OHM's Overview: ------------------ First of all, I'd like to tell others that this document is my first FAQ document I've ever written. And for your information too, I'm FPS lover, this game, is the first game I've play since I leave a gaming world for 4 years. Hmm... I've finished play this game on December 2001. But I start to write this document only when I know that there is no one FAQ for this game on this very usefully website (GameFAQs). Hmm.. I'm a full-time university student, so, there is no time to me to write a walkthrough for this game. Base on experience and my opinion, by understanding and follow carefully the tips given are enough to accomplish all 14 missions in this game. All right, let's get started.. One thing, please don't boo me if there are grammatical errors or anything else. Any suggestions or comments please let me know by mail to my mail address. :) ************************** 2. OHM's Disclaimer: --------------------- This document was written by OHMCS110, hmm.. So, if you want to publish it for commercial use, DON'T DO IT!! This document Copyright 2002 OHMCS110. Also note that this FAQ may not be used or distributed for commercial use. It may not be distributed at all without written permission from the writer. THIS TIPS, I CONSIDER IT AS A MOTIVATION FROM ME TO OTHER GAMERS WHO STUCK PLAYING THIS GAME, ESPECIALLY MISSION 9...HE HE HE) ;) ************************** 3. OHM's Game's Story Line: --------------------------- Hmm.. The FPS and tactically 3D game, formerly known as VENOM3D, this game using 'Vital ZL' engine that superbly change the view of 3D gaming. (Hmm.. I don't know how to describe it anymore, so, below is the games story line). During the routine observation of nocturnal sky astronomers have registered a new object in the Ursa Major constellation zone. It was indexed as JK4538-XK. According to observation data, the object was of midsize comet class. The subsequent computations confirmed that the comet was inbound from another galaxy. Such a rare event became a worldwide sensation in the wink of an aye. Moving at a tremendous speed the guest from another galaxy could soon be seen with a naked eye in the sky at night. However, the exultation vanished into thin air as soon as the scientists reported about probabilistic trajectory of the comet: it could collide with the Earth. After verifying the calculations, state authorities began preparing for the possible catastrophe and evacuating the cities. Humans got ready for the worst. Passing in dangerous proximity to the Earth, the comet scorched the atmosphere and hundreds of meteorites poured their fiery rain down causing death and destruction, evoking tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes. When ash and smoke cleared away, the survivors could see the cities lying in ruins and the meteorite-pitted lands. A sluggish reconstruction after the devastation was begun. Though meteorites lying deep in craters were not exactly dead stones - they gave birth to new life around them. The recently frequent cases of people disappearing served the first foreboding. Some time later the communication with one of the military laboratories researching meteorite samples was lost. The rescue party sent to the lab faced vigorous opposition trying to get inside. The guard killed in the skirmish was partially absorbed by an alien organism, confirming the worst apprehensions of biological contamination. Alien life forms brought by meteorites in spores spread fast. After the incubation period aliens transformed into parasite organisms capable of total subduing their prey. An infected person lost self-control and proved unable to perceive his environment. The epidemic broke out. The sites of meteorite falls were most severely infected. Whole regions and settlements were under alien control. Their organized groups raided the neighboring territories. Humans, exhausted after the catastrophe, were losing ground every day. The enemy was undetectable: today your neighbor was your friend and tomorrow he was your foe. Humans did everything in their power to study and fight the aliens. Anything to stop the epidemic. Note that this story line was adopted from the original story in CODENAME: OUTBREAK official website. ************************** 4. OHM's 20 Tips - The Integral Part in This Simple FAQ: --------------------------------------------------------- Hmm.. For your information, not all of this tips are mine, the rest I adopt from Chris CKW. All right, we start from here.. Tip No. 1: Always use the quick save. You can achieve this by hitting the F10 key. Trust your instincts on when to save the game ;) Tip No. 2: Don't ever leave your teammate alone. Tip No. 3: Do remember to command your teammate to hold fire especially when you are about to make some stealth moves. Tip No. 4: Try to stay on the grass (don't smoke them) and prone while firing. Great cover there...makes the AI's keep on saying, "Where are they shooting from?"...."I see no one..." Tip No. 5: Indoor levels are the best. I've noticed something about indoor levels... Levels that got electric light lamps and bulbs... Shoot those lights off and turn on you NVG. The AI's are somewhat "blind" (totally darkness will make them "extremely blind". They even walk pass me without noticing I'm actually right below his feet). Try it...especially when you're playing Mission 7. Of course you shoot those lights off with your laser...keep it silent when you shoot those lights. Tip No. 6: Use laser to take out those eggs, lights, and steel bars. Tip No. 7: Snipping enemies...wait till they stop somewhere (for beginners) where else for the experts...no comment J. Snipping? Aim their heads. How do you make sure they are dead (especially when you're snipping some enemies on the towers) before you snipe those dudes on those towers, press your "Use" key (default is "Enter") to get the red target box. You will know when the enemy is confirming dead when the red target box goes off. I used this method all the time ever since some of those AI's play a trick on me by hiding inside the tower itself and snipe me back from the back :( Tip No. 8: Don't ever make a rush in Mission 7 to stop the nuke. Be note, it won't be able to disarm the launch in time (what can you do in 5 seconds??? disarm 4 nukes?????? need at least 5.5 seconds..). The most I could go is only 3 rockets...actually 3.5...what I mean by 3.5 is that as I almost reached to the 4th rocket panel.... whamm...I got blown to pieces.. The rocket launched...and I've lose a player...but luckily...due to Tip No.1.. I reload my quick save and continued playing right to the end ;) Tip No. 9: If you have some more ammo left, for example...4 sniper ammos left, try not to got to a corpse and see what that dead guy is carrying. It will only make you "auto reload" you weapon to a new magazine...and you lose those 4 ammos. Be noted...this not only happened to sniper...all other weapons which uses magazines.... for example, "Machine Gun", "Shotgun", "Sniper", and maybe others. What I meant be maybe other is because I never use the other weapons. The only highest gun I've ever used is the M38-R...never used the M40 etc. However, this is my opinion. It still depends on you though :) Tip No. 10: Clean up those bodies you've killed. Use laser to do the cleaning, ... it might sound stupid...but that's what I did and hey...look at my players ranking.... Captain in Level 8.... when you do the cleaning.... aim the head.. Maybe it improves your accuracy skills... Tip No. 11: Destroying tanks with a single missile shot is possible in a very close range (about 40M). Number of rockets used will increase as the range of firing increases and the accuracy decreases. Tip No. 12: Killing bugs (the scorpion looking type and the spider ones hatched from the eggs)are very easy (used to be very hard for me before I've noticed this method). Do not be afraid of them. Just go and play with it like a dog. Keep on running here and there as you fire your laser at it. Don't just sit in one corner and shoot it. Move around. Tip No. 13: Most people go for the latest gunnery (weapons) like the M40 etc. It's not that necessary to carry such massive weapons (unless you're a Rambo guy). Try to use just simple weapons like the M38-R. It's just good enough. Tip No. 14: At outdoor level, try to use hill to cover yourself. Also make sure your teammate not faraway with you, except he's death.. hehehe... Tip No. 15: While you are in lift tunnel, try to attract the enemies by shooting above, so the enemies will walk down the stair, shoot them from below, as a result, you will see the stacks of corps below… (Mad skill.. huh..). Tip No. 16: Please.. Please.. Please.. (3X). Don't burst your fire while you find only an enemy at front, maybe others will attack you while they heard it. Tip No. 17: In final mission, while you just finished planting nuclear bomb, make sure you remember the way where your from, don't rush, be steady or maybe you will fall into the river while you try to get your jet. Tip No. 18: Always check out you target pointer to make sure where is the place you should go. And also use you ears to make sure the path you walk is safe. (From bobby trap, cannon, etc.). Tip No. 19: Shotgun is the best friend for who's like Rambo skill (or mad skill).. Run along the enemies and shoot them down before they can kill you. (Note: Shotgun is very useful in short range target only, this tip not recommended for beginners. Take it at your own risk if you still want to do it.) Tip No. 20: Practice yourself to be a good sniper; you will not have any problem to take down all the snipers on top of guard tower or in the bunker. For all who always stuck in Mission 9, I guarantee, if you follow the tips carefully, there are no problems to facing it. I agree that Mission 9 is the mad mission. But, if you can get pass this mission, you have no problem to finish the rest of missions left. (Mission 10 till 14 is quite easy). ************************** 5. OHM's Game's Cheat: ---------------------- The only cheat code for the game is "xenux". Hit the console (~) key on your keyboard and type in the "xenux". Be advised, this cheat code only gives you extra syringes to every single corpse. IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU A GOD MODE. Be note that you will need to enter the code again and again if you want more syringes. It's not a "one key in get all" cheat code... you'll need to re-enter the console code. Cheat Tips: USE THIS CODE WHEN YOU GET STUCK TO FINISH THE MISSION. THIS IS MY ADVICE NOT ONLY WHEN PLAYING THIS GAME, BUT FOR OTHER GAMES. USING LESS CHEAT MAKES THE GAME MORE INTERESTING AND IT WILL INCREASE YOUR TACTICAL MIND. :) ************************** 6. OHM's Credit: ---------------- GSC Game World - for developing this game.
