yourself past the pipes and fall down the hole into the area below. Switch on your lighter and follow this path until you reach the next big area. After you fall down the hole, you will have to fight off a hound, as well as a couple of hunters on the platform opposite. When the area is clear, look to the ceiling and shoot the glowing green gravity panel to switch the gravity in the area. Move so that you are standing over the platform that the two hunters were standing on and fire the gravity panel on the ceiling. Hit the two switches, follow the path to the left. You can find the poker machine from the bar here, this machine is basically rigged so that you can win over 250 dollars to unlock the achievement, so if you don't have this secret achievement yet, take the time now to unlock it. Just fiddle around with the machine and the achievement should be unlocked. [Poker Face, achieved!] Grab any ammo in this room and exit back through the portal that you came from. Move straight through this room, the platform that you are standing on will act as an elevator. It's a slow ride up. When the elevator reaches its destination, take the ammo from the mounted ammo container on the wall to your left and move through the door straight ahead. Look to the ceiling and hit the green glowing gravity switch here. Fall through the orange portal on this level. Locate the central, blood-covered platform in this area. Here, you will have to face off against a legion of... children! Relax Mr. Thompson, they're ghost children, and it's just a game! There are a couple of leech gun stations mounted on the wall that will allow you to load up your leech gun with plasma ammo. You must stand your ground in this area and fight off the ghost children that attack you. Plasma seems to work well on them, just spin around the platform and attack any of them that climb on, while trying your best to avoid the projectiles that they launch towards you. When the ghost children have stopped spawning, locate the small opening in the wall, crouch down and move into the next area. Once again, you will hear the mysterious voice. Once it is finished speaking to you, a blue portal will open up, step through it to finish the level. [6: All Fall Down, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Crash Landing.....................................................[m07]..| O============================================================================O You begin this level behind a forcefield, you know what to do. Go into spirit form, move straight through the forcefield. Turn to your right and deactivate the forcefield via the touch screen monitor mounted on the pillar. Return to your body and clear out all of the hunters in this room. There is a mounted security turret on the ceiling in this room, so be careful. As soon as you see the multi-colored turrets, turn towards the turret and shoot it until it explodes. Your bullets will not damage the turret unless it is active and out of its metal casing. Once the hunters have stopped appearing in this room, locate the mounted touch screen monitor that will open a path for you and use it. Stand on the forcefield here, go into your spirit form and you will fall right through. Follow the walkway and use the touch screen monitor ahead to deactivate the forcefield, allowing your body to fall onto this level. Return to your body and move forward. Quickly take out the hunter that spawns on the platform above, then the one that appears below him. There is a mounted leech station that you can use to charge your leech gun with electricity. This is a very strong ammo for your leech gun, but you do have to aim well for the shot to connect. Leech the electricity and jump down past the pipes and into the area below. Kill the two hounds with the leech gun, a couple of floating gasplant will appear. The electricity stored in the leech gun will make short work of them and they are big targets, making them hard to miss. These enemies will attempt to fly over you and take hold, rendering you incapacitated. There are several mounted leech gun stations containing electricity in this area if you need to recharge your weapon, as the electricity runs out fairly quickly. The gas that these creature emit upon their death is damaging, so try you best not to kill one while it is hovering right above you. Some portals will open up on a platform with a couple of hunters acting as snipers. Quickly take them out with your own sniper rifle to avoid death, though death really isn't that bad of a thing in this game. Climb up the set of stairs leading up to the platform that sits right next to the platform with the orange portal. While standing on this platform, go into spirit form and walk up the bridge that appears while in this form. Use the touch screen monitor to lower the elevator that you are standing on. Return to your body and move onto the elevator, use the touch screen to raise yourself to the higher platform. Step through the orange portal and into the next area. Your path is quickly blocked by some bars, locate the gravity panel on the wall in this area, and shoot it. Move through the gap in the bars, move down to the very bottom of this area and shoot the gravity panel on the floor above. Some fodder will appear, take them out and use the touch screen next to the forcefield to deactivate it. You can take the rifle ammo from the mounted ammunition container on the wall in the area past the door. Stay in this main area and go into spirit form. Go past the doorway and hit the switch while in spirit form and then return to your body form. The small room that you were in will shift over to another area. Step out into this new area, you will encounter a couple of mutilated humans and a mounted security turret on the ceiling above the door at the end of the area. Clear the room and go through the doorway. You can recharge your leech gun via the mounted leech gun station in this room. Straight ahead there is a panel above the pipes blocked off by a forcefield. Hop up the pipes in spirit form and look at the monitor in this area. Though you cannot normally read the strange alien text, since Talon is with you, it will translate itself while you look at the monitor. The monitor displays a series of four numbers, memorize this code and return to your body. Locate the doorway with the touch screen monitor next to it, here is where you will need to enter the code that you observed on the monitor in that room. Use the touch screen to enter the combination of numbers. When the correct combinat- ion of numbers has been entered, the door next to the monitor will open. In this room there is another mounted security turret straight across from you, the leech gun loaded with electricity should be able to destroy it with one hit while it is active and out of its metal casing. Stand over the pit in the middle of this room and enter spirit form. Walk across the visible bridge over the pit. Look to the ceiling once you are on the opposite side and shoot the gravity panel that is in the hole. The gravity in the room will switch, return to your body and locate and fall through the hole in the floor if you haven't already. Follow this path to the end, at the end look up to the ceiling and shoot the gravity panel above. Step through the door now that you are on the opposite side, in this room you will find a couple of mounted leech gun stations. I suggest filling up your leech gun using the plasma station, as it will come in handy while you are in the next area. Take the rifle ammo from the mounted ammunition container on the wall and proceed through the door. In this next room you will be facing a couple of hounds and hunters, once the room is clear locate the forcefield blocked passage. While in spirit form, move through the forcefield and activate the switch in here to lower the elevator. Return to your body and place yourself on the elevator, while in position return to your spirit form, step through the forcefield and use the touch screen again. Return to your body once you have used the touch screen, the elevator will bring you up to the higher level in this area. Go through the door once the elevator has reached its destination. There is nothing in this area, move through the door ahead. Move down to the lower level, past the hanging corpses. On the higher level, a passage will rise up, crouch down and enter the next area. This room has a series of wallwalks, your goal is to get on the level that is right above the area that you entered into. Run across the little panels in the middle of the room, follow the wallwalk straight up onto the higher level. There is a mounted security turret as well as a hunter up here, take them out and then use the touch screen to activate the moving wallwalk panels. From your current position, follow the wallwalk down and turn left as soon as you can. Move straight across the series of moving wallwalk panels. You may have to wait until they stop moving, because if you standing or moving over one of the cracks while it is moving up/down, you will fall off. When you have reached the end of the moving wallwalk panels, climb down off of the wallwalk and go through the passage on this higher level. As soon as you enter the next area, the gravity switches around. There are some hunters on the ground below, as well as some mounted security turrets on the ceiling, which you are currently walking on. From the starting posi- tion of this area, head straight and turn left. Go through the box passage here. Kill off the hunters that you can see above and move around the box that you just entered through to find another square passage. Once you step through the passage, you will find that you are finally on the actual floor of this room. There is a door in this room, but you will need to first clear the room of all the hunters. Once they stop spawning, the door will open, some more hunters and a hound will come through. Before stepping through the door, look to the right of it for a monitor that is mounted on the wall. Look at it and a combination of four numbers will appear. Memorize this combination, then step through the door. Take the rifle ammo from the mounted ammunition container on the wall to the right if needed. Approach the touch screen monitor to the right of the door at the end of this room and use it to enter the four digit code. Don't step down from the platform just yet in the next area, look below and you should be able to see some hounds or fodder. Shoot them from above then jump down to the lower level. You will have to fight off some more hounds down here. When the area is clear, locate the wallwalk and activate it via the touch screen monitor to the right of it. Follow the wallwalk into the next area. In this room, use the touch screen to open a blue portal. Step through the portal to end the level. [7: Crash Landing, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Sacrifices........................................................[m08]..| O============================================================================O Move down the hall and clear out any mutilated humans or fodder that stand in your path. At the very end of this hall there is a monitor in the top corner of the wall. Focus on the monitor and you will see a four-digit code. Backtrack to the area that you first appeared in when this level began and locate the touch screen monitor. Enter the four-digit combination of numbers that you observed on the monitor at the end of the series of hallways. The square passage to the right of the monitor will open up, crouch down and walk through it. This area consists of a single walkway, on the side of it there is a single school bus. You can probably guess what is coming up next; yet another fight with the possessed children. Go into spirit form and climb up the visible bridge leading over the canyon. Use the touch screen monitor on the other side to open the passage at the end of the walkway. Not so fast, you can't proceed until you deal with the possessed ghost children. The children will appear on the walkway as well as near the school bus on the side of the walkway. Once they stop spawning, follow the walkway to the end, crouch down and go through the square passage. Follow the series of hallways here, you can find a mounted leech gun station on the walls of one of these hallways. Eventually you will come to a larger room, clear the room of the hunters that spawn here, hit the switch to activate the wallwalk and begin climbing. If you are quick enough, you can manage to kill the hunter that spawns just before he deactivates the wall walk. If not, you will fall down below. Kill the hunter, reactivate the wall- walk and proceed. There is some debris blocking the path of the initially activated wallwalk, so you will need to follow the deactivated one once it is activated, switch over to the other one through the gap and go through the orange portal. In this area you will find some fodder, as well as another one of those round explosive objects. When the room is clear of fodder, push the explosive object near the blocked hole in the ground. Step back, shoot the ball a few time and it will explode, clearing the path. Fall down the now accessible hole in the ground. Follow this path and turn right as soon as you are forced to. You will find a hunter in a pool of blood, as you step over it Tommy will retrieve the hunter's detached hand. You can now use this to open the doors that require hand identification. Approach the hand panel on the wall near the door and use the hand to activate it. Some fodder at the end of the path here, eventually you will find yourself overlooking a fight. +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | B O S S F I G H T!!! - Centurion - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | | | You're moments away from experiencing your first boss battle in Prey. | | Since you can't really experience a game over in Prey, there isn't | | anything to worry about here, but the Centurion does have some heavy | | weapons in his arsenal which can make it rather difficult to accomplish | | your task. As you look on, the human that the giant, hulking Centurion | | is terrorizing, in an attempt to save himself, will jump up and grab on | | to the cage that you are in. This ultimately causes the cage to fall | | down, forcing you to face the giant Centurion. This ironically leads to | | the man's demise. | | | | As you can see the Centurion is a giant monster. He's as deadly as he | | looks, if you stand to close to him he will swipe out at you, knocking | | your health down a great deal. The Centurion uses two AutoCannons, which | | are very powerful weapons. It has a standard machine gun fire, as well | | as a secondary grenade launcher function. It is rather hard to avoid the | | rapid fire from the AutoCannon, if you look in the corner of the room | | you can spot several "safe" areas behind the pillars. In these little | | areas you can find rifle ammo as well as some health spores on the floor | | if you are in need of replenishing. | | | | You can use the pipes as cover, hide behind them and they will absorb | | all of the AutoCannon fire. Try not to stand out in the open unless you | | have to, the Centurion tends to use the grenade launcher on the Auto- | | Cannon if you step out. Crawlers work really well against this guy, if | | you have any in your inventory, take them out. While behind cover, wait | | he stops shooting for a short period, pop out from behind the pipes and | | hurl a crawler towards the beast. While you have the crawlers out, press | | the Left Trigger to switch them to proximity mode. This way, when they | | hit the beast, they will stick to him instead of bouncing off as they | | normally do. If you don't have any crawlers or not a lot of them, you | | just have to use another weapon in the same fashion. If you run out of | | ammo, you will have to step out into the open to find some more rifle | | ammunition behind another set of pipes. | | | | Some fodder will also be present during this battle, they are merely a | | distraction but they can be quite annoying as they run behind the pipes | | to get to you. Continue attacking him until you notice that one of the | | small areas that was previously blocked by a forcefield is now opened. | | You couldn't have really spirit walked through the forcefield while it's | | on to switch it off, as you have to deal with the Centurion constantly | | shooting at you. Run across the room once you notice that the force- | | fields have been shut off and enter the small areas. Hide in the corner, | | the Centurion will approach your area. Stand by the touch screen monitor | | that will activate the forcefield and wait until the beast sticks his | | hand in to try and shoot at you. At this point, use the touch screen to | | activate the forcefield. This will cut off the Centurion's hand, allow- | | ing you to retrieve the AutoCannon. | | | | This gun will make short work of the beast. With the AutoCannon in hand, | | continuously fire at the Centurion while hurling grenades at him with | | the Left Trigger. Watch as the Centurion's health depletes. Step through it, you will encounter some hunters in this next area. Be careful, as some of them are likely to be throwing explosives towards you. Move to the end of the area, use the hand to activate the panel to the right of the wallwalk behind the forcefield. Follow the wallwalk all the way around, as you hang over the ceiling some hunters will spawn on the floor below and some will spawn in your path on the wallwalk. Kill the hunters and continue following the wallwalk until you reach the end. Use the alien hand to open the door via the hand identification panel right next to it. Continue moving forward until you reach the area with the large, spinning blue portal. Use the touch screen monitor in the middle of this room and fight off the hunters and hounds. When the room is clear and enemies stop spawning, the spinning, blue portal will straighten itself out. Step through the portal. Ignore harvester, an enemy that you haven't encountered yet, and move forward until you hear Enisi's voice. This will end the level. [8: Sacrifices, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...There Are Others..................................................[m09]..| O============================================================================O Follow the path to the fireplace and speak to Enisi. After a short conversa- tion, Enisi points you towards the spirit cave, where he claims to have something important to show you. Approach the door and follow the path to the spirit cave. Inside you will see a holographic representation of Jen, showing that she is indeed still alive. After another short conversation, you will be transported back to the alien world. The level ends. [9: There Are Others, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Guiding Fires.....................................................[m10]..| O============================================================================O Run down the hallway, you will find a hunter and a couple of gasplants hovering above. Kill the enemies surrounding this area. The door that you want to go through is blocked off by some lasers. To disable the lasers, thus allowing you to proceed, follow the red wires around the tower. There are two hand identification panels that you need to use the alien hand on to disable the lasers. You can find an ammo container mounted on the back of the tower that contains some ammunition for your AutoCannon. Once you have deactivated the laser grid blocking the door, step into the elevator. There is a touch screen monitor in here that will allow you to move between the three floors of the tower. You are currently on the first floor. Unless you are looking for some addition ammo for your weapons, there is no need to ride the eleven- torn up to the third floor. On the second floor of the tower, you should be able to see a small, round platform straight ahead. Stand on the platform and a mechanism will appear. Focus on the mechanism and press the Right Trigger. This will spawn a flying craft, which you can use to move around this level. The controls are very straightforward and exactly what you would expect. There are some flying drones in this area and your craft can only take so much of a beating. To recharge the craft, land on one of the launch pads and press the Left Trigger to exit the shuttle. Get inside the shuttle again and it will be recharged. As soon as you enter the craft, look up to your right. You should be able to see a platform in the distance, as well as some fire. Fly up to the shuttle pad and press the Left Trigger to exit the shuttle. Move through the door on this platform and into the large area. Locate the ramp leading up to the higher level here, on the upper catwalk locate the touch screen monitor that will activate the wallwalk. Once the wallwalk has been activated and the room is clear of enemies, go onto the wallwalk and follow it until it throws you off. Hit the switches here, one of them will open up an orange portal. Step through the portal, this will simply lead you back to the lower level of this area. Exit back into the large outdoor area with the tower. In the distance, you should be able to see some flying drones appearing. Don't get into your shuttle just yet, you can easily take out these guys with your AutoCannon. To kill these enemies while in the shuttle, You can direct the tractor beam towards them by pressing and holding down on the Left Trigger. Press the Right Trigger to fire at the drone, which is now directly in your sight. If you ship is getting damaged, you can also stop back off at the shuttle pad and restore its armor. Use the shuttle to fly up to the higher level of the platform, to the right of the flames. Use the tractor beam to move the debris by pressing and holding down on the Left Trigger, while the crosshair is focused on the objects in your path. Go through the gate and exit the shuttle via the shuttle pad in the middle of this room. Go through the door to your left, down this hall you will encounter a couple of hunters and a hound. Follow the hall until you reach the touch screen monitor, activate it and then step through the orange portal that appears. Fly the ship out into the open and start heading up. Pilot the shuttle through the tube, you will run into a couple of flying drones along the way unfortunately. Continue down the tube, carefully maneuver the shuttle through the spinning rings of electricity when you come to them. Eventually you will come to a section that has two tubes running parallel to each other. There is one small section of the two tubes that rotates itself between them. Pilot the shuttle into this section when it is open, simply wait until the section rotates itself into the other tube. Continue following the tube until you reach a gate, the gate will open. Fly through it and into the next area. Ignore the enemies here for now and pilot the ship to the very bottom of this area. Another gate opens when you approach the floor, fly through the gate and land on the shuttle pad in the middle of this area. There are some flying drones as well as a sniper in the tower straight across from the shuttle pad. Move from side to side while killing the drones, attempting to avoid the sniper. When the drones are gone, quickly take out your own sniper rifle and take out the sniper in the tower across the area. Go through the door on this platform and hit the switch to the left. Before stepping through the orange portal that opens up, you can utilize either one of the leech gun stations to recharge your leech gun. Go through the portal and step onto the wallwalk. Follow the wallwalk until you reach the end, then hop off. There are hunters acting snipers in this area, so don't remain idle for long and quickly take them out. Go through the door at the end of this area and hit the touch screen monitor to the left. Step through the orange portal that opens up, hit the touch screen monitor to disable the forcefield blocking your progression. When you step back outside you will encounter some more flying drones. Damn drones. Destroy them, then approach the shuttle launch pad in the middle of the platform here and spawn a shuttle. Fly through the opening that was previou- sly blocked by a forcefield and land on the shuttle pad here. There are a few snipers here, take them out quickly to avoid death. Go through the door on this platform and use the touch screen monitor to the left to spawn a blue portal. Step through this portal to move onto the next level. [10: Guiding Fires, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...The Old Tribes....................................................[m11]..| O============================================================================O You'll likely have a couple of lasers directed towards you as soon as you through the door straight ahead. Take out your rifle and quickly pick off the hunter in the sniper tower across from you and the hunter below. Several more hunters will take the place of the one below the tower, so stand by while they spawn one after the other. When they stop spawning, step outside and go through the door to your left. On the walls in this hall there are several lasers. If you touch one of them, the mounted security turret on the ceiling at the end of the hall will activate. It is much easier to simply run to straight to the end of the hall, turn around and deactivate the lasers than it is to try and avoid them. If you do trip one of the lasers, quickly shoot at the mounted turret on the roof to avoid taking too much damage. Go through the first door to your right as you move down the hallway. Hit the touch screen monitor to your right to activate the wallwalk. Follow the wallwalk until you reach the end. Here, use the touch screen monitor to disable the forcefield blocking the door. Run through the hall to the very end. While behind the mounted security turret, if you touched a laser and it is out, shoot it while it is facing away from you. In the next room, you will encounter a flying harvester. These guys can be quite deadly, but their missiles are fairly easy to dodge if you have enough space to move around. They do tend to move around a lot, which makes them rather annoying. Kill the fat rocket launching enemy, cross the bridge and go through the door. Run down this hall, destroy the mounted security turret and deactivate the moving lasers. Ignore the door to the right in this hall for now and instead exit through the door at the end of the hall. Use the touch screen monitor to the left to open up an orange portal. Step through the portal and use the touch screen monitor in this tower to activate the wallwalk below. There are some sniping hunters on the bridge across from your current position, take them out so they don't bother you in the future. A few more hunters will probably spawn now, as well as a flying harvester. Take all of these enemies down, when they stop spawning turn around and go back through the orange portal. Go down the hall and this time exit through the first door to your left. Enter spirit form, step through the forcefield and use the touch screen monitor to your left to deactivate the forcefield. Stay in spirit form, cross the visible bridge and activate the wallwalk on this side of the area via the touch screen monitor. Step onto the wallwalk and follow it around to the other side. Go through the door, run down to the end of the hall, destroy the mounted security turret and switch off the eye stalks with the touch screen monitor. Through the door at the end of this hall, you will encounter yet another flying harvester. Be careful before you step out, as this guy's missiles are deadly if they connect. When the coast is clear, walk along the wallwalk to your left. Follow this wallwalk until you reach then end, then hop off. Walk along the pipes here and jump down below, being careful to make sure that land on the walkway below. Move straight across the bridge, through the door and into the next area. Kill the hunter in here and get onto the shut- tle. Fly the shuttle out through the gate, locate the blue shuttle pad and land here. Make sure that there are no snipers or regular hunters around and enter spirit form. Take the visible bridge up to the sniper tower, activate the touch screen monitor and return to your human form. Return to your shuttle and fly up through the opening in the ceiling. Before you do anything in this area, kill every flying drone and hunter in this area. Now, to get through this area you need to turn off the fan that is spinning on the ceiling of this area. To turn off this fan, you need to stop all of the power that is going towards powering it. There are three power sources that you need to damage. Each one of these is blocked by a forcefield so all you need to do is fly the shuttle to each of these sites. Land on the shuttle pad at each of these areas, spirit walk through the forcefield and turn off the forcefield surrounding the site. With this done, return to your body, get back in the shuttle, aim the cannons at the metal panel in the round object on the wall and fire. When the metal panel is destroyed, use the tractor beam to remove each of the power generators that were behind the metal panel. Do this to the three power stations and the fan will turn off, allowing you fly up into the next area. Two of these stations require you to hit another touch screen monitor to open the metal casing before you can shoot the metal panel behind it. When all of the power generators are removed from behind the metal panels the fan will stop. Fly up past the fan, follow this tunnel up, through the gate and into the next tunnel. You will encounter some flying drones in this tunnel as well as a couple of gasplants. Keep your distance from the gas- plants destroy all of the enemies in your path. Fly you ship towards the big tower in this next area, use the tractor beam to remove the debris in front of the gate. Land your shuttle and step into the next area. Head straight past the two guards, turn left, then at the split turn right. Move into this room and turn to your left. The guard standing by this door will soon step out of your way and allow you to pass. In this room, Elhult will reveal herself. Step onto the platform when you are able to. A relatively long conversation ensues at this points. After the conversation, a blue portal opens up in the distance. Get off of the platform when you have the chance and go through the blue portal to finish this level. [11: The Old Tribes, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Hidden Agenda.....................................................[m12]..| O============================================================================O Move through the first area, trying your best to avoid the eye stalks and activating the mounted security turret. As you enter the next room, you'll catch a small glimpse of the creature known as the Keeper. Use the alien hand on the panel to open the door down the hall. To the left and right of this room there are two rooms. Enter each of this rooms and destroy the blue power source capsules. When you destroy one of these, eye stalks in the room will activate. Try to avoid the lasers, because if you touch one a mounted security turret will activate. There are ammo containers in each of these rooms. Once both of the blue capsules have been destroyed, return to the middle room and take the Acid Sprayer from the table between the two pillars. Once you have the acid sprayer, some orange portals will open up and some hunters will step out. This is a good chance to test out your new gun. The acid sprayer is a really powerful weapon when it is directed right towards the target and used at close range. The acid sprayer should be able to kill a hunter with one spray if you are close enough. Eventually, the hunters will stop spawning and an orange portal will open up and remain open. Turn around and exit through the door right behind you. Kill the hunters, move around the wall and use the touch screen monitor to turn of the forcefield blocking your progression. Exit this room by the door that was previously blocked by the forcefield. In this room you will encounter some hunters, as well as a mounted security turret on the ceiling. At the end of this room your path is being blocked by a forcefield. To the left of the forcefield there is a small alcove. Step into the alcove then enter spirit form. Move around the circular walls until you come to another alcove with a touch screen monitor next to it. Use the touch screen monitor to shift the alcove. Remain in spirit form and move through the next force- field. Locate the touch screen monitor and use it to shift the alcove again. Kill the hunters, at the end of this hall there is a box that you can crouch and move through the enter a new area. Use the touch screen monitor to your left to turn on the screen and open up an orange portal straight across from you. Move around this area until you come across another orange portal. Go through the portal, in this room you will only encounter mutilated humans who won't attack you unless you interrupt them. Go to the area with the crate and monitor, to your right is a hole in the wall that you can crouch and pass through. In this room you will encounter some flying drones, if your acid sprayer still has some juice left you can take these guys out with a couple of well aimed shots. When the room is clear, go into spirit form and cross the visible bridge over the gap. Use the touch screen monitor on this side of the room to disable the forcefield blocking the wallwalk. Return to your body and follow the wallwalk to the middle section. Hop off of the wallwalk, be careful as there is a security turret right in front of you. Crouch down, follow the path and eventually you will come to a room full of pipes. Drop down the pipes and onto the ground below, move to the end of this area and shoot the gravity panel on the wall right next to you. Move around the room until you find a hole in the floor blocked by a forcefield. Stand on the forcefield and enter spirit form, shoot the gravity panel on the floor in front of the forcefield and use the touch screen monitor to deactivate it. Return to your body, shoot the gravity panels in this room so that the force- field "cage" in this room is aligned with the floor. Spirit walk through the forcefield cage and use the touch screen monitor on the wall to open up an orange portal in this room. Go through the orange portal, you'll see the Keeper again for a moment in this room. After the Keeper's appearance, look for a hole in the floor. Fall down the hole and follow the path to the outside area. On this platform you will have to battle some drones. There is some AutoCannon ammo in the corner here, so take it if needed. Once the spots stop appearing, a blue portal will open up. Step through this portal to end the level. [12: Hidden Agenda, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Jen...............................................................[m13]..| O============================================================================O Move ahead through this hall and in the next room you will run into a force- field blocking your path. Spirit walk through the forcefield, look at the floor for a number combination written in blood(2432) and enter this code into the touch screen monitor to deactivate the forcefield. Return to your body, if you need ammo/health you can crouch down and go through a small opening to the left of this room to retrieve some acid sprayer ammo and there is a health station on the wall here. Next, go through the door next to the monitor, you will see Jen down below. Crouch down and crawl through the vent to your right. Kill the hunters here, there is an ammunition container mounted on the wall here and you can also find a leech gun plasma station in the room at the south end of the hall. The door at the end of the hall will lead you to a room with a forcefield. Spirit walk through the forcefield and use the touch screen monitor right next to it to deactivate it. Kill the mutilated human at the end of the room and use the alien's hand on the panel. You will have to fight some mutants, these are rather tough. They are fast and their attacks are rather damaging, just keep your distance and use your AutoCannon's grenade launcher or crawlers if you have some. Try to move side to side away from their attacks rather than simply backing up and shooting them, their attacks are fast and hard to avoid. You will have to fight a couple of these beasts and then a couple of hounds. After you have killed all of the enemies, go through the door at the end of this room. Move ahead and spirit walk through the forcefield to your left. Follow the tunnel to its end and hop out. Killed the mutilated human to open the door at the end of the hall using the touch screen monitor. Return to your body and exit this hall through the door at the end. Move ahead and enter the small ammo and health room. Enter spirit form and exit this room, turn right and use the touch screen monitor to shift the room. Take the ammo from the ammunition container mounted on the wall and exit the room. Turn right and exit through the door here. Destroy the security turret to the right of the wallwalk and then follow the wallwalk to its end. Kill the hunters and go through the orange portal down this hall. You will have to fight another one of those mutants, this time however you can use your leech gun to take the electricity ammo from the leech gun station on the wall. This gun should be able to kill the thing in a couple of hits. Once the mutants are dead, a portal will appear in the middle of the room. Before you proceed, you can go through the area at the end of this room that was previously blocked by the forcefield, turn to your right and crouch down into this room to find some additional ammunition. Step through the portal and exit this hall. You'll find Jen in this room, use the touch screen monitor to release her from the contraption that she is imprisoned in. After a short conversation with Jen and a message from Elhuit, step through the blue portal in the next room to finish the level. [13: Jen, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...The Dark Harvester................................................[m14]..| O============================================================================O After the short conversation, move ahead. A couple of hunters will break through the wall to your right, kill them and exit through the hole in the wall. Move through this hall, killing all of the hunters and hounds in your path. Run towards the end of this area, all while portals are opening up and hunters are jumping out. Hop down to the lower level of this area and start killing all of the hunters. There are a couple of ammunition containers mounted on the wall somewhere in this area, locate them and take the ammo because you'll be needing it. Once the initial volley of hunters has ceased, a blue portal will open up and a couple of centurions will step out. Don't worry, these guys aren't nearly as strong as the boss centurion that you faced at an earlier level. Hunters and hounds will also accompany each centurion. If you're having trouble avoiding getting killed, you can climb up to the mid-section of this area, which allows you to easily pick off the distraction enemies and avoid the centurion's attacks. Crawlers work well, as well as AutoCannon grenades. When every enemy has been killed and they stop appearing, you will witness Jen being taken away by an enemy. Great, not this crap again. After a short chat with the mysterious voice, step through the blue portal that opens up to move on to the next level. [14: The Dark Harvester, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Following Her.....................................................[m15]..| O============================================================================O Take the ammo from the container at the end of the hall and use the touch screen monitor to activate the wallwalk here. Follow the wallwalk and go through the passage to your left. You can take the electricity ammo for your leech gun from the leech gun station on the ceiling in this room. Go through the orange portal in here and through the door straight ahead. Drop down to the area below, kill the hounds and hunters in here, then proceed through the door on this level. Spirit walk through the forcefield and hit "Floor 1" on the touch screen elevator control panel. Return to your body and climb onto the elevator to the left once it is down. Return to your spirit form, pass through the forcefield once more and this time select "Floor 2" to carry yourself up to the next level. Return to your body and wait for the elevator to reach the top. Exit through the door at the end of the elevator. Move through the hall and kill all of the hunters and fodder in this room. Use the touch screen monitor here to disable to eye stalks. Be sure to take the ammo from the two ammuni- tion containers mounted on the wall by the door. Step into the next room and drop down to the level below. In this area you will have to face several Harvesters. Harvesters are relatively powerful enemies, they use crawler launchers as their main weapon and they can also swipe at you to deal a good amount of damage. The harvesters will usually use their launcher's secondary function to create a shield to block any explosive ammo that you try to throw at them. Try your best to keep your distance from these guys, if you get to close they'll either claw at you or fire a highly damaging explosive towards you. Use the pillar in the middle of this room as a shield, maneuver around it to block the harvester's missiles. Occasionally pop out, shoot the enemy, then quickly dodge back behind the pillar. When the harvesters stop spawning, use one of the wallwalks on the sides to climb up to the mid-section of this room. Once on the mid-section, move around to the wallwalk connected to this section, follow it up into the next area. On a table straight ahead, grab the Crawler Launcher. This is a very powerful weapon that will definitely come in handy. Its secondary function creates a shield in the air in front of you that will last for a short while. This shield will block any projectiles aimed at it while it lasts. Turn around and follow the path to your right. Kill the hunters here, when you reach the wall shoot the gravity panel on the ceiling above it to switch the gravity so you can pass over it. Pass the next wall that you encounter in the same fashion. Use the alien hand on the panel to open the door at the end of the hall and move on. This next area is...interesting. Wait until the large object is retracted so you can cross the metal grid to the other side. Jump through the window into the small room, kill the harvester and use the touch screen monitor in here. Step outside and you will encounter a couple of flying harvesters. This is the time to put your new launcher to good use, it'll take these guys out post-haste. Wait until the second large object is retracted, then hop over to the other side. Kill the hunters in your way and use the touch screen monitor mounted on the railing at the end of the walkway. After using this switch, wait until the moving object retracts, then hop onto the middle grid on the front. Ride the object and jump off of it just as you get close to the platform to your right. Wait until the beam of energy stops then quickly jump into the tube, turn left and start running. Immediately take a right as soon as you can. Kill the harvester in here, then move to the end of this area and through the door. Enter your spirit form and cross the now visible bridge over the gap. Head into the other room, press the switch to retract the bars. Return to your body, backtrack to the previous room and go through the door passed the newly retracted bars. You encounter a harvester and a flying enemy, clear out the room and hop down to the area below. Climb up the two metal platforms at the opposite end. Locate the explosive ball and push it towards the door with the strange material covering it. Step back, shoot the ball a few times to release the door. Go through the door, follow this hall and step through the blue portal at the end to move onto the next level. [15: Following Her, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...The Complex.......................................................[m16]..| O============================================================================O Use the alien hand to open the door at the end of the hall. As soon as that door opens you will likely have several lasers directed towards you. Take out your rifle and use it to snipe the sniping hunters that are gunning for you. At the end of this long, narrow area, drop down on the pipes. Crouch down and follow the pipes to another area. The area to the right houses some mutilated humans and some ammo, it ultimately leads to a dead end however. Take the wallwalk to the left, follow the wallwalk into the next area. Hit the switch in here to disable the eye stalks, then proceed through the door. Kill the hounds and the hunters in this area and follow the walkway around until you reach the end. Hop down the two platforms, wait until the cube is finished being built, then fall down the hole. This puzzle isn't as complex as it looks, your goal here is to fill the gaps in the cube using the small blue cube. As you can see, the interior of the cube is covered in gravity switches. These work just like the green glowing gravity panels you are used to seeing; shoot them and the gravity will shift in that direction. You need to switch the gravity in such a way that it will make the small blue cube in here fall down to fill up the gaps. So, start by standing on the gravity switch and facing towards the gravity switch that the arm is pointing towards. Shoot the gravity switch on the wall ahead. See how the cube falls down to fill up the gaps? You need to do this enough times so that it falls all the way around the cube and reaches the second arm at the end. When you complete the cube puzzle, the cube will detach. Follow the wallwalk across from you all the way until it ends. Back at the beginning of the level again, cross the pipes once more to reach the platform with the strange, spinning object in the middle. Now that it is activated, step into it, you will be pushed to the upper level. There are a couple of harvesters here, as well as a flying one. Kill the harvesters and an orange portal will open up at the end of one of the catwalks. Step through the portal and stand on the first half of the catwalk in front of you. Spirit walk over to the switch mounted on the railing and press it. Return to your body, the two catwalks will connect to each other, move over to the second half and let it carry you over to the other side. Go through the door on this side of the area, spirit walk through the forcefield and use the switch to your left. This will switch the gravity in the room, return to your body and pass over the forcefield. Move to the very end of this room, so you are hugging up against the wall right near the arrow pointing up. The room will eventually switch itself back, at this point try to guide yourself as you are falling into the little opening in the wall. Alternatively, you can utilize the giant blocks in this room by pushing them past the forcefield while the gravity is switched, then pushing them together below the opening so you can hop up onto the small one and then onto the big one. The former method is a little faster if you get it right the first time, but either way they'll both get you out of this room and into the next area. This next area is a little confusing. This is a series of halls that can lead you around in circles if you're not careful. First, run around and kill the hunters patrolling this hallway. Now it's time to make your way out of here. Basically, if you see yourself in the distant section of the hallway, your going in the wrong direction. So if you ever see yourself, turn around and go the other way. Navigate the halls until you find a door that will lead you into the next area. Kill the harvesters in this room, then locate the touch screen monitor that will switch around the gravity. Locate the moving lift platforms and take one down to the next area. Follow the wallwalk and step through the orange portal at the end. Kill the flying enemies in here first and foremost. When they are dead, push the expl- osive ball near the strange material that you can see attached to the platf- orm straight ahead. When the material is destroyed, move over the platform and jump down to the grid below it. Go through the orange portal at the end of the bridge, take a shuttle and pilot it over to the platform that is diagonal the two catwalks with the hunters. Exit the shuttle and step through the door with the blue light over it. In this room you will find the blue portal, step through it to end the level. [16: The Complex, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Ascent............................................................[m17]..| O============================================================================O Spirit walk through the blue energy, past the laser grid and use the touch screen monitor to disable them. On the opposite side of this door, you will encounter some flying harvesters. Kill them and make your way to the opposite end of this area. Destroy the blue castle attached to the middle platform, then approach the door. Use the alien hand to open the door via the hand ide- ntification panel right next to it. Step through the door, move to the end of this room and use the switch near the door to power the shuttle elevator. Go into the next room. The strange voice will speak to you again, it will show you a holographical representation of the tower you are about to ascend. Yup, it's a long way up... Head back through the door that you used to enter this room once it opens back up again. Exit back to the outside area and defeat the flying harvest- ers that have spawned. Move to the end of this side of the area and spawn a shuttle using the shuttle pad. Pilot the shuttle into the blue ring. This acts as an elevator, it will bring your shuttle up to a higher area. When you reach the top, use the shuttle's cannons to destroy the two mounted turrets, then exit the vehicle on the shuttle pad. There's an ammunition container in this area, as well as several different leech gun stations. Take what you like, then look around the area for a touch screen monitor. Use the monitor to unlock the gate at the top, return to the shuttle and pilot it up through the gate. All you need to do in this area is to get to the top and go through the gate. Avoid the mines and maybe hang back when the objects on the walls are shooting out blue energy. Kill the hunters in this area, then fly around the room and search for the small opening in the wall. Use the shuttle's tractor beam to pull the debris out of the way, then fly through it. Land the shuttle on the shuttle pad in the middle of this area. Kill the hunter and destroy the two security guns in the two top corners, then locate the hand identification panel and use the alien hand to unlock the gate. Get back on the shuttle and fly it out of the recently unlocked gate. Remove the debris tower and fly out into the open. Pilot the ship towards the planetoid in the middle of the area. Locate the shuttle pad on the top part of the planetoid and exit the shuttle. Defeat the flying drones. Follow the pipes that are connected to the area with the shuttle pad, when you reach the end press the switch. Follow the pipes back to the shuttle pad and board the shuttle again. Fly the shuttle to the platform with the blue ring elevator and exit the shuttle. Use the touch screen monitor to open the entrance to the elevator. Get back in the shuttle and fly it into the blue energy ring. Wait as the transporter slowly brings you to your destination. When you reach the end of the line, fly straight towards the platform ahead and exit the shuttle. Destroy the enemies up here, you can get some additional ammo up here as well. Locate the touch screen panel and press it to assemble another elevator. Enter a shuttle again and fly into the blue ring transporter. When the transporter reaches its destination, fly towards the shuttle pad and exit the shuttle. Move around this platform until you reach the gap. Shoot the green glowing gravity panel on the roof across from your side. Walk across to the other side, then shoot the gravity switch above to flip things back around. Destroy all of the enemies here, then spirit walk through the plasma discharge. Walk up the steps, jump through the forcefield and use the touch screen monitor here to turn of the plasma. Return to your body, jump up and walk through the tunnel. Walk through these halls until you come to a large room with a strange power source in the middle. There are four white beams of energy connected to it, simply shoot the blue capsules that the beams are coming from. After you have destroyed all of the blue capsules, exit this room and follow the hall. Eventually you will encounter some harvesters, kill them and then shoot the gravity switch on the ceiling. Locate the blue portal here and fall down it to end the level. [17: Ascent, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Center of Gravity.................................................[m18]..| O============================================================================O Follow these halls until you reach a forcefield. Spirit walk past the force- field, hit the switch up ahead on the right to disable the forcefield. Return to your body and exit through the door ahead. Kill the hunters in here and Don't touch the switch in here yet, instead go through the orange portal and just ignore it for now. Stand on the elevator here and then enter spirit form. Spirit walk over the visible bridge leading over the gap to the other side and activate the touch screen monitor to open up an orange portal. This orange portal will lead you back to the previous room, so stay in spirit form and use the switch in here to lower the elevator that you are standing on. Crouch through the portal here and enter the next area. Find the hole in the floor and fall all the way down to the bottom. Destroy the security turret and the drones in this room, then look up and shoot the gravity switch. Be careful here, some pits of fire will open up, so walk around them. Position yourself so you are standing over the bridge with the gravity switch, then shoot the gravity switch again. Take the ammo from the ammunition container mounted on the wall here and then step back out. You will be in a new area now. Follow along the walkway until you reach the gap. Make sure that the flying harvester is dead before you spirit walk over the gap via the bridge. Use the switch on the other side to activate the wallwalk in this area. Move back past the door that you used to enter this area and take the wallwalk all the way to the opposite platform. Walk over to the shuttle pad that is on this side and spawn a shuttle. There are a couple of tractor beams in this area, aim the shuttle's cannons towards the devices that are shooting them beams on the walls and destroy them. Once they have been stopped, pilot the ship to the top of this area and exit into the next area through the two gates. Exit the shuttle on the shuttle pad in this area, kill the enemies around and then walk onto the pipe leading to the small planetoid. Walk around the planetoid until you are stan- ding over the platform that contains a touch screen monitor. The first platform that you are likely to see is the one with the shuttle pad, this is not the right platform as the monitor here is just a regular display monitor. Once you have located the platform with the touch screen, stand over it and enter Spirit form. You will fall through the forcefield, use the touch screen to turn off the forcefield and then return to your body. Next you will need to locate another touch screen monitor, this one is on a platform that also has a shuttle pad near it. Find it, it should be rather close to the one with the forcefield switch, and press the touch screen to open the tunnel in this area. Get back in the shuttle once the tunnel is open and fly up through it. This area contains two asteriods that are connected to each other with a couple of pipes. Locate the shuttle pad on the lower planet and exit the shuttle. Fight off the drones and then begin moving away from the platform. Just go continue moving straight, facing away from the shuttle's controls on the shuttle pad. Eventually, you will come to a part of the pipes that you can jump on and then follow them up to the upper planetoid. Press the touch screen monitor on the platform here, then follow the pipes back down to the shuttle pad on the planet below. Enter the shuttle and fly it up towards the plasma shooting objects that you should be able to see. Fly up near it and wait for the blue plasma to stop coming out, then quickly fly up the object and turn right as soon as you can to enter the next area. Here, you need to destroy this energy tower. There is a shuttle launch pad in this area, so land for a bit if your ship needs to recharge. To destroy the energy tower, you will need to destroy the little objects attached to the metal plates that are rotating around the tower. The objects as well as the tower itself will shoot electricity at you which causes a great amount of damage to your ship, so make sure that you use the shuttle pad to recharge if you need to. Once you have destroyed all of those objects and the metal plates have become detached from the tower, the rings in the middle of the tower will appear. Destroy each of these rings to destroy the tower. After the tower has exploded, pilot the ship up through the opening in the ceiling where the tower used to be attached to. Exit the ship on the shuttle pad here and step through the blue portal at the end of the walkway to finish the level. [18: Center of Gravity, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Resolutions.......................................................[m19]..| O============================================================================O The voice in Tommy's head will halt your progress, once it is done speaking continue heading down the hallway. Eventually you will come to a room contai- ning another holographic representation of the tower that you are currently scaling. As you can see, you've still got a long way to go unfortunately. Once the voice is finished speaking, exit through the door on the opposite end of this room. As you attempt to cross the bridge in the next area, one of the tiles will enclose you within it. After the voice is finished and you are free, spirit walk across the visible bridge leading over the gap to the other side. Follow the walkway to the platform across from the one with your body currently on it and use the touch screen monitor. Return to your body, walk across the bridge and turn left. Stand on the square of wallwalk here. Spirit walk back over to the touch screen monitor and use it again. The piece of wallwalk that you are standing on will attach itself to the walkway on the level above. Return to your body and move onto the piece of wallwalk in front of you. Spirit walk over to the platform with the touch screen monitor ahead and use the monitor. Once the wallwalk with your body attached to it is on the opposite side, walk off of this wallwalk piece and stand on the one at the end of the walkway to your right. Spirit walk back over to the the touch screen monitor and use it again to transport your self up to the third level. Approach the portal and you will hear the keeper's voice again. Another orange portal will soon open up in the distance, when it does step through it to enter the next area. Stepping through this portal has brought you MUCH closer to your goal, as you can see by looking at the holographic representation of the tower. Exit this room through the door and step through the orange portal to enter the next area. In this area, you will encounter some harvesters. Also, the incredibly powerful sun beam can be sucked into your leech gun via the station on one of the walls. This makes your leech gun into an extremely powerful weapon, as becomes readily apparent when you fire the thing. While loaded with sun beam, the leech gun will fire out a beam of energy which will quickly kill any enemy that it is focused on. The beam is so powe- rful in fact, that firing the leech gun will cause you to be pushed back a bit. The sun beam is very effective against any enemy. There are a few harv- esters in this room as well as a security turret, this gives you the chance to test out the sun beam for yourself. When the room is clear, exit by the door at the end. There is another sun beam leech gun station in here, sweet. Use your current supply of sun beam to clear the room, then recharge your leech gun with this station. Use the touch screen monitor in this room. Return to the previous area and take the wallwalk down to the next area. Jump down off of the wall- walk and onto the lower level. You'll have to fight off some flying and ground harvesters here, nothing you aren't used to already. After the initial wave of harvesters however, thinks take a turn for the ugly. You will have to fight some mutants. There are several packs of ammo around here, so if you are in need of some just run around to the corners of the area. A blue portal will open up once the mutants are dead, step through it and run to the end of the hallway. It's Jen! After a short chat, you're forced to fight her. +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | B O S S F I G H T!!! - Jen - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | | | Jen has been turned into some sort of genetic fusion between a human and | | a monster. Not pretty. Although Jen is Tommy's love interest, she doesn't | | have control of the bottom half of her "body," and that half will waste | | no time in attacking you. As soon as you gain control over Tommy again, | | quickly back away from the capsule. This monster is very fast and his | | melee attacks hurt. A lot. There isn't much you can do to get away from | | him, besides back up but this is really a futile effort as he will indeed | | catch up with you and attempt to rip your face off. The monster has some | | heavy fire power too, in the form of two sun beam cannons mounted on his | | sides. Great. | | | | You may be surprised, as this beast's health seems to fall rather quickly.| | While attempting to back away from him, use whatever weapon you have that | | will deal a good amount of damage. The acid sprayer seems to be quite | | effective in this situation, but an AutoCannon's primary and secondary | | fire is fine too. There is a catch however, when the monster's health | | gets low enough, he'll whip out some flying objects that will replenish | | his health supply. At this point, take out your biggest gun and begin | | firing directly at the things. They are very effective and will recharge | | him back to full health very quickly. You may need to bring down his life | | more than two times in order to destroy both of these objects, as they | | can take a fair amount of punishment. | | | | When you destroy one of the objects, it will destroy one of the leech | | guns at the monster's side. Once both of them have been destroyed, the | | only thing your enemy can really do is run at you and attempt to throw | | you across the room. Since the creature cannot recharge himself, this is | | the final life bar that you have to deplete. So now just...shoot at it | | until it dies. There are health spores on the floor as well as several | | cases of acid sprayer and AutoCannon ammo, so really overall this boss | | shouldn't be all too difficult. Once the beast is finally down, approach | | its corpse with Jen still attached to it. Sadly, there is absolutely | | nothing you can do to save Tommy's love, you must kill her to put her | | out of her misery. | | | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | E N D B O S S F I G H T! - Jen - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ Once Jen is gone, the voice will speak to you again. You are then transported back to the land of the ancients. [19: Resolutions, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Oath of Vengeance.................................................[m20]..| O============================================================================O Run down to the camp fire, where you will find Enisi. Once the old man is done speaking, go through the door leading to the spirit cave, follow the path and eventually you will come to a health upgrade. Once you've got your hand on that health upgrade, things take a turn for the worst. Somehow the dark ones have found their way to the land of the ancients. Ugh, follow the path out of the spirit cave to the outside area where you will find Enisi attempting to hold off the army of the dark. Once Enisi removes himself from the path, you'll have to fight off the enemies here. You will face a centurion, a bunch of drones, hunters and some harvesters. Luckily with the health upgrade it becomes a bit easier to go up against this many enemies at once. Be wary of the hunters that appear on the rocks surrounding this area. Eventually, once you have killed enough enemies, a blue portal will open up and it will stay open. Ignore all of the hunters that spawn here now and make a beeline towards the portal. [20: Oath of Vengeance, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Facing the Enemy..................................................[m21]..| O============================================================================O In this first area, you will have to face off against a multitude of enemies. All while shouting obscenities, apparently. There is a sun beam leech gun station one of the walls in this area, which you give you a few easy kills. There are also tons of health spores on the floor, as well as some ammo littered around the area. So in other words, you've got plenty of resources to use against these monsters. Eventually an orange portal will open and it will remain open, that's your ticket out of this area. Go through the orange portal and use the alien hand on the identification panel on the wall to open the door ahead. Quickly hit both of the switches here, then when the rotating object rotates with its opening towards you, fire at the white energy inside. Spirit walk across the visible bridge over the gap and hit the switch to raise the platform that you are on. Run down the hall across from you and use the alien hand on the panel to open the door right next to it. You will encounter a couple of flying harvesters in here, as well as the Keeper for a short time. Kill off all of the harvesters before you do anything. Kill the two hunter snipers that spawn above as well. When the room is clear, stand in front of one of the touch screen monitors. Enter spirit form and walk over to the other touch screen monitor and press on the screen. Now quickly switch back to your body and press on the screen that you are standing in front of. An elevator will come down, quickly run and step onto it. When it reaches the top, step off of the elevator and go through the door straight ahead. +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | B O S S F I G H T!!! - The Keeper - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | | | This is it, the battle with the Keeper. It become readily apparent that | | the mysterious voice in Tommy's head was not the Keeper's, as he appears | | to have believed. After a relatively long speech, the keeper will seat | | himself on a platform over looking the arena. Up here, he is invulnerable.| | Before you can go head to head with the Keeper, you will need to battle | | numerous enemies. Mutants, harvesters, hunters, the whole gang is here. | | There are some plasma leech gun stations on the walls as well as several | | health spores on the ground. This may be tough and you will probably die | | at least once, but eventually the enemies will stop spawning, then you | | will be able to face the Keeper. This isn't as exciting as it sounds, | | unfortunately he's a real pushover. | | | | When the centurion falls down dead, the Keeper will hop down onto the | | platform. This boss battle is just incredibly easy for being one of the | | last bosses in the game. If he an attack other than firing two projecti- | | les towards you, then I didn't notice them. Basically all you need to do | | is stay a good distance away from him so you can avoid the projectiles | | and attack him with anything you've got. Explosives, as always, work well | | against this guy. When you see a projectile coming towards you, just | | dodge to the side, then move back into position and fire towards your | | enemy. Beams of energy circulate around the area, so make sure that you | | don't accidentally run into them. Continue firing at the creature until | | he is dead. Once he is dead, you will hear the mysterious voice once | | again, assuring you that it has just begun. | | | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | E N D B O S S F I G H T! - The Keeper - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ The arena flips upside down, a portal opens up beneath you and you fall through to a new area. Past the two doors here, you will face some lesser keepers. They may appear to be slightly tougher than the boss version of a Keeper that you just faced, since while they are using their telekinesis to levitate an object they are invulnerable. You will encounter several keepers in the proceeding halls, it will be tough but since you can't get a game over in this game, you will eventually get through it. When you encounter a keeper stay a good distance away from it so you can avoid the projectiles and use the same strategy that you used against the Keeper boss. While they are using telekinesis, as mentioned earlier, they will be invulnerable. Get out of the way while they are levitating the object, as they will hurl it towards you. Of course, things will get tougher when there is more than one keeper in the area. Lucky for you, there are three sun beam leech gun stations on the wall in the first area, this'll fry those keepers with relative ease. Make sure that you take any ammo that you find from ammunition containers mounted on the walls, you will all the ammo that you can get for the final boss battle. There are more keepers in the second area, as well as an electr- icity leech gun station. Unfortunately, if the sun beam runs out you cannot return to the previous area so you can use one of the other sun beam leech gun stations to recharge your leech gun. You have to defeat all of the keepers before you can proceed into the next area. When all of the keepers in this area have been killed, head up the wallwalk and go through the door leading into the next area. There are a lot of keepers in this area, luckily there is another sun beam station right in front of the entrance. Kill a few of the keepers and then follow the wallwalk down to an orange portal. The proceeding hallway contains some hunters, hounds and a couple of keepers. If you've still got some sun beam in your leech gun, try your best to conse- rve this, because if you use it during the final boss battle, you'll have a much easier time with it. Kill all of the enemies that are in this hallway, then proceed into the next area. After a short chat with the mysterious voice in this area, a blue portal will be opened up. Step through this portal to complete this level. [21: Facing the Enemy, achieved!] O============================================================================O |...Mother's Embrace..................................................[m22]..| O============================================================================O Enter the main room, once the voice speaks to you, the controls for a shuttle will form on the walkway. Approach the controls and board the shuttle. This is not your standard shuttle, you'll use it to energize the objects surroun- ding the outside of the planetoid in the middle of this area. The shuttle is slightly difficult to control, basically you use the Left Trigger and the Left Thumbstick pushed forward to propel the shuttle towards the planetoid, then you use the Right Trigger to create a stream of energy over one of the objects. The blue energy emitting from the device on the planetoid will change to a more powerful orange beam. Repeat this process until all of the blue beams have changed to orange beams. Once all of the blue beams have been converted, you will be transported into Mother's chamber. +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | B O S S F I G H T!!! - Mother - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | | | You're at the final battle, there's no turning back now! Here you will | | Mother(zomg partial nudity!), she is the owner of the mysterious voice | | that you have been hearing throughout the levels. Apparently, Mother | | wants you to take her place as the controller of the metal world. Sorry, | | not going to happen, Tommy's focused on destroying Mother to avenge | | Jen's death. Once Mother is finished speaking, enter spirit form. The | | goal here is to fire an arrow and hit each of the hexagon panes that make | | up the sphere that Mother is in. When each and every one of the hexagons | | have been hit with an arrow, return to your body. Now use your rifle and | | hit each pane until all of them are broken. Some hunters will spawn along | | the walkway, but they are easily dealt with. Once all of the hexagons | | have been hit, Talon, you're faithful companion, will sacrifice himself | | to help you take down Mother ;_; | | | | But it's not over yet, once Talon has done his thing you will be transp- | | orted to a new area. The rest of the Mother boss battle is actually quite | | simple: On the sides of this platform, there are two structures with a | | touch screen monitor next to each of them. What you must do is use the | | touch screen monitors next to these structures to raise an explosive up | | into the air. With the explosive object up in the air, take cover behind | | the structure so it can absorb Mother's projectile attacks. If one of | | them happens to be hit by a projectile, just send up another. Now, to | | hurt Mother you first need to bring down her shields. To do this, wait | | until Mother is in the air flying around close to one of the explosive | | objects that you sent up. When she is close, fire at the explosive object | | (the crawler launcher works well, but another gun is fine too). | | | | If you did this correctly and Mother was close enough, her shields will | | come down, leaving her vulnerable to your attacks. At this point, you've | | only got a few seconds to deal some damage to her before she brings her | | shields back up. If you still have some sun beam left in your leech gun | | from the stage prior to this one, use this to drain Mother's health very | | quickly. If not, any other gun is fine too, you can find a lot of ammo | | scattered around the platform that you are fighting Mother on. Repeat | | this process until Mother's health is completely gone. | | | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ | E N D B O S S F I G H T! - Mother - | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ Once Mother has been defeated, she will attempt to convince Tommy to bond with the sphere in here place, promising him unimaginable power. Fortunately, Tommy's Grandfather talks some sense into him. Set the controls for the heart of the sun, the sphere is propelled straight into the glowing ball of fire and destroyed. That's it, you've completed Prey! Congratulations on a job well done! Enjoy the ending, you've earned it! You will receive the achievement for completing "Mother's Embrace" as well as the achievement for completing Prey on the normal difficulty setting. Now the Cherokee difficulty setting has been unlocked, complete this to unlock the "Galactic Hero" achievement. The only differences that I noticed between the two difficulties are that the enemies are stronger, and the absence of any health spores or health stations.
